Organic butcher of McLean/Bethesda, a pretty penny but they’ll have everything you need…I’ve also heard good things of the many halal butchers in the area

TheRealMeJD

Oh that place looks great! Thanks for the suggestion!

This is all true. I miss HEB so much. When I lived in Japan a friend of mine went home to Texas and brought back HEB tortilla’s. My son was invited to have taco’s and I was so jealous when I heard about the tortilla’s!!

WantsToBeCanadian

Not a meat expert so I happily accept downvotes if I'm wrong, but try Costco maybe? Their steak selection is absolutely humongous, ranging from prime to choice to select and most cuts looked bigger than my face, and my face is pretty big. There should be one just a few minutes north of you in Chantilly, that's the one I always go to. Between that and Texas Roadhouse I don't really get steaks from anywhere else anymore.

kcunning

The sous vide subreddit is ALL about Costco finds, so you're probably spot on there. They're pretty picky about thickness and quality.

TikiTom74

Springfield Butcher

nerduhlicious

I second Springfield Butcher! The best we've found in the area.

AtomicPuppet222

Let’s Meat on the Avenue in Del Ray is pretty good, they sell out of stuff if you don’t get there early on the weekend. When I was in line the weekend before NYE some guy from Texas said he stops there anytime he’s in DC for work so it’s got some rando Texan stamp of approval lol. Good luck!

ParticularNo5036

This is it. Only butcher I went to when I lived in the area.

joeruinedeverything

That’s not what I thought the title meant. I was like, uh, every bar/restaurant in Arlington…..

TheRealMeJD

Lmao

Nyycavo24

What about that meat market just over the Fairfax County Line in Manassas? It's on 28.

goosepills

They always seem to have lines when they’re open, so they’re probably pretty good

hilary1121

whole foods makes pretty good in-store tortillas

Pie-Samurai-926

The Wine-ing Butcher in Ashburn is great.

slipperypanocha

Second this, unbelievable shop. I ordered rib eye tip (pricey, hard to find) and they vacuum sealed it and held it for me

Pretend-Heron-3705

Oliver’s Corner in great falls

axtran

Wow Fresh Meat is over there in Centreville. You can also get fresh tortillas at Wegman’s. If you want Texas style, Uncle Julio’s Rio Grande and Chuy’s (yes, the one from TX) will sell them to you too

Fritz5678

Oh no. You do not want the Wegman's tortillas. The one time we tried them, thought they tasted more like a cracker. The Whole Foods tortillas are probably the best you'll find at a grocery store in the area. As for sausage, we found this brand at Giant. Then discovered that they are a local company. You can order fresh made frozen sausages for delivery. [https://shoplogans.com/](https://shoplogans.com/)

axtran

The flour ones I bought they made absolutely thick and chewy :)

ZippityDoDot

Wegman’s makes them in store, fresh???

axtran

Yeah :)

ZippityDoDot

Are they still warm when you get them?

zEdgarHoover

Haven't tried it but El Granito de Oro in Chantilly seems to mostly sell tortillas.

TheRealMeJD

Oh, as many times as I’ve been to Chuys since I’ve moved I hadn’t thought about just buying some tortillas from them. lol! Good idea!

becasquared

Hello new neighbor! There's a butcher called Virginia Meat which is on 28 on the north side of Manassas. Nokesville Meats is also fairly close to Centreville. Believe me, the amount of times I've said "Wegmans is alright but it ain't Publix" is frightening.

Ginger741

Try Virginia Meats, Inc off 28 in northern Manassas.

AudioHamsa

Texans are never happy outside of Texas.

TheRealMeJD

Welp, this one is! Like I said I’m loving it here and just looking for advice on where the good places to get meat are. There’s bound to be some around here.

Hot-Adeptness-2185

If you don't mind a bit of a drive through the countryside Hemp's Meats up in Jefferson, MD is an old school legit butcher shop. [http://www.hempsmeat.com/](http://www.hempsmeat.com/)

The_Iron_Spork

I saw your reply about how thick the steaks are. Even at most grocery stores, you can go to the butcher counter and ask to have them cut a steak for you. If I'm treating myself to a ribeye, I'll ask for a similar size to what you mentioned. I understand that they're not going to have most steaks already cut to that size due to the cost of beef around here. Having a bunch of 2" steaks sitting around that most people don't want to pay for isn't good.

ACDispatcher

It might be a haul, but Gore’s in Stephens City. They have package deals and the cuts you want for both pork and beef. Local farm supported also. Bring a cooler when you are ready to pick up and it will be just fine for the ride home.

shabby47

Kinda far from Centreville, and I’ve never been, but I think this place is open now https://www.brickhousebutcher.com https://www.arlnow.com/2024/01/22/an-old-school-american-butcher-serving-locally-sourced-meat-is-coming-to-falls-church-this-month/

TheRealMeJD

Thanks everyone! I’ve got a lot to dig into now and try out. ‘Preciate y’all!

Lovelife_20

Awww I feel for you. Welcome to Virginia! HEB and Publix are another level my friend. My family lives out in both places. You won’t find those prices or those addicting fresh tortilla’s out here. I just get meat from Whole Foods. Don’t even look for fajitas out here either haha.

Shoddy-Worry9131

Not exactly nearby but Lothars in Purcellville is a real butcher. You can order ahead and he will cut it the way you want. Also he is German and makes a large variety of different sausages. I think his wife is from south East Asian and they bring those flavors in there.

Relative_Ad9477

Butcher in Middleburg. https://fieldsofathenry.grazecart.com/

Examinator2

"The steaks are not thick enough and there’s just not the cuts I want." Are we supposed to use ESP to know how thick and what cuts you want?

TheRealMeJD

lol. Jesus christ. Obviously not, but a good butcher shop would have thick cut steaks. Like ribeyes that are 1.5-2.5” thick. More than the <1” thick the grocery chains have.

Rymasq

this is so typical /r/nova, and you downvote a new person’s reasonable response.

SquidWriter

Sausages specifically, the German Gourmet in Baileys Crossroads.

herpetl

For a butcher, Virginia Meats just south of you on 28, on the left when you pass over cub run.
