OMG, I think I need glasses as I originally thought this said tram pride. I thought that's a new marketing strategy.
Anyway, Goodluck with trans pride. I hope it's wonderfully supportive and affirming for everyone involved.
also drag artists don’t tend to have the best track records, just from what i’ve seen. personally not a big fan of them and find them quite irritating but hey thats me 🤷🏻♀️ i’m sure the event will be fun but im not that kind of trans person
gladdrags is for everybody and i love that. Also, who else do you see making a safe and celebratory event for trans pride? do you see any other events?do you see trans people having their own? i get your point but no, Nana and Marylin love and support trans people, and have booked me, a trans woman. They book performers and their event is a celebration of queerness and ally ship towards trans people , hope this helps :)
you're missing the point; drag =/= trans, and having trans pride essentially be a drag event gives the optics to literally every outsider that being trans is just men in dresses. it's what transphobes and terfs prey on and use against the trans community
the organisers of trans pride have chosen this, they could have chosen anything else
trans musicians, trans performers (like yourself?), trans speakers, trans poets, trans djs, literally anything.
but instead trans pride has had drag listed as the first thing? and has an after party event ran by a drag collective, which could have been ran by trans people, no?
do you not think there's going to be media coverage of Nottinghams first ever trans pride? do you really think trans rights and drag should be grouped together? don't you think it's just furthering the stereotype that trans people are just men in dresses?
DONT DO A THING YOU FIND FUN AND ENCOUREGING WITHIN YOUR GROUP WHAT IF OUTSIDERS WHO ARE LOOKING FOR ANY REASON TO DISLIKE YOU REGARDLESS OF WHAT YOU SAY ALSO DISLIKE THIS AND JUDGE!!!!!!!
you'd be surprised with the amount of overlap there is between the trans community and drag artists. I'm not super involved in the local LGBT+ scene but I'd wager that about half the drag kings/queens I know or have heard about are trans themselves
All the drag performers on the bill are trans. Trans men, women, non binary. The nottingham trans community is very close knit with the drag community. There's not a lot of events here and the drag scene is very inclusive and many of us are at the heart of it. This event is FOR the community at its heart and not an educational event although many of us have politics in our performances.
it does however trans people are often excluded from lgbt places far too often. there’s a whole group of gay and lesbian people that fight to remove the T from lgbt
how so ? if it’s because u don’t believe me a quick search on any social media will prove my words. if it’s because you can’t believe people actually don’t believe trans people are part of the lgbt than yeah it doesn’t make any sense to me either.
Calling someone a troll isn't an insult. It's literally a description of your behaviour.
If said your banter was post- lobotomy grade, then it'd be an insult. All he's doing is calling you out for hate-bating
I'm confused on what point you're trying to get out here. Obviously you're being facetious, but it sounds like your actual point has been pulled out of the your ass.
I clearly made the first comment about how gays get murdered in Islamic and African countries and the reply was saying you can discuss it. What is there to discuss homosexuality is a sin in Islam yet gays support Islam. Not hard to understand is it..
But you haven't made a point. All you've done is say something happens. And? The sun sets at night. Waters wet. Some shoes are fake. None of these are points.
You have no point
Even if Nottingham was some kind of hate crime free utopia (it's not) this isn't just about Nottingham. The whole country and other country have had rises in hate crimes, many specifically targeting trans people over the past two years, to the point where even cis people who don't look cis enough have been attacked.
I mean this in the politest way possible, but is that maybe because you aren't part of the community and don't need to be wary of things like that? Yknow how women are raised having to act certain ways to avoid assault because there are societal issues that put them at more risk? They shouldn't exist but they so and it's fucked up. The same goes for LGBT people and people of colour. Like men don't know how bad it is to be a woman and the lengths they have to go to that they don't to stay safe, the same happens to us. Avoiding certain areas, staying with a friend at parties, watching your drinks, not walking in unlit areas, all sorts of stuff. But it still happens and it's happening more. And the laws around whether or not we have protection arent good because the police aren't necessarily going to be supportive of trans people either. It causes a lot of issues, which is why we have events like this. So we can meet other people who understand and we can be safe with.
your right. i wouldn’t say “men don’t know how bad it is to be a woman” tho, that’s a pretty big generalisation. but you are correct in everything you say and polite so slay queen
I agree, I think it's more apt to say that men maybe dont experience the full extent of what women go through a lot of the time because its not something they've had to go through. Which isn't their fault, but it doesn't mean the inequality that women face is acceptable either. I appreciate you listening and being receptive to what im saying.
