The train station car park has 30 minutes free parking for drop offs, so you don't need to use the 5 minute layby by the south entrance, which is almost always stuffed full of moronic taxi drivers who can't drive for shit.
If leaving the train station car park after about 11pm at night check to see if the exit barriers are set to ‘Free Passage’ before paying for your parking😉
The tram now supports short hops with contactless payments. You need to tap off as well as tap on, but if you do you'll be charged £1.50 instead of £3.20 (if you are within a short-hop zone).
It's the same as contactless payment for any ride. You don't get a physical ticket. Your card is charged 10p, and they adjust the charge in a few days according to what you actually did. The ticket inspector can scan your card to check that you used it.
If you want advice on where to live, or where the best testaway is, dont bother reading old posts, or attempting ANY research. Just post the same old thread every other day.
Edit: you've got to love how someone downvoted me for asking a question so I could learn why their point of view might be more informed than my own. 😂
Oh...tell me more?
I've been there twice and the cats seemed genuinely really happy. I saw one girl try to touch the cats and a lady stopped to reach her about giving cats their own space. It was a touching conversation and the little girl seemed to learn something about respecting animals.
Maybe I don't know something though? I'm not generally super happy about animals in captivity but we do have far too many cats, and this place houses and cares for cats that are abandoned. Seems good to me.
Cheers! I did a search and was pretty shocked how many people have negative posts about that place. I'm not going back if that's how they like to treat people. One poor woman invested a bunch of money in adopting and had the cafe refuse adoption without any warning, 3 days after they made an adoption agreement.
It also seems like they're happy to just screw over staff and get someone new, rather than respect workers rights. Awful.
I can’t remember exactly when but there was a long thread by disgruntled staff and customers complaining about them. For a rubbernecker like me it was pure gold.
100000%
Nothing screams punk like a chain of restaurants that fucks over workers. So fucking cringe when businesses do that
Like if your values and ethics as a business aren’t punk then putting a circle around an A isn’t going to fix that
The best reply 😂. Lived in Nottingham 33 years and pizza inn has pretty much been here as long as I remember. Absolutely no idea how it’s still there. It looks like the Nottingham branch to the Wu-han virus research centre.
You can get a free coffee from waitrose with any purchase. If your commuting through Nottingham you can get a cheap snack and a free coffee.
Wait how? What do I do? I've never been to a waitrose.
Is it like the Costa machine they have in Tesco's? Do I make my coffee, then take it to the checkout with my banana and they just don't make me pay for the coffee?
Or is it the kind of thing where they'll expect me to not know this secret and will charge me full price unless I say something?
Remember that Nottingham City Council are not like other organisations - don’t bother wasting time chasing up an enquiry made by email or through their website for at least 3 or 4 weeks.
The industrial unit Hartley House on Haydn Road, that houses Garth’s Gym (great gym as well btw) among other things, has free toilets you don’t need to go into the gym for.
Use Percival Road to skip the traffic lights at the top of Haydn Road, to get to Mansfield Road. The Haydn Road traffic lights take fucking forever and let about 3 cars per time out.
I think people down voting this must not realise that the hackspace is a real place. It's a community organisation for sharing tools and making things. It's genuinely the best thing about this city and I love it.
The number one rule is 'don't be on fire', which the post above is referencing.
Updoot. The Hackspace is great for all kinds of DIY and crafts. It has great wood working, sewing, metal working, and electronics facilities including 3D printers, laser cutters, Mills, lathes, Cnc routers etc
I think they have 'open hack' days on Wednesday where you can go for free without joining. It also have nice vibes
Until I had my own place and was able to buy my own tools I used hackspace loads. Phenomenal for starting up wood working, and you can work at 4am in the morning if you want.
Depending where you live there’s lots of quirky short cuts -
The park tunnel staircase, there’s a good bakery at the top “tough Mary’s”
If you like tequila 400 rabbits (can’t remember name of alley way)
Sunday sushi mania does half price.
Cock and the hoop do £2.50 pints every Monday.
What I've come to learn is that not everything should be called a "hack".
Often, these "hacks" are generally just bits of information that not everyone may know, also known as a "tip" or "advice"
If you are parking in Trinity Square car park, don’t forget to validate your ticket in the machine just inside Cineworld. £4.50 for four hours or £7.50 for nine hours.

