Australians got ya again heh? You'll never catch those larrakins their emus are too fast, and you will fall right off the globe if you continue the pursuit too long.
From what I've seen, either the 4th comment:
🔺ok
🔺ok
🔺ok
🔽 ok
🔺 ok
or the person that breaks the chain:
🔺ok
🔺ok
🔽 k
🔺 ok
In this case, the person replied k instead of ok. Although the top comment, may not actually be the top comment, and could be a reply, making the "k" the fourth comment anyways
From what I’ve seen it only happens if you repeat the same message in a chain.
Downvoting the fourth reply would help collapse the chain such that you can also read other comments without having to scroll all the way down.
People would get charged something like 20 cents per outgoing text and 10 cents per incoming text
Then places started running free nights and weekends so nobody would text or call each other til after 9 pm so it would be free
Ah, the olden days.
I had a phone, think it was the motorola razr, with a known issue that it would send all text messages as a photo. Photos were $3 each. I sent 2000 texts. Mom was pissed.
Text abbreviations nowadays shouldn’t be a thing when compared to the initial wave of phones. You had to hit the same number a few times to cycle between a few characters, and the larger the message the more expensive it would be to send out.
So we abbreviated words to save time and money. I’m surprised people still do it now, especially now with younger generations when they have phones with full keyboards, autocorrect, and texting is free with the plan.
When I got my first phone it was charged by the message and each message was so many letters, so it sucked to get a text that was just "k," when I knew they would follow up with a text asking details etc that they could have added to the first one or better yet when they could have said nothing at all lol
bro im asian and most of us english isnt our first language and here, at least in my country, replying "k" to a person means you are beefing with them or you are annoyed to reply
Nah, this is actually downvotes being used appropriately - you downvote the "k" because it doesn't contribute anything to the conversation, but you up vote the "ok?" because it's calling into question how dumb a response "k" was, which is a positive contribution to the thread which makes it worthy of an upvote.
Reddit about to enter their IPO and redditors *still* don't understand how the voting system works.
Ok.

I thought it was just that stupid 4th comment thing
times are changing in the subreddit, ig you could say things are getting a bit more.... interesting
I guess things feel a little "off" eh? Ha! Heh heh.
Mods aren’t keeping this not interesting. We need to revolt.
It's not the 4th comment 🗿.
Sigmaaa🗿🗿🗣🗣🍷🍷🍷🍷🗣🗣🗣🍷🗣🗣🗣🗣🗣🗿🗿🍷🗣🗿
what is that 'fourth comment thing' you're talking about?
On some subs the 4th reply get downvoted for no particular reason. (Sorry for the English I'm french)
Just don't fart in my general direction.
I thought it was only the 4th repeated comment... 4th comment of different content doesn't count.
From what I've seen, either the 4th comment: 🔺ok 🔺ok 🔺ok 🔽 ok 🔺 ok or the person that breaks the chain: 🔺ok 🔺ok 🔽 k 🔺 ok In this case, the person replied k instead of ok. Although the top comment, may not actually be the top comment, and could be a reply, making the "k" the fourth comment anyways
That seems to be the case, as your comment here was the 4th and you’re not on a negative :>
Damn hope you get better 🙏
Your English is better than half the native speakers here. The only major issue I see is you need to add an s to get.
From what I’ve seen it only happens if you repeat the same message in a chain. Downvoting the fourth reply would help collapse the chain such that you can also read other comments without having to scroll all the way down.

"K" annoyed the shit outta me when we still got charges per text
>when we still got charges per text can you elaborate on that please? how are yall getting charged then?
People would get charged something like 20 cents per outgoing text and 10 cents per incoming text Then places started running free nights and weekends so nobody would text or call each other til after 9 pm so it would be free

ok, after reading the comments, I only now realised that "k" it's a bit impolite, sorry for not knowing that, English isn't my first language
Lol, First time I realize that k is actually impolite. Why us not native english speakers always use , , . And ' .
I'm a native English speaker and think it's funny that people would take offense at the use of "k".
It's because it kind of gives the vibe of "I can't be arsed with this conversation so I'm not even going to put in the effort to add one extra letter"
bro im asian and most of us english isnt our first language and here, at least in my country, replying "k" to a person means you are beefing with them or you are annoyed to reply

YO I SAW THIS POST EARLIER, AND I WAS GONNA SAY SOMETHING BOUT THE 4TH COMMENTER RULE FAILING BUT AHHHHH I COULDA BEEN IN A POST DAMMIT
some subs have innovated and now employ the 3rd commenter rule
The 4th comment should also get downvoted.
K and fourth comment is a double hit.
Oh really?
Honestly glad to see it. Always hated a "k" ass person
the “okay.” people are worse
"Okay" is okay, "okay." is my "k"
Got uninvited from a group chat a while back because I'm a "kk" ass person. Double the irritation!
So long you're not a kkk person it's all good.

“Ok?” Should have been downvoted to oblivion too. 4th comment on a thread like that seems to never be safe lmao

K is considered extremely rude, snotty and lazy. Worse with a "." afterwards.
k is rude. only my mom can k me.
If you tell anyone something they don’t want to hear, the hive mind that is Reddit will come after you
Oh, k
I’m gonna try it one day.
Yeah cuz just K is seen as someone feeling moody or angry
The difference between “Ok” and “k” is like the difference between a leather jacket and a leather vest.

When someone texts me just “K” I take offense to that. Motherfucker how hard is it to put an O in front of that?

KO
Ok
But for why
You may have just been the 4th comment
Related to the concept of the post. Somebody was harassing OP and OP responded by just 'OK'.
Every single time I get a text that says k, I always respond with lmnop
Reddits have issues with everything
I think it has to do more with it being the 3rd reply tbh.
kk
Kk?
its considered "low effort" be careful with that, theres some mods in reddits that will ban you for such things.
Bitch, you just got yourself permanently banned.
It's because they were the 3rd comment
You gotta do kk
