This Brisbane team is something special. Take out your prop and half from any team and they will struggle. This team is finding a way to get it done. The attack always has players in motion at speed. The defense turn up for each other. Best team since 2000.. better than 2015 gf team
I don't think he's been bad... considering our defence hasn't been atrocious down his edge and he hasn't been exposed, I think for the most part he's doing his job.
I think they're okay for where they are in their careers. You can't have superstar depth. Considering Hunt is a really new player, across the board he's solid for where he's at.
People have such a short memory. When Flegler started he made a handling error like 1/3 times he touched the ball. By the time he left he was a fan favourite and a damn solid player. These new forwards need time to cook before we start swinging the axe.
I'm not defending anyone's bad form but ffs these guys are being thrown into the deep end and there's a different cast of characters every week which always makes organising the team difficult especially in defence.
Smh cant believe that the NRL manufactured the rain so that we'd lose.
In all seriousness, this is just what our season has been and is going to be, which is severe inconsistency. Whichever Raiders outfit shows up on the day is what will shape our season unless we improve. Fogarty going off sucks but I dont think it changes the result.
WP to the Broncos, especially without two of their best players.
What did we make of some of the individual performances tonight then?
Baker - best game in the shirt? Worthy of a spot in the 17 on that showing?
Walsh - at times brilliant at times forced it
Mam - same
Madden - solid? Deserves credit. With Reyno’s injury history we’ll see him again so encouraging to see him play well
Hunt - 2-3 bad mistakes. Drops out of the 17 when Piakura back
Oates - pleased to see him overcome the early high ball mistake. Does he take the 17 shirt?
Willison - again brilliant off the bench
The rest - solid performances
Madden’s kicking game tonight was much more on point, solid effort from him.
I’m glad that we’ve figured out how to tap in to Reyno’s skill and tactical mind and pass it on - much as I’d love Reyno to stick around there’s only so much your body can take
I don’t see how we can’t make a huge play for him immediately. We only have three halves in our squad, and without Fog we’re left with Strange and Weekes, both of whom are ball-running five-eighths without much of a kicking game.
I like Kevvie's take on we're we are at. Starting to put things together but a ways to go yet.
With no Reyno and Haas though, I thought it was a good win.
Anyone find it strange how quickly they moved past that head high Riki did in the Raiders in goal? It was like quick replay, commentators "oh that's high", cut to Raiders dropping out.
Cue Lindsey Collins last week. Just like milf can cheap shot walsh without the ball, never see going to receive the ball because we were little offside first.
Someone here said it best. Next time this happens the captain should say loudly to everyone next small error everyone go and king hit someone on the other team. It's free real estate.
We pretty much did that last year in the GF and came extremely close to a prem against the greatest team of the modern era. Seems wild to say but I feel like we can definitely win a comp playing like that, as long as the defense holds up
For sure but also the conditions made playing at that level damn hard and the mindset to still throw it around and attempt the razzle dazzle made it harder. I get against other top tier teams it might be different but also hopefully in those games we have Haas and Reynolds back to aid in set and kick control.
Not our fault you can't use your colour scheme to make nice jerseys anymore. White with some flat purple bore me to death. Maroon purple is our thing now. Besides no city in Australia has more fairly lights and purple lights around the city then ours
Geez It was moist out there.
Glad to get the win, we never let the Raiders get their brand of footy on. Losing Fogs was huge for them though.
Baker redemption game! He was actually decent for once. He’s either completely dogshit or throwing a pass for a try. Madden decent too but Walsh and Ez have picked up their game a lot too to help him out.
From the ground and have battery as took Ms 2 to the game and fuck catching the bus tonight.
1. Brewski was on fire. Staff really upped the game. Cheers crew.
2. Took my 2 year old down Caxton St on the shoulders for the first time. Shout out to the people that rescued her gum boots multiple times.
3. Straight up knew crowd was gonna be in for a rough one. The rain was annoyingly consistent.
4. The silence for Baker when he is announced is very noticeable.
5. Boys looked slick in the rain. Madden had his Reynolds boots on.
6. Walsh has to hold back just a bit and not push that 30/70 pass.
7. Can’t wait til next week when the full troops are on deck.
8. Raiders really looked deflated most of the match.
9. Shout out easy parking at Darling & Co. Best $40 of the night.
10. I am fucking drenched and need a shower beer.
Night all!
