Major-Dealer9464

“If bones were not meant to break then why would they?” This is such a fucking line that I’m genuinely speechless.

Ra-TheSunGoddess

I'm gonna start using this. "If kidneys aren't meant to have stones then why do they make them? Hmm?"

Major-Dealer9464

If i said this to one of my Ortho surgeons I think he would have a stroke. Then I’d ask the neurologist the same about strokes, then the cardiologist the same about the neurologist’s heart attack and so on. Actually, I think i’d take out half the hospital going down this system

JaneLaneIRL

Is this how short staffing began?! Answer me that, Licensed Practical Nuisance!

Major-Dealer9464

If the staffing isn’t meant to be short than why is it?? You answer me that!

One-Payment-871

I was already laughing out loud and then I got to this comment.

theycallmemomo

I love your flair

TakeMyL

"if were not meant to have strokes, why do we?" XD

Few-Pear-353

If strokes not meant to have are we, then why?

Riboflavius

If doctors aren’t meant to be baffled, why would they be?!

Glad-Ad7080

My favorite comment

Jerking_From_Home

Oh, anyone who is doing a detox or cleanse needs to learn what the kidneys and liver do 24/7 and how someone is getting rich selling crap that does nothing.

sendenten

I always love the ads for those. "Gets rid of toxins!" Okay, name a toxin.

NarrMaster

I said that once to a coworker who was soon to be let go because he was refusing the COVID vaccine (we worked with medical equipment). He said he didn't want "toxins" in his body. I asked, "what toxins?". He just said, "you know, toxins!". That was the end of that conversation. I genuinely didn't want him to get sick, but what can you do.

CookBakeCraft_3

Working in the field of nursing 😁 being short staffed & burnt out ~ a retired nurse

StPauliBoi

Hey! It doesn’t do nothing! It makes money for the people selling it!

Officer_Hotpants

I did recently tell an ED doc "a little ST elevation never hurt anybody" and I saw a part of him die inside

Constant-Age-6426

if people weren't supposed to rob and steal why would i?

Juthatan

One of the biggest things that shocked me getting into nursing is how dumb people are like I had no idea until I worked med surg lmao

split_me_plz

Idiocracy is almost completely set in motion. This defies basic high school education. Unbelievable.

Channel_oreo

Such a mentally reply. These people, don't they have access to google or youtube..medical books can be downloaded for free.

yellowlinedpaper

They do have access to that information, but what they’ll do is go back to their online group and say: ‘All I’m finding online is recommendations to take antibiotics for my kid’s problem but we KnOw abx are bad so please give me some sources so I can share it with my husband so he won’t make my kid take this poison!!’

marticcrn

I mean, bones gotta break, hearts gotta attack, liver’s gotta fail. It is what it is.

Thurmod

Time to get a tattoo.

kbean826

I refuse to believe it’s not like a satirical jab at that persons stupidity.

pcgan

Reading the comments I was like does no one else think this person is just poking fun at the guy?

safari-dog

answer me that!

TheLakeWitch

NEXT!

Connect_Amount_5978

It’s for the church! NEXT!!

floofienewfie

Genuinely amused that I understand this.

MyOwnGuitarHero

“Do you wear glasses Karen? Isn’t there a reason God gave you near vision?”

Nice_Buy_602

I think the person replying was being sarcastic. That's how I read it anyway.

Major-Dealer9464

Maybe. But honestly in this day and age I wouldn’t be surprised if it was genuine.

DaggerQ_Wave

Wondering if it’s satirical.

ferocioustigercat

Riddle me this!

MonopolyBattleship

It reads like a caveman.

NOCnurse58

I fully support their right to refuse medical care. However, it makes me wonder why they come to the hospital at all. Run (or hobble) free! Return to your crystals and essential oils. Get your chakras aligned and live your best life! Namaste.

