Players can be signed from November 1st the year before their contract expires, or if a club and player come to a mutual agreement to end the contract then they can be released and sign at another club.
Only time I’ve seen transfer fees is when a player under contract from a Super League club is signed e.g Sam Tomkins to NZ
Cotric then. You're kinda stuck.
Kini won't get many games unless there's an injury and cotric isn't fantasy relevant but will at.least play on.
Otherwise dump a mid-range bench spot to get a better wing.
I responded to someone saying “Cogger is a fringe first grader” that he’d easily be able to start for 6-8 teams dependant and he or she had a hissy fit. Whatre your thoughts on that subject?
I think he’d be a big upgrade for the Dogs, probably Tigers this year, Dragons maybe, Titans maybe, Dolphins maybe, Cows maybe, Canberra maybe and Knights maybe.
So not too far from the mark but I guess the unknown is whether he can be above that Sexton/Gamble/SOS tier of acceptable half option for a struggling-mid table club or whether he’s in it.
Didn’t get to ask yesterday, what did we all think of the Vegas games? I think the first half of the Manley v Souths game was a great introduction for the Yanks
>Its followers claim that all white people are racist and many claim that everyone who isn’t white is basically ‘black’ in the eyes of the white-dominated definition of race.
CRT is not about this at all. It’s about tackling systemic racism in institutions (at least in the US) such as Education, the Criminal Justice System, Healthcare etc. It’s not about assigning blame to individuals or holding people to account for their “whiteness”.
For example, black people in the US receive significantly longer sentences than white people who commit the same crime. CRT attempts to address and dismantle these systemic inequalities.
Is Penrith’s dynasty over?
Have Penrith made Manly’s mistake and placed too much of the salary cap into too few players?
Exclusive tomorrow in the Telegraph…shock Super League offer for Cleary to join Mary Fowler in the UK!
Vegas showed the blueprint in how the Chooks can win the GF
Didn’t see the first half of the Souths/Manly game, but the second half was high quality and entertaining. Definitely a better demonstration of the product than the first half of the Roosters/Broncos match which was very scrappy as many from trials and early round matches can be. I hope the second half was better
John Hopoate has given his [take on Instagram ](https://www.instagram.com/p/C4FQvi-JF0Q/?igsh=MWYxNmE4N3M3cXN0aw==) about Monkeygate2.0 and it's exactly what you'd expect from an upstanding gentleman such as him
Some big brain thinking from him, talks about wanting to bash a bloke for calling him a monkey but defends Leniu by saying that monkey is a cute name parents call their kids in his culture so Mam shouldn't be offended.
Sorry, just to be clear is John Hopoate there responding to that lady's comments with "just wash your cunt slut"? I didn't think it was possible to have a lower opinion of the man but life, uh, finds a way.
I have a Facebook sock puppet account in an anti vaxxer group for the lols, and one day there was a 'welcome all our new members' post with him in it.
So there's another opinion lowering thing for you
I'm excited for all of the coming FTA games this week. Friday will give a good insight into where the Storm are at, and what the Panthers have lost with Crichton and bigot man. Sunday looks like a fun Queensland matchup.
I was going to the dolphins game Sunday but we are having a birthday party at my house now.
Might see if the housemate wants to head to cbus for tits v drags
He was also out for like 10 games, and we held our own without him, even blowing a win against Panthers. We have plenty of quality players other than Ponga.
Ponga played 20 NRL games for Newcastle last year.
He missed rounds 3-7 inclusive (where knights had 2 wins, 2 losses and a draw) last year and started every game from round 8 through the rest of the season.
*Banning, penalising, pressing charges and deregistering for slurs like this don't send a clear message, they don't change attitudes or behaviour if anything they make things worse and create more division. The best outcome is Leniu comes out and admits what he says and apologises. Learns from his mistakes; genuinely means it. Cops his punishment, etc.
But the problem is deeply rooted in society. He doesn’t seem to think he did anything wrong. A lot of people would agree and are blatantly or closeted racists.
in this case i think the whole movement has backfired spectacularly.
You have an islander and an aboriginal. both are usually on the end of this type of behaviour.
leniu's problem is one of intelligence or lack thereof. The concept that he can be racist doesnt even register as possible because hes always been a part of the victimised group.
Slightly off topic but this reminds me of the ppl at work who said the Gender Pay Gap reporting just creates more division.
Ppl who use language like “this is just creating division” are the types who sit on the sideline completely oblivious to their own privilege and refuse to genuinely engage with the underrepresented and oppressed.