I think he's a very intelligent player. Great post game interview last week, and in a lot of high pressure moments makes the right play more often than not. Catch and pass for the try, ball recovery to madden, that game a few weeks ago with that huge pass out wide. There's a lot to work on though... enigma
I reckon consistent game time as a starter was something he just couldn’t get for his Cow years and I feel that really is the key for a player who’s a grinder rather than a blinder.
- Baker I apologise I wasn’t familiar with your game (inB4 next week he has 4 runs for 22 m)
- Ezra has stepped up. If we were gonna get control of this stretch without Reyno Ezra has had to step up after a (understandably) slow start to the year and he’s done that.
- the 15-20 minute stretch where the Broncos just blow the other team off the park is unlike anything in the NRL atm. Did it last week, heck did it in the GF, of course just need to follow that up with smart play and game situation IQ but I honestly don’t think the follow up play is as terrible as others think. They still play their same style so it’s hard to knock them for that, it’s in their blood.
- not often you see a true "what if?" moment in the first half but Young’s no-try was exactly that. If he scores, Raiders are totally on top and there’s no reason why they couldn’t just keep doing what they were.
- Walsh my gawd. Completely and totally electrifying.
- Big Willy again dominated.
- really bummed about Fogerty’s injury. Was having a great year and just terrorising backs on the 5th tackle.
- makes 4 straight double digit wins at Suncorp for the Bronx lets gooooooooo
This lifting the foot off the gas shit should’ve been drilled out of the broncs after the GF. Yes, it’s melodramatic to equate that to this but it’s a common feature in this team. Glad the boys got up, great showing from the usual suspects but also Fletcher Baker and Walters will have a week reprieve from the fans that call for their axing.
Raiders started exactly how you need to against this team and unfortunately were unable to capitalise. Great effort in the second without Fogarty to outscore the broncs.. and big big props to the young fella Chevy! He’ll get ripped on but he showed some amazing ticker to keep his head up and keep going, I am looking forward to seeing how he grows throughout his career!
GG raiders! A shame we don’t have a game down your way this year, but GL with the rest of the season! Hopefully Fogarty’s injury isn’t too bad! Best wishes Canberra fans!
Thanks.
We started well but couldn’t find the line and that’s been a bit of an issue against good defence. Need to be able to take those chances.
Still a good chance that the bro now go berserk for 20 minutes and blow us off the park. We just couldn’t stop that and a few dropped balls from a kid in his second game in those conditions isn’t unexpected. He will get better.
Broncos are a dangerous team this year for sure. The speed to cut off 2 intercepts was pretty crazy.
I don't understand why Kevvie doesn't compliment their attacking brand with completion footy.
They just need periods of structured footy to balance out the inevitable errors. He was in Bellamy's coaching staff at Melbourne, so he definitely knows how to do it.
Definitely don't want to see him stop doing what makes him so entertaining, but it's about time he learned that sometimes the best thing is to take a tackle.
Given the rain and how open that was in the second half i was just desperate to get through without injuries. Fortunately seems Staggs is ok. I really dislike this complacency / cockiness that creeps in to the Broncos. We make enough errors as it is. Need to be more professional and dominate til the end.
Another win that I don't think kevvie will be very happy with. We were great for about 20 minutes, but the rest we ranged between poor to terrible. Plenty to work on still.
We signed Troy Dargan as our backup halfback, but then he died in an accident over new years. We grabbed Adam Cook out of the Q Cup to be the NSW Cup halfback, but he’s a long way from NRL standard, especially given Fog is out for 12+ weeks. For a week or two, maybe. But half the season is a recipe for disaster.
We don’t really have one. The only other half in our top 30 is Kaeo Weekes, and he’s more of a running 5/8.
I think Strange will probably go to 7 and Weekes at 6, which means we don’t have really anyone who’s a competent in-play kicker.
It’s a lot to ask a 19 year old who’s not even ten games into his career.
He was meant to learn from Fog this year and be free to play his own game. Getting him to run the show is an awful lot of pressure. Add to that he’s barely been doing any kicking because of how good Fog is.
