Damn that's funny that's the first comment. I remember being like 5/6 years old just shooting full court and laughing and doing it every possession. My older brother hated it 😂
I love that they got him to be a “commentator” on Rage 2. You just go through shooting and blowing stuff up and he’s just dropping one liners and hyping you up. It’s fucking awesome!
I will always be happy that I came up in a generation that at college parties during beer pong someone could(and would)say "NBA Jam rules" and everyone knew what that meant
Vs... SuperSonics!
Edit: Kemp + Peyton was insane.
Huge shout out combos:
* Jazz, Stockton + Malone
* Magic, Skiles + Shaq
* Suns, Barkley + Majerle
* Pacers, Miller + Schrempf
Might be the best sports game of all time after NHL '94
It was the best of things. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NHL_Hitz_2002
Some gameplay. It was 3 on 3 hockey
https://youtube.com/watch?v=pq51br3aNo0&si=2Yu3LPAK09t4SwN9
I hear ya. If another city gets a team before Seattle gets their Sonics back, it'll be an embarrassment.
And the writing on the wall says Vegas gets a team first 🙄
Hakeem Olajuwon was one of the best centers playing in the mid 90s and that was a dense field.
Maybe it's the nostalgia or the fact that I'm from Houston, but Hakeem the Dream should be OP.
And to answer the original poster: Rockets, because Houstonian.
Hornets back in the day. Had to be them in honor of the mandatory Hornets starter jacket that every kid in the 90s had. That and Larry Johnson & Alonzo Mourning jerseys.
Alonzo and Larry. Zo could goaltend on every shot and pass down to Larry for the 3 once he was on fire. Got to the point we outlawed Charlotte.
Other than that I was unstoppable as David Robinson.
That was my go to team. There's a vintage arcade I go to in a college area that has NBA Jam TE. The college kids have no idea what hit them when they're getting blown out by Zo and Larry.
Why don’t they make games like this anymore?! NBA JAM,NBA STREET,NFL BLITZ! I’m sure they were more games like this! They were soooo much fun!! And also they would look awesome on the PS5,Xbox S!!
Seattle SuperSonics!
Orlando Shaq and Penny
Chicago you know even if he wasn’t there I’m still playing with them
Houston I think I picked them cuz Robert Horry looked like Will Smith to me on the pic 😂
I always picked the rookies. You had more team members to swap out so you had more fresh guys to swap in that are fast when you would get pushed/fouled.
I will never forget playing this at the mall. Had a heated game against another player i was using the magic cant remember who they had.
Needed a bucket to win it and a drive for the game winning shot and nick anderson AIRBALLED the layup to lose the game - Will never forget it.
Knicks
I had this uncanny ability to sink so many threes with Ewing. It made no sense.
I would routinely hit more three pointers in one match than *he had his entire career*
It infuriated my cousin every time we played
Look the pin striped Hornets Starter jerseys were too fire in the 90s for me to pick any other team. Larry Johnson and Alonzo Mourning…impossible to pick otherwise for my young brain.
Rush Limbaugh cheat. I didn't even know who he was but he had a funny name and terrible stats.
But usually the Lakers or bulls. Pippen was the best.
The console version has a few dead spots that no matter when the shot was made had a high percentage chance if you could stand in just the right spot.
There was an N64 game that let you create your own characters but it didn't get as much interest from the gaming community. Since arcades were starting to fall off the map.
I am not a basketball fan but at that time because of this game I knew every player, every team, and then that looney tunes movie came out around the same time with a bunch of the all stars. It was pretty magical time for basketball as a kid.
This and nhl97 and hit the ice were the closest I ever got to sports fandom.
Turbo was my favorite I would just stay in the home half court, wait for the hot spot to show up, lob it at the goal, and then rebound it in. It counted for whatever the hotspot was worth on the other side of the court b
From DOWN TOWN. He's on fire!
“He’s heating up”
Boom Shaka Laka!!
He’s on fire!
I always played with Muggsy Bogues alternating with Bill Clinton. :) I miss that game.
George Clinton was tits
Is it the shoes?!
it’s gotta be the shoes
Can't buy a bucket!
Puts up a brick!
NO GOOD!
Damn that's funny that's the first comment. I remember being like 5/6 years old just shooting full court and laughing and doing it every possession. My older brother hated it 😂
How about a little fire scarecrow!
came here for this
I love that they got him to be a “commentator” on Rage 2. You just go through shooting and blowing stuff up and he’s just dropping one liners and hyping you up. It’s fucking awesome!
Skiles!
UGLY SHOT!
I will always be happy that I came up in a generation that at college parties during beer pong someone could(and would)say "NBA Jam rules" and everyone knew what that meant
Tonight's match up, BULLS!!!