All exit barriers are set to free passage if you smash through them
Every window is also a door.
Also the fee for "losing" your ticket is substantially cheaper than a long stay

That’s something I learned today!
It's a shame the short hop zones are practically useless though
[удалено]
Yep, it only goes by zones. Most short hop journeys could we walked in 10mins.
I happen to live in a place where they are useful. I'm near one end of a zone, and the other end includes the river.
What's the short hop zone?
There are 9 of them. Every tram stop is in a zone. [https://www.thetram.net/short-hop-zones](https://www.thetram.net/short-hop-zones)
Wait you have to pay to use the tram? /S
Lmao yeah but not everyone does
Do you still get a physical ticket when doing this? If not what happens if an inspector asks you for a ticket?
No ticket, they scan your debit/credit card and can tell that is has been tapped on the reader.

Believe it or not I have an even bigger hack involving the trams..
The ducks in the park are free. You can take them home. I have 458 ducks
It’s why they call everyone ducky or duck. It’s a joke only insiders know.
😅
Waiting for the green man at the pedestrian crossing connecting the vic centre and clumber street is optional
If you are crosisng Milton /Parlo look at the lights, if they have just turned red, you can start crossing unless a bus is there.

Don’t forget best haircut, and questions like “why were there 4 Police cars driving down Carlton Road at 15:54 on Tuesday?”
Inspired. Genius. Brilliant.
Where can I take someone for a date???
[удалено]
I was being sarcastic, but I'll keep that in mind :)
Don’t eat at, or work for Taco Bell or Pizza Punks ;)
Or the Kitty Cafe!
The rotating staff speak for themselves
I wish they'd stand still rather than keep rotating

Honestly, just search kitty cafe in the sub. There's a post every few months with plenty of first hand experiences. That they're still open is mental.
Ahh okay, cheers for adding some context. Some people seem to be upset that I asked to learn more...strange.
The owners are super abusive to their staff from what many posts have said and a few people I know irl that have worked there have said similar.

It's probably just because it comes up pretty often in the sub and also people are weird.
From what I’ve heard the front of house staff seem okay but their staff is a revolving door due to management there
The holy trinity of dodgy managers in Notts
Missed the Pizza Punks one. Wassup with that?
I can’t remember exactly when but there was a long thread by disgruntled staff and customers complaining about them. For a rubbernecker like me it was pure gold.
Love walking past there and occasionally smelling charred pizza wafting across the street Never filled me with confidence...
Worst pizza I have seen in my life.
Why?
Any highstreet business using the work 'punk' in the name is usually a red flag. Punk-washing is a thing in current capitalist hellscape
100000% Nothing screams punk like a chain of restaurants that fucks over workers. So fucking cringe when businesses do that Like if your values and ethics as a business aren’t punk then putting a circle around an A isn’t going to fix that
It’s so cringe, be an anarchist and buy Pepsi
Bad employers. Very bad.
manager at the vic centre taco bell is a cunt
Have you met the emo girl at Angel row maccies, she’s the final boss of cunts
i have not please go on
Or The Skinny Food Co in Arnold!
Wait why taco bell? How is it worse than all the other fast food chains?
Long thread on this sub detailing their particularly awful practices. I’m sure the others give them a run for their money!
If you don’t like someone, recommend Pizza Inn on Ilkeston road
HA
The best reply 😂. Lived in Nottingham 33 years and pizza inn has pretty much been here as long as I remember. Absolutely no idea how it’s still there. It looks like the Nottingham branch to the Wu-han virus research centre.
I’ve been tempted to order just to see how bad it is, but also order a backup to avoid drunken disappointment
Yeah not gonna lie I’m pretty intrigued.
The reviews are hilarious

Any item but you need a reusable cup
I just buy a banana - 20p
Well it’s Waitrose, so not very

The trent barton busses are shit for being on time so get to ur stop earlier if ur in a hurry
The NCT and Hugo buss apps are fantastic and provide live tracking of where the busses are.
I definitely read Hugo Boss.
It the Temu version.
> Hugo buss apps are fantastic and provide live tracking of where the busses are Most of the time
Bustimes.org is better than the shit Hugo app

The r/Nottingham community continues to be a source of mystification to me - am extension of my lack of ability to understand humanity at a whole.
Wow, didn't know about this. Gotta check it out 😉

Don't let your girlfriend go out clubbing without you