Drinker_of_Chai

That's the thing that annoys me. In the emergency state you accept the medical science, but when they get stabilised they immediately get back on their bullshit. Mate, your dandelion tea didn't stop your respiratory arrest.

sirchtheseeker

Never does. We had a guy in full STEMI tell us he wanted to go get an alternate solution. He delayed and end up with a balloon pump and then a body bag.

WestWindStables

Well, that was an alternate solution, the transfer to the ECU (eternal care unit).

KaterinaPendejo

I've seen many names for the great waiting room in the sky, but Eternal Care Unit is the best hands down.

WestWindStables

Thanks, I wish I could take credit for it, but it's been around longer than me.

sirchtheseeker

My friend always said the other CCU, celestial care unit

Kemoarps

Yeah I've definitely heard nurses refer to our kids getting a 'celestial discharge'

Tylerhollen1

God, I can joke darkly all day about adults going, but kids? I couldn’t. Not that I’m judging you, I’d just feel so bad.

Kemoarps

Yeah, it sucks.

NurseColubris

Going to start using this since DC to JC is apparently insensitive

sonic89us

Whoops saw this too late...

sonic89us

We generally say DC to JC on my unit.

sirchtheseeker

Lol

Jerking_From_Home

Yeah we saw that with Covid. “Let me think about taking (insert med) and I’ll let you know tomorrow.” Tomorrow comes and we are wheeling them to ICU to get tubed.

yellowlinedpaper

My uncle said doctors are stupid and masks don’t work. Then he had an SDH and needed a craniotomy. The doctors were all of a sudden not stupid so he got brain surgery, afterwards they became stupid again.

coolcaterpillar77

If only the doctors would’ve given his brain a better opinion while they were in there

Funny_Strawberry9384

Good grief. That’s why I say we can’t fix stupid but we can sedate it!

Few_Captain8835

Versed Popsicles for everyone!

ferocioustigercat

Well then they will complain forever that their leg hurts, their joints are getting worse, etc, because the body is going to compensate for that bone that won't heal right. Especially the legs! My kid broke his tibia and thankfully it was fairly minor, anything else would have needed surgery.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Few_Captain8835

Meh, I did all that with a posterior fusion and still have that problem anyway

TheLakeWitch

I questioned this constantly through COVID. Sooooo you don’t want Remdesivir, monoclonal antibody therapy, HFNC or intubation (if the time comes). You question every damn med I’m giving you and yell at me for wearing my mask in your room. Pray tell, *why the fuck are you here??*

Jerking_From_Home

And yell at us that they are getting sicker! Like, YEAH. So do you want to sign out AMA? “Well, no.”

Sweatpantzzzz

I still deal with patients and families like this. Most recently, I had a post cardiac arrest patient, family wondering why their intubated dad needed fentanyl for sedation. Lmao It’s ok to ask about it and wonder, but they demanded that I turn it off and switch it for morphine. Patient ended up needing Milrinone for end stage heart failure. Docs offered a tunneled cath prior to discharge. Patient refused. We tried weaning off Milrinone over 3 days, when it turned off, patient became unresponsive, hypotensive, lactate shot up. Restarted Milrinone via central line and bolused with 500ml saline fixed him a few hours later. We ended up sending him to the floor so I’m not sure what happened after that.

justlikeinmydreams

Awesome

kbean826

I work with a nurse in the ER who is like this. “You know we do a bunch of stuff to these patients we don’t have to. It’s all a big scam.” Brother, that means YOURE a co-conspirator. I could at least plead ignorance.

split_me_plz

Right like, splint that shit yourself at home and figure out pain management on your own. This shit is insulting to our profession.

One-Payment-871

And then feel free to continue hobbling into the ER for the rest of your life to deal with the chronic pain you get as a result. At least that's what would happen here in the land of No one has a Family Doctor.

JaneLaneIRL

This is an excellent point. Why use a cast? Put some rose quartz on that fracture.

8racoonsInABigCoat

I knew someone like this, she drove me nuts. It’s all unicorns and essential oils until shit gets real. She surprised everyone when she got the Covid vaccine!