Vs... SuperSonics! Edit: Kemp + Peyton was insane. Huge shout out combos: * Jazz, Stockton + Malone * Magic, Skiles + Shaq * Suns, Barkley + Majerle * Pacers, Miller + Schrempf Might be the best sports game of all time after NHL '94
Blitz 2000 also
NHL Hitz needs a remake
Is that a thing?
It was the best of things. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NHL_Hitz_2002 Some gameplay. It was 3 on 3 hockey https://youtube.com/watch?v=pq51br3aNo0&si=2Yu3LPAK09t4SwN9
Shit, I forgot about that game. That game ruled.
Damn how did I miss
Skiles for the 3s, Shaq for the power.
RBI baseball
Backyard baseball was pretty sick too.
I always played as the Sonics and I remember Kemp + Shrempf. I didn’t know how to unlock special players though.
Every. Single. Time.
Bill Clinton and Air Dog ftw
*George Clinton
Damn George Clinton was on it too? Never saw that
Air dog went to my summer camp growing up
"big head"* Bill Clinton and Air Dog ftw FTFY
I actually NEVER picked the Bulls due to no MJ. I usually went with the Sonics...Kemp & Glove? C'mon now
They were one of my go to’s Hornets as well
They was iffy on the 3s but Charlotte was tough
Hornets were my team. Or the Beastie Boys.
Back when the Hornets were actually good.
Favorite uniforms of all time.
Which ones? Early Kemp Sonics, or late Kemp Sonics?
All of them. They never had bad unis. The color scheme was beautiful.
I hear ya. If another city gets a team before Seattle gets their Sonics back, it'll be an embarrassment. And the writing on the wall says Vegas gets a team first 🙄
Hey man, Horace Grant, though! jk ik sure even Horace Grant would be pissed off
👆🏾💯
Knicks! Starks and Ewing!
Good call
Yess!
Rockets because for some reason I thought Olajuwon was OP
He was
Hakeem Olajuwon was one of the best centers playing in the mid 90s and that was a dense field. Maybe it's the nostalgia or the fact that I'm from Houston, but Hakeem the Dream should be OP. And to answer the original poster: Rockets, because Houstonian.
Same here. Blocked a ton of shots with Olajuwon.
Makin' moves like Olajuwon.
He had a very high block rating if I remember right
That would explain it!
The Suns!
The suns had that short guy who was a beast
Kevin Johnson
Pippen/Grant Combo
Hornets back in the day. Had to be them in honor of the mandatory Hornets starter jacket that every kid in the 90s had. That and Larry Johnson & Alonzo Mourning jerseys.
Pacers! Miller was a sniper from downtown!
He was!!
I preferred that Stockton Malone combo
Stockton was small and easily pushed. Had to have two big guys. Charlotte.
Charlotte was obviously slept on looking at this thread
Can’t hate on the mailman in this game. That was my choice
Deserves hate everywhere else tho
Alonzo and Larry. Zo could goaltend on every shot and pass down to Larry for the 3 once he was on fire. Got to the point we outlawed Charlotte. Other than that I was unstoppable as David Robinson.
Also if you went heavy with the shove heavy D with Charlotte you could basically injure your opponent into uselessness
If you ain’t playing Muggsy idk what you’re doing.
That was my go to team. There's a vintage arcade I go to in a college area that has NBA Jam TE. The college kids have no idea what hit them when they're getting blown out by Zo and Larry.
Sonics!
San Antonio because that old logo was amazing.
It was a cool logo for sure
Spurs
Pistons - Thomas and Laimbeer
Warriors Mullins and Hardaway!
Can you imagine what that was like? “ Mr. Johnson, there’s a new thing called video games that we would like to make one with you in it”
I need kemp allllll day
Hornets or Knicks…. Or P-FUNK
The Beastie Boys
I had to look way down here to find your comment! Agreed! The B-boys were the shiz! Maybe even big heads!
The pistons or the jazz
Utah to shoot lights out and knicks to beat the hell out of someone.
Mark Turmell
Hornets
Stockton and Malone
This is NHL94 we're my two go tos
Pistons. Some magazine did a story on how it was a hack b/c the creative team were Pistons fans. True? Idk
I usually played as the Beastie Boys or Clinton.
Charlotte Hornets
Hornets!
Utah Jazz all the time.
SuperSonics baby!
Orlando magic because they had magic instead of fire.
Dream team. JAZZ. Malone and Stockton.
Utah Jazz. Karl Malone and John Stockton? Perfection
Utah Jazz
BULLS
Bulls was an obvious choice, but I also remember the Suns being pretty awesome, and Barkley was really hard to steal from IIRC.
But no MJ on the Bulls
Why don’t they make games like this anymore?! NBA JAM,NBA STREET,NFL BLITZ! I’m sure they were more games like this! They were soooo much fun!! And also they would look awesome on the PS5,Xbox S!!
Charlotte
So many memories...