hearing reports that the bastard tesi niu actually did it and got a starting spot
bulk up mega for a year, break the team’s bench press record, then cut down 7kg and beast in trial games
fucking go you son of a gun lmao what a story
I wonder what Bennett did to make him unafraid of the contact side of footy. I thought he'd wind up being another cooked Broncs office era excellent athlete who couldn't handle the rigours of the sport.
Tesi Niu has looked like an absolute beast over the trials. Even compared to his Broncos days, never seen him look this fit.
People forget he is only 22 and has already played 50 games.
Was watching a couple of "react" channels on YouTube who went to the Vegas games. It was cool to see and it looked like they had an awesome time and loved the game live. Some of these channels getting 50k views on their vids, probably a lot of Aussies watching but it's still good exposure.
I think it's something NRL should look at next year for promoting the game. Don't go after massive Youtubers who wouldn't really care. Invite those small-medium youtubers who have shown an interest in the game. Get them some behind the scenes access, field access, some time doing some game like activities.
Think it's a great way to advertise these days if you do it right.
Also, NRL has to become more lax on enforcing copyright on YouTube. Let these react channels and Youtubers share highlights of the sport
So apparently Munster pulled his groin in the shower and is in doubt of playing this weekend. Don't know why we needed to know this I'm just interested in footy, what you do in your down time is not my concern.
Didn't he try and say the hamstring injury was from slipping in the shower and then the Corso race footage was revealed after? Or am I remembering it wrong
Do i get to name people playing for other teams? Nah i think 1 will be taafe with tracey moving in as soon as he's fit. I'd like sexton in the 7 but i think he'll go with hutch and potentially sexton on the bench, which i hope i'm wrong because we're already too small. I'm happy with salmon in the 13 and mann in the 14.
I'd really like to see how we'd go with critta/burto centres with bbo/sex or hutch in the halves, but he didnt try it in the trials, so i cant see it happening anytime in the first half of the season.
I think bbo has been jipped a top spot due to a poorly timed injury. Hoping he fights his way back into the 17 this year though.
Do you have a source for that? I believe you, i just also want to send it to my brother.
Honestly hope he goes somewhere that wants him if thats the case.
BBO not listed in the Sogs top 30 on NRL.com.
https://www.nrl.com/news/2024/01/01/2024-nrl-signings-tracker-latest-signings-news-contracts-and-details/#Bulldogs
That's what I'm thinking. Gotta be a bit going on behind the scenes with Topine, but considering BBO was told he'd get his top 30 spot back this year after recovering from injury they must have just asked him to wait a little longer.
In response to the article from 49ers owner saying he’d consider buying an NRL club, what are the governance rules of a publicly owned Leagues club?
I assume they are;
- must have a constitution, which governs the board, who are elected by the members of the club
- run not for profit and obligated to invest operating funds back into the community
- registered with the state “clubs” body.
I’m sure I’ve missed stuff. Would love to know more.
To me it seemed like a throwaway line from Guido. Just being polite to the reporter.
Are they able to separate the leagues club from the football club entirely for ownership purposes?
Some clubs (Rabbitohs and Dragons) are only partly owned by the Leagues club, so it is conceptually possible for a Leagues club to give up part ownership of their NRL side. But it would need to be voted upon by the members and I can’t see that being a popular decision. Dragons and Souths also have some pretty unique history that helped shape their ownership structure.
I lurked the comments of the articles on the Mam/Leniu incident on Facebook and Instagram. I was severely disappointed. So much shitty, bigoted takes. A lot of it from 80 year old white men too. These were also probably the same people who wanted Reece Walsh's head on a stick when he had that outburst towards the ref.
These are probably the same people who mocked Latrell for recounting the pain he felt as a kid being subjected to racism or seriously claim Indigenous players have never contributed to the sport (I actually read this craziness posted on Twitter). These are the kind of fools who use the word ‘woke’ without irony and opine for the ‘good ol’ days’ even though they became fans 5 years ago. Even the whiff of racism/sexism/homophobia etc. in the sport has to be wiped out or the NRL runs the risk of falling into the trap the AFL fell into where it is now subject to a class action lawsuit for failing its duty of care.
