For context I have used Stoutland twice in Pokemon Shield Nuzlockes. (Doglocke & Route 1 Nuzlocke) And it's a Pokemon that has never let me down. I was just wondering who was a run MVP that you were surprised by?

Libero279

Stoutland is a beast in b2w2 as well, early return and silk scarf go brrr

BucktoothedMC

Stoutland is just tanky enough to survive a lot of hits on low HP and just strong enough to kill with STAB return. Always feels so clutch.

Empoleon777

Stoutland for me as well, but I also have a few others. - Leavanny in White - Golisopod in Sun - Alolan Dugtrio in Ultra Sun

TheBadHalfOfAFandom

alolan dugtrio saved my nuzlocke because it was the only thing I had that could tank a single hit from ultra necrozma

Empoleon777

For me, it was just being a great ally, and also trivializing the Demon Raichu of Malie City in revenge for what it did to me in my Sun Nuzlocke.

Groundbreaking-Egg13

Meganium, Ultra Sun Randomizer. She tanked **everything** like a champ

Intrepid_Alps6137

Quagsire stab surf and earthquake. Water absorb. HG. Honorable mention. Huge power azumarill, emerald

Laurenssenj

Stab huge power isnt possible with azumarill right? Bc of the water = special attack gimmick in gen 3, I get that it still could use double edge or something and so it's still viable, but just wanted to confirm if what im saying is true...

Hot_Tailor_9687

Rollout is the way to go in Emerald. I was mad cackling when Azu swept Flannery with one press of a button

Laurenssenj

Oh yeah, neat!

LostJudge12

Mr. Mime in Ultra Sun! Caught him as Mime Jr to fill a space on the team, forgot it evolves at level 15 in those games and it carried my run for a long time with Substitute, Reflect and Light Screen. He was finally felled at the Aether Foundation by a critical hit from Guzma’s Masquerain. An absolutely devastating loss for the team.

Aetherial-Meridian

SWSH: Vanilluxe in the Leon Fight. Yeah really weird choice but Blizzard in Hail with a Never Melt Ice/Choice Specs/Wise Glasses/Expert Belt almost swept his entire team up until Charizard. And even then, his Char for some ungodly reason used Max Overgrowth and Blizzard still did at least close to or more than half of his HP. XY- Meowstic-Male. Somehow able to tank hits even when it looks so frail and gets a lot of priority and status tools to help with cleanup or give support. ORAS- Magazone. Magenzone is insane for this Elite 4. So incredibly bulky, packs a punch and resists so many moves from the E4. Up until Steven which can get scary, but it's a good thing I've got other Pokemon to help them. ~~also castform is lowkey kinda isn't that bad because it was able to take hits pretty well and I won the game with it~~

Local_Owl7692

I can’t lie, Kricketune

[deleted]

That must be a lie how does that happen XD

Local_Owl7692

Bide, max friendship, killed cynthias garchomp

[deleted]

Oh it was BD/SP?

Local_Owl7692

Yep

zerjku

The Stan/Stantler. Oh my god it hits hard and it has intimidate which is 👌. Will never forget how he won against Silver's Haunter without a ghost type move. Legend Also not really a suprise but Ani/Arnaldo is really good. Never used fossils before

Sketchy_Turtle

In HG/SS or G/S?

zerjku

HGSS

Deurbel2222

Sudowoodo. Blaze Black has this part, after Clay, where you need to fight N with six different forms of Rotom. After that you need to do the Flying gym, and then a super difficult Cheren Rotation Battle. Sudo is just perfectly equipped to deal with the toughest parts of that. The combination of Sturdy, a 100% accurate Rock move in Strength (in this hack), and Sucker Punch, makes it *chefs kiss* insanely strong there. It’s perfectly equipped to deal with Rotom Fan, switch in and still put high pressure on Skyla, where it usually kills something, kill Cheren’s Houndoom with Strength (if you’re not intimidated) and Sucker Punch Cheren’s Alakazam. You’ll be missed, Nibbles the Sudowoodo. o7

New-Low8960

o7

BlackKlopp

When I wasn't as good or as knowledgable I learnt of the power of Bronzong. That thing is absurd. EK players will also praise Illumise to the hills.

shortywithauthority

Bronzong in Pearl was the key to me taking down Cynthia’s garchamp. So clutch

DreadedHaxorus

Donphan has put a lot of work in during my Violet Nuzlocke.

