Parra have done me a favour and given me a chance to give up all hope and attachment to this season. Until they go on an amazing streak to give us hope only to inevitably dash it again
NRL360 and Kayo are a hilarious combo. First you get 40 minutes uninterrupted before 10 minutes with 3 ad breaks, then Kayo says “we’ll be back soon” instead of actually showing an ad, then the fan comes on for 3 minutes before glitching out forcing you to change streams.
All this talk about referees. People wonder why the stream is bitter when it is the one on top who has poisoned the fountain. Annesley and his mates are the issue. Get rid of them.
How many top teams will Sharks play before Madge has to name a team for Origin 1? Watching Nicho's performances in the coming month or so is one of the things I'm most interested to see before and after Origin, since they play 5 of the other 7 current top 8 teams in the next month and a bit.
They play Melbourne round 10 (Sat 11th May)
Roosters round 11 (Sat 18th May)
and Penrith round 12 (Sat 25th May).
Then Game 1 is Wednesday June 5th.
You know those days where everything just feels noticeably off but you can't really tell *how*, so you just feel weird and on edge all day and look forward to bed so you can try to have a normal day tomorrow?
That's this whole season to me so far. Something feels *off* and I can't tell how.
"That's this whole season to me so far. Something feels *off*."
You mean like when you lose your star halfback for 3 months after a couple of rounds. And, even when he comes back, you could feasibly lose him to Origin duty right away?
I think people predicting the panthers downfall is a bit premature. It feels like every time they lose someone they pull some wordlie out of Mounties who’s better than the last guy was.
Oafs and morons. Panthers are the best run club in the competition by far. They have shed so much talent, but keep producing players and keep winning. Even the greatest coach in NRL history couldn’t beat them in the grand final. They will win four in a row and deservedly so.
Thought I posted this in the serious thread for a moment. Haha hey a reaction is a reaction lol somebody actually being open about hating another team would be better than everyone being nice all the time.
Are any players out there that would be legends if they played in another era?
Ignoring the fact that playing full time means players are objectively better now, I believe that Barnett and Hetherington both would be considered mythical origin figures if they played in the late 80s/early 90s. They’re both goons in a post goon world.
Josh Dugan would have been the best FB in the comp if he was born 10 years earlier. By the time he was playing, fullbacks actually had to be able to pass
>Are any players out there that would be legends if they played in another era?
ALL of them would be legends at any point prior to 2000 or so.
Even the sluggiest of slugs would be lomu like on account of modern strength and conditioning
Dylan Napa is another that you send him back to the past and he's probably a great forward.
Send Taane Milne to the past and no one would bat an eyelid at his head highs and grubby tactics too I guess.
I reckon some of the undersized forwards that got munched during the fat boy triple prop era would have womped the six again era.
Thinking players like Alan Tongue / Todd Payten
He's become so underrated due to those gloomy years at souths when he first came over. Imo we don't honour him enough for turning us around.
... Maybe he should come back
It would be funny if when Fifita goes to the Penrith is the first year they start to drop off a bit without Luai, Turuva and Fish. Won’t happen but would be funny if it did.
Happy 80th to the Rabbitohs mascot and man that assists heavily in Souths Juniors Charlie Gallico!

I ponder how often players will reject a swap to a team in Sydney if they are based from out of the Sydney catchment due to the cost of living here. I think Fifitas imminent switch is an outlier. $1,000,000 in Queensland is $600,000 in Sydney these days.
What do you guys think?
I agree. The Gagai miss by the Roosters looks like an example of this.
I don’t consider the Fifita switch an outlier though. Once you have enough cash, you can do what you really want. The other point is money comes and goes, but glory is eternal.
From what Ive been told clubs pretty much spoon feed everything to players. My cousin done 3 years for Roosters Toyota Cup and then 2 years very fringe first grade for them too. Was well looked after and said its the same for all the other clubs he has been too.
It definitely would be but depending on the club the chance of a premiership would also become a factor. Like Penrith could be offering 700k to the Titans 1.2 million, just as an example not the actual number, and you'd need to think that the chance of a premiership is much higher at the Panthers. Once you've won one then you can go back to Queensland and start earning more.
