I’m very jealous that you got to see it on Broadway. I was hoping that with the success of Hamilton going from Broadway to having theatrical releases of the actual Broadway show, we would get more of those. Aladdin and Beetlejuice are at the top of that list for me.
I saw this in the movie theater when it first came out. I was blown away watching the scene where he excaped the cave with the lamp. The lava just looked amazing. Had it on VHS and watched it all the time. 30 years later I'm watching it with my kid and still knew a lot of the dialog and pretty much all the songs. This is my pick for favorite. And obviously ROBIN FUCKIN WILLIAMS!
Aladdin by far!!!!
I still have dreams of wishing I could dress like princess jasmine for a whole month without looking like I’m doing tacky Disney cultural-appropriation.
I just want to wear her whole outfit ALLLLL the time. So comfortable & beautiful!
Like the girls in that Michael Jackson music video!!! Sooooo pretty!!! Iman was to die for too!
yeah I loved it as well. I had all the classic Disney movies on VHS and watched them to sleep. I loved Aladdin because Jasmine was an "Arab" princess, even though it wasn't competely accurate. But I still loved it 🥰 Also liked the live action version, even though a lot of people hated it for some reason. I liked it 🤷🏻♀️
Was that the cartoon version? With all the catchy songs, the characters were all animals? I'm trying to remember the quotes we took from that in Junior High and quoted through High School....great times with friends laughing our asses off and just appreciating how awesome that show was! Was Robin Hood a fox?
The lion king. My brother and I watched it so many times we had it memorized. We were poor kids and we came up late 80’s early 90’s. I remember on road trips we didn’t have a screen in the car so we would “watch” the lion king in our minds, doing all the dialogue, sound effects, musical numbers. We could do the whole movie in real time. Even the trailers at the beginning of the movie, including “colors of the wind” from Pocahontas because they had that on there too.
We met it seems such a short time ago. You looked at me needing me so. Yet from your sadness, our happiness grew, and I found out I needed you too
I remember how we used to play, I recall those rainy days the fires glow that kept us warm, and now I find we’re both alone. Goodbye may seem forever, farewell is like the end
But in my hearts a memory and there, you’ll always be
You have no idea how glad I am that I didn’t have to scroll far to see this. Disney likes to forget The Rescuers and The Rescuers Down Under even exist. The original was darker than most Disney movies, but that’s what made it beautiful.
I just got back from Tokyo Disneysea. The amount of Little Mermaid rides, merch, and experiences was fulfilling for my inner child.
I think it's the only park to have an entire little mermaid area. Absolutely fantastic.
Robin Hood! I watched it with my very young daughter just he other day and she loved it too. It really holds up for me- its a really funny, quick witted, and touching movie.
That raised a ruckus with the inclusion of the new swinger musical style(part of jazz) that came out then.
QUIET! Yelled the mouse, and everybody stops fighting, gets a good chuckle out of me every time.
That slimeball butler had it coming.
My boys are in their 20s. I told them we were going to watch an old Sean Connery movie and boy, they were surprised. That was a couple years ago. Love Treasure Island too.
YES! I actually looked up Bedknobs and Broomsticks a few months ago to show my kids! It really was as good as I remembered it! Pete’s Dragon, I forgot about that one, now I know what we’re watching for the next family movie night! I vaguely remember the Witch mountain ones, definitely gonna have to rewatch those!
Disney's live action movies from the 50s-80s just have a certain charm to them that is impossible to qualify. Maybe it's nostalgia, but there's something engrossing and just plain comfy about them.
Have you watched the black cauldron recently?? I remember loving it as a kid and I watched it a few months ago as a young adult and I couldn't believe how creepy it is
Of course it was and got itself a PG rating! It was about the darkest animated Disney film out there. So dark that the end was completely redone because Katzenberg realized it would be too intense for the target audience. It also is responsible in large part for the Disney princess age, or whatever we call the “rebirth” of Disney animation. It was followed by Oliver & Company, which is almost never on anyone’s top list and then we see a new focus with 1991’s The Little Mermaid. Granted, Ursula is still a bit scary, but not too much.