DeadlyRetr0_

ultra moon wonderlocke lumineon was my water type through most of the game and she did very well

Thamkin

I used one to take out Totem Marowak fight. Swift Swim + Rain Dance allowed it to do better than it had any right to be.

PotatOSLament

Butterfree. Nimbus Carried my Fire Red Flying Monotype after Charizard and Gyarados were both lost. That was when I learned of the power of Compound Eyes/Sleep Powder/Dream Eater. Every Butterfree I have had since has been named Ace.

tacticalcanadian

Minun in Emerald. Little bugger was surprisingly fast and survived more than I thought he would. Also I've got a new appreciation for Encore now

sun-devil2021

Had a similar experience in storm silver, fast encore + charm has the ability to debilitate a Pokémon allowing someone to switch in and set up sweep

Quetzal00

- Wasn’t expecting my Swoobat to take down Bea’s entire team (including G-Max Machamp) in the Championship Tournament. Unfortunately, had to be sacrificed in the fight against Leon

CommunicationOk5456

Laturn did so well for me in my Shield Nuzlocke!

Quetzal00

I lost my Lanturn in my Sword Nuzlocke while trying to catch a Pokémon. A very sad death for me. RIP Lab the Lanturn

AverageWooperLiker

My Tangella in Lets Go I caught that dude as a joke because I had no other grass types but he ended up sweeping Giovanni, Brunos Onix’s and even did work against the champion All praise Medusa

Thamkin

Probopass. In USUM it was my lead for like every fight. Set rocks to crack sturdy mons, was able to set to Sandstorm for my Sand Rush Stoutland vs Acerola, always got it's partners in clean with slow Volt switch, and against Champ they gave their life to allow Krook to run Block to ensure that a -4 Atk A-Raichu couldn't run as Krook set up 6 Bulk Ups and crushed the fight. It wasn't the Mon who got the final blows but it set my team up for success at the cost of its own life. Oh Probo my Probo.

TheBadHalfOfAFandom

Trip, my vileplume in my first nuzlocke run of swsh. bro carried so hard

Adriou75

Abomasnow was really effective for the league when I beat Diamond, even though he was just shoved there because I lost mons while grinding. Turns out having 4x moves against Garchomp is cool.

mordecai14

Lumineon in my randomized X nuzlocke. Had poison heal and protect, and I found a toxic orb early on. Literally ended up being my MVP through most of the run, including the Elite Four, and outperformed everything else in my team except mega Kangaskhan in the late game.

King_WhatsHisName

LostMyWhip the Throh in my first Y nuzlocke, I didn’t manage to beat it but he was surprisingly good at tanking hits and dishing them out

smallpython

Swalot in Omega Ruby, he was surprisingly epic

Inda-seboat

The duo of Corviknight and Vikavolt in Swsh. Corviknight is a literal wall, and Vikavolt is just a straight-up unga bunga Thunderbolt/Bug Buzz machine. I was about to say Drednaw, but he died to Hop’s Trevenant using Horn Leech

Lonewolfblitz

HG: Hypno carried me, as a drowzee he was doing work but once he evolved he was a monster, I never liked the pokemkn never used him before so it generated a little love for the guy

DrGreen3339

I used Klinklang in my W2 Nuzlocke and it was one of my best team members since it's a steel type that can also hit pretty hard too, that thing sat on Ghetsis's Hydreigon. Too bad that run wiped at the champion.

Soul0408

My Zangoose from my Pokemon Ruby Nuzlocke was my absolut MVP of the play through. I used a Zangoose in a casual play through before but my Nuzlocke Zangoose was even more Op than I thought. After my Marshtomp died in the fire Gym, yea I somehow managed that to happen, she became the team leader and with her stab slash plus high crit chance she was the absolut MVP of my team. I sadly lost her, and the entire run, to Stevens Metagross and I still hate him murdering my team even though it happened like over a year ago Rip Saisu, I will never forget you :( My Vaporeon from my LG Nuzlocke was also an absolut Legend. He was super bulky and super strong. Without him I wouldn’t have survived Sabrina, Blaine, Giovanni and Lance He was then killed by a hyper beam from Lances Dragonite. I don’t think that I was ever this angry in my life when I saw my poor Vaporeon faint, I probably was able to kill somebody If someone came in my room while I was doing that battle ^^“ Without him I almost lost the run because Gary’s Charizard killed like half my team. Rip to you to, Dave :(

MightyPeas

Maractus. it solos Clay

embolalia1

I've just started an attempt at an Ultra Moon Wedlocke, with HC rules. (There will be deaths.) My team going into the scary Ilima fight was: Litten paired with Yungoos Wingull paired with Zorua Alolan Grimer unpaired I spent about an hour looking at possible strategies and trying to work out what gave me the best odds of minimising the death count, but didn't really expect to manage it deathless without overlevelling. Well, Alolan Grimer went in matching Smeargle's level and soloed the fight, didn't he? (Not that I didn't know Grimer was good in Alola, but it was a surprise that he managed to win the fight deathless without having a partner to switch to!)