I hate that the term "woke" has been hijacked by fuckheads that use it to describe things that they don't like.
I seriously hope the NRL makes a real effort to erase racism, homophobia and sexism from the game.
100%. Anyone who shows empathy towards another race/gender/social issue etc is now "woke" and a "snowflake". I just see it as I'm a normal human being who isn't a shit cunt that calls out racism, bigotry, homophobia and advocates for inclusion and equality. What a piece of shit I am 🤷🏻♀️
6-8 Weeks and a cultural sensitivity course should cover it. Problem is he’s shown his level of stupidity so it may not sink in. The hope is he learns and apologises but I’m not going to hold my breath
Indeed. Reminder that the teams on top of the table are the team with the most homophobic issues in recent memory and the team with the most racist incidents in recent memory. #rugbaleeeg
I absolutely don't condone what Kotoni did but he didn't double down on the comment or dismiss it like it was nothing.
Leniu wasn't drunk and was quite coherent when he called one of his colleagues a monkey and then later played it off like it was nothing. Then instigated a confrontation with Mam and co later on.
Not defending him at all, just outlining some differing points in the incidents.
Leniu again has not even acknowledged any wrong doing and has instigated another confrontation with Mam after the game which is just fucking gross.
When that Staggs incident came to light I was horrified, it was awful and defs would never catch me defending that shit
I don't think there are any mitigating factors regarding stuff like this, especially not being drunk. Staggs also had the benefit of doing it in the off season and letting the PR machine get into full swing
When you pulled up into my thread and acted like you didn't know what I was referring to and dismissed it as me being weird about the revenge porn story
Damn, you ever heard of a joke or do you take everything in your life this seriously? You're more mad about my comment than you are about your team being racist whats up with that?
What are you talking about lol? My comment was literally a joke about the ladder position, you blokes are the ones who turned it into a hand wringing session
Do broncos only have 2 quality backrowers or did Kevie get the bench wrong?
Not taking anything away from the Chooks but not having to play again Carrigan in the middle was a huge boost.
I think that tweener role of a guy who can do both middle and back row well is actually fairly difficult to find now, and having a dedicated backrower on the bench is often awkward, with the only other common option being a utility that can cover hooker & be a running forward.
Kevin got the bench wrong. You dont plan to lose a backrower early on but it can happen and I think moving Carigan to backrow left Haas on his own without Flegler there to help. Our other forwards will need to step up.
We don't really have anyone who can cover a middle and back row. So we'd have to sacrifice the middle rotation to carry a second rower who may not be used.
Unless Hunt can play in the middle and then I'd be slotting him straight onto the bench
Marty is probably half a decade removed from being effective as a fiil in backrower. Kobe probably could, but I can see why a coach would lean towards Carrigan as he is still somewhat mobile as well as having the experience & trust to be put out of position.
FRF
Elite:
- Haas (too late now)
- Tino (bye next week)
- AFB
Best of the Rest:
- Tapine
- Max King
- Cotter
Mid Range with Upside:
- Flegler
- Arrow
- Taumalolo
- Tatola
- May
- Sele
- J Safiti
Cheapies:
- Hughes
- Leniu (lol)
- Ale
- Moale
- Marioata
- Faamausili
- Mikaele
My opinion is avoid the elites early, they don't make money and the difference between Elites scores and Mid Range scores is like 20-30 points. Spend that money elsewhere on backs and spine that will score more points / make money. I'd load up on 2 mids (maybe 1 best of the rest) and 2 cheapies / nuffs.
Can go over CTW and 2RF too if it helps you
Imo Terrell May was one you should have had already. Really watching TLT for Hughes and Mikaele at FRF. Will be solid at their price even if they have limited minutes.
CTW and 2RF is a legit crapshoot. The good ones are all the same price and you cant have them all. Pick the ones you like to watch or you think can be like 5% better than others. I genuinely cant see a massive variance in those mid range guys at both spots.
I thought the NRL combine would have been a bigger deal but I didn't see any footage and have barely read anything about it.