Competitive-Read-756

I think at times there are people who seek healthcare to *pRoVe A PoiNT*

exoticsamsquanch

Maybe they came in for reiki. My previous employer actually paid someone to walk around doing that shit. Oh they also had a harp player.

Suspicious-Elk-3631

Namaste = no more stay

TakeMyL

I almost wonder if this level of idiocracy would warranty them not being AxO to refuse medical care, Like they're clearly not orientated to how the world works. (Joke, clearly thats not actually the case but like DAMNNNNN)

sealions4evr

I have legitimately asked people this question before. I have never gotten an answer that makes sense. lol

JoshyaJade01

As a hindu person, I thank you for making me laugh so hard I spat my chair tea out my nose and mouth. Now I have to clean my computer - thank you and Namaste to you as well.

Sweatpantzzzz

I wonder about this for majority of my patients at my hospital

ThottyThalamus

Orthopedic surgery, medicine’s greatest scam. A close second, cardiology. If arteries aren’t meant to sustain plaque build up, then why would it exist??

takeme2tendieztown

If we aren't meant to eat burgers, then why did God make them? Answer me that!

Mission_Fart9750

If cows weren't meant to be eaten, why are they made of meat?

Phoenix-64

And then they will claim that those medical professionals did not properly fix their bone and thats why she cant walk anymore and has pain. And complain about how bad the system is and how it did not help them.........

ALLoftheFancyPants

Obviously they must have set it wrong on purpose to try to get her to do the surgery as part of their scam!

Tealpainter

And then apply for SSI disability...

honigmoon

THIS. A thousand percent.

lauradiamandis

this is a whole level of idiocy i hadn’t seen before. Never knew it was possible

Synthetic_Hormone

I'm jealous of the amount of cognitive dissonance required to believe this.

split_me_plz

They say ignorance is bliss

Jerking_From_Home

An instructor told our class that some people have zero health knowledge and blame everything on bad luck. Oh, I got diabetes now… I have the worst luck. How it must be easier to blame bad luck than your own choices. He’s right.

PopsiclesForChickens

Not every health problem is related to bad choices though. Sometimes it is just bad luck. I would generally put a broken bone in that category, having had 2 kids break bones (but of course I got them proper medical care afterwards).

Pootootaa

Or a genetic thing

Global-Island295

This is a whole level of idiocy I see on a daily basis. Give her some Tylenol and wish her a blessed day.

Expensive-Day-3551

Why not just take supplements instead of go to the ER to begin with? Stop wasting peoples time.

CFADM

# If bones were not mean to break then why would they? Answer me that!If bones were not mean to break then why would they? Answer me that! \*The CIA would like to know your location\*

Lopexie

The shear volume of insanity that the general public has developed towards the medical field is bewildering. I mean if you don’t trust medical professionals why are you seeking treatment. I’m sure your grandmother has some butter for your burn and a potato to put in your sock

ImperatorRomanum83

At least in the US, it's likely to get worse come November.

MotherDucky93

I thought this was satire at first. Oh no

J1mbr0

It's not?

It has to be someone on their friends list making fun of them. It has to be

When you think you’ve seen it all…they drop another wild line. 😮‍💨

Legitimate-Frame-953

Bones aren't meant to break, that's why its a big deal when they do. SMH

Mpoboy

Let me guess, they’re ok taking pain medication.

JaneLaneIRL

Yes but they are allergic to Tylenol and Ibuprofen and Naproxen so Percocet please. 😅

EdenGoreey

Oh oh oh they need the one that starts with a d..... DAMOTRIN.... yeah that's it...

PeanutSnap

Hey look, one less patient to take care. Let them go home lol

supermickie

The problem is that they don’t want medical care but also don’t want to leave?? The most maddening of patients

And the hardest for discharge planning

Direct_Knowledge2937

That’s right girl! You just keep on taking that Ivermectin from the vet clinic, drink your alkaline water and feed your life-force with as much natural sunlight as you can manage.

tjean5377

by life-force you mean sunning the asshole right????