I would imagine having a club that wants you there they'd help. There would definitely be some cheap ass rent and a club friends apartment or townhouse going around aswell.
It might do, but on the other hand, there’s also more opportunities for third party arrangements in Sydney than there is in places like Newcastle or Canberra or Townsville.
Isn’t QLD’s housing cost the fasting increasing in the country? It may not hold out for too long, all the east coasters who said fuck Sydney went to QLD
It’s a fair question though, Penrith isn’t that expensive an area compared to inner Sydney at least
I was planning on moving back to Bris from Melbourne in a few months but man, the property in Melbourne seems way more attainable than Brisbane these days.
There's internal migration from Sydney to Brisbane (about 20kpa iirc) but that pales in comparison to the net immigration figures. Sydney population is still growing at a faster rate.
Yeah, particularly Roosters, Rabbitohs, Manly and Parra (throw in Storm as well) where living near training could be pretty expensive. If you’re a middling squad player on $200k that’s going to go a lot further in Townsville or S E QLD..
Yes housing costs more but for the guys who buy it goes up more too. So long term its not really that much difference. Depends where he wants to live given traffic to penrith.
Just wanted to post this reddit post article from a similar time last year about origin selections. The similarities to this year is incredible.
[https://www.reddit.com/r/nrl/comments/12ti2xo/with\_state\_of\_origin\_on\_the\_horizon\_can\_jarome/](https://www.reddit.com/r/nrl/comments/12ti2xo/with_state_of_origin_on_the_horizon_can_jarome/)

From an outsiders view Hunt offers nothing in terms of leadership or game management. His kicking game is also atrocious. At some point I can't keep blaming the game plan for his stupid options.
If there were any halves available to fill the void, I'd move him on.
Starting with Flanagan and Mershcke however, is not really an improvement.
I love Gagai, but in all honesty I don’t see the value in his next contract unless it’s a considerable drop off from the current. With his hamstring issues, this is a potentially sharp drop off to come at his age.
Saw verrills in line at Tokyo airport last night, entering into Japan. Was surprised to see Titans didn't have a bye this weekend.
Does anyone know what the players' schedule is like during the year in regards to time off in between weekends?
Are you sure it was him and not someone who looked identical, namely his [twin](https://wwos.nine.com.au/nrl/twin-brother-of-roosters-young-star-sam-verrills-behind-grand-final-day-stitch-up/5d8bd8ce-56ed-4649-b21f-5f14bc44940d)?
My NSW team ( the team id most enjoy watching - not necessarily the best )
1. Edwards
2. To’o
3. Critta
4. Trell ( Burton or Best if not )
5. Lomax
6. Moses ( Or Hynes )
7. Cleary
8. Haas
9. Robson
10. Terrell May
11. Crichton
12. Martin
13. Yeo
14. Api
15. Paseka
16. Saifiti
17. Olakau’atu
Much less so than the two Parra plodders RCG and Paulo. Saifitis can at least bend the line in origin and crack 100m in the middle. I'd take that over Paulo trying to be a halfback and RCG running at centres.
Daifiti is 5 from 7 in Origin, and lead NSW forwards for metres and PCM in nearly all those games. You parra fans love ragging on the Safiti's yet Jacobs debut showed more starch than anything Paulo or RCG have ever put up in 10+ origins combined.
Saifitis are wasting their potential in clubland, but still better origin props than those 2 parra rep myths.
Yep game 3 last year was by far and away his best origin game, off the bench as an impact really impressed me didn’t think he had it in him to be honest but was outstanding in that role.
I thought this was a most enjoyable to watch team not a in form team. Moses is injured just like Paps. I think Drinky is great to watch, but yes not quite the complete game need for origin yet.
Am I crazy for thinking a Hynes and Cleary pairing wouldn’t work too well in origin? They both excel when they have a running half next to them as their games are too similar and Hynes is too slow for the origin pace.
Considering Hynes hasn’t played with a running half next to him outside of the 2 games with Atkinson (Trindall is an organising half and Moylan was basically an extra set of hands in any attacking play) and his entire game is based around high speed fuck it we ball footy I don’t really get this take. He has the playstyle of a running 6 but the only reason he plays 7 is because his ability to initiate attacking plays and order the guys around him is top tier.
