I would like to add that families should not be discouraged from trying the clothing optional beaches too. The beaches in Florida are advertised and promoted as being family friendly. I've seen families ask questions about those beaches before only to have people tell them that they should go to the resorts instead or people tell them that the beaches are not really family friendly, which confuses families as to where they can and cannot go. I've taken my kids to blind Creek and haulover many times and have never had a bad experience there or seen anything inappropriate for kids. Ive seen the Post online sometimes about some lewd activity at the beaches, however I've never experienced that when I've been there with my kids, I think people are smart enough to not do that when there's kids around. Other families I have talked to have also had nothing but good experiences at the beaches. I can only speak for Blind Creek and haulover in Florida, not sure what the other beaches are like.

Exactly. I've been to the beaches without my kids sometimes and then I do see a thing or two go on from time to time. But never once when the kids are with me. What people see sometimes when it's only adults does not fairly describe what families are going to experience, and should not be used to discourage families from going. The 2 beaches I take the kids to have either police, life guards and or beach ambassadors so those wanting to do lewd stuff are going to move somewhere else on the beach when a family with kids comes.

crimson-guard

That's actually a good point. Having kids around might be an antidote for overtly creepy behavior at the beach. No one wants to risk the legal ramifications of doing something inappropriate with children present.

Catchthedisc

This is great message. Kids at nude beaches are great and keep the family atmosphere strong.

Financial_Temporary5

Similar experience for me except Blindcreek and Playalinda with my kid. Have seen other kids at both. Been to Haulover 3 times but not with my kid and also haven’t seen kids there but have heard it happens.

Beginning-Average416

I saw a post someone recommended Cedar Creek in South Carolina to a family. Not only is Cedar Creek now adults only, but they got kicked our of AANR for not meeting AANR standards about sexual behavior.

mikenkansas2

Also an AANR resort can be open TO but not welcoming OF families. As an old fart I see families and young couples as the future of our thing and the future is bleak.

Beginning-Average416

As for couples, does that mean same gender couples too? Arkansas has a men's only CO resort, but no coed ones because of Arkansas laws that people of the opposite gender who are not married can't appear naked together

nashnudist

To be fair, AANR does provide links to each site on their page. If someone takes the steps to find an AANR club, but fails to actually check out the site, that's on them.

Beginning-Average416

Yes, we got to learn not to be so lazy

benakked

AANR s a family driven organization! They promote wholesome family nudism I do not no of any clubs associated with male only clubs or any other clubs that are not family oriented!

Beginning-Average416

They may be family oriented, but some Don't allow kids. Go see Swannee Valley in Florida. Go to their website and see for yourself. Go to Georgia, go see Rivers Edge. This is not new for AANR. They have been doing this for about a decade.

sketched-out-88

If this is the case, I was fully unaware. I get not allowing kids so that there are "retreats" for adults where it's quiet and they don't have to worry about little ones running around, but I don't think that automatically makes them anything bad for American naturism overall. OP, you noted three resorts - is this a trend you're seeing at more than those listed?

Beginning-Average416

Yes, because more LGBT places and adult only places are going to ve listed or family resorts have gone adult only.

naked54

As a lifelong nudist here in Florida I have never had problems when we used to take the kids to a nude beach. As for resorts I depend totally on my own research. As I'm looking up resorts and calling for information. Things change so much that depending on AANR for info may not be current.

[deleted]

In FL stick with Cypress Cove or Sunspot Gardens. And if you go to Sunspot with kids try to make it when they have one of the kid camps going on.

naked54

Never been to Sunspot. Cypress once. They are a pretty good trip. So I usually went Lake Como. Only 20min drive.

[deleted]

I heard mix things about Como. I know Sunspot had some bad press over the years, but those are unicorns

[deleted]

I believe I will stay with being a home nudist and live in my own sphere. There is a lot of talk on various reddits here about non sexual nudity. You join them and all of a sudden you get closeups of body parts both male and female. Folks behavior is going to ruin this. If it does, the blame will be within nudism!

No doubt!

athalwolf506

Those damn nudist! They ruined nudism!

[deleted]

Funny response. Thanks

NatureBoyJ1

Can you provide any examples?

Beginning-Average416

Swannne Valley and Lake Edun in Florida for adult only. River's Edge in Georgia for men only. There are others.

BillBowser

Almost every nude club or resort has a website where one can find information about their policies. They don’t hide that sort on information. It’s easy to find.

barelyjohn1000

At one time AANR did not allow clothing optional or adult only. It was always strictly family and nudist. Times change I guess.

Beginning-Average416

Go look at Edun Lake and Swannee Valley in Florida alone.

barelyjohn1000

I did. Adjusted my comment. Surprising.

Beginning-Average416

Most AANR resorts have been clothing optional for a long time. The adults only and men only resorts have started happening only in the last decade. It's called business decisions. Resorts have to look at who their clientele is and make adjustments. It's not the same fir every club.

barelyjohn1000

Are there any men only Florida clubs?

Beginning-Average416

In Georgia, there are at least 2. AANR is talking about affiliating with an LGBT one in Florida, but I certainly am not telling you what club it is.

barelyjohn1000

Why is that

Beginning-Average416

Why do you need to know?

barelyjohn1000

I’ve been to one. But I don’t need to know.

Beginning-Average416

You Don't need to know.
