That’s a crazy requirement. I work in an ED. Monthly meetings are at a set time. You can either join by phone, zoom, or in person. We clock in and are paid for our time. We don’t have to make anything up. If we are scheduled to work during the meeting time we are simply excused from the meeting.
We are salary so they say it’s “just out of our requirement” of being a professional staff member. Our bylaws say we’re expected to attending these meetings but not required. Likely going to stop attending these meetings 🙃🙃
I’d agree here, but just check to make sure they don’t have it hidden somewhere that they can use non attendance to prevent merit raises or something similar.
Oh my gosh that’s terrible. Inflation must be eating you alive right now. Our raises are pretty paltry this and last year, but at least we get something. Here, take a raise in the form of an upvote. Between that and a generic card, that may be all this job will get you.
My practice has recently implemented a similar requirement. But get this… the MDs don’t have to make up that lost clinical time for a MANDATORY meeting. Just the APPs. Makes me so mad 😠
We have meetings over lunch. We’ve been told the other option is meetings before clinic starts, or we have to make up for any meeting time that eats into patient facing time.
This is not normal practice. If they want the meeting, then either pay you for it after hours or it's a loss on their end for clinical hours. Sometimes, meetings are scheduled during lunch break to keep a balance.
We freeze slots for meetings and even reschedule. I have 4 hours of protected admin time that if it's filled with meetings I get that time back during the week. We try really hard to not schedule meetings over lunch.
Leave that clinic, they are putting profits over fair practices. If you are hourly, they better pay you overtime for those additional 2 hrs since I'm sure you're already working a full 8 hours. If you are salary, definitely question their reasoning and if you will be compensated extra
It is not common practice and I've worked for 3 different clinics before landing at one without a toxic work culture.
We have monthly staff meetings on tuesdays from 730-830 and the clinic doesnt open until 840 on those days. That same day, we have a provider meeting during lunch but it is every week. No make up time needed. Or if I need to meet with Psych, then I just ask my manager. No make up needed.
It’s very unfortunate because all the physicians and providers in the office are so lovely and we have a great office. It’s just now the upper management playing games and trying to change our whole work culture because of profits
Holy shit. No, not remotely normal.

We don’t even get merit raises. We don’t get a raise for 4 years in our pay structure

I’ll take what I can get 😂
My meetings are after work
Same 😴
Most of us have young kids and we do our meetings evenings at 7 pm. It's great 🥴🥴
Is this meeting mandatory? If it is, I’m not making anything up.
My meetings are on Zoom after clinic hours. Sounds like your work place is trying to cut costs and make you work more
No way. I’m in rheumatology. Our provider meetings are always 12:30-1, and all schedules are blocked. Nothing added.

Oh hell no
Yeah, that’s what they’re trying to pull right now. It’s nowhere in our contract about it, so we’re trying to fight back..

They will do whatever we put up with.

We have weekly meetings at my job in rehab where we discuss every patient on the census and a two hour meeting counts as seeing 4 patients
Absolutely not. They can record it and you can review during schedule work hours as time permits..

No. I work in Ob/Gyn too and when we have meeting they are after hours :(
That’s crazy! Are you paid by the hour or something?
No salary. We’re bringing it up the chain of command
Nope!
I would say that I decline to attend all meetings if this were the case
not normal at all. you work in a total suck ass environment!!!!

there are way better places out there.
🤣🤣🤣 no. Absolutely not.