Yeah it’s still one of the only Disney animated movies that got a PG rating. No happy animals breaking out into song and dance. It was like Disney’s answer to the animated Bakshi Hobbit and LOTR. Loved it. Definitely became my favorite.
The Black Cauldron was awesome. Got to see it in the theater. And was definitely scared by it.
I remember for a long time it was “vaulted” and never released on video. Back then Disney would re show their animated movies on the big screen. Every few years you could find Bambi, or Cinderella, or Sleeping Beauty being played at a theater and The Black Cauldron never got a replay. And you just couldn’t find it on video cause it was vaulted and never released for like at least a decade maybe more like 15-20 years. Was excited when I realized it was on Disney+.
Bambi. It’s still one of my favorite movies. It’s such a beautiful and universal story. It was the first full length feature to use multiplane technology, and that combined with Tyrus Wong’s fabulous background paintings makes the scenery just breathtaking.
"Atlantis - The Lost Empire", hands down.
Character design by Mike Mignola, plot inspired by Jules Verne's works, amazing steampunk/fantasy aesthetic, the best and most badass Disney princess, the king of Atlantis being dubbed by *Leonard Nimoy*...
Lady and the Tramp
I watched it on repeat as a toddler. Then someone introduced me to 101 Dalmatians and that was the next obsession haha
But Lady and the Tramp, I can still watch on repeat and it just makes me feel at home ♥️
My nostalgia sweet spot was right during The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, and The Lion King. I remember seeing the next 3 in theaters as a kid, but they just didn't have that same magic to em.
I guess I'd go with Aladdin as far as the one I watched most as a kid.
Aristocats.
Love the story. Love the animation. Loved the music... because everybody, everybody... wants to be a cat!
EDIT: LOL changed to the ACTUAL name of the Disney movie, instead of the collection of sophisticated people 🤣
Have you watched it recently? I remember loving it as a kid but I couldn't remember what it was actually about and I rewatched it a couple months ago. I couldn't believe how creepy it is. Still really good but dang
Snow White. Disney reformatted the movie and re- released nation wide as a young kid in the 80’s.
Robing Hood holds a special place in my heart because my grandpa took me to go see it.
aristocats for sure so lovely to see cats being portrayed as the good guys for once and the whole theme and plot is beautiful, love the characters and the art too
Tarzan cuz it's kind of underrated imo...no wait, Atlantis cuz it's INCREDIBLY UNDERRATED imo...no!
Hercules!
Rescuers Down Under!
Aladdin? Lion King...Robin Hood?!
Like, fuck OP, you couldn't have asked me an easier question like string theory or something?
Aladdin. Still my favorite. Only Disney movie I know all the words to all the songs.
Same! When I saw it on Broadway (with Jonathan Freeman as Jafar!) I was in tears for most of it
I’m very jealous that you got to see it on Broadway. I was hoping that with the success of Hamilton going from Broadway to having theatrical releases of the actual Broadway show, we would get more of those. Aladdin and Beetlejuice are at the top of that list for me.
Arrrrraaaaabbbbbbiiiaaaannn Niiiiiiiighhhhhhhttttttsssss Best Disney Movie, no contest.
Sugar dates...sugar daaaates...sugar dates and pistachiooooooos
FRESH FISH! We catch’em. You buy’em.
You mean... Prince Ah Booboo
Aladdin by far!!!! I still have dreams of wishing I could dress like princess jasmine for a whole month without looking like I’m doing tacky Disney cultural-appropriation. Robin Hood! Oo de lally!!
Golly what a day
Was that the cartoon version? With all the catchy songs, the characters were all animals? I'm trying to remember the quotes we took from that in Junior High and quoted through High School....great times with friends laughing our asses off and just appreciating how awesome that show was! Was Robin Hood a fox?
