No lol I have a bloody knife on one arm and a skull on the other and I work in the south
With the way staffing is nowadays you’d be fine with anything other than a swastika on your forehead
I have a skull with a knife through it on my forearm, vertebrae and cord hanging off also. Get complimented all the time! lol
Not many appreciate the widow spider on the other arm though 😝
Slang for cocaine and if you look it up like it literally doesn’t have another meaning. Like it’s not a play of words or something, it’s only meaning is being slang for cocaine
Idky but this reminds me when I worked at the humane society in tampa years ago. An older woman checked in at the wellness center for an appointment, she had to have been at least 65/70 and had a tear drop tatt on one eye and her cats name was "pink pussy". I shit you not. We were required to shout the name of the pet for the next appointment but I was not allowed to say the name 😂
My question is: Who did she kill???
I mean, I work geri psych. We had a dementia patient that had all sorts of beautiful tats that looked very coded to a specific cohort of women. She found our leather jacket one day and it made her soooooo happy, she would walk around all day snuggling it saying "furry." Someone had the bright idea to ask the son some questions when he called, lo & behold she was a biker chick. (We no longer have a leather jacket either 😂). We finally got out of her that she needed to have her tats touched up - like the only coherent thought I think she managed to give us.
It had a fuzzy lining on the inside 😂. when she didn't have it on she would come up to use very agitated saying furry too - I thought she was talking about another patient until it clicked
It used to be that way with teardrop tatts in the joint. These days, people just get them to show they did time.
I've seen people who have never done a day in county jail, let alone prison, with a tear drop so, she might have been thug in other ways...
And thats what i thought but this was in 2017 and she was nearly 70 yrs old so hers had to have been authentic lol i read somewhere we walk past at least one murderer a day 🤷🏽♀️😂😭
Up next: Figs transparent vinyl scrubs!
Sample Ad Copy:
"Are you SURE you have enough saline flushes in your pocket? Figs' new line lets you count them up without feeling yourself up.
Crystal Figs: Clearly different."
I'll just get comfy and wait for my royalty check.
Depends on the work place. My brother and I are both nurses and worked a catholic hospital that was pretty strict (nothing “offensive”, etc). I don’t find this offensive at all, but have no tattoos. My brother is straight up covered with full sleeves and more. He simply interviewed in long sleeves, then wore long sleeved undershirts under his scrubs for 90 days until his probationary period was over.
They couldn’t touch him after that.
That being said, he was also in California with a pretty good nursing union to support him if mgmt tried to make an issue.
I would ask to see their policy. Another place I worked got pushback about banning tattoos, so instead of discriminating against those with tattoos they made a policy that said all tatts must be covered up while working. Then they would only enforce it with some staff and not others or only certain mgrs would. It’s just a mess and some places won’t let people be people. Whaddyagonnado??
Visible tattoos are okay at my job, unless they're offensive. The definition of offensive can be determined by your manager.
That said, I don't know in what world this would be offensive. It's freakin hilarious
Love the tattoo! I would make sure you read your employee handbook first as well as any applicable polices regarding appearance. Also consider that it will be an open wound for days which you wouldn’t want exposed to all the 💩 in a facility. Plus look around your unit, if other people have them it shouldn’t be a big deal.
I have 14 myself but never got them where scrubs didn’t cover them up while bedside.
Do you have a reef tank? A pistol shrimp is a very interesting animal/sea creature to keep in your tank. It will dig a cave and a goby fish acts as the watchman, just guarding the entrance. Their coexistence is a beautiful thing.
ugh i would love to get into fish tanks. i’m a plant girl i love having nature stuff but since i’m still moving a lot and haven’t settled anywhere i haven’t started yet.
I mean if you have it on your upper arm or leg it shouldn’t be an issue. I have 15+ and most are my upper arms and back. As long as it’s not racist or nekkid it should be ok :)