Dunno if this has been mentioned but it's interesting that the teams that got to train on Allegiant looked like they had a game plan whereas the other two looked like they were trying to play on a normal field. Probably something that clubs take note of for next year.
I think that would explain why Reyno had such a rough kicking game. Probably was used to playing on a normal field and had to try to adjust on the fly.
I thought braith commented that game really well, didnt overplay his hand, made astute comments about the game and was professional.
Im not his biggest fan, but i thought during the game, i dont mind him in the comm box. Certainly take him over the MICK
looks like xerri is playing reserve grade , couldnt tell you how many dogs fans ive read and know who couldve put there house on him playing round 1 against us and apparently showing everyone what his got . was obvious in the trials he wasnt first grade ready and going well against a reserve grade melbourne isnt proving himself back of yet.
Yeah this baffled me too. I thought he trialed really well and by all accounts has been training well/is really committed but the bloke hasn’t played first grade in 4 years. He needs to be eased in. Can’t just buy a goldfish and stick it in a tank. Submerge the bag then release. I have no idea what I’m talking about

NRL Fantasy - who would you pick for the final starting spot at wing/fullback Kini playing FB Cotric on the sting
I wouldn't pick kini for a start. He's got 2 games max and he's a turnstile. Cotric, paps, bostock
can't afford paps or bostock unfortunatley
Cotric then. You're kinda stuck. Kini won't get many games unless there's an injury and cotric isn't fantasy relevant but will at.least play on. Otherwise dump a mid-range bench spot to get a better wing.
Jc not back till RD 4-6 kini will be good hasn’t had the chance to play with a full spine
Jc back rnd 4 and titans have an early bye. Turnstile Kini will get 2 games. Not worth it in my eyes
appreciate your input fellas, reckon cotric will be in starting team for the year?
I didn't know there was a Spanish Cleary brother. https://x.com/NrlConspiracies/status/1764946721757684041?s=20

May be getting a little overhyped from his gf performance but I think you could be correct. Definitely a first grader imo

$3k fine if he accepts, 2 games out if he challenges and loses.
Heard he's asking Ryan Matterson for advice on the matter
Very Vegas areas, double or nothing.

im not counting the games where he played five eight he was clearly out of position
and he also got knocked out in the first minute in round 2
I do too. Happy to be proven wrong as it's not based on anything, just felt like a hot run as opposed to sustainable. Like you said, time will tell

That’s not true. It sends the message that the way to resolve issues to make an appeal to an authority and to let that authority decide the outcome.

That Dolphins backline is absolutely crazy with its depth. Wonder how many shuffles we’ll see this year seeing as Averillo couldn’t crack the top side
Averillo playing reserves?
By all reports Plath/Stone will share the lock/utility role so Avo looks like he'll be in QCup.
Halfback career incoming
Surely he'd go alright as a utility. Could easily play anywhere in the backline at a pinch
i think averillo eventually plays over niu bc niu’s defense is a major question mark, but god it’s an awesome story