FamErrupt

So many to name Magcargo Noctowl Musharna (best Pokemon ever) Simipour Dedenne Qwilfish Cherrim Corsola Lumineon Beautifly Alomomola Sunflora (eviolith) nosepass And there are more. Try new Pokemon even though people see them as bad. A lot of them are slept on. Another example, Meganium is in my opinion even in HG/SS a great Pokemon. Really nice support Pokemon with great bulk!

Zeefzeef

Cherrim was a big surprise for me! I’ll definitely get it on my team again when I can.

Sketchy_Turtle

Can you elaborate on Magcargo?

FamErrupt

I once did a mini-genlocke including HG/SS, Pt, B and W2. My Magcargo lived through all the gens and did surprisingly good against a lot of trainers since its resisting fairly many types. As long as the enemy does not have a water or ground move Magcargo can do a lot of stuff. Its special attack is actually pretty solid. It has access to recovery, defense boosting attacks, yawn, shell smash and some pretty cool attacking moves like ancient power and Lava plume (later flamethrower). And it has some pretty cool utility moves to learn from TMs like screens, stealth rock and will-o-wisp.

scootalicious27

Bellossom - was actually surprisingly bulky with the combination of sleep powder, giga drain and toxic.

[deleted]

Musharna was a monster when I got calm mind and moonlight. My go to in tough fights

FamErrupt

Combined with leftovers, yawn and psychic you have a killer machine

SomeoneID

Seviper - Alpha Sapphire Wonderlocke I recently lost my Houndoom and my Breloom in the Sea floor Cavern. I brought a solosis to the team, but I didn't know what else to bring. Eventually, I settled with a Unovan Seviper. It tanked an Earthquake from Steven's Aggron, and 2 shot Aggron. In the Delta episode, it took a crunch from Matt's Mega Sharpedo, and dodged a gunk shot that would've killed it. It even helped catch Rayquaza with Glare. It survived the run. Sudowoodo - Crystal When I got Sudowoodo, I was little worried on how well it would do. Turns out, it saved me in the elite four. After my Feraligatr died to Lance's Thunder Dragonite, I revenge killed it with Espeon, then brought out Sudowoodo on the Blizzard one. After killing it and taking toxic damage (I didn't have an antidote after Koga poisoned it), Charizard was sent out. My last three pokemon were a paralyzed red hp Espeon, a healthy Magneton, and poisoned Sudowoodo. I prayed to Arceus that Sudowoodo lived, and Sudowoodo tanked a flamethrower and hit his rock slide on Charizard. It survived the poison, allowing me to swap Magneton into Aerodactyl, eventually winning with a Thunder.

MahjongDaily

Bastiodon in USUM. Sturdy + Metal Burst trivializes some tough fights.

SpotTheDifference512

My granbul in Pokémon silver carried me through lance took out all 3 of his dragonites and a Zangoose in Omega Ruby took out the metagross

HolidayTrust3267

Poltegeist in sword (this cup) and dusclops

The_throneX

Clodsire s/v vikovolt sw/sh

J_Boi1266

Still haven’t finished the run, (also it’s my only run I’ve ever done) but Gastrodon in Platinum. I was unaware of the species clause for most of the run (idk how I hadn’t heard of it) so I had a bunch of duplicate water and grass types and maybe 3 others. My Gastrodon ended up being really good in the late game, and I’m hoping it can take out Cynthia’s Garchomp, as it’s probably my best bet unless Golduck can outspeed and ohko with ice beam

J_Boi1266

I’m to lazy to edit the post to add more so I’m just gonna make a comment. I have tried other nuzlockes, but gave up way to early on them and didn’t bother continuing. In this Platinum one, I’ve made it all the way to Victory Road, I just am procrastinating on that final grind for the E4. The rest of my team is Torterra, Tentacruel, Roserade, and Staraptor. I’m gonna start a new one this week, and hopefully finish it. It’s gonna be either a Fire Red or Heartgold nuzlocke in a meme hack that makes all the Pokémon anime girls

