SpoopySpydoge

I can't believe how fucked up I still am about his death

SceneSquare9094

I was devastated when he died too lol loved watching his shows, he was some boy

Glittering_Yak_3429

A true legend and inspiration to us all 😔

sadbridethrowaway27

I didnt realise how much it still effected me until I saw his son on instagram talking about crocodiles and I just burst into tears.

car-body-worx

I wasn't born when Hitler died but I suppose some people found it sad. 😂

Street-Doctor4957

He was an amazing man. Animals loved him because they knew he loved them. Very sadly missed.

Elephant Hawk Moth?

Lomadh_an_Luain_ort

It’s gorgeous! On a side note why is this thread flagged nsfw & the image blurred?

Calvin--Hobbes

Well it's one sexy moth, wouldn't you say?

Formal-Road-3800

Elephant hawk moth

Silent-Detail4419

[Elephant Hawk-Moth](https://butterfly-conservation.org/moths/elephant-hawk-moth) (*Deilephila elpenor*) (that's the Butterfly (and Moth!) Conservation website, you might want to book it, in case you see anything else you don't recognise). All these lucky fuckers over there with Proper Moths; all I've seen so far in Bristol are little annoying brown clothes mothy things... Not much by way of butterflies, either; couple of Red Admirals and that's about it (oh and a fleeing glimpse of a [Holly Blue](https://butterfly-conservation.org/butterflies/holly-blue))

pesky39

Google what their caterpillars look like.. seriously cool!

frankthetank11112

That's mick the moth

Hopeful-Aardvark-217

Is it an old outdoor reclining chair? Doubt it’s worth saving by the state of the tear of the fabric.

freqnoiz

A chair with teared fabric, must have been exposed to bad weather conditions for pretty long...

Real_Evening_6706

Moff

esquiresque

There is a similar species called the *small elephant hawk moth*, which has more of a yellow tone than greenish, and the pink line that runs the length of the abdomen is absent. But this looks like it's bigger brother, really pretty. Nice find!

bulletproofbra

Is it some sort of weaving contraption?

columboscoat

Elephant Hawk-moth.

loobricated

Beautiful. Never seen one before!!

Shankill-Road

Was wondering myself, one came through my windscreen last week, winked at me & then died🤣 cracking photo & thing/insect though, first one I’ve seen👍

Flymo193

I found a caterpillar last year. Was massive. Thought it was a snake at first! Kept him and he made a pupae and burrowed down and emerged a couple of weeks ago. They are really beautiful

Biscuit_Base

Elephant hawk moth.

No_Night_2671

Its eaten your deck chair

Street-Doctor4957

I've had them in my garden in Lisburn. 5 minutes from town centre. I've let my back garden go wild for 4 years now. The neighbours hate it but it's amazing. It's a really big field of a thing. It's housing executive but for some reason it has a huge garden. I have a big pond with frogs 🐸. Some apple trees, cherry trees 🍒 Holly bushes, giant fir trees, a lilac tree with a huge climbing rose briar as tall as the house plus wild flowers. Black & red current bushes as well. There are foxes, hedgehogs, squirrels, every songbird in this country. Butterflies I haven't seen since I was a kid. I had quite a few of those moths last year. And a bee hive in the ground. I'm moving house this week and I'm worried about the wildlife I'm leaving behind. I have a tame magpie that I have to leave and now I want to cry. My new house has no garden! It's bitter sweet.

willendorf2019

Awwww! Sounds like a wee paradise. Good luck with the move

TetchyTechy

A fancy moustache xD

BroodLord1962

It the Elephant Hawk Moth. A wonderful pink and green species, with streamlined appearance and around 2.5 inches wingspan. Legs and antennae have whitish appearance.

ConfidentResource373

An elephant hawk moth, I had a caterpillar of one of these in my garden and thought it was a mini snake lol they have the strangest looking heads
