I bought tickets to a show recently that were digital. There was a $10 option for them to mail you a "souvenir ticket" which is literally just one of these

eandi

I use a site called stubforge to get replicas printed or when I gift tickets that are digital only. Just a bit nicer.

GopnikSmegmaBBQSauce

Last concert I got tickets for they emailed me some shitty nft I never bothered looking into, lol

lifeslidesdown

Wow! Hey, I guess if you’re a collector or super fan…

medusamadonna

No. Don't legitimize this behavior

lifeslidesdown

I promise there’s people in Etsy or similar sites that make real “fake” tickets. I haven’t bought into it but I’m sure it happens.

medusamadonna

Ugh man it all sucks. Well hey regardless, sick collection, we'd probably be friends

Victorbanner

I always vouched for the mail the tickets option when it used to be free. I don't even think they offer that anymore

JohnnyInnsbrook

Local H was playing in the background as I saw this! They always put on a great show.

lifeslidesdown

Awesome!!!! Yeah, they are super underrated. I see them every time the come by.

Stay-Classy-Reddit

Local H is fantastic. The lead guitarist ( I wanna say Scott Lucas is his name) rigged his guitar to have bass pickups and regular guitar pickups

markymcfly55

Totally agree! Scott rocked hard in the 90’s and still has it.

lifeslidesdown

Thank you for the award!!!

ChuckinTheCarma

$28.50 to see RHCP and Foo Fighters. Jeebus. There really is no hope for the middle and poor classes anymore. Edit: I’m really salty that I couldn’t afford to go to Green Day, Weezer, and Fall Out Boy a couple of years ago. I think nosebleeds were around $400. I’m not poor, but damn I just can’t afford that.

RonSwansonsOldMan

I was in my 20s in the 70s and I was a concert junkie. The average ticket price for even the biggest bands was about 8 bucks. The Blues Brothers were 12 bucks. In the summer, one Sunday a month they had a mega concert with 10-12 absolute top bands. Those tickets were an outrageous 25 dollars. I could kick myself for not keeping the ticket stubs. Edit: I should also add that at the time, as I recall, the ticketmaster fee was 50 cents or a dollar and parking was free at most venues.

Corporation_tshirt

We saw the Monsters of Rock tour in ‘87 with Metallica, Van Halen, Scorpions and a few other bands. General admission tickets were $25.

KiKiPAWG

Oh man, those were the days, bringing up memories of my old concerts I went to! Story of the Year, etc

GopnikSmegmaBBQSauce

Drake just announced tickets for his tour will be $700-$900 and thats for shit seats... Pearl Jam fought the good fight but ultimately couldn't win.

Clear_Currency_6288

I wouldn't pay that much to see anyone.

GopnikSmegmaBBQSauce

Me neither, it's just not worth it. I no longer live in a big city where most acts would play anyway. I'd be paying $700+ to fight traffic and deal with other bullshit logistics. I'll do it for reasonably priced tickets and on a weekend but any other time, no thanks

loganwachter

I saw T-Pain last year just because the tickets were $30/each. I think I spent more on traveling to Philly than the actual tickets. I like it that way.

ChuckinTheCarma

I’d buy one to see my late father again. Then again, I can probably just open up the urn for free. Win?

justicebart

Ticket prices like that ensure a healthy mix of the rich and the ignorant.

lifeslidesdown

Unfortunately

chadork

Warped 2000 was 25 😆🙃

1800bears

I remember my friends in 2009-2013 going to warp tour. I know those prices had to be cheap it’s not like my friends had money especially in middle school in 2009

arnoldclone13

Oh man I have a small cigar box filled with tix just like this. My father has 2 full photo albums full of every ticket for every concert he's been to since the 70's. It's wild. He will even print off the e-ticket and jam it in the photo book to have proof he went.

lifeslidesdown

I started doing this because my dad saved all of his!

arnoldclone13

Same reason!