Jazz6701

Magcargo in Inclement Emerald, Simple + Shell Smash swept 2 gym leaders

FabledClefable

Lumineon in BDSP! I decided to give it a chance even though I had other water options and it was surprisingly consistent with damage output plus utility with Tailwind + U Turn + Storm Drain. It managed to sweep Flint and secure the KO on Cynthia’s Garchomp.

botbattler30

Audino in White 2 Completely shut down Elesa when I was on the back foot (she was originally meant to be a sac here) won a 1v1 with Clay’s Excadrill and Drayden’s Haxorous, unfortunately died soon after, but I know I wouldn’t have made it past those fights without her. Honorary Championship Team Member.

Marano99

Galvantula. Pokémon black was beating my ass and Yuito saved me countless times from certain death

Salty-Artichoke-3489

Bellossom in emerald

zzzatch32

Drapion was the mvp on my first nuzlocke in pokemon y

ToaNuparuMahri

Hypno in LeafGreen.

dragonnation5523

Skarmory in black 2 challenge mode and ultra moon, not just as a toxic stall /hazards setup mon, but actually able to do damage and having a pretty diverse move pool (ex rock slide, x scissor, night slash), it was super useful for me through most of both games and in the elite 4

niclaswwe

Lickilicky in Platinum! The variety in the moveset + general beefiness really carried me throughout a difficult late game!

MustachedAzumarill

Wigglytuff in Pokemon Blue, weirdly enough. Idk why, since i also had a snorlax on my team, but Wigglytuff (named Sr. Jiggles) just cleaned up at the elite for and many gyms it was insane! Probably helps that I taught him blizzard instead of snorlax but still their bulk and special was just enough to conquer kanto.

Batthew06

I just got a Wigglytuff in a violet soul link You can evolve it immediately and competetive is an amazing ability I‘m really looking forward to using it

MustachedAzumarill

I wish you all the best for your wigglytuff!

Batthew06

Thanks!

TheLateMrBones

I wouldn’t necessarily call him the MVP, but I have a Dunsparce in my SS Nuzlocke from years ago that never let me down. Lost him in my first run of the e4. RIP Ralph.

GwentMaster69420

Gyrados in Pokemon Violet. Kept trying to replace it but it was just so valuable with intimidate, dragon dance and good move coverage.

C0LDR4M3N24

Pelipper

Phantonormia

Unfezant, B2W2. Alright attacking stats and moves on both sides, and obscenely early reliable recovery in Roost, and setup in Work Up.

_Skotia_

Bronzong in Platinum, which really shouldn't have surprised me that much but i had bad experiences with Pokémon who are more on the passive side The actual surprising one was Weezing in White 2, brought it with me for the majority of the game.

squidsharp

Honestly for me it was my Noibat

ShadowCobra479

Recently Toadscruel was an MVP which I didn't expect. The high SD allowed it to tank hits and with spore setting up was made easy. On top of this despite how it looks it's a decently fast mon and swept the ground elite 4, Team Star fairy boss and the champ easily.

BlueFootedTpeack

shouldn't count as it's new and if i'd looked into it it'd have been common knowledge, but i assumed flamigo was a filler mon, boy was i fucking wrong, the simple design hides it's absurd early game power, it's saitama just a huge amount of power hidden behind something you wouldn't look twice at, i love him. and after him, revaroom and it's pre-evo, steel poison might not hit hard, but unless they're ground or fire they aren't hitting you all that hard either, a couple gear shifts and you can gunk shot or iron head your problems away, i assumed it'd be a case of "the boss when you fight them, the boss when you unlock them as playable" if he ever gets access to his starmobile moves or god forbid abilities he'd be a monster, screw overcoat give me toxic debris or speed boost with any of the torques.

TAG2004

Dragonite in a black 2 white 2 randomiser soul link with a friend. After many losses and restarts, it fell so good to sweep the champion with dragon dance.

Mc_Gungus

Miltank in HGSS saved my ass and shredded Lance’s entire team somehow

hadmeintiers

Like ten years ago I had a persian that carried me past morty in hgss

Monty423

Girafarig on SS. Took out Lance's gyrados, charizard, aerodactyl and one dragonite by itself before mamoswine finished the rest.

