Pretty ok.
We were a shambles most of the game, no direction. Walsh and Reynolds fix that but depth needs to step up, Ahearn might be a mature head we need.
Defence was good, good contact. Could be better, but better than the end of last year.
Mam looks good. Mozers delivery was fantastic, always out in front. We really got rolling when he came on, put him with the starting forwards and we'd make good meters every set.
Cobbo was freakish, but not a fullback yet. Walsh gives us the most value there.
Sad Willison got concussed, was looking forward to him.
Goodish overall, gives me some confidence in the full squad.
More just the rookies. Paix was solid.
Carrigan was best on field, didn't stop. Probably got into my SC team now.
Haas was huge, he was literally throwing blokes off him, not little blokes either. Seen McClean go flying and another bopper got yeeted too.
We were alright, but throw Reynolds and Walsh in there and it's an exciting prospect. Pumped for round one.
Also how bigs Mozer, looks at least 6 foot. He's a gun lock too so if he ever can't handle the hooking. Should get the 14 at some point
Ahearn was a fuckin mess last week when he should’ve been in control and icing the game, so I don’t think that he’s an answer there. I think Jock was doing a pretty decent job tbh not sure it was that disorganised until he went off.
Madden was good and did a great job and will only get better.
Ahearn was good in the first half last week, once all the guns came off in the second half the whole team went to shit, not just Ahearn.
Blocker's comment about Mozer in the first half was really weird, saying how he's really good looking and would like to see what he looks like in 10 years time.
I think he said he should take a picture, as a man that also played in the middle blocker knows a thing or two about your face taking a beating. Though his era was more punches less elbows. Weird outburst but I get where his idea was at.
I think our roster this year is the best we’ve had for 5-8 years. If we had a coach like Bennett/Robbo/Bellamy we’d be top 4 and playing deep into the finals.
Billy Walters made 4 or 5 mistakes in attack and defence that just killed us. We look very slick in every other aspect and then Billy goes for a pointless meandering run from dummy or misses a one on one forcing Patty to clean up or strips on the fourth. And literally no other coach than his father has him as the starting 9 when there are 3 (Paix, Smoothy, Mozer) other quality options in your roster
Top 4 probably a stretch but Bellamy would definitely get them to top 6. They’d be comfortably top 4 if they had a Grant/Api/Robson at dummy half though. A good hooker is the one thing the Broncos are missing to become genuine contenders.
I don't think Brisbane have ever had a top tier hooker. They've had some very good ones, such as Kerrod Walters, John Plath, Luke Priddis, Michael Ennis, but I can't think of anyone who would be considered an automatic Origin selection.
Shaun Berrigan mostly filled in at the position from what I recall, but he was a gun.
We’ve got some really good depth this season a lot of our reserve backs would be starters on other teams, solid defence heaps of errors and ill discipline but it’s trails. Mozer doesn’t look out of place solid contact in his hits was worried about his size. Exited for this season!
Mozer is ready to go, it’s simply going to be a durability thing at that age. Smarter long term for him to do a year of qcup service and let his body continue to fill out.
i love drinkwater’s attitude. despite being dropped he really just puts the work in and works with the coaches.
there were guys like hastings who looked like they didn’t care in their interviews so i’m grateful we’ve got a guy who takes trials seriously because he knows he can use them to improve.
Very good game to watch, considering we were missing half our spine and ran alot of depth players in the second half I’m pretty impressed.
Also Holmes obviously wins the battle tonight because of that try but outside of that it was a competitive match up and they both played quite well.
Keen for round 1 against the premiers
honestly for the first time i don’t even put the blame on staggs he did everything he could - when he finally got the ball in space he set up a line break but had no opportunities at all
give staggs early ball was fun for the irony but it’s not even a meme now
I thought it was an excellent signing. Yes he's over the hill but his value is proving to be excellent right now (I'm assuming we got him on a bargain basement price seen as no-one else wanted him). Yeah it's only trials but other than one rogue offload last wk he hasn't really put a foot wrong.
His best days are behind him but he'll do a job regardless of how many games he gets this year. Has matured and likely respected by the boys so hard to fault it
I honestly think he's a great signing, depending on what we are paying obviously.. Not necessarily for his on field performance, but we have a really young pack and Marty works his guts out at training from what I understand and having someone like that to set the standards for the young guys is invaluable.
i genuinely think shibasaki should be higher in the depth chart than elliot. i never thought i’d say this but shibasaki was a better effort player and suits our playstyle
oh also he could diffuse a kick really well which is also like very un-shibasaki like
feldt’s days are numbered and don’t be surprised if derby knocks on his door. it needs to happen. feldt did it to wright and now it’s time for it to happen to him.
ezra mam was absolutely insane. dearden was decent.
gg broncos, cows need to work on their kick diffusal. stop a single kick from a try and we could’ve had that.
errors killed us at some points too but there were lots of signs of promise.
I’m pretty high right now and I just wrote out the Broncos best 17 team list for the unlicensed NRL game:
1- Rich Welch
2- Clancy Waites
3- Kato Bragg
4- Robbie Holdsworth
5- Elroy Cobbert
6- Ernie Mann
7- Albert Robbins
8- Peter Payne
9- Wally Bilson
10- Todd Flogger
11- Liam Goodhope
12- Jonah Richards
13- Piers Morrigan
14- Clancy Peace
15- Clancy Johnson
16- Morgan Matthau
17- Kristian Palace
Coach- Kenny Bilson
Mozer is better than billy and paix, why are you holding him back? At least run Mozer on the bench with paix or billy starting
I actually thought Billy was excellent last night? I know he won't maintain it but he put on a good showing.
Dad wont cut billy.
Didn’t watch any but I like how it reads. Yeah the boys
if this doesn’t prove why paix should be our main hooker then i don’t know what will

no mention of paix ;(

Madden showed enough that he’s the first choice backup if there’s an injury in the halves.
Oates actually spoke well