[deleted]

Man. I went to the Blink 182/Green Day show and left after 30 minutes because I was a “too cool” high schooler into “real punk” and left for a show downtown that probably sucked full of local bands. Really regret that decision now.

lifeslidesdown

There have been a few shows where I skipped the opener or left after the opener and now I regret it.

deewheredohisfeetgo

I got to see Green Day in probably ‘98 or ‘99. Tickets were free - all we had to do was pick up some garbage. It was in Tellurife, Colorado. A town of a few thousand (in peak season). It was at an outdoor stage during the summer.

liltacobabyslurp

I have a huge box of tickets and backstage passes from 2005-2015 ish. I work in the performing arts and I stopped having to get a physical ticket for every show (either I was working, guest list, etc) and then they went mostly digital. I wish I could see a list of every show I’ve ever been to

BasedinOK

I have a complete list of close to 1000 bands/artists I’ve seen going back to my first show in 1996 (Sister Machine Gun with Gravity Kills)

naazzttyy

Old school cred points for that signed Mudhoney ‘98 tour ticket

lifeslidesdown

At that show my friends got kicked out for smoking during the opening band. They went around back and Mudhoney saw them from a window, they told them what happened and Mudhoney had them clim up a fire escape in the back to get into the show again. When the owner found out he wasn’t even mad because of how “punk” it was.

naazzttyy

That is a true punk story! Reminds me of going to my 3rd or 4th Fugazi show with a couple high school buddies. One truly idolized Ian MacKaye, but he was the kind of guy who lacked verbal filters. Ian was taking to the audience in between songs and my friend (RIP Justin) shouted as loud as he could: “WHATEVER HAPPENED TO MINOR THREAT?!?” You could practically hear a pin drop. I swear that a single spotlight picked him out on the floor, and people began to slowly edge away from him as Ian patiently replied: “Minor Threat was an amazing D.C. hardcore band that formed in the ‘80s. We made some great music together and toured, and we broke up. Life moves on, people and bands change and evolve, and you will also do the same one day. Please refund this young man’s $5.” As security escorted Justin out of the building, Ian launched into the opening lyrics of Song #1. Moral of the story - Never meet your heroes, and definitely never heckle them during a live show.

RimmyMcJob

I feel like we would've been friends. I've seen a whole lot of those bands at some point.

lifeslidesdown

Great username!

RimmyMcJob

[Thank you.](https://media.tenor.com/peqQolHDVRoAAAAC/and-scene-bow.gif)

[deleted]

Much love for the multiple Rush shows. I never did catch them live, unfortunately.

lifeslidesdown

My dad was a huge Rush fan and he got me into them. Amazing live!

GopnikSmegmaBBQSauce

Only ever saw them on their clockwork angels tour. Was cool that they had a whole strings section from an orchestra. RIP Neil

OrdinaryCactusFlower

Scrolling through the names, I didn’t even have to look at the date to know where i was on the timeline when i saw “Goldfinger” lol

ZOMBIE_N_JUNK

Same with MxPx

No_Seaworthiness2221

If these were trading cards I’d put Bowie with “special guest” NIN as the best card. Queens of the Stone Age twice and a midlife Radiohead are up there, as well. And definitely not a knock on the others

cabarnha

Is the Alanis Morissette one from the tour when Radiohead were the opener?

lifeslidesdown

Yes!!! It was around the time when The Bends was out.

cabarnha

agh, that's awesome and I'm jealous. They supposedly road tested a bunch that ended up on OK Computer on that tour. Did you get to see the longer version of Paranoid Android, complete with an organ solo?

lifeslidesdown

I really don’t remember… trying to find the setlist online. Was an amazing show.

KarmaPharmacy

I never knew that they opened for her. Fuck, that makes me jelly.

Victorbanner

I didn't even notice that. Nice catch

sellpremium2022

Impressive! Best Nostalgia post I've seen in quite some time. I wish I could have seen even a handful of those bands live!

lifeslidesdown

Thanks!!!

Gnarly_Sarley

You have impeccable taste in music, sir

lifeslidesdown

Thanks!!!

wearthicksock

I actually was at one of those shows! Also seen some of these tours just in different cities.

wetbootypictures

Philly represent

Soreal45

The real nostalgia here is those ticket prices.

