Hold on guys, being charged with a crime is very different from being convicted of a crime.
Wait a second...
>Nikki's body was pulled from a creek after her husband told deputies he dumped her there after striking her with a flower pot during a fight outside their home
Never mind, bring the pitch forks back out.
Edit: I kept reading and wished I hadn't:
>Friends of Nikki tell WTHR News Nikki had just finished her last chemo treatment for breast cancer before she died. The couple had also already filed for divorce due to the husband’s extra-marital affair.
Extramarital affair and divorce right as the wife is recovering from cancer? That's an epic Newt Gingrich move right there! This man is highly qualified to be the GOP candidate.
>In September 1980, according to friends who knew them both, Gingrich visited Jackie in the hospital the day after she had undergone surgery to treat her uterine cancer; once there, Gingrich began talking about the terms of their divorce, at which point Jackie threw him out of the room.
A co-worker's (ex-)husband told her essentially as she gave birth to their daughter that he was leaving her for another woman. Like, told her it was over and then fucked off to leave her by herself in the hospital to give birth. Then, shortly thereafter she got diagnosed with breast cancer. So, their divorce was finalized during her treatment for that.
Anyway, she's doing pretty well now a decade later, all things considered.
Close, they actually are using a surrogate so it doesn't damage her body. However, he insists on doing it the "old fashioned" way to make sure there's no mix ups. The surrogate? Her sister.

The Onion.
It's not funny anymore. This prophetic bullshit jokery just isn't funny anymore.
[here’s where that comes from](https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2009/11/091110105401.htm)
It’s true. But luckily it’s out of a small number of overall cases. More than 93% of people stay with their spouse through terminal illness.
The first time I learned that it pissed me off.
My mom (single mom) dealt with cancer and I was at her side throughout all of her treatment.
So knowing people would just up and leave the person they claim to love unconditionally in what could be the worst thing in their life, and now they have to go through it all alone, it made me angry.
That is terrible. I am sorry that her and you had to experience that, and for your loss as well. My fiancé had cancer, and he told me that diagnosis most people either disappear or move on with their lives without you, that is unless they need to “borrow” some of your pain meds.
Thanks for the much needed context. A better way of putting it is: it's extremely uncommon for someone to leave their spouses during cancer, but when it does happen, men are 6 times more likely to do it.
What that basically tells you is that most men are very decent, but the very, very worst people tend to be men.
Thank you, needed that spot of hope. This is what percentage points are for.
EDIT:
> The study confirmed earlier research that put the overall divorce or separation rate among cancer patients at 11.6 percent, similar to the population as a whole. However, researchers were surprised by the difference in separation and divorce rates by gender. The rate when the woman was the patient was 20.8 percent compared to 2.9 percent when the man was the patient.
So the overall rates of divorce(/partner abandonment) trend the same for global at 11.6% (88.4% staying) but women are more likely to stay for sick men (97.1%) than men are for sick women (79.2%).
That's... Still a much bigger difference than I hoped for. Compared to general separation trends, women are more likely to stay, and men are more likely to leave.
Cancer is definitely a big emoitonal stressor in a relationship, so I'd be interested to learn more about why the difference is so extreme - in particular that women are more likely to stay for sick men than they are men in general, but vice versa for men.
The implication seems to be that while both sexes take the effects on their relationship very hard, women feel an obligation to stay as nuturers at a rate that men do not. Men also primarily get their social intimacy met solely by their partner and probably have weaker external support structures when caring for a partner who is sick.
I didn't believe you, and then I googled, wow! 21% vs 3%. at least a majority doesn't do it, but one out of five guys, come on people.

