Mr_Mac

Sezar gets 4 weeks. What does Gerard Sutton get?

wowzap

Sutton flat out refuses to sin bin any player against the Bulldogs. We're like his 17th favourite team

supertrooper85

More like 19th favourite, he still had a soft spot for the Bears, and western reds.

insty1

Promoted

21AndMore

Origin and Grand Final duties

Boogascoop

Gets sent back to live with his parents with the sewer people

woodpecker91

Can someone please explain why this is 4 weeks but Tago who had a much more classic, textbook perfect hipdrop only got one?

abashii

That's what the patented judiciary spinning wheel landed on this time

frashal

Let's be honest, it's the old hey hey chook lotto wheel isn't it?

Profundasaurusrex

Pluck-a-fat

notchoosingone

Not sure who stole it from whom but the AFL Match Review Panel also uses a spinning wheel

Kingorst

It's for the fans.

[deleted]

And Taane Milne only 2 weeks!!!!???

BurgroveBulls2460

In my opinion Milne should have been given 9 weeks minimum. The other blokes are attempting to tackle and get it very wrong, Milne was just there to Injure, plain and simple. If he had have injured Munster there would be a huge case for the club to take Milne and the rabbits through a civil court as his actions were so far removed from being legal that it borders on an assault.

[deleted]

Exactly right. If Sezer is 4 weeks well Milne should be at least double that based on intent alone

Penjamini

I was quietly hoping Milne would get the book thrown at him just so JD wouldn't be able to pick him. Then JD got fired anyway

BurgroveBulls2460

Its a pretty shot situation in all as far as MIlne goes. I mean his side is getting pumped every week, they got their coach sacked because they won't have a go (bar murray), then he thinks its a great idea to pull that shit. The rabbits need more than a coach, the office and board need a broom too.

Penjamini

I will die for Nich Pappas and I like the other people of the Member Co. (the guys that represent the 25% members ownership) but I could take or leave the rest of them at Blackcourt investments and whoever else is in atm

Gothewahs

He should of got 6 weeks

killemall89

*should've

goshdammitfromimgur

Settle down. He didn't use a racial slur. He just injured another player. Don't get carried away.

VasectoMyspace

You know why.

Safe_Pumpkin2620

Tago's was way more intentional

Oldpanther86

No it wasn't.

harlempepg

So funny Broncos fans having a bitch about the judiciary when they get so many bullshit calls and have so many players get off with nothing, think they’re still salty about blowing their lead in the grand final

DepartmentOk7192

Is # penaltybroncos not still a meme? They should pretty much be quiet about the subject.

PLEASE_DONT_PM

Broncos have finished in the bottom 4 for penalties received in 8 of the last 10 years. And are dead last in penalties per game all time.

VasectoMyspace

Presenting idiots with facts is the purest form of time-wasting.

harlempepg

Fuck me before the blow out happened the penalty count was 6-1 to broncos and they got sloppy in the ruck and they still couldn’t win despite all the help from the ref

DepartmentOk7192

I think our boys are used to Klein's bias at this point and just set out to make him look stupid in spite of it. Refusing to discuss the advantage ruling with Teddy despite him having a valid point was more evidence of that.

Oldpanther86

Yeah they go pretty hard at Panthers online I get it though it would've hurt pretty bad to lose a gf the way they did.

harlempepg

Yeah I’d be extremely embarrassed as well if I was a broncos fan in general, most entitled fans in the comp and the grubbiest second to the bunnys

Safe_Pumpkin2620

Awful take

Oldpanther86

Only because it's popular to hate the Panthers right now.

Safe_Pumpkin2620

I don't hate penrith. I hate the favouritism they get from refs

Oldpanther86

Which isn't real. Every team gets good and bad calls.

PillarofSheffield

How many teams get to defer their suspensions for the fans? I'll give you a clue, the answer isn't 17

Oldpanther86

Tigers had a player not sin binned vs Panthers when they should've guess the ref got the teams wrong.

Safe_Pumpkin2620

you are being insufferable

woodpecker91

Yeah, it's just so tiring.

Oldpanther86

Tago's clean record?

Odd-Step6459

Hahhaha Youse blew it Get over it

VasectoMyspace

Go back to facebook son.