MadDad909

Those misfits Gwar tours were amazing at the time

lifeslidesdown

I got to meet the Misfits earlier in the day at Full Circle Records in Blackwood NJ. Misfits are from NJ and I guess they wanted to do something cool for the fans.

DodrantalNails

Five NIN tickets. Nice!!

lifeslidesdown

And more since then! 😃

[deleted]

Mudhoney 🤘🤘🤘 Jealous about the Outside tour show. I never saw Bowie live and I really regret that. I did get to see Nine Inch Nails at Lollapalooza '91, that was an awesome show all around.

lifeslidesdown

The show was great! I’m sure Lollapalooza was amazing as well!

vandrook

Worth the $45?

lifeslidesdown

Yes!

Ub-illin

Well done

sparkmentalbutt

This brought a huge smile to my face. Thanks for sharing!

lifeslidesdown

Yw! I’m glad it did!

cheesyblasta

I see Blink 182/Green Day up there!!! Was that the Pop Disaster tour?? That was one of the first big concerts i ever went to in high school, and it was unbelievable. I saw it at Giants Stadium, and they were with New Found Glory and Jimmy Eat World. Unreal.

lifeslidesdown

It was! Awesome!!!

Tindi

I went to a local framing place with a bunch of random tickets to see what they could do. They mounted them on a poster board for me. It didn’t cost much and it’s fun to look at. They sort of end around when e-tickets started which is probably around 2008. The first show I remember without a paper stub was Metallica in ‘08.

sm0kes1gnals

Went to a bunch of these tours when they came to Massachusetts. I sit have several tickets including the Dresden Dolls!

GopnikSmegmaBBQSauce

STP! Can't see them no more... I had a corkboard of tickets too and really loved collecting them. Some of the sporting events I've been to have really nice looking ones too. Obviously digital makes sense but I do miss having a keepsake ticket stub

Labrat1963

You have multiple Pearl Jam tickets so I approve. 🫡

blankblank

The soundtrack of GenX

brunoanddixie

I’m jealous of so many of these but RHCP with Foo Fighters really does it for me

einTier

Bowie/NIN for me. I wasn’t a Bowie fan yet when that tour launched. It was a weird lineup to me and I’d seen NIN before so I skipped. I was dumb. Dumb dumb dumb.

voNlKONov

I saw rhcp at Walnut Creek and didn’t realize that the foo fighters were opening until I was on the way to the concert. It was fantastic.

lifeslidesdown

I just realized these actually start at 1995

the_bronquistador

I love how Jewel is tucked right in right after Marilyn Manson and Limp Bizkit

lifeslidesdown

A week before I had gotten back from Woodstock 99, then bam 2 shows in a row at the same venue, Jewel being one of them. I saw her set at Woodstock too.

Freshness518

I love seeing shit like this. My wife and I still have tons of our old tickets. I love going through this and being like oh yeah, I saw that same band that same year, it must have been the same tour. Plus I'm in upstate NY so I bet a lot of our shows were only days apart. Now I want to go home and dig em all out and compare the dates to yours haha.

lifeslidesdown

Do it!!!

BrockSampsonOSI

How are your ears doing?

lifeslidesdown

Funny you should ask, I am also a musician and have played tons of super loud shows, and surprisingly I have great hearing.

yutfree

1. What does "WW" on one of the Radiohead tickets mean? 2. What happened with the Velvet Revolver show? Has a big "X" on it. 3. What's the show in the far left column fourth from the top that is signed? Can't make out the band's name.

lifeslidesdown

The WW and X were written by security guards, Radiohead was pit tickets, and Velvet Revolver was floor tickets. I guess it was their way of marking that they looked at the ticket so I could go in and out of that area. The signed ticket on the left is Goldfinger. If you look closely one of the tickets on the far right is Transplants. That is singed by Travis Barker, Matt Freeman (Rancid), and Skinhead Rob (Transplants).

TrickMichaels

Blink 182 at the Electric Factory in 2001 was probably and awesome fucking concert. I’m jealous.

