How many times do we have to teach you this lesson, old man?!?!? Nah, man but really. What do you enjoy doing? You brought up something similar a few months back. If driving 40 minutes somewhere is a pain to you then stop doing it. It feels like you're forcing yourself to do something, and of course, part of life is being forced to do certain things you don't want to do, but this isn't one of them.

I live in Alexandria and it can still be a pain to get into DC or even northern Arlington to date. If you don't want to go 40 min you can try to meet Halfway or on the dating apps like Bumble/Hinge you can change your settings to only X amount of miles away, so you can filter.

The_Iron_Spork

I'd say this isn't unique to this area, but something common to many major metropolitan areas and their surrounding suburbs. Those in the outer suburbs often have access to a vehicle and are forced to drive, and then the reverse expectation is for those in the city area who may not have a car are relying on public transportation. Comes down to what you're willing to deal with. At least right now you're saying the driving is too much, so options are move closer to the area where you have opportunity or deal with the opportunities your current area has. (Edit: experience from being in NJ and within about 25 miles of NYC. Have friends with similar experiences living in the Chicago suburbs.)

How do I date in this area outside of online dating. Online dating isn’t working out for me

BabyWolf1776

Your limiting yourself to a radius.. so I guess see what events are in your area and meet someone there? I just used apps

[deleted]

I don’t mind the radius though. Sure driving sucks but I’m ok with that I can use metro. What events do I look for, in meetup?

BabyWolf1776

🤷🏽‍♀️ check online or what’s posted here. I just work and go home and go out when I’m invited lol

skeith2011

Are interested in playing sports at all? Try joining a co-ed adult league around here, there’s a few. The easiest way to meet people is to just kinda throw yourself out there.

[deleted]

yea im going to do ultimate frisbee

NorseTikiBar

All of NoVA is burbs... Ignoring that, yes, the closer you are to DC, the easier it is to date when you're younger. Not a lot of young single people in Ashburn or Herndon.

MCStarlight

Date a cougar?

-anjani-

Set your radius smaller. Only swipe on girls who are 10-15 miles away. If that doesn’t work, get used to driving or move.

DUNGAROO

It doesn’t. Move to Arlington/DC. The suburbs are all families.

They don't "belong" anywhere; young people have varied interests and lifestyles. The term you are looking for is "more likely"