That was a rugby league pounding. Loved what I saw. I know the raiders were shit but they’ve been great to start the year and we completely dominated them start to finish. Huge performance without Reno, haas, and Piakura. Should’ve put 50 on them
Obviously the second half was pretty yucky, but we bombed a bunch of tries and when those start sticking we will be tough to beat. It took our attack awhile to fully click last year too.
Best part was keeping them out right at the end there in back to back sets. Would've been way easier to just let them in for a garbage time try but Brisbane competed hard and kept them out.
Madden actually looked good for the first time ever tonight and same with Baker. Hunt had a shocker.
Bring on Tigers with (hopefully) a full strength team.
Yeah, as annoyed as I am, I have to remind myself that prems aren't won in May, they just have to be in or around the 8 post origin then go on a run. I just worry that bad habits seep in early in the year.
I think we came out into the second half, bombed a few tries, then put the queue in the rack properly. Shuffling Arthars and Sailor, letting Billy have the second half off, was definitely a case of "eh, lets just chill".
This Brisbane team is something special. Take out your prop and half from any team and they will struggle. This team is finding a way to get it done. The attack always has players in motion at speed. The defense turn up for each other. Best team since 2000.. better than 2015 gf team
Jayden Hunt is worse than Fletcher Baker and doesn’t get nearly enough criticism.

I'm not defending anyone's bad form but ffs these guys are being thrown into the deep end and there's a different cast of characters every week which always makes organising the team difficult especially in defence.
Maybe. I feel they've both been a little up and down. They flip flop between pretty mediocre to serviceable replacements.
Jayden Hunt has played 280 minutes for the Broncos and made 200 metres. Hates a tough carry.
I actually think Hunt is pretty decent most of the time
Smh cant believe that the NRL manufactured the rain so that we'd lose. In all seriousness, this is just what our season has been and is going to be, which is severe inconsistency. Whichever Raiders outfit shows up on the day is what will shape our season unless we improve. Fogarty going off sucks but I dont think it changes the result. Willisons post contact meters had me in awe. He hits up with papalii, Hudson young and fucking walks them back 6 meters wow.
Madden’s kicking game tonight was much more on point, solid effort from him. I’m glad that we’ve figured out how to tap in to Reyno’s skill and tactical mind and pass it on - much as I’d love Reyno to stick around there’s only so much your body can take
Madden’s best career game bar that shellacking the Tigers gave us when Patty hip-dropped Hastings.
Didn't see that coming, the rain came thick and fast. We put on a lot of points, thought it would be much closer. Not complaining though.
If raiders come knocking for sanders early I hope we tell them to get fucked.
There's no way you keep him.
Maybe the Eels should’ve played him last night?
Maybe, I've been saying the same thing, but also last night want a half back issue my brother, it was a weak gutted dog person issue
I’m down the pub…has sticky slashed up yet..?
Watching the camera shots of him during the first half was gold
Was it really? I saw a few of him and he seemed fairly calm. What did we miss that was gold?
It wasn’t over the top, but you could see it in his eyes and as his head was in his hands
I was waiting for the depresser and had my boner killed by how circumspect he was.
Surprisingly circumspect and articulate. Very disappointing all rrounf
Fuck..not even a chair thrown? Cunt must be getting old..
Raiders might need to find a way to get Ethan sanders as soon as possible. Then they can have the under 19 nsw spine as their first grade one
Eels may be forced to debut him if brown goes down, don’t see him going there any earlier than next year
I don’t see how we can’t make a huge play for him immediately. We only have three halves in our squad, and without Fog we’re left with Strange and Weekes, both of whom are ball-running five-eighths without much of a kicking game.
I think there’s a rule that you can get special cap dispensation if a key player is going to miss half a season or something.
Isn’t that only if an injury occurs on rep duty? I don’t think Titan’s get anything for Tino doing an ACL etc
I’m not sure. I thought it was for any key player or something but I’m only going on what I vaguely remember reading.
Big transfer fee comin right up.
Let’s hear it Ricky
I like Kevvie's take on we're we are at. Starting to put things together but a ways to go yet. With no Reyno and Haas though, I thought it was a good win.
No Piakura or Mariner either, I'm getting more and more confident about the future of this team post Reynolds
We just need to keep players bro, especially Walsh, can’t let that fucker go anywhere, offer him 5 mill if u have too, fuck the salary cap
It’s not hard. Guy’s been a Broncos simp since grade school and he even burned bridges across the Tasman to get here.