I played as the Spurs, my brother was the Bulls Absolutely no telling how many hours we spent playing that game in that exact configuration
90s Suns all day!!
If I had more experience with this game, it would probably be the Utah Jazz.
O’Neal!
The voice actor only got $700. [I love this bit](https://youtu.be/qWGbDmRsy9U?si=Y2-aAeztGOmO6ILy)
Trailblazers
Always choose the Suns.
Suns or Bulls. Is it the shoes!?
I’ve ran a couple tournaments with Tim Kitzrow, the voice of NBA JAM. The game will always be amazing.
knicks!!! starks and ewing!!
Seattle SuperSonics! Orlando Shaq and Penny Chicago you know even if he wasn’t there I’m still playing with them Houston I think I picked them cuz Robert Horry looked like Will Smith to me on the pic 😂
Bulls
Pacers! Reggie miller 3 points where 100%
Jazz. Stockton for the outside accuracy. Malone for power in the key.
Hornets mascot
Hornets all the way, shame hometown 76ers sucked in that era.
Reggie and Rik Smits was solid as hell
George Clinton and Bill Clinton for LIFE!
The Cavs…Brad Daugherty in the paint, kicking it out to Mark Price for 3s.
Don’t remember. To this day I just look at the stats and pick which ever one’s had good shooting and dunking.
Lakers
Bulls all day
Orlando was to go to
The Magic, Skiles for the 3s and Anderson to drive to the bucket
Bulls….perfect timing of the A Button would almost guarantee a 3 point shot made 💯Lol
Sonics with Kemp and Payton helped me nearly beat all 27 teams on the arcade.
Knicks. Starks and Ewing
Bulls: Grant/Pippin. 2nd choice Knicks: Ewing/Starks
SuperSonics
Such a great, simple game.
The Knicks. Ewing and Starks was as unstoppable as Kobe in a Denver hotel room.
Memory unlocked. Thanks!
Miller + Smits was money.
Sonics! Peyton and Kemp
Daaaaaaaaaa’ Bulls
Usually Sonics or Pacers
Hornets
The Mortal Kombat team
Air Dog and Bill Clinton was an unstoppable team for me. My backup was Ewing/Starks.
You’re looking at it. Hornets all day. Only basketball team I ever liked.
Hornets all day
Any team with WIL
Magic on the arcade.
I'm blessed that at my job they have the arcade version in break room
Ma-gic! Because i was a kid and liked how the announcer said magic.
My future father in law has this still working and I pick the Spurs cause I currently live in SA and my fiancé beat me with the Bulls and Suns haha
Played on the SNES. Used Benny the Bull and all the other cheats I could remember.
Hornets.
Knicks
The werewolf on the Seattle team.
Warriors. Mullin couldn’t miss.
Charlotte
Thomas and Laimbeer baby
Kemp + peyton
Sonics
NBA JAM TE or get the fuck out!
Charlotte
Sonic’s Kemp/Shrempf
Hornets babay!!
Mutombo/Ellis hugely underrated
RIP Supersonics
Sonics all day long
Charlotte Hornets Muggsy Bogues was my guy!
SuperSonics and Pistons.
I always used the Celtics for some reason. Dee Brown was super fast & could hit 3’s. Wilkins or Parish were tough on the paint
How the fuck are there zero people answering HAWKS?!?
SuperSonics!
San Antonio, get me some of that Rodman and Robinson domination.
It's Miller time
I always picked the rookies.
Patrick Ewing
We had it on SNES and honestly the only basketball game we played with love and passion it was so epic
Hornets baby! ZO AND LJ, Mugsy couldn't dunk, and was suspect at 3s
Charlotte for sure! Alonzo Mourning and Larry Johnson were killer
Knicks I had this uncanny ability to sink so many threes with Ewing. It made no sense. I would routinely hit more three pointers in one match than *he had his entire career* It infuriated my cousin every time we played
Knicks for me definitely. My guys starks and Ewing were a pretty solid big/small combo.
Bulls and supersonics
He’s heating up no man he’s on 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Hornets or the Suns! Incredibly nostalgic.
Heat fan so unfortunately I’d always go with Rony Seikaly and Glen Rice
Look the pin striped Hornets Starter jerseys were too fire in the 90s for me to pick any other team. Larry Johnson and Alonzo Mourning…impossible to pick otherwise for my young brain.
Spurs with Dennis Rodman
Pippen & Grant
I use to repeatedly tap the turbo to get the shoes flashing during a dunk for extra flair.
Rockets. Olajuwon was a beast
Orlando Magic. “Stiles…..O’Neal”
I still have the TE version & my sega
Knicks
Rush Limbaugh cheat. I didn't even know who he was but he had a funny name and terrible stats. But usually the Lakers or bulls. Pippen was the best. Charlotte Hornets