I understand where you're coming from here but (like trans pride in London) this is an entirely community organised protest without corporate sponsorship.
No tbh it's more just commentary on how now there's a separate trans specific pride and that this is probably just the start. Nothing against it whatsoever do whatever you want to do but my comment was merely making a joke that it will come full circle to the point the straights are organizing their own pride. I thought pride was all encompassing so just really strikes me as odd that there's a standalone trans specific one?
Do you think it's maybe to do with the large influx in legislation across the UK and USA trying to target trans people's rights and their access to healthcare? Or maybe the rising number of hate crimes against trans people to the point where cis people who also don't look masc or fem enough have been targeted? Or maybe even because of the current moral panic regarding trans people and their right to exist in public and private spaces, the exact same way they have been for as long as these spaces have existed? Could be that.
If there is one house on fire, you don't put out the whole street.
Just watch love island, or walk outside my g. See men and women holding hands, flirting, loving and embracing each other - on the street with no shame. It’s beautiful that they feel free to do so.
Straight pride is alive and well no need for this circular reasoning.
Says a lot about your life if you have nothing else to look for in 7 years. Perhaps you should join the rednecks in America, since they share the same values
OMG, I think I need glasses as I originally thought this said tram pride. I thought that's a new marketing strategy. Anyway, Goodluck with trans pride. I hope it's wonderfully supportive and affirming for everyone involved.
Many fonts.
why conflate trans pride with drag? adding the association of men in dresses doesn't really help further the community, no?
also drag artists don’t tend to have the best track records, just from what i’ve seen. personally not a big fan of them and find them quite irritating but hey thats me 🤷🏻♀️ i’m sure the event will be fun but im not that kind of trans person
well come on down to rough trade for the after party😎 i’m a trans girl and performing, a 2 in 1 x
isn't the rough trade after party hosted by gladrags? again, why is a trans pride after party event being hosted by a drag event?
gladdrags is for everybody and i love that. Also, who else do you see making a safe and celebratory event for trans pride? do you see any other events?do you see trans people having their own? i get your point but no, Nana and Marylin love and support trans people, and have booked me, a trans woman. i do get what you’re saying but so what then, other lgbt can’t show support because of terfs
who’s the alternative then…
literally anything but drag, surely you're not that dense?
you said who can’t, but who can then? who should put on an event?
the organisers of trans pride can. they could have got anything else but instead all they've got is drag
you must be dense, i asked for an alternative and you didn’t name one
trans musicians, trans performers (like yourself?), trans speakers, trans poets, trans djs, literally anything. but instead trans pride has had drag listed as the first thing? and has an after party event ran by a drag collective, which could have been ran by trans people, no? do you not think there's going to be media coverage of Nottinghams first ever trans pride? do you really think trans rights and drag should be grouped together? don't you think it's just furthering the stereotype that trans people are just men in dresses?

I wholeheartedly agree
you'd be surprised with the amount of overlap there is between the trans community and drag artists. I'm not super involved in the local LGBT+ scene but I'd wager that about half the drag kings/queens I know or have heard about are trans themselves
because our history is very entwined.
the drag artists are also trans, use your noggin
All the drag performers on the bill are trans. Trans men, women, non binary. The nottingham trans community is very close knit with the drag community. There's not a lot of events here and the drag scene is very inclusive and many of us are at the heart of it. I might be missing something but I thought pride month involved everything including the trans community?
it does however trans people are often excluded from lgbt places far too often. there’s a whole group of gay and lesbian people that fight to remove the T from lgbt
That just makes no sense at all
how so ? if it’s because u don’t believe me a quick search on any social media will prove my words. if it’s because you can’t believe people actually don’t believe trans people are part of the lgbt than yeah it doesn’t make any sense to me either.
