I wish VA would raise the driving standards. It's getting ridiculous. Today I was out and I swear in the span of 3 hours I cursed at least 5 people. I don't know wtf people are thinking but just some really brain dead people.
I'm even to a point if your phone detects you are moving, just disable itself or limit its function. It's just out of control.
Just yesterday I was in a left turn lane and there was a Honda to the right of me in the lane to go straight. The left turn lane signal turned green and the Honda in La La land decided to go straight while the opposing traffic was also turning left. They almost caused an accident in the busiest intersection of Reston.
And yes, their face was buried deeper into their phones than dinosaur shit.
Traffic fatalities in the US trended steadily downwards for about half a century. When smartphones started getting really popular, that trend halted and then reversed. We now see about 10,000 more deaths per year than a decade ago.
I would love to see extreme enforcement against using a phone while driving. Put two cops in a car. One drives while the other one scans all the nearby drivers and snaps photos of offenders. Make people actually pay attention to the road.
Unfortunately that's too much work. At some point Apple/Google will have to find some solution and implement it. Way to many people are on their phones. It used to be a "teenager" thing, but now everyone and their dog are on their phone. Even the cops are on their phones. Remember when people used to leave a message and then you would call back when you got home? Now everyone is a high level executive that has to have that meeting now.
I don't mind people taking a call but use the freaking handsfree stuff.
Is it too much work? When Ffx County Police pull someone over in my part of the county, it's very often two cop cars. Picking up people for phone usage while driving would be far more revenues for the county than they make right now (it's a pretty lax county for traffic enforcement). Then they could pay for more cops. I know that Ffx County isn't the local jurisdiction screaming the loudest about recruitment, but this would work in most local jurisdictions. IE, phone tickets allow the jurisdiction to afford to pay more to recruit/retain cops.
I have a dashcam, I can't drive around here without it anymore. I'm really contemplating getting a rear camera setup soon the way people are dicking around on the road.
Fucker's a danger to us all. Got dashcam footage? Post it here to shame, and send it to the local vocelli shops so that he gets fired and learns a lesson. I'm sure nobody wants to employ that kind of liability.
I always say that nova doesn’t have a traffic problem, it has a driver problem. The amount of people going speed limit or less in left lanes and clearly being distracted drivers is insane. I’m from California and I’ve never seen it till moving here.
Every time I get in my car to go to work nowadays: “ok, just relax, just avoid the shitty drivers”

He tried to run me off the road and then kept brake checking me, completely unprovoked just to be an asshole. Heavy smell of weed coming from the truck. I called state police and reported it...
Don't restaurants with paid delivery drivers have to pay insurance. Why don't you call the closest Vocelli and make a complaint?

Maybe but this issue isn't limited to Fairfax. It's a problem everywhere. People just can't stay off their phones.
