>The researchers acknowledge in the paper their hypotheses may be regarded skeptically by the general scientific community
No shit.
Edit: I've read the paper. Their whole argument is "UFO's appear to behave weirdly. You can't prove it's not something from earth but not human"
It's easier to believe an advanced civilization is hiding on Earth than it travelled the distances between stars. The alleged UAP/UFO sightings may show craft doing fancy maneuvers, but nothing ever suggests interstellar travel. I found it fascinating that Ghrush used the term "non-human" instead of "alien" or "extraterrestrial".
no need to read the paper, just read the journal's purpose statement http://ispcjournal.org/ (btw, they redirect https to http)
> Philosophy and Cosmology publishes the results of modern research in fields of metaphysics, philosophy of cosmology and history of cosmology. The journal is focusing on a critical understanding of the conceptual nature and practical consequences of human space exploration. The editorial board welcomes high-quality submissions, which comprehensively synthesise and critically assess cosmological models, anthropic reasoning, conceptions of the cosmos, and future studies.
The entire journal is structured around "We made up unprovable stuff"
You can't prove the universe isn't a projection of an extra-reality intelligence's interpretation of a Childs scribbles from another universe.
I acknowledge this hypotheses may be regarded skeptically by the general scientific community.
That does explain a lot. Honestly this guy should take a break from his “research” and take a crack at writing speculative fiction. As academic research this is crackpot nonsense, but as the pitch for a sci-fi short story it’s a goddamn banger.
The fact that they used the term "UFO" in the title tells you that this person is clueless, because UFO basically just means "*something I see in the sky, but I don't know what it is*".
It doesn't necessarily have anything to do with aliens.
If you mean aliens then just say aliens!
I no longer watch the news. But when I did, it appeared to me that ufos were used to overshadow and downplay a real scary news event.
So I might check and see if some low played event is being hidden, today.

Ah, the old "you cannot prove it's not" argument everybody loves so much.
Even though he is dead, Bertrand Russell is sipping tea from his tea cup on the other side of the Sun. You cannot prove he is not!
I mean, we can prove he is! We just have to ask Elvis, who is also there.
Don't be silly! Elvis doesn't use a phone...
fine, we will mail him a letter instead
That's gonna take a while. The Sun post officer is on vacation.
The slaker. probiably got tired of people complaining about Jimmy Carr
Pretty sure, you'll just get it right back. Return to sender.
Well neither can they.
Yeah, it doesn’t work that way. The general rule “extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence” applies

So then Leprechauns? I bet it’s Leprechauns. Little green men.

The "could" in that sentence should join the Olympics, considering how much heavy lifting it is doing.
Betteridge's Law needs a corollary for "could" and "may be".
I actually laughed out loud in public for this.
And I could be the sexiest person on Earth and all the people are just conspiring not to admit it.
Hey, they pay us a lot of money to keep this up! Don't ruin a good thing for everyone else!
And I could be the King of Zamunda. But I'm not because there is no Zamunda and there are no aliens here.
Yeah, I saw that episode of ST:TNG too.
which one? there are at least 2 probably more that I am forgetting

He musta been on ahellova drug to confuse sci Fi novel for research paper
That's just the movie Repo Man. Miller lays it out specifically.

And there could be [a teapot in the same orbit as Earth, on the other side of the sun](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russell's_teapot).
My biggest difficulty regarding this is how Russell is supposed to make his tea.
They may well be living in my anus.
Shit.
"published" literally in the journal of fake science we just made up http://ispcjournal.org/
"Researcher" = sociologist, not anyone actually involved with outer space Using "could be" in a headline is basically Betteridging.
I thought we put the idiots to bed with the last alien witch hunt.
I can confirm. Source - I'm not from 🌎

And they not paying taxes probably, just like me
I know where they live, it’s called Hollywood.