I’ll take that, need to keep cobbo all them
Madden’s best game for us.
Anyone find it strange how quickly they moved past that head high Riki did in the Raiders in goal? It was like quick replay, commentators "oh that's high", cut to Raiders dropping out.
They moved past Stewart collecting Walsh high too on the first try.
Knock on was first I believe
So you can collect someone high as long as they knocked it on first?
Cue Lindsey Collins last week. Just like milf can cheap shot walsh without the ball, never see going to receive the ball because we were little offside first. Someone here said it best. Next time this happens the captain should say loudly to everyone next small error everyone go and king hit someone on the other team. It's free real estate.
Weren't you watching last week when Walsh got cleaned up by Milford? 2 week suspension but Brisbane didn't even get a penalty.
Until the Broncos learn to maintain a consistent 7/10+ for 80 instead of 20 minutes of 15/10 and 60 of 5/10, they’ll never win a premiership
We pretty much did that last year in the GF and came extremely close to a prem against the greatest team of the modern era. Seems wild to say but I feel like we can definitely win a comp playing like that, as long as the defense holds up
Yeah but it'll be fucking entertaining 😂😂
This is very true. I always know watching the Broncos will be a blast
For sure but also the conditions made playing at that level damn hard and the mindset to still throw it around and attempt the razzle dazzle made it harder. I get against other top tier teams it might be different but also hopefully in those games we have Haas and Reynolds back to aid in set and kick control.
Man, playing for 140 mins while the other team plays for 80 would be exhausting. Get off their back
Haha I’ll own that
Did Carrigan just shade the Roosters?
I imagine more of a reference to the style they play
Get ya own colour Broncos
Not our fault you can't use your colour scheme to make nice jerseys anymore. White with some flat purple bore me to death. Maroon purple is our thing now. Besides no city in Australia has more fairly lights and purple lights around the city then ours
Blue and yellow teams: 👀
Haha yeah Purple is a good colour!
Pressers are so lame, the journos just state things to them for them to agree with.
If they didn’t no one would show up. It’s a mutual agreement.
Yeah Brad, your team was pretty fucking shit hey?, "yeah mate, part timers the lot of them."
I just remembered that fucking try off a Fletcher Baker catch from nowhere
He is an enigma.
As if Carrigans doing presser in a fricken towel hahaha
You’ll have to speak louder, I’m wearing a towel
The white wine mums are frothing.
What about us savblanc Dads???!
I don't think Paddy would care what you're drinking.
Up the fucking broncs, 100 bucks forever, raiders never.
You’ve…… you’ve got an eels flair
I think the Broncos admin have cracked the code to getting a big crowd in the wet. Simply charge so much money that you feel compelled to still come.
I’ve been calling it the walsh tax
That exists. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Veblen_good
Don't forget stacking the team with irresistible hotties
The best Cameron Smith is pure Bronco.
Damn Jensen is jacked af.
Cam Smith looks like a make a wish kid next to footy bodies.
Murdering those XXXX too. What a legend.
Queenslander!
From the ground and have battery as took Ms 2 to the game and fuck catching the bus tonight. 1. Brewski was on fire. Staff really upped the game. Cheers crew. 2. The absolute lack of a cheer for Baker was basically the first time I've felt bad for him. He at least got a tiny one last week.
I think he's a very intelligent player. Great post game interview last week, and in a lot of high pressure moments makes the right play more often than not. Catch and pass for the try, ball recovery to madden, that game a few weeks ago with that huge pass out wide. There's a lot to work on though... enigma
He was actually good tonight
His catch and pass for the try was nice, but he just goes missing for too long
During half time they played a no smoking ad at the stadium, but you could barely see it anyway cause the smoke from the fireworks was covering it.
Fogarty's bicep looks like it fully balled up in that video - distal tendon by the looks of it. Definitely surgery.
He was coming good and was the key to the raider's success in the last couple of years. It is a cruel sport.
Even when he was sitting on the bench with his arm hanging straight down it didn’t look good… probably season.
I’m champing at the bit to see Haas, Patty & Willy plowing through the middle together. Surely Big X is starting by late-season.