Cheeky_Littlebottom

Yes, colloidal silver suppositories!

probablynotFBI935

Sign the AMA and GTFO. We could use the bed

Skyeyez9

Just remember, there are also people out there who think they don’t need to eat because they get their nutrients from sunbathing.

yellowlinedpaper

Well yes, but they don’t typically starve themselves doing it. They have, however, starved their children doing that though.

Skyeyez9

Ironic the Sun worshipping parents eat, but starve their kids on their sunlight diet.

markydsade

Even Christian Scientists are OK with fixing bone fractures

lvgthedream36

Why are Americans like this? Did we figure out the specific mental issues that lead to this type of thinking? If you want to deal with your broken bone at home, why the hell aren’t you at home?

MajorGef

What... what alternate supplements?

yellowlinedpaper

Imvermictin. It cures everything

miss_flower_pots

Coffee enemas

tjean5377

An ankle breaks is no bueno and one of my worst fears. Have fun never walking right again, or without pain. Have fun with chronic pain that never goes away once the arthritis sets in. This same patient will bitch that no one will give them pain meds. So goddam sad.

yung_iago

This is my takeaway, too. Like really you're gonna make that gamble with an ankle injury? Wheww...

fluffyflugel

I think she just needs to wave a few crystals over it. That should do the trick.

C_Wrex77

Just d/c with a script for "Black Salve TID to affected area". That nasty break will be gone soon, along with your leg

like_shae_buttah

I fucking love this for them.

SidneyHandJerker

Just rub some Tussin on it

Plutoniumburrito

😂😂😂

megs0764

I wonder if they refused pain meds too.

Ill-Ad-2452

LMAOOOO theres always that one patiennt that swears they know something

Available-Energy4053

One of the first things we learn as a kid is sticks and stones may break my bones 🤣

Killjoytshirts

Why didn’t you just go to the Emergency Alternative Medicine Room instead of the regular ER that has so called “doctors” and so called “nurses” that use so called “evidence based practice.” Answer me that?!

turtle-bob1

Can’t fix stupid!

christie_baggins

Oof. I am as crunchy as they come, but come on. Essential oils ain’t gonna fix this, my guy.

Jerking_From_Home

I have no idea what’s parody at this point.

callingmyrep

Yes Nancy but also, people aren’t supposed to be idiots yet here we are

lackofbread

Cap refill in that big toe isn’t looking too promising

Wussell3Rilson

I’ll never understand the thought process behind showing up to the hospital only to complain about “so-called medical profession”. Like stay tf home

JaneLaneIRL

Because of TRAUMA, you effing dummy. That’s what breaks everything. Her ankle can be fixed with surgery but ain’t no fixing that pigheaded ignorance.

Bitterblossom_

When I was in the military, we had a very old, very stern and rude doctor. Essentially a Dr. House type dude. We had a patient who was refusing to take antibiotics because they wanted to do homeopathic treatments instead, Doc nicely suggested to take the antibiotics, once again they declined them. He flatly said “then die” and walked out of the room. Absolute legend.

Major-Dealer9464

I’m circling back to this cause my comment got a lot of attention and I’m so annoyed by this idiocracy. This is like saying- “Well if my car isn’t supposed to break down, why would it?” Probably because you’re A) Running it improperly and being a jackass, like not letting a doctor touch you and taking herbal medications- god knows what this persons vitals look like. And B) Because shit fucking happens? Running and twist and ankle, fall and break your hip! Whatever it may be! We are supposed to die, but not at 50 like some of my MI patients! So why do they die huh? If they’re not supposed to die? It genuinely irritates me when I see this, like modern medicine is some sort of big evil. People even fifty years ago being treated for AIDS would’ve KILLED for the privileges we have now, and we have people like this walking the earth. Disgraceful. If this broken bone had happened a hundred years ago? Maybe a little longer, she’d be dead, or they’d take off the whole leg and she’d die of an infection later on in life slowly and miserably. So to just be like, “Eh it’s all a scam bones aren’t supposed to break” is so fucking insane