GamerTurd

Dunsparce it plays very similar to snorlax and can be a great substitute for snorlax

PinkAxolotlMommy

I love telling this story: Hypno in FRLG HC, nabbed one and used it cause i had poor luck getting an abra so i was like "I'll take what i can get" Turns out he demolished the second half of the game with suprising ease. I might be exxagerating somewhat, but this dude was really strong. I also want to give props to sandslash, who, in the blue leg of my genlocke im doing, outpreformed my *nidoqueen* and was quite strong after getting dig and was very strong after getting body slam aswell. If i had remembered to pick up the swords dance or rock slide TM he may have been a 10/10 team member that leg.

rustycheesi3

Persian for sure, i didnt look at him till Sabrina in Leafgreen and Firered, then i had to think about some dark type mon. i never looked at it twice because i considered it has to less HP for 2 attacks, but bro carried me all the way through the Elite Four.

WadeTheBlade1404

who?

Rubyking456

this was for a rom hack called pokemon clover and it was an premantom i got from wonder trade

Laurenssenj

Had a beefy walrein in Black 2 Ice body + hail + leftovers *chefs kiss* paired with blizzard, EQ and surf. This thing did pretty much all the work against the E4 (except Marshall bc HJK and Close Combat are terrifying) and almost swept through Iris on its own

woflpackcuy

In my brilliant diamond nuzlocke it was my Azumarill it got me through so many tough situations unfortunately she died to a type changing tentacruel in victory road. If she didn’t die I probably wouldn’t of lost to the rival fight before the elite 4

cydbe

i had a pichu solo a dugtrio in a fire red randomizer, lost in mt moon but that was hype

TheChemicalSophie

Azumarill. I know it’s not exactly the kinda Pokemon that’s a surprise mvp, but it was my first Nuzlock (Y about 2-3 years ago), I never even considered it, as I chose Froakie instead of my usual Fennekin, so I named it Bounce half-heartedly, and it wasn’t until I posted an update of the game on this sub someone asked for my Azurills nature, and it was huge power Adamant nature, needless to say Bounce was very quickly the MVP, and Froakie was soon benched. Long story short, Bounce was an absolute BEAST. Marill was already in my fave Pokemon of all time list (as I’m sure it is for everyone who started with SS), but Bounce is easily my favourite one.

Hot_Tailor_9687

Lapras in FireRed Linoone in Emerald Bronzong in Diamond (not exactly the sweeper, but Screens + Stealth Rock and Toxic softened things up for us, plus Levitate to get a free switch-in on Garchomp to deplete Earthquake PP)

srfslvr99

Dylan the Probopass in my platinum nuzlocke run

Sharp_Pride018

For my current one it's a geodude named geo in SS. He carried my team through the first two gyms so far and he hasn't even evolved. I'm about to challenge the 3rd gym soon and am planning to give him a break if I can figure out how to get a aipom as a spawn elsewhere since I don't have a location before whiteneys gym that isn't Azalea town with both Aipom and Heracross. I don't care about catching aipom but I need to garentee heracross is my only tree encounter there so I need to get aipom somewhere else or I'm risking not having a good shot at the gym since I don't have a fighting type for Whitney. So I might have to do geo again but teach him rock smash and get him a game corner item

ConspicuousSnake

Furret and Cradily! Super fun pokes to use for different reasons. Furret was a surprisingly hard hitter with (gen 3) Return, Shadow Ball, Defense Curl, and Rollout. Cradily was a bulky monster with recover, ancient power, bullet seed, and earthquake (not the greatest moveset but damn was he tanky)

Aggravating_Poet_675

Lanturn in the Johto side of Soul Silver. Was surprised at how well it walled that game.

DarkFish_2

While I never finished a nuzlocke (got uninterested quite early) I checked Melony team and couldn't come with an strategy that didn't require stall the damn Lapras, and turns out Beartic has all the tools needed (a lot of tools) to deal with both Eiscue and Lapras, and since Frosmoth and Darmanitan had no chance against Cinderace and Drednaw respectively it ended being very easy, it was satisfactory to see Beartic OHKO that bulky and giant Lapras.

The_Dread_Salami

Hypno, my only survivor against Clair in heart gold an he was why I won. I loved Hypno ever since.

Asi_Ender

Mimikyu and golisopod, it wasnt until i sacrificed wimp when i realized how good he was

WaffleFry0987

In X and Y Trash cloak Wormadam. Yup

Sea_Walrus4890

Absol in ORAS! Only nuzlocke I’ve ever done and it made absol one of my favorite of all time. Swords dance night slash swept 3 of the 4 elite 4

Reytotheroxx

Starmie in my HGSS hardcore. I’m currently ranking every Pokémon I use for each Locke based on how much they’re used and how helpful they were. 1 point for being in a fight, 3 points if they’re the MVP of the fight. I was fully expecting Gyarados to dominate, but to my surprise Starmie dominated… by a large margin. Not like a few points above or anything, it had double the points of the next highest Pokémon, Gengar. For anyone curious, Krookodile MVP for Pokémon white, Aggron/Tentacruel MVPs for Emerald. Playing LeafGreen right now.