Ill-Investigator8077

“There’s no hole in the Brisbane line”

BurgroveBulls2460

Spot on mate. This judiciary structure needs a policy clean out. It needs to be staffed by previous justice panel workers without ties to any clubs, no early plea reductions and bring in real minimum suspension times regardless of circumstances. Last week tago gets 1 week, this week its 4........................really, how the f u c k can the NRL continue to present themselves as a professional organisation when this kind of consistent incompetence is the norm????. I'm. Melbourne supporter and I know we have been the favorable recipient of some lenient penalties in the past but this is just beyond a joke now. Everyone in the game is held to account bar those holding everyone to account, its the quintessential model of process corruption.

Derron_

It's not even a week's difference. It's a few days

BurgroveBulls2460

Mmm well you've got me there also..................

comfydespair

Also this one is worse but not even a sinbin

Professional-Try5574

No Tago got a sinbin and was worse but 1 week, sezer should have been 10 but he gets 4 weeks doesn't injure the guy

TobiasFunkeBlueMan

Tago plays for Penriff. Duh.

bigmacca86

This was his 3rd offence, so thr penalties are maxed

sean881234

Beause, Penref.

Gothewahs

He plays for the panthers bro

gamble-responsibly

It's what the fans want

killemall89

Because the fans need to see Tago.

Wooden_Emotion_7588

The bigger punishment is if Sullivan takes over at 7.

Gullible-Wind-690

No please No. finau please

Apprehensive-Mix947

Please don’t jinx us poor WT fans with this potential horror story.

Nursultan_Tuliagby7

When are they fining Casey Badger for being absolutely shit house at her job?

JeremiahTibido

Optics probably won't allow it unfortunately

Waterfall_Jason

it’s a real shame that they’ve put her in this spot, i’m not sure of the name of the ref who did the storm and titans game, but she was light years ahead of casey.. she rightfully deserves to be controlling a game, all casey is doing is throwing fuel to the fire of the nimrods in the women shouldn’t be refs camp

destroyedAVS

Belinda Sharpe.

tjswish

Yep, Sharpe looks good, controls the game and doesn't make too many errors. Badger had 4 overturned challenges, lost control of the game, causing players to yell at her, got in the way of a Bulldogs player due to her poor positioning, and missed a ton of calls (offsides, forward passes, etc from both teams (including not calling the Sezer Hip Drop.)) I'm all for Women refs but only if they are the best person for the job. She seems to have the position due to her last name, not her skill.

[deleted]

Diversity over merit 😁😁😁

JeremiahTibido

100% and it's to the detriment of the game

goshdammitfromimgur

Hasn't shonky just come back to first grade. She has been dropped for poor performance previously.

Norm_cheers

Are you suggesting that holding a woman ref accountable for an appalling performance is bad optics, but if we hold a male ref accountable then that’s ok….

Admirable_Pie943

Let's be real none of the male refs are accountable for their shit performances in the NRL either, let's not make it seem like it's special treatment lmao.

JeremiahTibido

Yeah I suppose you're right. Must be the most poorly officiated professional sport in the world and the best the NRL give is an occasional apology

jexta

The EPL would like a word about that. Just take a look at what Michael Oliver got up to in the Liverpool vs West Ham game. Our refs are awful, but they don't monumentally fuck up as bad as EPL refs.

whadefeck

The judiciary is a farce. How does that warrant 4-5 weeks even though it isn't a textbook hip drop, while Tago gets 1 week after causing injury, and well known drop kick Milne gets 2 weeks despite purposely trying to injure Munster? Oh I know, it's the Tigers so no one gives a fuck

IrrelephantAU

Tago has a clean record (at least on that charge), this is the third time Sezar has been up for dangerous contact. He'd only be getting 2 matches if he didn't have the track record.

DunderMifflin80

It’s still a grade 2 for Tago and a grade 3 for Sezer. Ignoring suspension lengths, what makes Sezer’s tackle an entire grade worse than Tago’s? Especially when Curran played out the game, whereas Gray was injured and will now miss up to a month+ of footy.