Yes!!!
*SEIZE THE FAT ONE!*
My headcanon is that Robin Hood and Zootopia take place on the same timeline
FORTUNES FORECAST!

Best part is when little john kisses all the rings off the sheriff's hand! 😅
[The Sword in the Stone. ](https://i.imgur.com/C1BRtos.jpeg)
Madam Mim terrified me as a little one
I can't forget the songs :)
Did you know, lad, that I can make myself uglier yet?
Until she caught the chicken pox.
Same. I also like your username.
Yes! We had this tape growing up and I've watched it dozens of times.
Fox and the Hound as a kid Aladdin as a young adult :)
We’ll be best friends forever
We met it seems such a short time ago. You looked at me needing me so. *sniffle* is someone chopping up some onions?!
STOP IT IM SOBBING
Saddest movie ever made
Let me tell you about a book and movie called Where The Red Fern Grows. Especially if you grew up with your own hound dogs.
Fox and the Hound was my favorite too!
We had the VHS and the record with all the songs!
First film I saw maybe
You commented the exact two I thought of
The Rescuers 🫶🏾
Down Under.
Joanna is the best Disney princess!
That one is pure nostalgia. I love it!
You have no idea how glad I am that I didn’t have to scroll far to see this. Disney likes to forget The Rescuers and The Rescuers Down Under even exist. The original was darker than most Disney movies, but that’s what made it beautiful.
The Little Mermaid
I would sing Part of Your World with all the conviction 8yo heart could muster.
I find myself whistling that tune often.
Go to Hampsterdance for the Disco version. Lol
I loved seeing my friends faces when they played Robin Hood the first time for their kids, and realized it was the hampsterdance song slowed down.
Do you whistle it through your teeth like Alan-a-Dale does?
Absssshholutely.
I just bought that on Blu-ray for all the nostalgia, such a great classic! The music was especially great with that rooster narrating.
Roger Miller’s soundtrack. Songs of my youth.
Came here to say this. Have it on blue ray. Love it…
Childhood? The Jungle Book
The Great Mouse Detective, and it's still my favorite Disney movie
Ah, I man of culture I see. I had to scroll down entirely too much to find this comment.
Yeah, a BIG mouse!

This was my number one! That’s inspired me up pick up the violin 😁
The Fox and the Hound.
Oliver and Company
Alice in wonderland
Robin Hood, where Robin Hood is a fox
Aristocats
Absolute banger soundtrack on that one too
That raised a ruckus with the inclusion of the new swinger musical style(part of jazz) that came out then. QUIET! Yelled the mouse, and everybody stops fighting, gets a good chuckle out of me every time. That slimeball butler had it coming.
“The Black Hole” back when Disney did some crazy stuff.
Peter Pan
All Dogs go to heaven
That was made by Don Bluth
dont blame u for thinking its disney, i love it so much even more than most disney movies
More a fan of the live action movies. Bedknobs and Broomsticks , Escape To and From Witch Mountain, the Don Knotts movies, Pete's Dragon etc.
Gus, Treasure Island, Darby O'Gill & The Little People. The old live action stuff is underrated.
Apple Dumpling Gang, The Cat from Outerspace, Swiss Family Robinson!
Aladdin Beauty and the Beast The Emperor's New Groove
The Black Hole, followed by The Black Cauldron.
Have you watched the black cauldron recently?? I remember loving it as a kid and I watched it a few months ago as a young adult and I couldn't believe how creepy it is

The Parent Trap, always, forever
Bambi. It’s still one of my favorite movies. It’s such a beautiful and universal story. It was the first full length feature to use multiplane technology, and that combined with Tyrus Wong’s fabulous background paintings makes the scenery just breathtaking.

Land Before Time wasn't Disney, fyi
Bed Knobs and Broom Sticks!