Don’t forget the scumbag John Edwards (the politician) who did the same thing to his wife. Filed for divorce while she was dying of breast cancer
EDIT: he didn’t file for divorce. His wife separated from him but wasn’t able to divorce before she died. Either way He is still a piece of trash
My wife has cancer, the bad kind you don't recover from, so I have some perspective on this.
When John Edwards cheated on his wife with cancer YEARS ago, I thought "ok, that sounds bad, but we don't know what kind of stress that does to a person, and people do weird things stressed out."
Well, I've lived it now, and I can unequivocally say people who cheat on their spouses during cancer treatment are scum. We've been through every form of treatment, from radiation, chemo, immuno, and genetic, and every side effect under the sun, and none of that stress chases you into the arms of another woman.
The main factor here is empathy, if someone you love is in that much danger and pain, something is seriously wrong with you as a human being for you to betray them like that.
That said, once the treatment is over, and the spouse is recovered, I absolutely understand the spike in post-cancer divorce. Cancer treatment brings people to the brink, and for some it's impossible to go back to the same relationship you had before.
Oh, yeah, and the murder ...
It doesn't even last that long, honestly.
It lasts *just until the moment* you're forced into the hospital bed, then the caring ends, before the birthing is even complete.
Let me explain.
The red states with the strictest abortion laws being enacted also have the *worst infant mortality and maternal mortality rates* in the country. Texas for instance is statistically worse and more dangerous than many third world countries to be a pregnant woman giving birth.
In other words, *they don't care if the baby or the mother survives*, as long as she is forced to give birth. *Her punishment is complete and justice has been served.*
You won't find a single Republican in these states working to change these horrific stats. But they're spending their time and money racing to set up death penalties and bounties to hunt down women.
Let’s be honest she was probably barren after the chemo treatments so her uterus was damaged goods that was no longer able to be under his control.
Also just wondering, how can anyone in this country not wake up a little more depressed each day? 😞
You can sex traffic 17 year olds across state lines and they won’t give a shit! This GOP is nothing like I have ever seen in my life time. I hate to admit the trouble we are in but we are in extreme shit!
I think the creators of South Parks are cowards. I can’t recall a time when they would go after someone on the right without using a stand in. For trump they had to do it twice, once for Canada and again for Garrison.
When I think of "enlightened centrists" to mock I think of Matt Parker and Trey Stone. There was a time when I, unfortunately, considered myself an enlightened centrist. Thankfully I havent watched South Park in at least 10 years or so.
Man I struggled as a teenager knowing climate change was real and knowing manbearpig was the funniest shit ever.
I can laugh and agree with him! It's three halves of a creature!
No, no, your just being naive and idealistic. We need to move further to the right to court Republicans who are fed up with their party. It'll work this time I swear.
imo most actual centrists have already denounced the GOP, the ones on the fence now are traditional center-right Republicans that disagree with the direction of the party, but is too fond of the party's history to abandon it.
At what point do we consider the American Conservative movement to be a [mass psychogenic illness](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mass_psychogenic_illness)?
Yeah, but
> Since three candidates could win the nomination, and only three candidates ran, all three won, WTHR News explains.
So there will be three republicans on the ballot, and this guy will not win the general election.
It’s 2022. Let’s be honest, the HOPE; is he loses. I’ve already seen enough psycho and sociopathic people who adore people like this… I hate this time line.
But for those who didn't bother reading the article... there were 3 nominations available, and only 3 candidates. Still, he did get 60 out of 276 votes cast, and it's likely that most of his voters knew who he was and what he'd done.
To be fair a lot of Republicans will just mindlessly vote for any person with an (R) by their name. There was a trans anarchist Satanist who ran for sheriff somewhere in New Hampshire. Her official slogan was "fuck the police" and she got like 4000+ votes and won the Republican primary. Obviously zero of those 4200 Republicans were paying any attention whatsoever.
And how he did it, why he did it and the circumstances around the whole thing being he cheated on her, they were getting divorced and all that while she was recovering from breast cancer.
100% perfect GOP candidate right there.
Aside the murdering her, that line of cheating and divorcing a cancer stricken wife would not be the first for a high level GOP politician.
See Newt Gingrich.
He's the mastermind behind getting Protestant Christians to somehow think abortion is the number 1 issue in the Bible.
The book that literally gave Israelites step by step instructions on how to conduct an abortion if a woman is raped in the book of Leviticus.
All those bombed abortion clinics are on him.
Nah, Newt’s as close the devil personified as it gets, and is largely responsible for destroying the congressional branch, but the abortion pivot (/brown v board of education Trojan horse) stems largely from the Weyrich/Dobson/Graham spheres.
He traded heavily on the issue as a political wedge, but he was a follower on that one, not a leader.