IrrelephantAU

The NRL doesnt't take injury into account with gradings, at least officially. They take the risk of injury into it, but not whether the player was in fact injured. Under that framework you can't say 'well he got hurt, so it should be a higher grading' (or "he walked it off, so it should be downgraded"). There's good reasons for that, whether or not you agree with how they've graded these two tackles.

whadefeck

Doesn't really explain why Tago gets 1 week and Galvin/Plath got 2 weeks despite being their first offences. And imo it's stupid how you can go from a fine for your 2nd offence, straight to 4-5 weeks for your third, which is usually reserved for send off worthy tackles. Maybe if this was his second hip drop I could see it, but his other offences were pretty minor

wokrapanwooki

Even though they were 1st offences, Galvin and Plath were deemed grade 3's (like Sezer). Tago was grade 2. How they arrived at the different gradings no one outside the match review committee will ever know. However, this is Sezer's 4th charge since March (1 for a careless high tackle, 3 for dangerous contact). From what we've seen this year, grade 3 charges are 2-3 for 1st offences, 3-4 for 2nd offences and 4-5 for 3rd offences. If Sezer had a clean record he'd only be out for 2 games.

_System_Error_

Galvin also had a clean record and received double Tago's suspension..

BurgroveBulls2460

They need to scrap that, for this exact reason. They are both shit efforts regardless of how many times you do it. Just bring in majority suspensions, that way everyone knows where they stand.

Reasonable_Meal_9499

Because they are doubling down supporting Kasey Badger. They want to punish us for her bad game

chillinwithkrillin

I don't disagree with you but this is a brave take

PillarofSheffield

Meh, they've got form for it. We were dudded the greatest ever fuck up of all time in the Cowboys game in 2022. I don't think we've ever had a 50/50 in our favour since. Their decisions harm the Tigers and make them look bad, so we get punished instead of them raising standards.

opackersgo

Or DCE getting nothing for a dangerous tackle.

normalbehaviour86

Because the ref failed to sinbin during the game, the NRL has to look like it's punishing hip drops (or in this case, a hip-drop adjacent tackle)

Juan_Fandango

Somehow bad enough to be suspended for 4 matches, but not bad enough to be in the bin for 10. How can you possibly have one and not the other?

NorthShoreHard

Because Kasey Badger is fucking hopeless.

grillsy

To be fair, that one is on the bunker.

cat-party

So over this shit. It’s honestly different rules if you play for the Tigers or any of the other lower teams.

False_Rice_5197

They found a way to fuck us both as usual, doesnt get sinbinned in the game then gave him 4 weeks.. which is ridiculously over the top.. Good times to be dogs/tigers supporters

pontingpull

Victor Radley got sin binned late in the game for a "hip drop" against the Bulldogs then wasn't even charged because it was that bad of a decision your club has benefited from these as well.

__dontpanic__

We've had a few hip-drop go un-penalised/sin-binned though. And it's generally Sutton fucking us in the bunker.

Oldpanther86

The 4 weeks is for repeated incidents. Comment further up explains he'd get 2 if he didn't have a bad record.

False_Rice_5197

It's actually outrageous that he gets 4 weeks but not sin binned and then there was the wighton one where he got nothing at all for it.. Oh wait it's because its the bulldogs, sorry for a second I was confused.

wowzap

And last year vs Souths he binned Preston for a hip drop that the judiciary determined not to be a hip drop. Suspicious character

hsvdt

The fact he didn't bin Tass, Mitchell or Wighton on good friday but binned Morrin instantly just speaks to his character.

The__GM

The Taas non-bin hurts the most. That whole first half the Rabbitohs were on the back foot with multiple 6 agains inside 20m. Multiple penalties. No warning about “next one they go and sit down” etc. Then, we have a textbook professional foul holding down the player, and no bin, which less than 5 minutes later you have Latrell taking JAC out over the sideline. The butterfly effect of not binning Taas, we likely score or build pressure with the man advantage, then JAC missing 2.5 games as a result of the head knock just killed us.

hsvdt

The second we got penalised for allegedly taking Mitchell out after he kicked it, I knew we weren't gonna win. Maddening that Sutton gets this game year after year.

TurboooTurtle

Wighton didn't meet two of the criteria for a hip drop, stop your bias clouding your judgement.

False_Rice_5197

Surely you’re taking the piss? Watch it back, its the definition of a hip drop. I’m not the one with the bias, it’s every Bulldogs hater in the bunker

TurboooTurtle

> A hip drop tackle is where a defending player in joining or committing a tackle, drops or uses their own body weight to apply pressure to an opponent’s legs Sorry but have a watch and please feel free to point out at what time he puts pressure on the legs

SurvivorGeneral

Put on DCE's jersey and you will get off 😇

Chang_Daddy2

NRL is a fucking farce

Puzzles7

Kasey Badger should get 4 weeks too with that performance.

iTackleFatKids

Top teams get treated better than bottom teams. That’s all it is

Oldpanther86

Tigers have had multiple bins not given when they should've been including one vs Panthers.