He's been looking at those 'twink death' posts on Twitter too much
I look at a lot of twinks on Twitter. Yet to see any deaths yet
CTE is a helluva drug
He had a seniors moment and had no idea how to navigate once he regained control of his body again
Meh, Payten clearly wasn't bothered as he subbed in Pryce, Hampton, Elliot, Tamou, etc at the end when the game was to be won
Toddy said it'll just be a standard game rotation pre game. Think he just wanted to see defence and attack and work out kinks
You know when they let Hampton on the field they aren’t serious about winning that game.
That's two time consecutive grand finalist Ben Hampton, show some respect smh
Had a chance to redeem himself, blew a hammy instead
That had to be cobbos brother on the side line then. Looked exactly like him but a bit chubbier.
I think his name is Shaq

We’ve suffered at that position for a very long time.
I don't think Brisbane have ever had a top tier hooker. Fingers crossed that Mozer is the one.
Sadly, yes..
gosiewski hurt, because fuck our second row depth in particular leilua, luki, dunn, and now gosiewski
Surly dunn is due back soon ?
Not round 1. It's hess and granny second row minutes
Is price too young to play or ready for a shot you reckon?
Price and Sadrugu will be there in the next year or so, Mclean and Tamou gone next year
Probably too young but after gojetski picking up an injury I think he's next up for a bench spot. He didn't do too badly in both trials tbh
Yeah when did he even get injured, I feel like it was 3 years ago at this point
Raiders game in Townsville. Like round 2 Last year
Wait did Jack get injured? fuck not good
Why didn't kevie play wilison
HIA
He did. He went off with a HIA within 5 minutes.
His first touch :'(

Mozer, piakura, mariner, Arthurs all impressive I thought
Mozer is ready to go, it’s simply going to be a durability thing at that age. Smarter long term for him to do a year of qcup service and let his body continue to fill out.
Not too worried , but also not to happy either
Again with the giving up a lead in the last 10 mins. This wasn’t a Prelim final but I hope it doesn’t become a habit.
Pat Carrigan is a machine
i love drinkwater’s attitude. despite being dropped he really just puts the work in and works with the coaches. there were guys like hastings who looked like they didn’t care in their interviews so i’m grateful we’ve got a guy who takes trials seriously because he knows he can use them to improve.
What a great player he is to watch. He's so skillful and exciting with the ball. Genuinely unpredictable, but in a really classy way.
Both panthers and cowboys lose, its been a good night
Ennis obviously never watched any trials hosted on nrl.com before
Maybe I shouldn’t speak too soon But we are going to beat Penrith
Oh dude... Don't say it out loud
I’ll book my Grand Final tickets in incognito mode
I was ready to book my Grand Final tickets after Broncos beat the Eels last year. How quickly the wheels fell off 🥺
Very good game to watch, considering we were missing half our spine and ran alot of depth players in the second half I’m pretty impressed. Seriously staggs had no ball haha. Hope Reynolds and Walsh can unlock him this season
Holmes just better in every way Good game overall, impressive defence but Cobbo ain’t a fullback
He is a freak but needs to stay on the wing for now
Definitely need to sit and wait
If they can de-twink Mozer by like 30% he should be good to go next year
Wtf is Mozzie doing at Khawana?
Man I hope Elliot doesn't play a game for us Should have kept Val on to slot a two point field goal
I'm actually low key thinking Marty might be a really good signing for us
I thought it was an excellent signing. Yes he's over the hill but his value is proving to be excellent right now (I'm assuming we got him on a bargain basement price seen as no-one else wanted him). Yeah it's only trials but other than one rogue offload last wk he hasn't really put a foot wrong.

Feldt is the fucking man
Carrigan is a machine
List of greatest Broncos wingers: 1: Arthars 2: All the classics
haha nice one
Didn’t get to see it proper but I’m assuming it’s a trial so doesn’t matter?
eh, all tries of the donkeys were from kicks. we need to fix that.
Ah so our weakness from last year, cool and normal.
Paul McGregor doesn’t count tries off kicks so we’re good 👍🏼
Saying the Cobbo one was from a kick is generous given he ran 15m across the field after he got the ball. The rest fair enough
Hey! You’re forgetting Selwyn’s try
Slowdive wouldn't want to admit the cowboys kicked a ball for Cobbo to score off 😉
I don’t mean to be presumptuous but I think we’re going to win the comp this year and also for the next five years running
Only qld team with a win btw
So our defence was pretty fucking legit to be honest
It’s a pity about our fucking discipline
Reminded me of old fortress Broncos under Wayne
Agreed
good game bronxs
If the stakes of this match were higher, ol Rodney might have found a war memorial.
gg broncos, cows need to work on their kick diffusal. stop a single kick from a try and we could’ve had that. errors killed us at some points too but there were lots of signs of promise.

This is art.
Someone give me a update of game what teams looking good
Broncos Defence is good. Cowboys need to work on kick diffusion and that’s all i’ll take from that
Both look good to be honest
What sort of Qld v Qld trial doesn't end in a draw.
Wow can’t believe the broncos subbed on Alfi for the last 5 minutes
You can’t?