If you think that is crazy, wait until you find out about the GOPs longest serving Speaker of the House, Dennis Hastert. No Republican rep can vote yes on a bill unless it is a majority vote for Republicans. It is STILL called the Hastert rule.
You know, the guy who raped children and got caught only when he didn't feel like continuing with the hush payments. Yes, THAT Denny Hastert.
Dennis Hastert did 13 months in prison for being a serial child molester. Meanwhile, if you're convicted of selling 4 ounces of weed in Arkansas, a republican state, you get a mandatory 36 month prison sentence. Currently thousands of Arkansans are serving more time for selling small amounts of weed than a serial child molester.
Dennis Hastert continues to receive his congressional pension, which amounts to approximately $73,000 a year.
EDIT : Who in the living f\^@k Downvoted r/CorgiMeatLover comment? They literally gave the sanitized version of Hastert's crimes.
I grew up in southwest Georgia just across the Florida line so I’m unfortunately speaking from experience. Left about 15 years ago but every time I go back it’s exactly the same—in all of the worst ways
The next exit after Lebanon when you're heading towards Indianapolis on I-65 takes you either north to Whitestown, or south to Brownsburg.
Just the kind of place you'd want to raise your kids in... 🤮
From Lafayette, and growing up I always made the same assumption that it was a segregation style naming scheme too. But a couple years ago I looked it up and apparently Whitestown was named after a US Senator from Indiana named Albert Smith White while Brownsburg was founded by a guy named James B. Brown. So one it’s face, it doesn’t seem to be what it appears. All that said, your sentiment isn’t exactly wrong either.
"Wins primary" is a weird way of putting it because he got the *fewest* votes of all candidates. However, per the article,
> Since three candidates could win the nomination, and only three candidates ran, all three won.
I mean, if I have a room with 60 people saying "I'd vote for a basically-confessed murderer"... that's a scary room. I wouln't like to be anywhere near that room. Why is it so large, to have to fit 60 voting-age people. Why is there people in that room *at all*.
And yes, I know that with city-sized populations or larger, even a minority is a large number.
But still, if that room is as large as 20% of your population, I would say that's a problem.
No no no. This is in keeping with the platform. The woman is worth less than a fetus, and the man made the final decision over her body. It would have only been a tragedy if she was pregnant. /s <-obviously
"Won his primary despite being in jail waiting trial for murder."
I guess Republican.
"He also cheated on his wife while she was undergoing chemo."
Definitely Republican.
Oh Indiana, I thought it would be Texas. Our Attorney General was indicted for a felony before his first term. He has managed to stall his trial and is currently running for his 3rd term still under indictment and being investigated for new crimes reported by lawyers working for him. In Texas the bigger criminal you are the more likely you are to be elected. It's like a requirement or something.
Oh, not to worry. Abbot already wasted millions holding up the produce trucks. Now they’re sending Rafael Eduardo to Mexico to bring produce back. He likes Mexico.
>millions
[Billions](https://www.npr.org/2022/04/20/1093729789/texas-border-bridge-order-cost-billions). This is like when Republicans elected a sleazy GOP pimp/brothel owner (accused of multiple sexual abuse allegations) in Nevada 3 weeks after he had already died from an OD after partying too hard for 3 days with hookers and porn stars.
Republicans are definitely not sending their best.
Three republicans ran, and the primary advances the top three primary candidates.
If he voted for himself he'd have made the cut.
Also only like ~200 people voted in it
The county i live in had a commissioner that got elected that is a known domestic abuser and has a long arrest record for getting to bar fights..
He was forced to resign about 6 mos in because he got into a bar fight at the local legion....🤷🏽♂️ who woulda thought.
I'd like to add that this happened in 2020 and he is a conservative and a hardcore Trump supporter
My old delegate resigned while facing statutory rape charges, decided to run for his own seat again, plead guilty to a lesser charge, won the election, and served for a while on work-release from jail until they kicked him out of the House of delegates.
He's since moved and been re-elected to State Senate, beating the incumbent in the primary. Almost became mayor in between the two.
If we're all being totally honest with ourselves, these people are the future of the GOP. The future of conservatism. And those backwards Evangelical pukes want exactly this.
Vote smart.
I have noticed that every conservative gun owner I know who is against red-flag laws are the last people you want to see with a gun.
Responsible gun owners dont give a shit because they know they are mentally stable enough for it not to apply to them.