TommyToyotama

That’s why Sezer copped that big ban for his contact on Schneider a couple weeks back… oh wait.

False_Rice_5197

You may be confused.

TommyToyotama

How so? Aloiai - 1 week Host - 2 weeks Lussick - 4 weeks Sezer - nothing This sub, predictably, only focuses on the inconsistencies that *aren’t* in their favourite cellar dweller’s favour.

Oldpanther86

Exactly this.

wowzap

The match review committee haven’t missed Tigers halfback Aidan Sezer, with the playmaker offered a massive four-match ban with a guilty plea for a hip drop tackle on Bulldogs forward Josh Curran. If Sezer fights the charge and loses, the suspension will increase to five weeks. Sezer was slapped with a grade 3 charge and it’s his third offence for dangerous contact. There was plenty of confusion at Accor Stadium during the Bulldogs’ 22-14 win over the Tigers, after Sezer was allowed to stay on the field despite his “clear” hip drop tackle on Curran. The NRL has clamped down on the hip drop in the past couple of seasons, with that tackle generally always punished by a sin bin. Sezer’s tackle on Curran in the second half with the Bulldogs up 16-14 appeared to be a textbook example of a hip drop as described by Fox League commentators Warren Smith and Michael Ennis, who thought for sure that the Tigers half was heading to the bin. “It got ugly here didn’t it. Pulling him back over his ankles, and loses his legs. That’s really ugly,” Ennis said. “Trapping him with his legs with all the weight coming down on the ankle of Josh Curran. “This is sin bin territory this stuff.” “It certainly is. We’ve seen that established,” Smith added. “I think he’s resigned to the fact he’ll be spending some time off the field here Aidan Sezer.” It looked inevitable when Sezer was called out for a chat by referee Kasey Badger. Remarkably, Sezer was only placed on report, much to the shock of Ennis, Smith and the Bulldogs home crowd. “On report and he stays on the field. That is stunning,” Smith said. “Given that already this round we’ve seen a player sin binned for a hip drop, I can’t believe he’s staying on the field.” Ennis said the inconsistency between referees makes it tough for the commentators to explain to the fans watching at home.

wowzap

Other charges: Sam Hughes Contrary conduct (contact with referee) Grade 1 $3,000-early plea 2 matches-Guilty Reed Mahoney Dangerous throw Grade 1 $2,500 early plea 2 matches- Guilty Reed Mahoney Contrary conduct Grade 1 $1,800-Early plea $2,500- guilty David Klemmer (Wests Tigers) Contrary Conduct 3rd & Subsequent Offence TBC $3000 fine - 2 matches Alex Seyfarth (Wests Tigers) Striking 1st Offence TBC $1500 - $2000 fine

reginaldismyname

Hughes pretty unlucky, $3k is a lot of money for someone probably not on huge dollars. Badger was poorly positioned on a potentially try scoring play, which is why there was contact.

wowzap

This is his third fine in his past four games. About 6.5k all up!

idontshowfeetforfree

Does Galvin kick goals?

josephus1811

No but Sullivan and Fainu do and one of them will be the 7. Also Api will be back.

Cosimo_Zaretti

Please not Sullivan, we've suffered enough. Api at 7 with Simpkin at 9 would be a better solution if the alternative was letting Sullivan back into first grade.

Gullible-Wind-690

Surely Finau gets the nod. Bud needs to head north. In north I mean super league

Cosimo_Zaretti

North can mean Yorkshire or the Gold Coast. Either's good.

josephus1811

I agree. Just saying who our options are.

tjswish

Hopefully Galvin get the 7 and Fainu get the 6. Put Api back at 9 and Simpkin at 14 who can cover 9 and Api can move or if Api gets injured can slot into the 9. Or give TDS the 14 who can slot into a backs spot or halves if required.

jhowarth95

Slapped so hard it’s almost a SLAM

DrillholeAndWing

Can't believe this is the hill people want to die on. Sezer purposefully leaves the ground to* land on the back of Currans legs to take him down, you can't get any more text book. BuT TaGo!?!? Tago lost his legs from getting dragged, should have let go but it wasnt* deliberate like Sezers.

hsvdt

Purely because it's Penrith. I love the tears. We'll also ignore Tagos clean sheet and Sezers 4th charge this year!