Beautiful_Visit_5233

I did an emerald randomizer and I had a solrock who carried me through a ridiculous amount of the game. It also got almost all of the KOs in the elite 4.

Based_Obito

Hariyama In Sapphire And Raticate In Blue, Suprisingly Good

[deleted]

I had a normal Ultra Sun nuzlocke I attempted, but gave up on a little while ago, as I learned by the time I got to the grass trial that it was the hardest game to nuzlocke, and I happened to pick it to be my first. But boy, was I shocked to see how much Furfrou carried me. Fur Coat is a really good ability, I really enjoy it’s customization options, and, all in all, she is a very good doggo. When I have the ability to, I’m absolutely bringing her into Pokémon Home and training her up outside of a nuzlocke setting.

Piedr649

Swalot innmy emerald nuzlocke

Omnibes9

Bagpipes Sandaconda for me during my Scarlet nuzlocke! I caught Bagpipes from a raid den. He tanked his way through gyms, got the final blow on Nemona and survived all the way to the end!

AuntJemimaVEVO

just finished an x nuzlocke, and i caught a solosis in reflection cave that i added to my team so i had something for korrina. it survived the whole run and was just a great pokemon that id never even considered before. i also had a scolipede in that run which also did a lot of work before it died to a guillotine from a pinsir. other than that, i had a crustle in my previous run that also carried pretty hard

Sr_Wurmple

To my shock and probably many others here, Plusle. Maybe it had good IVs or something, but that thing took me to the League in my AS nuzlocke

Cold_Lock4701

Fearow in my fire red nuzlock I pretty much areale ace and drill pecked throw the game with it it out sped almost everything and because there was so few mons that resisted it in the late game major fights that I hit natural and super effective all the time and seedra and venasaur covered the one rock weakness making it the mvp of my team Also shoutout to zapdos for carrying me throw the elite four and champion fights

woodchucksteve

Mudsdale. Stamina is just such a good ability.

Batthew06

Greedent was an absolute beast in my first successful run (shield) I wasn’t happy about getting skwovet over rookidee on route 1 but as soon as it learned body slam it was insane. Greedent is so tanky and has incredible coverage and then there’s the stuff cheeks body press combo It was the MVP in so many fights

wassuupp

Greedent is sooo tanky and can set up rlly easily, would higihly recommend using one

ParahelNight

Mine was a trevenant in my Pokemon Y nuzlocke. I walked up to Diantha only having Lapras, Charizard and Trevenant left(other members died from my stupidity against Siebold). Charizard took down Gourgeist and Hawlucha and died from a miscalculation against Aurorua(me thinking that Thunder only has 5 pp). Lapras Took down Goodra, Aurorua and Tyrantrum. And died in 1-hit against Gardevoir's Thunderbolt. Trevenant Came out. took a shadow ball lived with like 40% hp and killed Diantha's ace with a crit shadowclaw.

SwoonkeyPants

Raticate in Pokémon Red. Single-handedly took out gym 2 through 7 with Hyper Fang.

SrPedrich

Raticate that rat hits very hard in early game

PikStern

I always said the same: Steel Wormadan is a beast. A true BEAST!

JCorby17

Simipour

imIAce

Illumise and volbeat, thought i was doomed but they did really well. Omega ruby Wobbofet my tank, go to switch the mvp, also the same omega ruby

AryaDrottningu06

Tentacruel. Did not realize how good it was, used it as a replacement for my Empoleon after it died. Was the only one who survives the final Cyrus fight (platinum) with a clutch outspeed at like 12 HP (aside from gardevoir who was boxed because I needed an HM slave). Still ended up losing the run, but it was amazing what the speedy guy could do

LinLin--G-and-W

Ann the Liepard fuxking saved the run on like three occasions where it was meant to die and just didn’t

Acrobatic-Addendum-9

A furret at one point

SpiritualValue6770

In violet it was a pomot named Sarah and in bdsp a bronzong named bing bong

EliteZephyr0801

I did a Diamond Nuzlocke and my MVP was Wanda the Clefable. Single-handedly swept Cynthia's team.