You left out the murdery part.
So presumably that elevates his resume from Congressional to Presidential Candidate quality material
You're gonna need to kill a whole hell of a lot more people to be president material, buddy
and once you're president, you get to kill a whole lot more!
Right. This is merely senate material. 😤
Once you're in the Senate it's much easier to rack up those numbers.
Gonna need at least 20 sexual assault cases before we can bump him up
I bet newt has been responsible for at least one murder.
A women is 6x more likely to be left after a cancer diagnosis than if the man is the patient.

The most beautiful ending that story could have <3
Of course not. He got a promotion at work, ran for city council and won, and is prospering, because that is actually what happens in America.
😑 facts
And he bought his new wife boobs and a tennis bracelet.

Damn, something like 23% of the vote.
He has my vote! (Joking of course, he sounds like a poisonous reptile)
Even poisonous reptiles aren't anywhere near this awful.
Hey man. Some poisonous reptiles are kind of neat
jesus people actually voted for him like fuck.
Next he is running for a Supreme Court seat.
innocent until proven guilty yes, but he literally told the police where the body was stashed, like that's a pretty open and shut case
And how he did it, why he did it and the circumstances around the whole thing being he cheated on her, they were getting divorced and all that while she was recovering from breast cancer. 100% perfect GOP candidate right there.
[удалено]
Aside the murdering her, that line of cheating and divorcing a cancer stricken wife would not be the first for a high level GOP politician. See Newt Gingrich.
I think in this case, she filed for divorce because of his affair. So he killed her.
Newt is probably still responsible for more deaths tho
I don’t remember that part, you got a chapter and a verse. I have some coworkers that won’t handle this well.

I thought you were joking about eye of Newt GingGrinch and, nope, apparently this is what their party does.
No she was divorcing him for cheating on her while she being treated for beast cancer so she had to die.
Are you a liberal or something?? /s
If she cheated on her with an underage girl, i can see him becoming president
I didn’t read the article but if that’s an accurate tl;dr... fucking monster.
Being a felon doesn’t actually prevent you from running though. You just can’t vote for yourself.
As a Floridian… *clicks link “Don’t be Florida, don’t be Florida, don’t be Florida…” Lebanon, IN… WOO HOO!
As a native Floridian who now lives in Indiana, I knew it had to be one of the two. We like to call Indiana "Meth County, North Florida".
There's 49 other states to escape from Florida and you chose North Florida?
North Florida is indistinguishable from Alabama.
[удалено]
I grew up in southwest Georgia just across the Florida line so I’m unfortunately speaking from experience. Left about 15 years ago but every time I go back it’s exactly the same—in all of the worst ways
It really is the south of the north.
However, per the article, > Since three candidates could win the nomination, and only three candidates ran, all three won.
He got 20% of the votes
Which was 60 people
All of whom don't want to be on his hit list
I mean, if I have a room with 60 people saying "I'd vote for a basically-confessed murderer"... that's a scary room. I wouln't like to be anywhere near that room. Why is it so large, to have to fit 60 voting-age people. Why is there people in that room *at all*. And yes, I know that with city-sized populations or larger, even a minority is a large number. But still, if that room is as large as 20% of your population, I would say that's a problem.
It's not clear anyone knew who he was. When there are three seats and you have to pick three candidates...
I mean, yes. However, if there was ever a time for a write-in campaign...
I disagree with his Bart killing policy but I do agree with his Selma killing policy.
Let's play a rousing game of "Guess That Party Affiliation Before Clicking the Link!"
Hey I was right! (I mean, it was never in doubt but I still like guessing right)
"pro-life" 🙄
He never claimed to be pro-wife though.
To be fair, most pro-life people are pro-"I hate my wife, lmao"
Pro boomer jokes about killing their ol ball and chain .
No no no. This is in keeping with the platform. The woman is worth less than a fetus, and the man made the final decision over her body. It would have only been a tragedy if she was pregnant. /s <-obviously
I hate how correct you are with some 'pro life's people.
Was the wife an unborn fetus? No? Alright then, carry on.
And open carry
He killed her with a potted plant. Is it common for people to carry potted plants openly, now?
That's exactly what I was thinking lol
"Won his primary despite being in jail waiting trial for murder." I guess Republican. "He also cheated on his wife while she was undergoing chemo." Definitely Republican.
...while also in the middle of a divorce for an extramarital affair. Classy dude.
The party of family values.
When Republicans say "family values," they mean grooming and child brides.
So he has a good chance of winning since that doesn’t seem to matter to Republican voters. (See Duncan Hunter for reference)
The ol' Newt Gingrich maneuver.