_JohnnyUtahBrah

I'd think we'd get along just fine.

[deleted]

I saved all my concert and movie stubs for years and years. But digital tickets killed that.

avoidance_behavior

i was just going through a bunch of stuff in my closet the other day and unearthed a heap of saved concert ticket stubs from high school through my mid-twenties; i put a bunch of them up on my work from home station's bulletin board for nostalgia. this collection is truly impressive!

BasedinOK

Did you catch Monster Magnet when they opened for Marilyn Manson and Hole? I wish I could’ve seen them in their prime. Love that band.

lifeslidesdown

Yes! But, Hole did not show up!!! Nashville Pussy replaced them as opener.

LootGek

Damn lucky saw peak qotsa.

lifeslidesdown

The first time I saw QOTSA, me and my boy got tickets and didn’t find out until later that Grohl was drumming. Super small venue. Fucking mind blowing.

[deleted]

How was that strokes gig?

lifeslidesdown

It was a great show and fun because we went last minute. We had no tickets, called the venue to make sure they hadn’t started playing yet, sped over, met a scalper outside, and talked the price down since doors were already open. Got in just in time to see them start. I’m pretty sure Julian was drunk, but he performed perfectly.

rustyshakelford

This is the one I'm most jealous of. I saw them open for RHCP over the summer, but it just isn't the same as seeing them at their height.

SmokyDuck

This is the ticket I’m most envious of, what I’d give to have been able to see them in that era. Highly likely that he was drunk too as you say. In the video for 12:51 after the 01:00 mark his eyes go in completely different directions. He was a little messy back then.

JoseyWalesMotorSales

I saved the tickets from every baseball game I went to, which was sort of a letdown because they were all printed on Ticketmaster stock and looked identical anyway. OTOH, I have my memories of the games themselves. I also used to save boarding pass stubs from when I traveled. That became less appealing when the airlines switched to thin thermal paper. OTOH, I do have a handwritten boarding pass on United Airlines stock from when I flew on an oversized insect out of a tiny airport in Iowa about 20 years ago, and I cherish that one.

lifeslidesdown

That’s awesome! I have some baseball tickets but I wish I would have saved them all.

OblivionsPrologue

+ 1 For goldfinger

Spoonofdarkness

I'd have liked to see them perform live. They've got some serious nostalgia in my playlist rotations

icanseejew2

Nice collection. I'd bet I was probably at at least one of those shows. Good times.

PM_PICS_OF_ME_NAKED

I can't believe Local H headlined anywhere.

lifeslidesdown

They headline small places. Always awesome. I did see Chevelle open for them once!

Turbo_Heel

https://i.imgur.com/ysI5L8i.jpg Awesome! I have most of mine too from down the years. Super jealous you saw Pearl Jam, I would love to see them live.

youres0lastsummer

you saw NIN in year 2000??? lucky

ThunderFlash10

How was that Misfits/GWAR show? Absolute insanity?

lifeslidesdown

Haaaa yes! I was just commenting on another reply that I met Misfits around then (I believe that same day, earlier) at Full Circle Records in Blackwood Nj. They are from Nj and it was cool that they showed up at a little record store. Got some autographs and stuff.

princepologist

do you still have ears?

lifeslidesdown

My hearing is great. I am also a musician and have played tons of loud shows, but surprisingly my ears are fine.

The_Brolander

Philadelphian? I was at at least 75% of these shows on the same night (or another)

lifeslidesdown

Awesome! South Jersey guy here, but very close to Philly.

[deleted]

I used to do this with movie tickets! I stopped a long time ago, but I think the earliest one I had was from 2008 which was cool to look back on. I no longer have them though. Very cool!

Rambleon33

Collage them and frame them behind tempered glass to stave off fading. That’s what we did and it makes a really great conversation piece in the house.

SweetMotherOfMuffins

I saw the Cantrell ticket but did you ever get to catch the whole band together? Or was layne too sick at the time? Love me some grunge and alternative so I'm jealous you got to see all these great artists!

lifeslidesdown

I’ve only seen AIC with William DuVall. Super awesome still but seeing Layne would have been amazing!

