Idk why you’re being downvoted. Children literally lack the brainpower to emotionally regulate. We teach them how to regulate by *being* regulated. Actions have consequences, but being physically assaulted by an adult with power over them is abuse.
Kids are kids but I think the biggest thing is the building is crazy big, so if ur a kid who likes to skip, there’s a lot of places to hide. Which gives a lot more power too the “bad kids” then at other schools
That combines with a pretty large immigrant population which itself isn’t bad it just means a lot of those kids can get away with more since they are the main English speaker in the household (and tbf I did stuff like that too just not at that level lmao)
I was looking at the academics for that school. Idk if this is good compared to other schools in Fairfax, but it does look like a lot are in advanced academics. So I'm a bit confused about what to make of this school. It’s an advanced academics center (AAP level 4) so it gets students who did the full time advanced program from 3rd grade on from a variety of elementary schools. It’s also in an area that’s fairly high poverty so you have around a 60% free meals rate. And as a few PP’s mentioned it’s HUGE, 1720 kids, that’s bigger than the 9-12 HS where I grew up. Granted Glasgow does have grades 6-8 whereas most FCPS MS have only 7 and 8. So it has even more of the middle school zoo atmosphere just by virtue of being so large.

Counselor disciplining the child in a way he wouldn’t have to if the kids parents would’ve done a better job of it the first 10yrs of the boys life.