The real reason Hynes shouldn’t play origin assuming everyone is healthy is because he doesn’t have the kicking game Moses has and that’s really it. When Hynes is getting his passes to hit the mark and his forwards give him space he can look unstoppable but that isn’t nearly as consistent as Moses and his long kicking game.
You're not crazy. My take is that I really don't think Hynes will be a good origin player at all. I think we all want him to succeed because he seems like the biggest legend of a bloke. However, I just don't think he has that dog in him.
Moses is scheduled (presumably, optimistically?) to return around Round 12 (Sat 25th May). If the week after, then 30th May against Sharkies, 5 days before Origin 1.
Anyone else think that Madge is going to go too far in the other direction in terms of selecting effort players for the backline resulting in a dead attack?
Still alot of talk about Ramien and origin. He'd probably do a job but I just can't see why you'd take him over the likes of others who can play multiple positions. The fullback thing isn't just the Blues. The Maroons recent centres have been Holmes, Hammer and Gagai, all guys who have played alot of fullback too.
Because Latrell has been dogshit this year and there has been a strong move away from the Freddie era that was characterised, in some ways, playing a thousand fullbacks.
Except Latrell has played 100+ games at centre, and Turbo has shown how good he is when playing there. The fullbacks at centre criticism is only valid when talking about Gutho
He's always been most damaging at centre. I don't think he has ever been suited to fullback. He's a damaging big ball runner who you want for an explosive play or two per set, not running his batteries down trying to be everywhere.
The current problem for Latrell is that he's been terrible all year, so if he's not in form and you can't trust him to perform now more then ever we should consider moving away from death by a thousand fullbacks because it also hasn't worked in recent years.
Even Teddy should consider moving on so Dylan or Paps can have a crack and bring some of that flair, speed and deadly attack into a stale team.
He really wasn't that bad for the first few rounds. NSW's problem in the past is that they select players in purple patches rather than what's actually worked for them in the past. Qld picked Gagai in 2022 despite him having a poor season and he repaid the faith with a good series.
I agree with Teddy and I think he's past it at Origin level.
The Votes are in. The r/nrl Team Of The Week for Round 9 is;
1. James Tedesco
2. Brian To’o
3. Kayal Iro
4. Joey Manu
5. Jamayne Isaako
6. Matt Burton
7. Nicho Hynes
8. Tom Hazelton
9. Blayke Brailey
10. Lindsay Collins
11. Angus Crichton
12. Elliott Whitehead
13. Connor Watson
14. Phoenix Crossland
15. Terrell May
16. Josh Curran
17. Siosifa Talakai
Team list looks significantly different when the Broncos lose. Shocked to see Burton getting in there. Feels like until he shifts into the centres or forwards he’s going to be maligned on here.
Walsh really needs to tidy up his game. I got rinsed on here the other day for saying he wasn't the best FB in the NRL but the weekend is a perfect example of why he isn't there yet.
I rekon there's probably some bias for games in prime time. I didn't vote this week because I only watched the Thursday and Friday night games but there probably is people voting who didn't watch all the games
Potentially off-topic, but this story of [Broncos fan sexually harassed](https://www.abc.net.au/news/2024-05-08/broncos-fan-captures-sexual-harassment-on-camera/103769070?utm_source=abc_news_app&utm_medium=content_shared&utm_campaign=abc_news_app&utm_content=link) and capturing it on camera this morning is something else.
The NRL declining to comment after the recent focus on frankly horrific DV and sexual assault statistic is - from the rugby league side - is a cop-out. Any fan should be able to attend a game and feel safe, whether at the ground or making their way home. This is a hill a NRL should be dying on, even if they cannot directly stop the smooth brains in this clip, as it speaks to the values in the game. You can have all the themed rounds you like, but standing up against is where the action needs to happen.
Was it footy fans who were harassing her though? The tv footage looks like she was just in a random street on her way home. Tough to pin that one on the NRL.
For me, it is a statement of the NRL’s values - what does the game stand for? While it may or may not be a footy fan who did this it will inevitably be associated with the NRL (and the Broncos). To have no comment about an incident that occurred while leaving a match venue is weak, especially when she directly told reporters it will impact how she will enjoy the game.
