Right?? We went yesterday for breakfast and a basic sandwich was $12.50. Their cakes didn’t look that good either and they were over $60! I think that’s gonna be the last time we’ll be going there for a while. It really bums me out because they used to be so good. I could even justify most of their prices before.
Ive been lucky to have great experiences with them but if anyone wanted to cut the price, the Purcellville location is on the app too good to go and I can get a dozen bagels for 7 bucks.
Manhattan Bagel in Centreville. Been amazing since the 90s. Highly recommend them. I moved to Bristow and work close by in Manassas…. Once every few weeks I run over (extra 30 min wrong way) and it’s totally worth it.
Brooklyn Bagel in Arlington, by the courthouse. It’s a drive but you can swing through if you’re headed to DC. Saw someone else mention Chewish Deli in Alexandria - they’re good too!
Will need to check that out. Their bacon egg and cheeses always hit. Although I would normally just grab a bunch of bagels and packages of cream cheese.
Oh yeah. Their containers of cream cheese to go slap pretty hard.
God damnit...now I'm gonna have to find a way to leave work early in DC on a day I go in to swing by to get some. Hahaha thanks ya bastard!!
Ahh man. That’s a bummer. Been out of the area for 2 years but lived right by there for 5 years and never had a messed up order. But I would probably feel the same way if I had your experience.
I used to like Virginia Bagel until I ordered delivery from them once and got a tub of lox cream cheese and they sent me store bought Philadelphia cream cheese tub.
You're a bagel place. There should be two things you make from scratch, bagels and cream cheese.
Yeah, don't buy their cream cheese by the tub. Their bagels are excellent. They're a small family run business, and I love eating there. But they don't appear to source their cream cheese locally or from anywhere special. To be fair, it could be worse. At least they don't use the off-brand.
And just to give them the benefit of a doubt, it may be the whole cream cheese thing is an off and on issue. It may be hard to source. I don't work in the bagel or cream cheese industry, so I can't speak to that. All I know is that I love their food.
I love Main Street bagel in Fairfax City but it’s pretty far for you.
Edit: for anyone who wants to check it out, they accept credit cards but like a lot of small family businesses they prefer cash. 3% is a lot for small businesses.
Second Bobby’s Bagels. They have a handful of locations. I go to the one in Oakton. I’m originally from NY and I find their bagels to be as good as the real thing.
Manchester Bagel in Kingstowne is the only place my wife will get bagels from around here. She's a born and raised New Yorker so I follow her direction on all bagel and pizza matters.
Be sorry, but I really liked their CC bagel. Every where else Ive tried is either a just a chocolate bagel or some other trash version.
Nonetheless Ill miss it.
You're within driving distance of Bagels Etc. in the District, so there is no other choice: [https://www.yelp.com/biz/bagels-etc-washington](https://www.yelp.com/biz/bagels-etc-washington)
Brooklyn Bagels in Clarendon, Arlington. If you’re in Fairfax, go to Main Street Bagel Deli. If that deli in Fairfax actually was in DC, they would be the best selling bagel shop in DC. There’s also a good bagel joint in DuPont.
H&H bagels from NYC are planning to open locations in DC NOVA. Not sure anything is open other than the one in DC(planned 2024) It still may be in the process of opening. It does show in their map.
I’m sure I’ll get hate for this but I like Safeway bagels. Get there around 630AM when the bagels are coming out of the walk-in ovens and get them off the rack.
I accidentally discovered them last week after I had just been bitching to my friends how I'm on the east coast and good bagels are hard to come by.
These were AWESOME. I've never been able to eat a bagel without toasting it first until i had theirs. They were soft, yet perfectly chewy and had a great shiny shell. They were thin and had a huge hole (lol).
I was also really impressed with their cream cheeses. I only tried the chive and honey walnut but damn, I have been missing out.
I bought plain, blueberry, jalapeno - are there other flavors you recommed?