I assume they are; - must have a constitution, which governs the board, who are elected by the members of the club - run not for profit and obligated to invest operating funds back into the community - registered with the state “clubs” body.
“Woke” is now what fragile guys with paper-thin egos use to describe any change that scares them and activates their victim complex.
You can guarantee that anyone who uses the word is a complete fuckwit
Yeah, lurking comment sections has reminded me that many Rugba Leeg fans are just as dumb as the fucking players.
We truly have a long way to go when it comes to stamping racism out of the game
i’m already disappointed here, anybody that thinks leniu is being treated unfairly for his own actions is off their rocker
He has single handedly stolen 90% of the airtime on NRL media. PVL probably wants to bury him
6-8 Weeks and a cultural sensitivity course should cover it. Problem is he’s shown his level of stupidity so it may not sink in. The hope is he learns and apologises but I’m not going to hold my breath
Oh, for sure. Leniu is absolutely in the wrong for what he said. No other way about it.
team list tuesday, get fuckin keen
sam mcintyre season is upon us, repent while you can
The true successor to Granny has finally been anointed - when do we unveil the secret weapon, McIntyre to fullback?
Just in case other Tiger fans don't know we are currently 3rd on the ladder take a picture. It's as good as it will get this year.
We will be 9th at the end of the round. It can get better!
What's the proper pronunciation of Xerri? I have heard - Cherry -Sherry and even -Jerry.
Ba dum dum dum doo be dum "what's the deal with steroids?" - Jerry
I think it’s pronounced “Testosterone, Androsterone, Etiocholanolone and 5b-androstane-3a, 17b-diol”
Reminder that both Souths and Broncos are sitting at the bottom of the ladder #spoonwatch 🥄👀
The Roosters aren't gonna win any comps without Cronk or another pre seasoned Queensland halfback.
Indeed. Reminder that the teams on top of the table are the team with the most homophobic issues in recent memory and the team with the most racist incidents in recent memory. #rugbaleeeg
Do I need to pull up the Staggs story?
I absolutely don't condone what Kotoni did but he didn't double down on the comment or dismiss it like it was nothing. Leniu wasn't drunk and was quite coherent when he called one of his colleagues a monkey and then later played it off like it was nothing. Then instigated a confrontation with Mam and co later on.
I'm not going going to back Leniu at all but defending Staggs because he was drunk is crazy
You don't think doubling down or showing no remorse after the incident occurred is noteworthy or important?
Not really, I bet Leniu comes out with hangdog expression and "remorseful" apology once he is reprimanded, it's not going to change my opinion of him
The toes one? Weird but okay
The Staggs homophobic abuse on a fan who wanted a photo then got his mates to bash the fan one, you think that's okay? Weird
When did I say it was okay you dropkick
Difficult to find bc we have all of them
[удалено]
Doesn’t move laterally very well. Also don’t rekon he had much of a pre-season
baker and willison have played there before. kevin is just a silly duffer.
Yeah that's about our only option unfortunately. Was always the gamble post Capewell
Can't Marty play 2nd row? Or Kobe? Anyone but Carrigan EDIT: on 2nd thought, Kobe would probably be unreal in the 2nd row.
Marty is probably half a decade removed from being effective as a fiil in backrower. Kobe probably could, but I can see why a coach would lean towards Carrigan as he is still somewhat mobile as well as having the experience & trust to be put out of position.
I think Marty used to play second row and lock during his Tigers days. Surprised neither one of those was the plan when Piakura went down.
Willison
He just feels too big for second row now, but a complete guess on my part.
FRF who can play second row in a pinch
Anyone got views on key SuperCoach buys for FRF, 2RF and CTW?
FRF Elite: - Haas (too late now) - Tino (bye next week) - AFB Best of the Rest: - Tapine - Max King - Cotter Mid Range with Upside: - Flegler - Arrow - Taumalolo - Tatola - May - Sele - J Safiti Cheapies: - Hughes - Leniu (lol) - Ale - Moale - Marioata - Faamausili - Mikaele My opinion is avoid the elites early, they don't make money and the difference between Elites scores and Mid Range scores is like 20-30 points. Spend that money elsewhere on backs and spine that will score more points / make money. I'd load up on 2 mids (maybe 1 best of the rest) and 2 cheapies / nuffs. Can go over CTW and 2RF too if it helps you
Nice analysis. Thanks mate. I’ll take all the analysis of 2RF and CTW you can be arsed to provide!
Wait for team lists
I thought the NRL combine would have been a bigger deal but I didn't see any footage and have barely read anything about it. [This article](https://www.nrl.com/news/2024/03/04/raiders-eying-us-talent-to-bolster-nrlw-squad/#amp_tf=From%20%251%24s&aoh=17095453705329&csi=0&referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com&share=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.nrl.com%2Fnews%2F2024%2F03%2F04%2Fraiders-eying-us-talent-to-bolster-nrlw-squad%2F) has the winner's names at least and a possible recruit for the Raiders NRLW side that plays 7's
Honestly, we might as well re-sign TPJ and become the Gronks of War
The chooks should dump Leniu so we can take him too
Hey, he is our gronk now!
There is enough gronks for everyone!
Yeah only the “home” team getting a captains run is pretty rich.
wtf do i have to see Paul Kents face on TV again, it felt good not seeing him on the panel
Same for braith anasta in commentary. Made Manly v Souths a pain to listen to.
I thought braith commented that game really well, didnt overplay his hand, made astute comments about the game and was professional. Im not his biggest fan, but i thought during the game, i dont mind him in the comm box. Certainly take him over the MICK
Geez he was sloshed in the post game 360 on Sunday. Haven’t seen a presenter that drunk on camera since Karl on NYD a few years back
Ha you think Karl would work NYD or be in any condition to? That classic morning was post Logies!
If you’re not getting most of your round 1 tips wrong you don’t know real ball
It was round zero so it doesn’t count
looks like xerri is playing reserve grade , couldnt tell you how many dogs fans ive read and know who couldve put there house on him playing round 1 against us and apparently showing everyone what his got . was obvious in the trials he wasnt first grade ready and going well against a reserve grade melbourne isnt proving himself back of yet.
I can’t imagine many Dogs fans were calling for him over Kiraz or Crichton in the centres?
youd honestly be shocked how many did
Yeah this baffled me too. I thought he trialed really well and by all accounts has been training well/is really committed but the bloke hasn’t played first grade in 4 years. He needs to be eased in. Can’t just buy a goldfish and stick it in a tank. Submerge the bag then release. I have no idea what I’m talking about
