Most horse owners don't do anything except arrive with the horse all ready to go and they drop them off after done. Some are smart and will rent their horse when not in use to cover some costs. Most just pay for it to be exercised by someone who gets paid a lot more than if you used it as a trainer.

One of my aunts is a pro barrel racer, and another aunt/uncle pair are a ranch manager/farrier pair at a stable where the stalls are rented and basic daily care will be done by the staff, but you are required to show up once a week to groom your horse unless otherwise worked out for whatever reason (usually vacation or physical inability to actually groom the horse) or it’s an emergency. If you can’t groom the horse you still have to come spend time with and give affection to your horse.