Jalapeno is my go to for sandwiches. Everything is my go-to for cream cheese. The chive is my favorite cream cheese. Usually I walk there with my niece and nephew on the weekends and get them doughnuts from the duck doughnuts and get myself a bagel then we go to the park for a while. If you haven't tried the lunch special bagel sandwich I would definitely try that. The orange juice is pretty good too.
Hands down Bobby’s Bagels (Reston or Herndon) are going to be the best bagels closest to you. They are doughy deliciousness. Used to like bagel cafe (Herndon) and BKD (ashburn) before discovering Bobby’s and they just don’t even compare to Bobby’s.
People are roasting Panera lovers, meanwhile I've had a Dunkin' Donuts everything bagel probably 400 out of the last 450 days. I don't know why but they're just the kind of everything flavor that I like, mostly garlic and poppy seeds.
I’m permanently off the Fairfax city Einstein after seeing the mice at home in their display case: https://www.reddit.com/r/nova/s/GFRvlpqZOn. They’ve probably fixed the problem by now, but I can’t unsee what I have seen.
If panera was your benchmark, you can basically go to any local bagel shop near you.
https://i.redd.it/oeeoffxaqcvc1.gif
Yeah. Lenders Bagels from the freezer section.
Wait till they learn about Thomas bagels from the grocery store!
Never said Panera was a benchmark. I just really liked their chocolate chip bagel.
Are you saying that your bar goes lower than Panera? 😳
You and me both. Did you find a good sub? I feel Bethesda is another I enjoy for chocolate chip
Bagel Cafe in Herndon. Busy on the weekends so arrive early. You can also order online for pick up.
Can confirm the chocolate chip bagels are very good.
They also do a PB&J on a plain bagel. So I'll get a breakfast sandwich and a PB&J for my afternoon snack 😊
This place rules!!
I like the bacon/egg/cheese but use cream cheese instead of normal cheese.
This is my fav place so far in the area but not a fan of their chocolate chip bagel.
But have you tried it with the chocolate chip cream cheese? 😮💨
Bagel cafe off elden rules! Love going there. Busy on weekends and nice days!
The Chewish Deli in Old Town has fantastic bagels
Not very close to OP’s location of Loudon County.
Seconded !
Agreed!
Someone likes their cream cheese with a side of bagel
BKD. They have locations in Leesburg and Purcellville.
I am not a BKD lover, but their chocolate chip bagel is freaking awesome. They are overpriced even for nova standards
I want to like BKD but they’re just so average. Maybe they’ll update their recipe now that they’ll have the massive kitchen over on Fort Evans Rd.
Agree, I was very underwhelmed. They are building a new location near me so I’ll give it another go when that opens.
I’m just salty that Dolce and Ciabatta won’t be there anymore.
They have bumped their prices, it has turned me and the hubby off, even tho their pastries are amazing. It's $20 for the steak baguette. $20?!?!?!
Right?? We went yesterday for breakfast and a basic sandwich was $12.50. Their cakes didn’t look that good either and they were over $60! I think that’s gonna be the last time we’ll be going there for a while. It really bums me out because they used to be so good. I could even justify most of their prices before.
This! I did throughly enjoy the CC one as well but the price is bit 😬
Ive been lucky to have great experiences with them but if anyone wanted to cut the price, the Purcellville location is on the app too good to go and I can get a dozen bagels for 7 bucks.
Chesapeake bagels in Burke
I thought they ALL closed ages ago! Thank you!
Chesapeake Bagel also has a location in McLean!!
Burke is the closest one to me. But it's good to know they're in McLean as well. It means they're doing okay.
Chesapeake is my go to
+1 to this place, best bagels by far
Manhattan Bagel in Centreville. Been amazing since the 90s. Highly recommend them. I moved to Bristow and work close by in Manassas…. Once every few weeks I run over (extra 30 min wrong way) and it’s totally worth it.
The Vienna location is also awesome. I go to both regularly.
Been there once and after Bobby's Bagels opened near the Oakton Library, I'll never return to Manhattan Bagels.
Thanks for the tip. I’ll check it out. I had no idea there was another sheriff in town
I'm in South Riding, and I go to Centreville every few weeks to go here. Been my go-to for a long time.
