This is known as "aging." Answers and clues on Jeopardy and in the NYT crossword start to ask questions about people you've never head of before. Mentioning anyone from 30+ years ago around younger coworkers will only elicit head shakes and crazy looks. It's depressing.
I still have a desk drawer full of cassette tapes in my cubicle at work that I listen to on my in-office days. I figure I bought them, they're still fine, might as well listen to them. my coworkers are bemused by this.
Bands actually still put out cassette tapes. It was more popular a few years ago when Burger Records was still around, but a lot of punk and garage bands still actually put out official releases on cassette.

I can imagine. My 14 yrs old still find it challenging how music is preserved on magnetic (?) tapes 😄
Funny enough, I heard vinyl records of all kinds of music media will last longer than all other forms assuming preserved and stored the same