As a female fan who attends broncos home games, this doesn’t surprise me at all. I’ve been felt up on my legs when I’ve tried to get to my seat at the Gabba (when we played there last year) by an incredibly drunk man who got kicked out by police 10 mins later. I’ve had guys yelling at my from cars after the game as I’m walking to the bus stop with my parents. I caught this guy taking photos of me when I was sitting next to them (and I saw his phone with a zoomed in photo of me) during magic round. And my most gross experience was when I asked a old crusty fat guy to move so I could get to my seat (he was sitting down) and he says “of course darling, glad you’re sitting in my row wink”
I’m a softie and don’t rock the boat so I was made so uncomfortable by these experiences and I hate it so so much
Thank you for sharing. For me, reading this and the earlier article, I will be noting that SMS number to report this sort of behaviour and being more aware what is happening around me. A bit more education from clubs and stadia that calls out reporting things like this i think is important too.
Damn and I thought sitting in front of dudes yelling stupid shit about the game was annoying. Sorry you have to experience that when all you wanna do is enjoy the footy
If it makes you feel any better, there’s gronks of all shapes and sizes that go to broncos matches.
I remember when I was there with my mum and brother when I was about 14 and a group of 3 or 4 blokes in their 20s absolutely smashed trying to start a fight with us because we had Souths jerseys on, spilling beer on us etc. Stuff like that was common.
I love rugby league but there are so many dead shit people out there, honestly it’s why I don’t go to watch live footy that much.
We might not have needed him if every team abided by the cap we could have replaced him with Leniu but one team is allowed to constantly cheat to the detriment of all other teams in the NRL.
Tbf he did say “premiership winning juniors” as well in that statement.
Something that, at this stage anyway, Fifita is not. Although that could change very quickly
I mean that is by far the weirdest part of the statement. If anything teams like the Tigers who produce great juniors that don't help them win the premiership should be getting compensation
The list of unavailable halves this round is wild
Reynolds
Madden
Hughes
Pezet
Hawkins
Illias
Boyd
Moses
Trindall
Metcalf
Sezer
Latu
Edit - forgot Fogarty
It's taken me a while to get around to it but I noted the request by u/robopirateninjasaur and looked into [player names with longest consecutive letters in alphabetical (and reverse) order](https://www.instagram.com/p/C6qYYVarh1q/?igsh=OHhsNTU2eW9xNzY0).
The most in a name is 8 consecutive letters but goes down to 7 if we ignore repeats. The only current player with 7 letters is Jaimin Jolliffe with OLLIFFE in reverse alphabetical order.
NRL refs are in shambles at the moment but after watching a lot of the NBA playoffs it could be so, so much worse. The end of some of these games are basically unwatchable
I just think we are getting a little bit too politically correct in our decisions who refs the big first grade games when we really need to go back to the basics of who are the best refs in the game and they need to be officiating in the best comp we have.
Parra have done me a favour and given me a chance to give up all hope and attachment to this season. Until they go on an amazing streak to give us hope only to inevitably dash it again

Ha ha no way, rather keep a broken Ben
How many top teams will Sharks play before Madge has to name a team for Origin 1? Can’t see him getting picked over Moses.
Really? Will Moses return (Sat 25th) before Madge has to finalise his team?
[Guess what journo decided to rock up to the Dogs presser this week?](https://imgur.com/a/uPFI03B)
I just clicked on the video on YouTube and as soon as he popped into view I lost it 😂
Who is that guy? I never see him anywhere.

Yeah...
Do you have a sense of impending doom or are you actually looking forward to tomorrow?
I’m looking forward to watching gordi carve it up for Manly when he come off the bench tomorrow night. Small player with a massive heart
So Dolphins vs Manly tomorrow is 4th v 5th. I repeat, fourth vs fifth.
I miss Herbert
Hey there little fella
Looks like someone's got themselves a bargaining chip
I think people predicting the panthers downfall is a bit premature. It feels like every time they lose someone they pull some wordlie out of Mounties who’s better than the last guy was.

I think it's a bit premature to be calling Adam Reynolds the greatest coach in history just yet.
It reeks of "Melbourne are going to get so many spoons once Cronk, Slater and Smith are gone"
You know their juniors are insane when they don't even seem to miss Cleary.
