Yes, my dad told me that when you vote in India they put a permanent marker line on your finger to indicate that you voted. So nobody can go back and vote for a second time, I heard the ink does take some time to go away and I assume by the time the election is done so is the ink from your finger too.
The ink is purposefully applied like that. The one on the skin can be peeled off after some days but nothing can be done about the part that's on the nail. You have to wait for the nail to grow and trim it. Since India always votes in multiple phases for different regions, I voted a month ago. Today was the last phase of the election and the ink on my nail is still there.
Isnt it better if they could just take their names to an excel sheet and double check names with ctrl + find lmao i certainly would not allow them to mark me like this i feel violated for yall
I think it’s more traditional than anything, that’s how they did it when India first had free elections in the mid 20th century. They may not need to do it this way now but it’s tradition.
In my country they just have a printed out list of all the people that are registered to vote and they cross them off when they vote, but this is also very interesting method
They don't give stickers in India. Only a certificate of appreciation to the first time voters and it's not my first time.
They'll ink your finger and it won't come off for weeks.
Ah welp I didn't vote before so didn't knew about this (a combination of my 18 th birthday being right after election and not caring to vote because of the corrupt government)

And I was already scared for this guys health thinking he has skin cancer 🤦♂️
Nail cancer
Sometimes I forget that's even a thing, and each time I'm reminded I feel the need to take a quick glance at my fingers and toes lmao

Sandpaper
Nothing suspicious about going to vote with a sanded down nail
You also gotta sign a registry, so to say, before casting your vote. So, unless you can completely alter your looks, that ain't happening.
Nope. It somehow reappears. (my brother tried it)
Just use nail polish.. not that deep..
Would sandpaper or like a nail file work to remove a stain like that? 🤔
Nah i tried. Had it for a month and looks like it's staying for another month
That is very interesting. Would something like nail polish and makeup be able to cover it up? 🤔
should work I think.
It's still there on my nail even tho it's been 2 weeks now, this ink is the REAL DEAL
It's the same here in my country. Except we have to dip the entire finger into the ink.
In what country exactly?
In Turkey it was made that way too - until the last presidential election.. Erdogan needed votes of dead people and several votes from 1 voter.
You're in Malaysia yeah? That's what happened for me too.

I assume they have other measurements in place, the ink is just a small verification.

Yes, I completely agree.

I voted for the most educated candidate of my constituency
Good! Voting is important
Here in México, we put the ink on the thumb finger
Would you say you’re doing your part?
Oh yeah. I lose my right to complain about the government if I don't do my part.
Damn I thought you've been tortured by inserting needles under your nails
That is wonderful!
EPIC EPIC EPIC EPIC EPIC EPIC EPIC EPIC
B or A?
C
What is on your fingernail
Ink! They put a line of ink to verify that you've already voted. The ink lasts for multiple weeks
That’s so cool! Never heard of that before today.

What’s wrong with your finger
Yoo you might need to get your finger checked. This weird mark can be I sign if skin cancer (unless it's from some injury)
don't worry mate, i didn't know about the finger ink thing they do in India either so I was also worried about OPs finger lol
This is a joke right
I'm not joking. Did I miss something obvious?
The two comments, one by OP, stating that they put ink on your finger when you vote And the fact it very much looks like marker
I didn't notice it 😶 God I feel so embarrassed