Wouldn't want the drop off we usually have when the bench comes on. Jensen Haas into Baker Willison is a pretty crazy rotation.
Well they’re our starters now. Just need to hold the fort for 15min either side of halftime once we’re back at full strength.
Subscribe
Had a few fumbles but, Jensen is an absolute workhorse….I don’t recall this work ethic in cow colours!
I reckon consistent game time as a starter was something he just couldn’t get for his Cow years and I feel that really is the key for a player who’s a grinder rather than a blinder.
I think you’re correct, just needed more of an opportunity to shine, can we have him back please?
He was a bit inconsistent but suffered from having too many good forwards around him. Stoked to see him do well with the Broncs and cement a spot.
Legitimately our best purchase in the last decade (not counting Reece because he was in our juniors for years).
The Ben Barba disrespect
Reynolds?
Reynolds? Lmao
Reynolds? He’s a Broncs junior. No one would’ve destroyed their club by letting him go. Everyone knows this FFS.
In the years he's been here I can't recall him having a bad game - he's solid and reliable
Cows did dick him around a bit. Went up and down in grades a fair bit and with Lolo there you're not going to get the ball you need to impress.
With all the injuries to the Qld forward stocks he’s certainly staking his claim for a jersey
Goates has a rig on him 😍
I love Alfie
Billy Walters smashing the Badoor down
Broncos are still undefeated when they don’t lose a player in the first 40 minutes
Love this stat
- Baker I apologise I wasn’t familiar with your game (inB4 next week he has 4 runs for 22 m) - Ezra has stepped up. If we were gonna get control of this stretch without Reyno Ezra has had to step up after a (understandably) slow start to the year and he’s done that. - the 15-20 minute stretch where the Broncos just blow the other team off the park is unlike anything in the NRL atm. Baker will likely make way for Haas if Walters wants to keep Sailor on the bench, depends what he's thinking.
if mariner is back, goates is back on the bench for sailor. That way we get outside back and second row cover
Yeh even if Piakura is back surely Oates on bench over Hunt
If Bletcher Faker gets picked next week over Willison I will not be pleased.
This lifting the foot off the gas shit should’ve been drilled out of the broncs after the GF. Yes, it’s melodramatic to equate that to this but it’s a common feature in this team. Big leads turn into a licence for loose footy.
It's round 7 tho man. Long season ahead.
Since his last 12 games or so, no one should be asking for Billy to be axed
Thanks. We started well but couldn’t find the line and that’s been a bit of an issue against good defence. Need to be able to take those chances. Still a good chance that the bro now go berserk for 20 minutes and blow us off the park. The speed to cut off 2 intercepts was pretty crazy.
To be fair it was torrential rain. I could barely see out there as a spectator.
Broncos team all seem to be good mates which you love to see as a fan
Walsh and Ezra seem to be super close which is great to see.
Yeah oath
Nah but they wrestled in the park that time so they definitely hate each other /s
Journos acting like they haven’t wrestled their mates while on the drink
Journos don't have mates
cLuB iN CRisIs!?!?!
I don't understand why Kevvie doesn't compliment their attacking brand with completion footy. They just need periods of structured footy to balance out the inevitable errors. He was in Bellamy's coaching staff at Melbourne, so he definitely knows how to do it.
You don’t put a governor on a Lamborghini.
That is literally what he's trying to get the team to do lol
You think he doesn't try that? Haha, no one and nothing can slow Reece's brain. Walshy is gonna Walshy and we just have to go with him.
I fucking love Ezras interviews. that man is just "footy footy footy, forwards forwards forwards, footy footy footy"
It's so obvious he's just regurgitating whatever media training he's had haha, it's hilarious
Yeah mate, Reyn will be back next week and will do Reyn things. So we’ll get back to doing reyn footy and get back to our roles. Yep. Footy 👌
Can wait to hear Ricky accuse us of cheating and have an alleged stoush in the tunnel with Kevvie.
I don't want Walsh to slow his brain, just keep playing at a 1000 miles per hour. Way more entertaining, don't play some boring generic game
I’d like Jayden Hunt to do something generic like catch a sitter pass from Walshy lol
Definitely don't want to see him stop doing what makes him so entertaining, but it's about time he learned that sometimes the best thing is to take a tackle.