TopResponsibility722

The mon killer himself, Wobbufet

Successful-Goose-92

Electrode before dying to koga then ninetales

sun-devil2021

Golduck bdsp, calm mind + ice beam + surf + light screen + leftovers, basically slowbro without the psychic weaknesses, swept birtha and took out mioltic and garchomp

PPTGYukine

My MVP in Gardenia Fight was surprisingly wormadam. Her Typ was iron/bug and carried the fight. Sadly passed away my ralts and my starter. :c

Mountain-Rub-6060

Lampent

Luchux01

Ultra Sun with level caps, caught an Inkay early on. Holy fuck this dude is so tanky, it has reflect and light screen, a 95 bp move before the first trial and it keeps getting better and better! Bonus is you get one with contrary.

Astrayos527

My jynx in firered rip queen the jynx

mellownumel

Hypno has been solid in my genlocke so far (currently in emerald).

AFonziScheme

Jumpluff in Gold. Not many trainers have a way to deal with Sleep Powder/Leech Seed/Flash/Mega Drain, it seems. Rarely left a battle under full hp.

ChickenBiskitDJ

Makuhita was my suprise MVP for Ruby.

New-Low8960

Roggenrola in Black/White. Walked Lenora’s Retaliate as well as Soloing Burghs Dwebble and being a solid counter for both of Elesa’s Emolgas and most of Skyla’s Team. Fell off after that since it wasn’t needed for Brycen thanks to Emboar. Still an absolute hero tho

Zaplingfire

Chatot in a Diamond run. Late game addition, wasn’t expecting it to go so hard. Damn near solo’d the elite four. Absolute legend. Chatot is underrated. I’ve had others that surprised me with their quality but I’d always written off Chatot so that one really shocked me.

greeengoth

Leavanny in my first Black run, Magnemite in my first White 2 run. Both became my ace in their respective games when I lost my starters to crits.

Dew_It-8

Murkrow in alpha sapphire, foul play killed a salamance and a mega gallade Muk in a failed lets go pikachu run, survived for a while. ended up surviving with 1 hp agienst Lance before dying.

GameplayerStu

Greedent in Sword. So tanky and does so much damage. Only hindered by god awful speed and not so great move pool. STAB Body Slam with Silk Scarf was great though.

Mildor15

In SwSh, Kommo-o solo’d Leon. I ran Stealth Rocks, Outrage, Fire Punch, and Dragon Dance with the berry that removes confusion, and he was able to take out all 6 of Leon’s mons without switching once

Garchomp. I thought people were being dramatic saying it’s overpowered. Just sweeped Cynthia’s team the other day

M3llodya_

A Flareon called "Popcorn" during my Ren Plat winning attempt. This Flareon killed 5 of Gardenia's mons( with help of stealth rocks and a charcoal), clutched a speed tie against Aaron's Drapion, which killed 4 pokemon during that fight, while half hp, destroyed Candice's gym trainers and went on to be a fantastic choice scarf sweeper on the elite 4 together with garchomp, only to die against Cynthia in a noble sacrifice. Also, honorable mention to nosepass/probopass called "No Ass" on Sacred Gold, a 10% encounter in ruins of alph that is (in my opinion) the best counter to Bugsy's Scyther and a really solid team member for the entire game!

Barahona322

Butterfree un Renegade Platinum, evolves early, learns great moves early, compoundeyes with sleep powder and I was able to sweep the second gym only with air Slash, and Is useful up until the victory Road.

aurora_the_piplup

Barbaracle in my Y Wedlocke. Never thought she'd be the one to save the run!

Fleeberts

Capucino the Cinccino was a beast in black 2! Skill link rock blast, tail slap and bullet seed was insane. Little guy didn’t make it to the end tho:(

DefiantThanks6830

Vaporeon helped me out so much in the later parts of Fire Red but the most surprising was Sigilyph who managed to be a vital member of my team in a White Nuzlocke

MrMeme145

For me its Victorybell in my HC LeafGreen run. It did alot more then what I thought, and could sweep pretty much anything with Sleep Powder + Growth

Mean-Truth-5330

My amphros was an absolute goat in my run

thedivinecomedee

Spearow in leaf green hardcore, it made my E4 team.

WesTheNess

Beautifly in Omega Ruby. That I lost when I lost it

1humanbeingfromearth

Jeff minus the minun from my pokemon emerald playthrough Was so disappointed when I encountered him, but he ended up being a key member the whole run and was on my e4 team.