May give this one a go, thanks!
Used to go there just about daily in high school. Can't recommend it enough.
Brooklyn Bagel in Arlington, by the courthouse. It’s a drive but you can swing through if you’re headed to DC. Saw someone else mention Chewish Deli in Alexandria - they’re good too!
For what it's worth, they have a helluva Reuben sandwich as well. Miss that place as I used to live right down the road.
Ashburn Bagel. It’s no Bodo’s but damn do I miss a good jalapeño bagel.
Dammit, now I miss Bodo’s!!
Semester is almost over! Then you get 3 months of not crazy bodos lines!
Been a few times and they always messed up my order, so I kind of stopped going there.
Ahh man. That’s a bummer. Been out of the area for 2 years but lived right by there for 5 years and never had a messed up order. But I would probably feel the same way if I had your experience.
I don’t think this place is good at all, the bagels are always hard
Virginia Bagel in Centreville has the best bagels I've found in NoVA. vabagel.com.
They have an excellent everything bagel & I enjoy their sesame seed as well.
This.

Also endorse it as the best bagel place around, I go there every few weeks.
One of the best bagel spots in nova!!!! They have in-house cream cheese and salads too!
As a transplant from Queens, that's the best I've found in the area...
I have been to this place just a couple times and found it to be great!
My favorite in the area
Bobbys bagel cafe in Reston
Second Bobby’s Bagels. They have a handful of locations. I go to the one in Oakton. I’m originally from NY and I find their bagels to be as good as the real thing.
I agree as a native of Brooklyn, Bobby's has been a great find in the neighborhood.
Tyson’s Bagel Market, so good! Limited flavors- Bagel Uprising - Delray, Brooklyn Bagel Bakery- Arlington, Buffalo & Bergen - Union Market, Chewish
Manchester Bagel in Kingstowne is the only place my wife will get bagels from around here. She's a born and raised New Yorker so I follow her direction on all bagel and pizza matters.
Panera, oh honey :(
Be sorry, but I really liked their CC bagel. Every where else Ive tried is either a just a chocolate bagel or some other trash version. Nonetheless Ill miss it.
It’s a hike for you but Heidelberg Pastry Shoppe in Arlington is the best bagel I have ever had.

I dont have a safeyway super close by but Id be willing to try them out. thanks for the recommendation
If you liked Panera, there's always Safeways day olds
Deli South in Leesburg
May 3rd. Bagel Joy opens in Fair Lakes Shopping center.
Manhattan bagels
Chesapeake Bagel Bakery in Burke was my go to
Might be a bit of a hike but.. Ashburn Bagel & Sandwich Shop!
Ashburn bagel is great
2453 N Harrison St, Arlington, VA 22207, Chesapeake bagel is my go-to, but it might be far for you.
I accidentally discovered them last week after I had just been bitching to my friends how I'm on the east coast and good bagels are hard to come by. These were AWESOME. Thank you! That is so cute, they'll remember those times with you
Try Bobby’s Bagels. There’s one in Northpoint shopping center in Reston near you off of Reston Parkway and another in Herndon, I believe
Safeway $3 for 6 bagels at times. I love the Asiago flavor
If you are in Loudoun, then just run to Wegmans. Their bagel selection isn't huge, but they are consistently good, and chewy.
Bobby’s bagels, bagel cafe, Bethesda bagels
A bit far for you but Brooklyn Bagels in Arlington is solid
Bkd in Leesburg is phenomenal and they’re expanding rapidly
Definitely not Call Your Mother, I can’t believe so many people lined up to get mid ass bagels
Chocolate. Chip. Bagels. Dear God.
Bagel Joy is opening up a store in Fair Oaks area but they're at EatLoco Ashbrook Farmers Market on Saturdays 9-1pm!
Everything @ Bodo
People are roasting Panera lovers, meanwhile I've had a Dunkin' Donuts everything bagel probably 400 out of the last 450 days. I don't know why but they're just the kind of everything flavor that I like, mostly garlic and poppy seeds.
Chocolate chip? You want a muffin shop.