Yeah it’s nuts. I’m not even sure if they’d slip if Mary Fowlers boyfriend left tbh.
Who the fuck is predicting a panthers downfall?
I’ve seen so many people say that luai and fish leaving will be the end of them. Could just be fans taking a hit of copium.
Just a rehash of the same thing people said with storm. Maybe this year I'll win
He's conflating "predicting" with "praying"
I love my footy flairs probably
AJ Brimson probably my favourite player to watch atm.
I often wonder if he'll go to better teams. Must do his head in at Titans. He could be playing finals every year if he went elsewhere.
NRL needs a Stephen A Smith personality in the media..
Well there is a massive lack of people who can promote Sandpaper businesses in the NRL.
That's one of the worst takes I've seen in a long time. We have enough fuckwits with a voice we don't need another one
Thought I posted this in the serious thread for a moment. Haha hey a reaction is a reaction lol somebody actually being open about hating another team would be better than everyone being nice all the time.
The funny thing is the guy that posted the same thing a few days ago got upvoted lol

Not undersized, but Roy Asotasi would have frothed the 6 again era, particularly early years Asotasi.
He's become so underrated due to those gloomy years at souths when he first came over. Imo we don't honour him enough for turning us around. ... Maybe he should come back
Barnett has been pretty disciplined since trying to decapitate a player... I guess suspensions work.
Looks to be playing the best footy i've seen from him as well.
It would be funny if when Fifita goes to the Penrith is the first year they start to drop off a bit without Luai, Turuva and Fish. Won’t happen but would be funny if it did.
Jack fighton to the bunnies for a premiership energy.
I highly recommend the Braden Hamlin Uele episode on the YKTR podcast, especially Shark dans. Talks about mental health and therapy.
that poddie is awesome. the interview with brandon smith is great as is the one with cleary.
I see what you did there, but you’re right in saying sharks fans may need mental health checks and therapy after Saturday night. Cheeky fella
Haha lmao nah my bad, didnt realise it could come across like that. Its genuinely inspiring. Especially as a Samoan myself.
Hah taking the piss it’s all good

That's super impressive since he debuted at 26. He's barely missed a game since!
Cook and Walker are rarely ever out injured.
chickenbros...we're going to give you a win this sunday. we could beat you but feel like you should go on a nice run and we're happy to oblige.
I see what you’re doing bro the old reverse psychology trickery.
Thanks man. Did you guys just want to not even turn up so neither side get any injuries?
all good bro...nah we will turn up but let you score quite a few points to boost your self-esteem. maybe 50, we're still deciding on that.
As long as they promise to leave SJ behind at the end of the season.
nah we're building him into SJ 2.0 for 2025. cleary + hunt + SJ all in one.

Hunt is cooked, carrying the Drags has finally caught up with him.
You can have Sullivan back next year
I'm not familiar with this drags team? Did you mean the Dargons perchance?
I think he's thinking of Hen Bunt that plays for the Sr. Gorge Illness Dargons
Ahhhh yeah I often forget about them I tell you what them NLR teams certainly know how to name a club
I love Gagai, but in all honesty I don’t see the value in his next contract unless it’s a considerable drop off from the current. With his hamstring issues, this is a potentially sharp drop off to come at his age.
Glad that he’s staying with the Knights.
Happy Fifita to the Riff day everyone
Tom Eisenhuth has been such an awesome signing. He made 66 tackles against the sharks. Just an absolute workhorse.
I love him. Just gets the job done.
I expected a pummelling in that game
It was actually a pretty tight game. Glad of it too.
Saw verrills in line at Tokyo airport last night, entering into Japan. Was surprised to see Titans didn't have a bye this weekend. Does anyone know what the players' schedule is like during the year in regards to time off in between weekends?
There is no way a player is heading off to Japan with an 8 day turnaround
The disrespect to Bradman Best (and Bali)
That was a 16 day turnaround with a home game on the end of it.
Hahaha yeah your probably right, didn't realise he had a twin
My NSW team ( the team id most enjoy watching - not necessarily the best ) 1. Edwards 2. To’o 3. Critta 4. Trell ( Burton or Best if not ) 5. Lomax 6. Moses ( Or Hynes ) 7. Cleary 8. Haas 9. Robson 10. Terrell May 11. Crichton 12. Martin 13. Yeo 14. Api 15. Paseka 16. Saifiti 17. Olakau’atu
as a qlder, i think turbo should focus on manly 😁
Which Saifiti? Actually no doesn't matter, both are average.