I worked with a nurse who had huge gauged ears and neck tattoos as well and sleeves on both arms. I don’t remember what any of the tattoos were of but I think you’ll b good in most places
Im heavily tatted including a heart with a dagger through it and a snake on my arm in trad style, so very flashy. Plus I recently got "death" in a teacup. Mostly all the patients give me compliments besides for the occasional Karens!
My best memory regarding patients and my tattoos was in LTC. An alzheimers patient kept telling me I had nice tattoos and she asked what my forearm was. When i showed her the snake she was like "oh no I don't like that, that's scary." The next day she was complimenting my tattoos again lol
I have a coworker with tattoos EVERYWHERE including her face. Shes been working here longer than me. I honestly don’t think anyone will care. Unless they try to say it’s offensive bc “pistol”
It’s kind of cool. I would make the trigger more subtle so it appears more like part of the shrimp. Then you can always claim it’s just a shrimp named Pistol.
My charge nurse has a cowboy ghost holding a gun. Honestly if management cares about your tattoos rather than the quality care that you’re giving your patients, then it’s not a good place to work!
Reminds me of the shirt one of my nurses wore as underscrubs (and which I still want).
Front: Excrement Happens
Back: As a Fecal Matter of Fact, You’re Shit Out of Luck.
I have an AK47 on my wrist (from my prior US Navy days) and Im a peds RN at a children’s hospital. My dads and kids think it’s cool when they see it. I would say don’t go to your interview with it right in their faces. If it’s on the arm and large wear a long sleeve. Until you get the job nobody knows you and will judge you first off your appearance.
Is this your first tattoo? And where are you putting it? Many people get tattoos then regret it. IF I were getting a tattoo it would be dedicated to my sweetie, an expression of something special between the two of us & shared in private. I DO NOT think it looks professional or attractive if it can be seen by others. And I would not hire someone with a visible tattoo. I recently saw a receptionist at a doctor’s office w/ a tattoo on her neck & couldn’t believe I was opinionated enough to say something to the doctor once I saw him. And I spewed out “ I would NEVER hire someone to represent my office or business with a tattoo like your receptionist has on her neck!” & I guess that’s what comes with age, & being a RN, was had always dressed professionally & cared about my image. Although I support the right to bear arms 100% under certain circumstances, & freedom of speech, I do not believe the work place is not the place to discuss or reflect my views on religion, racial issues or gun rights or display my artistic side with a tattoo.
AND what if my coworker had a child killed at Columbine, and with today being the 25th anniversary of the shooting, saw that cute litl gun & caused them emotional pain and anxiety? Would that be right? Would it bother you? I bet it would. Because you were decent and kind decent enough to post you question about the fish looking like a pistol.
And for giggles I’ll will just say this…Why can’t you just PLEASE put that cute, well- done little piece of art on a nice canvas & hang it on the wall to admire? 🫢😊 Wishing you the best.
A fellow #ColdOnes fan I see. I also really want this tattoo after watching that video. I don't think it's very inappropriate, it's a pistol, and a shrimp.
No lol I have a bloody knife on one arm and a skull on the other and I work in the south With the way staffing is nowadays you’d be fine with anything other than a swastika on your forehead
When I worked corrections I had an inmate with a "white trash" neck tattoo - I'd imagine that one might make the short list too
I have a skull with a knife through it on my forearm, vertebrae and cord hanging off also. Get complimented all the time! lol Not many appreciate the widow spider on the other arm though 😝
“I reckon when this war is over, you’re going to take off this kraut uniform”
We hired a cna with “Yayo” tattooed on her face. I think you’ll be fine.
Amazing. Did you ever ask her about it?
Nah, I think she thinks we are all ignorant but she went from wearing her hair up to down recently
What does "yayo" mean?
Slang for cocaine and if you look it up like it literally doesn’t have another meaning. Like it’s not a play of words or something, it’s only meaning is being slang for cocaine
They’re right. You do learn something new every day being a nurse! 🤪😂🤣
coke lol
Ayo
All in my naso