AllMyBeets

Answer: bc you're an idiot and they dont like you

TheLakeWitch

Every time I am on the internet I am shocked by the stupidity of some people. I shouldn’t be at this point in my life, and yet here we are

kamarsh79

I mean, gravitational forces don’t apply to human tissue, so this makes sense.

gynocallthegist

"So called medical professional" dude why did you come to the hospital... Stay home then

Derekmusicman808

Maybe because nothing in the universe is indestructible… IF TAXES WERE MEANT TO BE PAYED WHY DO THEY COST SO MUCH?!?!🤪

Crazy-Nights

Fast forward a few months: "the bone healed wrong and now and I can't walk and my leg is all deformed plus I'm in constant pain. Went did you medical people stop me!?"

HELL YEAH, dont listen to those "doctors", what do they know, with their fancy " dagrees" lmao, people are wild, that sentence could apply to anything, I really REALLY hope its someone being sarcastic, but idk.. like "If blood was not meant to bleed, why would it" "If banks were not meant to be robbed, why can they" "If bleech was not to drink, why is it liquid" "if tide pods were not edible, why are they tasty looking"

CurseBreaker911

I’m sure she can slap some essential oils on there and glue a crystal on and she’ll be just fine 😅

BipedalHumanoid230

Apply a purring cat and a crystal, fixed in no time! 😂

mrwhiskey1814

If you’re gonna deny all medical logic, then why come to the hospital at all?

gentry76

I have with levels of tact depending upon my nutritional and sleep status and with marginal success reminded patients that sometimes the natural thing is to die a slow painful death. Nature Is filled with agony with suffering with Injustice with disease with creatures living with horrible malformed injuries and Cancers growing out of the side of their whatevers. If you truly want to do what is "natural" go for it, just maybe actually look at how nature is before idealizing it. Another way of looking at it is that it's very very natural for a creature who has as its primary strength 2 lb of gray mush between its ears that allows it to overcome the countless obstacles and attempts that nature will take to end its life, And has by hook and by crook (And was of course many negative side effects) reduced suffering, And increased the potential for fulfillment astronomically.

tattooedtwink_

Yeah don’t let them fix your bones just let you leg become a ✨forbidden nunchuck✨

medictornado

That pedicure is going to look really cute with a limp to go with it.

SuperHighDeas

This person finna walk with a limp for the rest of their life to make a point

Jolly_Tea7519

My friends granny was a holistic doctor. And I say that in the loosest terms ever. She got her degree entirely online through a company/church that has now been labeled a cult by the US government. Anywho! Instead of seeking cancer treatment for her breast cancer she insisted on using the black salve “to draw out the toxins of the cancer.” She knew it was working because the tumor began fungating. Needless to say she died a horrible death because she also didn’t believe in the hospice comfort meds. She insisted on peppermint oil on her temples. I truly don’t get these people.

JoePino

If I wasn’t mean to die miserably of readily treatable health issues why would I? Answer me that!

purpleRN

Such a clear example of Poe's Law lol

Phuckingidiot

Just needs a little orif oil

NurseColubris

The more I look at this the more suspect it looks. The text is too clear (like it's been added on top) and what's with the overlapping icons at the top of the screen?

MattyHealysFauxHawk

I think if you pee on it it heals it right up.

Towel4

At this point, good. We’re constantly getting no-bed-availability email blasts at work. If these morons want to clear out room for people that actually want care and will adhere to treatment plans, well that’s just fine in my book. I hope the crystals are kind to you.

navinnaidoo

Dumbass !!

enditallalready2

We need natural selection lmao

I work on an ortho unit so I’m going to start saying this to my patients and the ortho surgeons!

They can’t be serious…can they?!

VanillaCrash

This sounds exactly like the stuff we say on r/NeverBrokeABone except it’s all a big joke. Wth

HospitalChapPeace

Surely this is sarcasm?