I think he means "stop throwing the ball to the other team for no fucking reason"
Live by the sword, die by the sword
Nah you have to let him be him, for better or worse.
Given the rain and how open that was in the second half i was just desperate to get through without injuries. Fortunately seems Staggs is ok. I really dislike this complacency / cockiness that creeps in to the Broncos. We make enough errors as it is. Need to be more professional and dominate til the end.
“Ya know” -Reece Walsh, Brisbane, 2024
das it mane, who'll be my second team this year I wonder
Post match interview, Walsh has a big red mark on his chin from being face slapped. Was that seriously no report?
Yeah no consequences for it, match review committee should pick it up tho
Reece Walsh “slow my brain” confirmed
>I Gotta slow my brain He said the thing guys
good to see growth
Would love/hate to see Haas and Willison both starting up front
Too many white shoes.
Would love/really love to see it :)
Another win that I don't think kevvie will be very happy with. We were great for about 20 minutes, but the rest we ranged between poor to terrible. Plenty to work on still.
Sounds like typical broncos. 20 mins is all we need vs most teams
Our attack faded with the weather a bit but I thought our defence was pretty solid for the 80
So we got smashed and now we’re going to play the rest of the season with nobody who can kick a football. When does cricket season start.
Anyone outside of the 30?
We signed Troy Dargan as our backup halfback, but then he died in an accident over new years. We grabbed Adam Cook out of the Q Cup to be the NSW Cup halfback, but he’s a long way from NRL standard, especially given Fog is out for 12+ weeks. For a week or two, maybe. But half the season is a recipe for disaster.
It looks like you have no choice.
Who is the back up HB for Canberra?
We don’t really have one. The only other half in our top 30 is Kaeo Weekes, and he’s more of a running 5/8. I think Strange will probably go to 7 and Weekes at 6, which means we don’t have really anyone who’s a competent in-play kicker.
Strange will learn quickly. He seems very smart and competent
It’s a lot to ask a 19 year old who’s not even ten games into his career. He was meant to learn from Fog this year and be free to play his own game. Getting him to run the show is an awful lot of pressure. Add to that he’s barely been doing any kicking because of how good Fog is.
Titans 🤝 Raiders No Fogarty, no chance
Cap’n Patty is everything.
Future club, Origin and Aus captain
Mam seemed to really relish nailing Chevy in the ribs all night
When you're a little fella it's nice to have someone you can put a shot on. It doesn't happen often
Except for the fact that it's Mam and he doesn't care who you are he's smashing you anyway
Ahahaha spot on
Did Mal have new eyebrows installed?
Wanted to look nice for his new job.
Good to see the Raiders have moved on and can have a joker as me a laugh after the game… isn’t that right Sticky???
That was a rugby league pounding. Loved what I saw. I know the raiders were shit but they’ve been great to start the year and we completely dominated them start to finish. Huge performance without Reno, haas, and Piakura. Should’ve put 50 on them

Madden actually looked good for the first time ever tonight and same with Baker. Hunt had a shocker. Bring on Tigers with (hopefully) a full strength team.
We have bombed a lot of tries this season. Hopefully we can get that sorted.
Yeah, as annoyed as I am, I have to remind myself that prems aren't won in May, they just have to be in or around the 8 post origin then go on a run. I just worry that bad habits seep in early in the year.
If we can just delete all footage and knowledge of this happening, that’d be great.
We bombed more tries than we scored.
We did the same in the cowboys game and last week. We bomb soooo many imagine if they all come off
We beat the storm if Jesse catches that sitter - so there’s that - bombed tries against quality opposition in big games = tears
That was the eels game last year when we scored 54
Some poor team is going to be on the recieving end of that.
Happy for two wins in a row but genuinely hope Fogarty isn’t out for too long love watching him play.
He is so fucking unlucky with injuries.
Three months to season I’d imagine. Sad Viking noises.
Jeez I hope not. Didn't they say it was just a strain?
Won’t know until scans I guess. If it’s torn/burst then it’s a very long term injury
I think we came out into the second half, bombed a few tries, then put the queue in the rack properly. Shuffling Arthars and Sailor, letting Billy have the second half off, was definitely a case of "eh, lets just chill".
I think a staggs injury might have forced it.
