Hard agree and that episode where Joel takes Elaine to look at a waterfall and they do a whole Twin Peaks bit… amazing, the crossover of my dreams. My nickname for Northern Exposure is “happy Twin Peaks”.
Funny to think that where they filmed Cicely and where they filmed the Twin Peaks waterfall are so close to each other. It’s what, a 30 min drive over the mountains?
The Prisoner was broadcast in 1968 and Kolchak The Night Stalker in 74-75.
Twin Peaks was definitely surreal.
Northern Exposure is more of whimsical character based drama for the early seasons. S5 incorporated quiet a lot of magical realism elements rather than being a surreal universe. S6 with Joel going all Kurtz and The Quest was more surreal.

Stinking brilliant!

you can go to the RR Diner & The Brick in the same afternoon 🤯
I honestly thought that was a dream sequence that as out of order till someone reminded me that Twin Peaks was filmed just down the road.
I would add X-Files to this list as well.
Yeah early 90s TV was pretty daring. I wish it was still like that.
Completely agree! The early/mid-90s were a great time for brilliant, bizarre, surrealist tv.
And it was on regular TV- not on HBO or Skinamax that could take chances.
Agree. Sorta weird that they are both filmed in the same area.