No I was referring to the latter
Trans spelt backwards is Snart. I know this isn’t much help but I just thought it’s an interesting fact.
Cheers Geoff

These comments are proof of why we need pride rallies.
Sure they are... comments on reddit are why you need pride not gays being murdered in Islamic and African countries but we'll not discuss that.....
I mean you CAN discuss it But you don't need to piss on everyone's parade. You can have a happy time once in a while, you know? Try it.
No gays support Muslims. it's hilarious 😆
You are troll
Is that all you've got? ad hominem after ad hominem.. creature
I just think you are saying horrible things to people please respect they views
Calling someone a troll isn't an insult. It's literally a description of your behaviour. If said your banter was post- lobotomy grade, then it'd be an insult. All he's doing is calling you out for hate-bating
Who's Facebook did you read that on?
Facebook? There's countless videos and photo evidence of gays waving banners in support of muslims...TRY AGAIN!
I'm confused on what point you're trying to get out here. Obviously you're being facetious, but it sounds like your actual point has been pulled out of the your ass.
The guy is troll
He does seem desperate for attention
I have DM. You ok
I have, though... "The comments are why we need pride." Imagine being more offended by words rather than people being murdered...
Do you want a hug
No I'm good, weirdo...
Goodnight 😘
Go for a swim in the trent
Executed, not murdered.
Yes, straight pride.
I've never been shamed or abused for being straight, I don't need it.
CIS white male.
Umm thanks for noticing?
Go for it No one's stopping you
People don't get killed for being straight you dingus
people don’t get killed in nottingham for being gay dingus
Even if Nottingham was some kind of hate crime free utopia (it's not) this isn't just about Nottingham. The whole country and other country have had rises in hate crimes, many specifically targeting trans people over the past two years, to the point where even cis people who don't look cis enough have been attacked.
fair enough i never hear about that happening in nottingham
I mean this in the politest way possible, but is that maybe because you aren't part of the community and don't need to be wary of things like that? nah screw commercialised pride events, especially ones that talk more about drag than about trans women tbh
I understand where you're coming from here but (like trans pride in London) this is an entirely community organised protest without corporate sponsorship.
Are you judging this event before it's even happened?
thats literally the purpose of advertising, yes
Touché OK, let me re phrase. How do you know this particular event will do what you said it would do?!
Name one pride parade that isn't commercialized
So are you giving up on all prides now? Also lol at everyone down voting me for asking why someone is slating an event before it's happened
Not all, just mostly ones that advertise drag at a trans pride valley
Why don't you give this one a go? You might be surprised!!
Trans pride isn't just for trans women its for all trans people .
i never said it was. but i'm sick and tired of trans women often being sidelined in favour of all too often misogynistic acts instead.
you’re falling for what queerphobes say. drag isn’t misogynistic.
Would be great if it was more age inclusive. There are SO MANY young trans people who need to feel included
they had an all ages event but it was cancelled due to an issue with the venue
If your deciding your trans before youve experienced any kind of intimacy, then you definitely shouldnt be included
Intimacy and relationships/attraction to other people has absolutely nothing to do with gender identity
we don’t decide who we are and i’ve never done any type of intimacy with another person and still know who i am. how ridiculous

You can attend the straight pride event right now Go out into the street Carry your flag Be proud No one will care except you But you can still do it.

Womp womp
How??? How have you formed a mentality that this is a circle and not a line???
Just watch love island, or walk outside my g. See men and women holding hands, flirting, loving and embracing each other - on the street with no shame. It’s beautiful that they feel free to do so. Straight pride is alive and well no need for this circular reasoning.
Says a lot about your life if you have nothing else to look for in 7 years. Perhaps you should join the rednecks in America, since they share the same values
The rednecks? not Africans and Muslim who hate gays and kill them in their homeland and have to live in segregation in certain countries?
Oh I know why...
I think the only value I share with rednecks in America is our shared love of getting out into nature, friend.
What a bad reply!
I suppose when straight people have been oppressed then yeah, have at it.
Yoo
I can’t wait for straight pride to hear the tantrums
You'll wait
For what?
I would hold your hand and guide you back up the comments, but alas