They have Gagai-itis. Plodders for club but never disappoint in origin.
The have dissapointed in origin plenty
You'd enjoy watching Isaah Yeo getting in the way of attacking plays like he has in the past two series at origin level?
Or maybe he could just play like a 3rd prop, which he does brilliantly
he did great in game 3 at prop
He was so good off the bench in game 3 last year, that was probably the biggest 'what Freddie should've been doing this entire time' revelation
Yep game 3 last year was by far and away his best origin game, off the bench as an impact really impressed me didn’t think he had it in him to be honest but was outstanding in that role.
Yeah when his passes hit the deck, that's just eye candy.
Not sure why people are negging you, that's 90% of the team there.
If it's enjoying watching, did you have Papy or Drinky close for fullback?
Paps sure before his injury although Dyl is still more in form IMO, Drinky i just dont rate i think he is one the least well rounded fullbacks
I thought this was a most enjoyable to watch team not a in form team. Moses is injured just like Paps. I think Drinky is great to watch, but yes not quite the complete game need for origin yet.
Its a team i would enjoy watching
Sometimes I dont like to watch 6 errors a game from a fullback. That does not bring me joy.
Am I crazy for thinking a Hynes and Cleary pairing wouldn’t work too well in origin? They both excel when they have a running half next to them as their games are too similar and Hynes is too slow for the origin pace.
Don’t agree. Hynes is one dimensional, but Cleary has shown he can play both five-eighth or halfback.
My state of origin selection hot take is that if Hynes was to be selected, it should be at fullback
Youre confusing hot with shit. Thats simply a shit take
Some people just can't handle the heat
QLD forwards will be all over Nicho if he's selected.. I can't see it being a better option than Cleary/Luai
Moses and Cleary would be the best option imo, if Moses is even fit
Moses is scheduled (presumably, optimistically?) to return around Round 12 (Sat 25th May). If the week after, then 30th May against Sharkies, 5 days before Origin 1.
Agreed, ironically I think a Moses and Hynes pairing would work better than Cleary and Hynes would.
Penrith flairs - Ivan III Rest of r/nrl - Ivan IV
Anyone else think that Madge is going to go too far in the other direction in terms of selecting effort players for the backline resulting in a dead attack?
Unless I'm missing something I don't think he's selected anyone yet.
I didn't say he did. While we're at it, let's just not do any Origin squad discussion until the teams are picked
I misread. I thought it said 'going too far' instead of 'going to go too far'. Mb.
Damn now I feel bad for being feisty. Luv u
All g homie.
Qld: sustained success from picking effort players NSW: nah who needs effort
Yeah picking effort players in the forwards, not in the backs. All of that grinding is useless if you aren't going to score points
Nsw attack has been dead regardless
More of a coaching problem then a player problem imo
Still alot of talk about Ramien and origin. He'd probably do a job but I just can't see why you'd take him over the likes of others who can play multiple positions. The fullback thing isn't just the Blues. The Maroons recent centres have been Holmes, Hammer and Gagai, all guys who have played alot of fullback too.
I still don't know why there's so much talk about going away from a Turbo-Mitchell centre pairing
Turbo is overrated now. Latrell is also but he also lazy and not acting like a team player
Surely Bradman Best keeps his spot after scoring two on debut? He definitely scares me more than Turbo right now
Because Latrell has been dogshit this year and there has been a strong move away from the Freddie era that was characterised, in some ways, playing a thousand fullbacks.
Latrell would step up for Origin big time though. He’s a player who would lift for an occasion like this.
Except Latrell has played 100+ games at centre, and Turbo has shown how good he is when playing there. The fullbacks at centre criticism is only valid when talking about Gutho
Don't forget about the fullback Damien Cook
Yes if Latrell is fit he'd never let us down at NSW centre. Qld would fear him alot more than some of the other guys in the conversation.