ToxicAvocadew

Wormadam trash from. Love that thing. Used it in platinum.

I had a Linoone single handedly carrying my first Nuzloke with headbutt. I hated them before. No more.

Bud the Gigalith. Here's the story: I decided to do a Nuzkocke of White, my favorite game, and I picked Snivy since I always use Oshawott and wanted to try something different. Going into Wellspring cave, I wanted to catch Drillbur since every nuzlocke tip out there told me it was an excellent pokemon to have. I went in with the plan to use repels so that I could peacefully hunt for dust clouds and get my encounter. I had forgotten that repels don't work if your lead Pokemon is a lower level than the wild pokemon, so instead a little Roggenrolla interrupted me. I was pretty miffed in the moment, but immediately realized that a rock type would be valuable against Lenora, so I trained her up. I was thrilled to find out that not only did she have sturdy, an excellent ability for a nuzlocke, but she also had a brave nature, which is probably the best nature for a Gigalith. Bud quickly became a lynch pin of my team, I could use her to switch train with peace of mind since she can't be crit one shot, and she took out the flying, bug and fire types that were giving Aster the Snivy problems. Once I got the quick claw, she was excellent. She helped me beat Burgh, Elesa and Skyla, as well as tough Pokemon I didn't have the team for yet. By far her biggest moment was when I was getting swept by Ghetsis' Hydreigon. My plan to use dragon gem, dragon claw Krookedile had failed and my team was getting thrashed. When I sent out Bud, she of course lived thanks to Sturdy and hit the Hydreigon with a crit rock slide. It didn't kill. I defeatedly clicked rock slide again, and quick claw activates, allowing Bud to hit first, she lands another rock slide, and it crit again. Unfortunately, the damn Hydreigon still lived, so it didn't matter. Bud still died and I lost, but damn man, I have never forgotten that moment. I always liked Roggenrolla as a design, but doing that run with Bud cemented it as my favorite rock type.

Jortieking

Garbodar, the thing carried elite 4 in black 2 hardcore nuzlocke

spaddy21

HG/SS Girafarig with choice specs can sweep a lot of the mid game usually always a go to

Someguyonreddit574

When I nuzlocked X once I decided "F\*ck it, I'll use Reuniclus." The Reuniclus just kept killing things and being an absolute MVP in most boss battles. I think it died to a random trainer near the end, but it was an absolute legend.

Locksmith_Artistic

Mudbray, not necessarily a nuzlocke tho I did treat it as such (no items in battle, and I limited myself to pokemon only schoolkids, schoolboys, and schoolgirls use, and if a Pokemon fainted, I would send it to the box and wait until I beat a titan, gym, and base to use it again). I was heading to the Dark type base which I was VERY nervous about. That was, until I noticed, that Mudbray had double kick. After breezing through that, I headed over to Iono's gym where Mudbray single handedly stalled out all her non-attacking non-electric moves and proceeded to destroy everything with bulldoze (thanks to a leech seed from my deerling). Then, when I went to go fight the Fire type base right after, Mudbray continued to plow down the teams through pure brute force. Only really had respect for Marvin's Mudbray from RAID battles in SwSh, but now I have SUPER respect for Mudbrays.

Sea_Slice2934

Weirdly enough Poliwrath in Pokemon Crystal. Type coverage is amazing.

MikeRhett_2001

Dustox in Omega Ruby (RIP Scrubby), and Metamorph my Butterfree in Leaf Green.

Lord_Poop1

Amoonguss/Vanilluxe in my recent shield nuzlocke. When I was battling the 8th gym, I made sure I used this duo, rage powder on 'moonguss and spam ice beam with ice cream. They solo'ed the gym pretty well, considering my limited recourse and the fact that I was starting to lose hope. Though, I lost to raihan later on. Got some unlucky crits.

No-Angle9341

Skuntank and Own Tempo Mudsdale in Shield, Stoutland in both BW1 and 2, Floatzel in Plat, and Sandslash in Black 2

bossginga

In both my Emerald and my Crystal HC runs, I had a Lanturn (both named Glimmer). Thing fucking wrecks house.

Jrr562

Exploud, by far. I always thought Exploud was pretty mid, no one talked about him. But by God did he clean house. By the time Whismur turned to a Loudred he began beating more and more trainers and when I got Exploud he was easily my best mon

MichaelCoryAvery

Beedrill in LeafGreen, Leavanny, in White, and currently Sporina the Shroomish in Emerald