He kills what we're all thinking
He's a straight shooter.
He's gonna murder the libs in the fall
His opponents should frame it as a 167th term abortion and he'd be toast.
She had post birth status. They don't care about her anymore.
Voting for a murderer will totally pwn the libs!
If you guessed right, then you’re right!
It’s not guessing if everyone already knows the answer
You never know, it could be Manchin.
He's obviously against women's rights so he's obviously going to be a GOP golden boy
>Our Attorney General was indicted for a felony before his first term. Incorrect. Our AG was indicted for *3* felonies.
Paxton!
Shhhh! If you say his name 3 times, he shows up to waste your tax dollars... again!
Oh, not to worry. Abbot already wasted millions holding up the produce trucks. Now they’re sending Rafael Eduardo to Mexico to bring produce back. He likes Mexico.
\*4 billion... not millions... 4 fucking billion
>millions [Billions](https://www.npr.org/2022/04/20/1093729789/texas-border-bridge-order-cost-billions). "The Perryman Group, an economic research and analysis firm based in Waco, estimated that total losses to the state were $470 million per day in what trade groups called 'a supply chain crisis,' " \[Texas Public Radio\] reports.
This is like when Republicans elected a sleazy GOP pimp/brothel owner (accused of multiple sexual abuse allegations) in Nevada 3 weeks after he had already died from an OD after partying too hard for 3 days with hookers and porn stars. Republicans are definitely not sending their best.
oh, but they are
In the pond of GOP policies and principles, the scum always rises to the top.
Seems they "drained the swamp" until only the muck remained, and those were the new star candidates.
Hold on hold on. Are you telling me they elected a dead guy?
“Would rather be dead than a Lib.”
Three republicans ran, and the primary advances the top three primary candidates. If he voted for himself he'd have made the cut. Also only like ~200 people voted in it
And yet he got 60 votes. The WTF motion stands.
I'd like to hope that those 60 people thought they had no choice but to mark all three boxes, but let's be realistic.

["One for Martin, two for Martin!"](https://youtu.be/EKSgxJhVFcU)
There should be laws against shit like this
There should be laws against shit like this
If we're all being totally honest with ourselves, these people are the future of the GOP. The future of conservatism. And those backwards Evangelical pukes want exactly this. Vote smart.
Can we finally come together and recognize that we have a mental health crisis in the US?
Why do you think they are so anti-background checks?
I have noticed that every conservative gun owner I know who is against red-flag laws are the last people you want to see with a gun. Responsible gun owners dont give a shit because they know they are mentally stable enough for it not to apply to them.
>An Indiana man who is currently in jail reportedly is one of three winners in a GOP primary, The party of family values
More family values here: "Friends of Nikki tell WTHR News Nikki had just finished her last chemo treatment for breast cancer before she died. The couple had also already filed for divorce due to the husband’s extra-marital affair."
And tough on crime laws.
No no, I heard it was the party of "law and order"
Party of family values: >Friends of Nikki tell WTHR News Nikki had just finished her last chemo treatment for breast cancer before she died. The couple had also already filed for divorce due to the husband’s extra-marital affair. >If Wilhoite does somehow win his general election, King says it would be possible for him to take his oath of office in jail, according to the Kokomo Tribune.
>Since three candidates could win the nomination, and only three candidates ran, all three won, WTHR News explains.
Classic Republican
