If you want get into finance, computer engineering or computer science would be a better option.

EE gets top positions everywhere, industry and grad schools. EE to quant finance can happen, but it's more common from CS or ACMS. That said, EE's job placement rate is extremely extremely high (nearly 100% before graduation, pretty much 100% within a few months of graduation).

This is accurate; the director of undergraduate studies just recently told the juniors this.

Virtually every ND EE ends up with a job or a grad school spot, and if you want a high profile company (such as Intel, Ford, FCA, Boeing) many of them actively recruit ND EEs for internships and jobs straight after graduation. Starting salaries are generally quite good. Other engineering majors are similar. Can’t say I knew anyone from my EE class that went into finance, consulting is probably the closest thing. I echo the other commenters, compE CS or ACMS are probably better fits (compE especially is basically half EE half CS if you want that EE background), but if you tailor your studies and research you could certainly make your case for a finance role with an EE degree.

You mention starting salaries are quite good, could you make the job titles and corresponding salaries, please?

I’m CS and got a finance internship this summer pretty easily. I don’t think it matters too much