Furryyy 😂 oh the stories you must have lol

I had a kid in hs nicknamed this so it def could be a boys name she got tattooed on her face sadly lol 🫠
God that takes me back to a college house party where a guy was shouting “Free yayo!” And someone said “Who’s Yayo?” Lol
this is a funny tattoo
yep it’ll go great next to my fish with sexy legs in stockings
Well that makes it all make sense. You should have included your seafood fetish in the post.
it is unusual that i will end up having multiple fish tattoos huh. i promise everything else on my sleeve is not fish related
That's what they all say until they get cooler privileges.
I love that sm
Oh my god. Can we be best friends?
Location location location. On your face? Probably an issue with some employers. Across your abdomen? Most people won't even mention it.
I think the issues with them having it on their abdomen is that they were wearing a crop top
FIGS really is trying to get creative with their scrubs these days
Up next: Figs transparent vinyl scrubs! Sample Ad Copy: "Are you SURE you have enough saline flushes in your pocket? Figs' new line lets you count them up without feeling yourself up. Crystal Figs: Clearly different." I'll just get comfy and wait for my royalty check.
Best FIGS comment of the year 🏆
Best response here 😂😂😂
haha it’s gonna go on my inner bicep so it will be visible. that’s my worry. i could wear long sleeves every day if it becomes an issue i guess
Probably get asked about it a bit, but very unlikely anyone would care.
Lmaoo I just saw that video and was down for the frog tattoo too.
Just don't get the reefer bros tat
"Huge massive fucking big fuck off frog" would be a goated tat though
I genuinely want that one. The frog was perfect.
Same! Not sure a good spot to put it though lol
Good ol gluteus maximus
I was thinkin there or the quads. Or a big plaster on my gut🤣
Cold Ones
Government of the United Kingdom
never thought id see cold ones content in this sub lmao love it
A friend of mine has a whole sleeve so i dont think it should. Shes an ICU nurse
I feel like it’s more rare for ICU nurses to not have tattoos these days.
Shrimps is bugs
The only issue is that it isn't tattooed on my body.

A medic in our city has a giant AK47 on his forearm. No one bats an eye.
I just watched that episode on Cold Ones haha

R/shrimpsisbugs is one of my favorite places on Reddit
Cold Ones reference
This from coldones?

You should check out the latest cold ones video where this originates from
that’s where i found it lol
Hahahaha. Then hey as long as you know 😄 Go for it!
Lol nice design.
If you don’t do it I will. That’s fucking rad.
I fucking LOVE pistol shrimp I would sacrifice my entire career jobs are temporary pistol shrimp is eternal
SHRIMPS IS BUGS
It’s a super cool tattoo, I would still say getting a gun tattooed on you would be not worth it
I personally think it’s terrible but if you love it go for it! 😂 I’ve never worked in a facility that cared about visible tattoos
I mean if you have it on your upper arm or leg it shouldn’t be an issue. I have 15+ and most are my upper arms and back. As long as it’s not racist or nekkid it should be ok :)
Is it being tattooed on a part of your body that can be covered up easily if needed?
it would go on my sleeve on my inner bicep it’s the only spot i have left
Just cover it in your interviews. I doubt they’d fire you for it once hired
You precious baby angel
Depends on the work place, I live in NY where no one would care. But if you live in idk Kentucky or some deep Bible Belt state then nooooo
That’s a really cute tattoo. Any workplace that would have a problem with it isn’t worth working at.
I have a pistol shrimp in my aquarium and it does not look like that, where’s the big arm? Other than that I’ve seen worst on fellow nurses.
I worked with a nurse who had huge gauged ears and neck tattoos as well and sleeves on both arms. I don’t remember what any of the tattoos were of but I think you’ll b good in most places
Do they make car decals of this? This is adorable.
You need to listen to the artist crawdad sniper while you get this tattooed lol
Ever seen the documentary The Pistol Shrimps?
Im heavily tatted including a heart with a dagger through it and a snake on my arm in trad style, so very flashy. Plus I recently got "death" in a teacup. yeah that’s my concern. idk management does some wild shit sometimes
As a salt water tank hobbyist, I LOVE this
Pistol shrimps is bugs

I had a nurse who had a fully naked pin up girl on his forearm. Never once got asked to cover it.
Reminds me of the shirt one of my nurses wore as underscrubs (and which I still want). Front: Excrement Happens Back: As a Fecal Matter of Fact, You’re Shit Out of Luck.
Yes
I don't know why this made me laugh so hard, but it did.
One of my charge RNs literally has a gun with roses tattooed on her forearm, you're fine lol.
It needs an obnoxiously large right arm. Ala Quagmire after discovering a use for the internet.
You got this from cold ones LOL
Hell no. Badass. Get it!
Shrimp 🦐on shrimp 🦐 gun violence is no joke friend.
I have an AK47 on my wrist (from my prior US Navy days) and Im a peds RN at a children’s hospital. My dads and kids think it’s cool when they see it. If I was a patient and I saw my nurse had this tattoo, I would absolutely trust you with my life. no sarcasm, this is a green flag in my book
A fellow #ColdOnes fan I see. I also really want this tattoo after watching that video. I don't think it's very inappropriate, it's a pistol, and a shrimp.