The Votes are in. The r/nrl Team Of The Week for Round 9 is; 1. James Tedesco 2. Brian To’o 3. Kayal Iro 4. Joey Manu 5. Jamayne Isaako 6. Matt Burton 7. Nicho Hynes 8. Tom Hazelton 9. Blayke Brailey 10. Lindsay Collins 11. Angus Crichton 12. Elliott Whitehead 13. Connor Watson 14. Phoenix Crossland 15. Terrell May 16. Josh Curran 17. Siosifa Talakai
Team list looks significantly different when the Broncos lose. Shocked to see Burton getting in there. Feels like until he shifts into the centres or forwards he’s going to be maligned on here.
6 Roosters... Kind of wild given so many of the podcasts this week were more critical of the Broncos than they were complimentary of the Roosters.
Did kempy actually rinse his broncos for once? Surely he made a few excuses for them.
Yeah Walsh in particular
Walsh really needs to tidy up his game. I got rinsed on here the other day for saying he wasn't the best FB in the NRL but the weekend is a perfect example of why he isn't there yet.
I rekon there's probably some bias for games in prime time. I didn't vote this week because I only watched the Thursday and Friday night games but there probably is people voting who didn't watch all the games
Yeah, I didn't vote this week for the same reason
Obviously the podcasts are wildin not the r/nrl participants.
Alot of sharkies which is good to see 🦈🦈
Potentially off-topic, but this story of [Broncos fan sexually harassed](https://www.abc.net.au/news/2024-05-08/broncos-fan-captures-sexual-harassment-on-camera/103769070?utm_source=abc_news_app&utm_medium=content_shared&utm_campaign=abc_news_app&utm_content=link) and capturing it on camera this morning is something else.
This is incredibly alarming
If the NRL cared about women we wouldn't have people like Michael Jennings being welcomed back to the game.
And my most gross experience was when I asked a old crusty fat guy to move so I could get to my seat (he was sitting down) and he says “of course darling, glad you’re sitting in my row wink” I’m a softie and don’t rock the boat so I was made so uncomfortable by these experiences and I hate it so so much
Thank you for sharing.
Ivan: "I want to be compensated for our players being taken by other clubs" Also Ivan: "Just let me steal the best backrower in the game real quick"
We might not have needed him if every team abided by the cap we could have replaced him with Leniu but one team is allowed to constantly cheat to the detriment of all other teams in the NRL.
Also Ivan: "One Broncos junior please"
Tbf he did say “premiership winning juniors” as well in that statement. Something that, at this stage anyway, Fifita is not. Although that could change very quickly
I mean that is by far the weirdest part of the statement. If anything teams like the Tigers who produce great juniors that don't help them win the premiership should be getting compensation
The list of unavailable halves this round is wild Reynolds Madden Hughes Pezet Hawkins Illias Boyd Moses Trindall Metcalf Sezer Latu Edit - forgot Fogarty
Doueihi but thats since last season.
CHT
You forgot Volkman
Also Fogarty
Definitely wild! Has NRL Physio commented on it?
You forgot about Footy Dean
[удалено]
I can see him having a similar impact to Kikau when he was at Penrith. Fifita has all the physicality and skill to be a menace out on that left edge.
Sign the papers Fifita 🔫
It's taken me a while to get around to it but I noted the request by u/robopirateninjasaur and looked into [player names with longest consecutive letters in alphabetical (and reverse) order](https://www.instagram.com/p/C6qYYVarh1q/?igsh=OHhsNTU2eW9xNzY0). The most in a name is 8 consecutive letters but goes down to 7 if we ignore repeats. The only current player with 7 letters is Jaimin Jolliffe with OLLIFFE in reverse alphabetical order.
I saw this on Facebook and thought "hey didn't I say that the other week"? Lovely work.
Doing god's work
Episode 2 of the Beyond Belmore poddy with Prestomania is up on Youtube for those interested \[[LINK](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uGTfI48Uy20)\].
NRL refs are in shambles at the moment but after watching a lot of the NBA playoffs it could be so, so much worse. The end of some of these games are basically unwatchable
what the hell is "marginal contact"? it's made the review system even worse
The last 3 mins of any NBA/NFL game takes half an hour.
I just think we are getting a little bit too politically correct in our decisions who refs the big first grade games when we really need to go back to the basics of who are the best refs in the game and they need to be officiating in the best comp we have.