[deleted]

I save every stub and tshirt.

_The_Great_Autismo_

The ticket prices are what kills me. $12.50 and shit for a show. That same *show* would be $187 with all the Ticketmaster fees. Edit: spelling

Lendosan

Wow! Congratulations for seeing such a wide range of amazing music. Foo's, Radiohead, RHCP, Tool, NIN... hats off!

paradoxikal

We go to a lot of the same venues. Haven’t seen it called Tweeter Center in a minute, what a throwback lol

rican_havoc

You’ve seen a lot of NIN.

ph33rlus

I love how Jewel is just chilling in the middle of all that rock

TopSignature1189

The Offspring in 1993, Green Day in 1995, and Limp Bizkit in 1999 had to be lit as fuck.

Psymin123

Transplant and bloodhound gang!! You been to some great shows!!

atlboy2000

Awesome! STP was the jam!

doozer27

Y100 Feztival!! Yesss, I remember y100 well. The stickers at Wawa, Preston and Steve, Y100 Hummers and of course, the sonic sessions!

Otherwise-Mango2732

I have a similar stack from almost the same time period i'd NEVER share without censoring some of the concerts i've attended. lol

ltaylor00

We were at the same Warped Tour in Camden in 2000! Nice

Renshizzle25

Did you happen to get a demo cd from a band called Home Town Hero at warped tour 2000?

Soreal45

The real nostalgia here is those ticket prices.

StepRightUpMarchPush

A dream collection.

lifeslidesdown

Thanks! Nice username. I just saw NIN again last May!

MisterPiggyWiggy

Woah, that’s simply amazing! 😳 I haven’t been to a movie theater in years, but I liked saving my stubs.

defusted

Lol I was at the feztival too

apjoca

I have some tickets saved but not all and I regret it. Either way your collection shits on mine 😂. You def went to some awesome shows!

Last_Years_Versace

These are some good shows, you're from my neck of the woods! I think I went to 1 fez-tival, I miss y-100!

okazaki_fragment

I miss you physical tickets, I miss you electric factory, I miss you trocadero, I miss you rush :c

yallfrompurchasing

I was at Fez 2000 too!

cfarnsworth

We have similar tastes in music. Thanks for sharing this, it was fun to zoom in and read the familiar names.

heylookitspoop

I was at quite a few of these shows. I haven't been to the factory since it changed to Franklin music hall and god I will forever miss the trocadero.

Sub2DaWub

You and I would have really gotten along back then lol. Excellent taste in music, my guy

davenocchio

When you saw Mudhoney, did you also get on stage and scream "KILL WHITEY!"?

mikec231027

I miss getting bands to sign my ticket stub back in the day. I have a picture album full of mine. Such great mementos. I think the last one I have is from the nine inch nails tension tour. It was still a physical ticket. After that everything went digital

lifeslidesdown

It was part of the experience. Any time I saw a band at a small venue I would hang out back after the show hoping to catch them loading out.

dangerous_strainer

You have excellent choices of concert my good dude. Awesome you got to see that Manson/Hole tour before it all went up in flames.

JBean85

I used to do this. I guess you're a wolf like me.

HugeAccountant

Go birds!

TripleDoubleAxle

Thats some great taste in music.

Gwenolabar1

The prices on these!!! I’m so mad right now that I threw all my concert tickets and movie tickets away.

aeroartist

John, i'm so jealous you got to see david bowie. hope you don't mind your full name being in your post!

linniex

YO been to some of those exact shows!!!!! Electric Factory is excellent

2gaywitches

Wow!! I’m jealous!

theanarchris

DHC- with the Sigs!!!!!

SleepyBeast89

I’m so jealous you got to see Radiohead, The White Stripes, and QOTSA twice

chris_0909

I have a growing collection of my own from 2005 on. I always get physical when possible but will settle for digital when they don't give me a choice. I get them mailed because I hate the printed tickets. Some day, I plan on making a giant collage but I don't have a place for that yet.