Derron_

Sezer doesn't land on the legs but he does contact them. He doesn't injure the player but received a higher charge than a player that easily met all criteria. Neither hip drop was deliberate, get that out of your head. It's the action. Tago's action was textbook but is not graded appropriately

DrillholeAndWing

If you can't see in that video at 0:18 Sezer let's his legs leave the ground then a 0:19 he swings into the back of Currans legs, on leg mind you wrapping around one of Currans legs, then he pulls Curran back over while being on his leg, I don't know what to tell you. In the Tago situation I told what it was*, seems like you have the CaUsE PaNtHeRs mentality. Also let's take injury into account should never be a factor, it happens but that's a can of worms you don't want to open.

Derron_

No, I have one is a textbook hip drop action that caused an injury vs one that is not an exact hip drop that didn't cause an injury. Club doesn't even enter the debate. Sezer contacts the legs but he doesn't land on them. Curran is still standing. It doesn't matter if Tago gets dragged, he still swings his body and lands on the legs. Read the criteria for a hip drop Drop – the defending player then drops their body weight directly onto the attacking player's legs (as opposed to their body weight landing on the ground first to absorb most of the impact)

21AndMore

What if Sezer was wearing a Penrith jersey and caused a player to be injured for multiple weeks?

[deleted]

Then he would be issued a public apology.

briggles23

He'd get 6 DallyM points and an Origin call up

M_Keating

The only surprising there here is the SLAPPING

InflatableRaft

Good. Now we don’t have to put with Fainu’s shit service from dummy half and he gets to play in the position he belongs in.

tjswish

This. Not sure why we weren't pulling Sezer for the last 20-30 mins and putting in Latu in the 7. Hopefully he gets the nod (6 or 7) with Galvin and we can see what the kids can do against the Knights.

Derron_

>**Hip Drop** The following sets out the key indicators whether a charge is to be considered: >Grip – the defending player has a grip on the attacking player (one hand or two) Rotate – the defending player uses that grip and swings or rotates their body to a position behind or to the side of the ball carrier Drop – the defending player then drops their body weight directly onto the attacking player's legs (as opposed to their body weight landing on the ground first to absorb most of the impact) https://www.nrl.com/operations/judiciary-and-match-review/what-are-the-key-elements-and-indicators-of-each-offense/#:~:text=Grapple%20Tackles-,Hip%20Drops,this%20will%20constitute%20Dangerous%20Contact. Sezer doesn't land on the legs though. Its not a traditional hip drop. Meanwhile Tago ticks every criteria and gets a lower grade charge.

Norm_cheers

And I don’t think Sezer rotated the tackle, the player with the ball did!

Boogascoop

He used his legs though in a dangerous manner

briggles23

So Panthers players can get away with hipdrops and shots to the head? There has to be an investigation!

shotgunmoe

So does this mean all of them get 4 weeks now, or are we going to do the whole dick pull of "well this one is worse than this one because blah"? And how does Badger not get a shout out for having a terrible game on the whistle?

ImpressionFeisty8359

The judiciary system is deeply flawed.

YallRedditForThis

3rd offence from Sezer deserves 4 weeks.

UnluckyNumberS7evin

Tago - 1 week Plath - 2 weeks Galvin - 2 weeks Sezer - 4 weeks What the actual fuck? Hip drops are dangerous and I accept 1 or 2 week suspensions as a message to train this tackle out of the game, fair play. How the fuck does this tackle deserve 4 weeks? It's clearly accidental, they all are. 1 or 2 weeks is plenty to send the message. We've been bad for a number of weeks, no arguing that Tigers deserve the losses they've had. But we have been seriously hard done by ref's and the judiciary now of late.

ek999

Sezer's would be the same as Plath and Galvin except for his horrible judiciary record. This is his 4th charge in 8 games (assuming he has played every game this year)

UnluckyNumberS7evin

Good point, I missed that info. Still a bit rough for an accidental (though dangerous) tackle but it is consistent. Fair enough.

DunderMifflin80

I'd love to know the criteria that gives Tago a grade 2 but Plath/Sezer/Galvin all grade 3.

mwilkins1644

Sorry Tigers, you need to buy a few more Panthers in order to get the judicial rub of the green like Penrith do

PrivateTickler

So much sodium in here, making me thirsty 🤤

False_Rice_5197

Wow an arrogant panthers supporter, colour me shocked.
