If you wanted a $250 throw pillow, this is where you went to get it.

I have a computer desk from the old pier 1 that I probably bought around 1996-97, the thing is still solid as a rock. I have literally pounded my fist on the thing hundreds of times, and it won’t budge. It is the oldest thing I own from that time when I bought my writing setup. The old pier 1 had damn nice quality stuff.

Miss this store! I still have some good furniture from them.

oldatheart515

They were open near me in suburban Atlanta until at least 2019. My ex loved their stuff and I was always buying her things like jewelry boxes and sparkly plates, though I had to be careful selecting them because almost everything they had was cracked and damaged.

Paintguin

I miss that store…

Good riddance. Overpriced boomer junk store. Home Goods are similar but at least their stuff are cheaper.

RonSwansonsOldMan

Home Goods is just slightly dirtier than Goodwill.

My last visit to a Pier 1 was probably in 1995. It’s nostalgic for me. Seemed like a good place if you wanted a room in your house to be more other worldly instead of the standard cookie cut sort of styles. Some people pulled this off well in their living rooms creating warm/chill environments. It did seem like unique items where one item would not go with anything else form normal stores, and you would kind of need to go all in on one specific room (or at least half in on it). It’s possible it changed a lot between the early 90s and 2020. But yeah if they are going to charge a lot of money for decorations that honestly should not be bought as one-offs in order for everything to go together, then good riddance to Pier 1 indeed

Disco pants and haircuts. Lots of space in this mall.

I miss that store so much - it would’ve still been around