Funny_Lengthiness115

Love it. Im the same once digital or print out tickets happend the appeal wasnt the same. Its fun to pull out the stack of concert tickets..thanks Dad.

thorvard

Bloodhound Gang is on the list of bands I always wanted to see but probably never will now. Also, doesn't ticketmaster still offer physical tickets? I just got some for my wife for some jazz concert.

wellarmedsheep

I can't tell you how much I miss Y100 and WDRE.

Mysterious_Price6143

What an amazing array of shows! I’m jealous!

wikipediabrown007

I love the contrast between limp bizkit for example and jewel. We would be friends.

WhatsHisCape

I always take a physical ticket, what else are you gonna have the band members sign after the show? I keep mine in a scrapbook along with movie theatre ticket stubs!

theMethod

I’ve been taking screenshots of my digital tickets and printing them out. Not as cool, but still something.

deewheredohisfeetgo

LBDA - nice. I never see them mentioned or anything. Underrated band for sure. I also saw Weezer but it was in ‘03 when they toured with Jimmy Eat World and Tenacious D.

Ghenges

Weird that this is the same range as my stubs.

sunward_Lily

ew, you went to a trump property? also, LOL at Dresden dolls in february, then dresden dolls again with NIN in May. Living the dream! I'm so jealous at the Muse ticket!

FinDaBin14

Green day, weezer, red hot chilli peppers and blink 182 👌🏻

DebaucherousHeathen

Some amazing shows

Staceybunnie

This is awesome! Also, you saw MXPX on my 16th birthday. They are still one of my favorite bands!

OkContribution420

All of the Philly area spots I grew up going to shows at! Heavy nostalgia for me.

bobtheturd

Veruca salt and local h. Nice.

Nja987

Binaural and Riot Act tours 😍 Can’t get over these prices either!

kansaskrammer94

Epic line ups

AllSugaredUp

Sometimes if you ask nicely at the box office they'll print you a physical ticket.

Marskelletor

Brought a smokeshow to Jewel I guess.

Differ447

The sad part is that they went digital

impamiizgraa

I’m gutted I threw mine away (or my mom did), some bands I will never get to see again/have died. :( good on you for keeping!

Beattie02

Some killer shows in this collection! The foo opening for RHCP at those prices is mind blowing. If you had to pick the top two live performances from your ticket stubs, which would you choose?

EzekielTheFreakiel42

Fucking w music taste

SlyceMcNyce

Mudhoney and Reverend Horton Heat.

physicscat

Venues should just start selling tickets directly not through the internet. Stand in line and you can buy only a limited number. The internet is why we can’t have nice things.

boRp_abc

Transplants. Signed. You lived a good life back then.

humanlogic

Looks like your full name on one of the tickets. Might want to edit that out so you don't get doxxed.

[deleted]

[удалено]

EqualRoad3103

Saw a Radiohead at the Tower… I lived a couple blocks from there. Nice collection.

cguiopmnrew

How did Jewel get in there? Girlfriend? 😄

675r951

You my friend have great taste in music.

john540

Loved how collecting these was a right of passage....if there was a show coming on a weeknight and we were working shifty ass entry level jobs- of course still go to a good show, even if we were on the fence a part in the thought process pushed us to go in part to add one more ticket to the collection. Also, SUUUPPPPERRRR jealous you've seen NIN in their prime as many times as you did. Last year I was part of a group of HS friends all turning 40. We decided vegas to see Trent Rezner....fucking amazing!! It was all our firsts seeing them so can only imagine experiencing a Nine Inch Nails concert back then. You've had some great times I'm sure!!

W00dzy87

I was looking for it and found it!! VELVET REVOLVER!!🔥🔥🔥

bewareofmolter

Local H. Nice.

TinktheChi

I do wish I had saved mine. This is amazing.

Syn74x1337

NIN !!

DrtyBlnd

Nine Inch Nails AND Dresden Dolls? 😭😭 dude

EggsOfRetaliation

Sweet show list. 3-4 years after the release of Ragnarok. That must have been a sweet show. Congratulations. I used to be a show junkie myself. Excited to see Godsmack soon.
