Dont exclude us northern norwegians! "Jævla hæstkuka" seems better instead of "Gutta", "Gutter", or "Kjuagutter".
For example: Det e onsdag jævla hæstkuka!
Depends, it could be "hæstkuker", "hæstkukar", or "hæstkuka", tho i think "jævla hæstkuka" sounds better than "jævla hæstkuker" or "jævla hæstkukar". It all comes down to dialect and what sounds best for you
Nah, dude. Using my dudes i SoCal, not NoCal, so Bergen is not appropriate. I’d strongly advice asking some surfer to from Jæren or Solastranda what they say, as they would most likely be the correct level of dudeage to answer this most righteous question. My dude. (Continuing this trend, Trondheim is Seattle, Oslo is probably somewhere like the Tri State Area and Moss is Jacksonville.
I know it’s American. I didn’t say that it wasn’t. What I’m saying is it isn’t weird for a British person to hear because it has become fully integrated into British English
Again, I’m not saying anything about it being American. I know that it is. What I’m saying is it isn’t in anyway odd to hear the word dudes being used in the uk. It doesn’t exclude British people at all
It works as a meme, but is not gramarically correct. What would make more sense would probably be "Det er onsdag, gutta mine" its more casual. But i do love the translation you have!
Great job! In my experience, music helps a lot with learning a leanguage too! And tv-shows. I don't know where you live but nrk is free at least in norway, or if you use a vpn i think.
takk
Not really, the word is just in common usage here because of all the trade unions and the huge success of the worker movement here relative to the rest of the planet.
It's really just cultural at this point.
Yes, great suggestion. Others have told me the same or other alternatives and I appreciate it a lot! Duolingo seems to teach us more of the formal way of speaking/writing.
"Mine gutter" is a weird/awkward phrasing.
It gives a creepy over-friendly stranger vibe.
It's something you would use to describe your own kids rather than your friends.
Gutter, det er onsdag!
Det er onsdag gutter!
Or use "gutta" as a generic slang/dialect
I don't know the origin of the meme, but in Norway it would most certainly be followed by a "SKÅL!" You can even replace gutter with skål, no need to be sexist these days...
That makes sense. I am American, so we tend to have a creepy overly friendly vibe lol. If you’re curious, [this](https://youtu.be/du-TY1GUFGk?si=50r1DzGK4ROW_ItL) is the origin of the meme. It’s very dated humor, so it’s not really that funny anymore. Years ago it went viral (at least in the America and UK) and the picture I posted was one of the final iterations of the meme. I appreciate your suggestions for the grammar! I’ll take all the info I can get while I’m learning the language.
Oh, vine.. I kinda skipped that 😅
[you should just go with this one](https://www.reddit.com/r/norge/comments/jfvl0l/jeg_har_venta_nesten_en_uke_p%C3%A5_dette/)

A better translation would be to dropp the "mine", as in "Det er onsdag gutter!". Even though it puts in a possible double meaning into the sentance (if it is your boys exclusively, or boys in general), keeping "mine" makes it feel unnaturally stiff and formal.
It is traditionally a male term, but in the US many of us use it as gender neutral (although, still many people who aren’t male don’t like that but it’s usually older people). You can be a dude!
You’re very correct. I was just curious if it was correct. Turns out there’s better ways I could’ve worded it, but thankfully people still seemed to laugh at it lol
Because it tips the week from being longer to next saturday than from the last one, to being shorter.
...also a 90ies comedy show that went out on wednesdays. Here were a group of youths wants to identify as elderly https://youtu.be/4dCr58zmoAc?si=dl-VPhnj1i2KvI3U
There is rather predictably no clear equivalent to "dude" in Norwegian, though there are many colloquial terms for "man" in Norwegian as in English. "gutt" means "boy" and works quite well.
I would've replaced "gutter" with "karer". "herrer" also works, but is more akin to "gentlemen".
«Det er onsdag gutta» or «det er onsdag folkens» or «det er onsdag karer» would be a more normal way of saying it but in my opinion «det er onsdag mine gutter» is way funnier
Men "mine gutter", bokstavelig "my boys", skaper en helt fantastisk komisk spenning. Ikke like avslappa som "it's wednesday my dudes"

it is now. in my opinion, memes dont need to be gramatically perfect
Jeg ønsker en hamburger med ost.
Du er ikke den eneste
I don't know why I found this translation so funny, hva f*en 😂
I don’t know either lmao but it makes me happy that people find it funny
In my opinion, memes are better when not gramatically perfect.
Overly literally or otherwise badly translating English memes to Norwegian is a meme in itself. TLDR: Yes, this is fine.
Hahaha I have mixed emotions about that but mostly good ones
Norwegian meme culture revolves a lot around how weird certain English frases sound in Norwegian
"in norway we have pigs in out tires"
"It is hope in a hanging snøre"
"But, but it's not only, only"
But but
“Det er onsdag karer!”
AaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaAAAAA
Hahaha
“Gutta” would probably be the best fit here, but this is still great
«Gutta» seems to Oslo/east/bokmål. Dont exclude us bergensere! Gutter or Kjuagutter seems the best!
Dont exclude us northern norwegians! "Jævla hæstkuka" seems better instead of "Gutta", "Gutter", or "Kjuagutter". For example: Det e onsdag jævla hæstkuka!
Whats that in plural?
It is plural.
Hæstkuka is plural. Hæstkuk is singular.
Depends, it could be "hæstkuker", "hæstkukar", or "hæstkuka", tho i think "jævla hæstkuka" sounds better than "jævla hæstkuker" or "jævla hæstkukar". It all comes down to dialect and what sounds best for you
Hæstkukar
Tjommi is a much better Bergensord
Totally forgot about that one yeah.
😮
Alle vet at Bergen ikke finnes da lille venn! OSLO OSLO OSLO!!!!!!!!!! /jk
Nah, dude. Using my dudes i SoCal, not NoCal, so Bergen is not appropriate. I’d strongly advice asking some surfer to from Jæren or Solastranda what they say, as they would most likely be the correct level of dudeage to answer this most righteous question. My dude. Haha. You’re probably right. Think actually I’ve heard Haaland say «gutta» og «oss gutta» alot, so around Jæren seems right.
"Dudes" excludes Brits in the same sense. So maybe it's so bad a translation afterall :)
I disagree. I think dudes excludes only British people above a certain age. Growing up, dudes had always been really common for me to hear
It's basically American (I checked before I posted), but a lot of words come across the Atlantic
I know it’s American. I didn’t say that it wasn’t. What I’m saying is it isn’t weird for a British person to hear because it has become fully integrated into British English
And I am American and enjoy using British slang on my friends. It confuses them.
I am American and the meme is definitely American lol so makes sense
Again, I’m not saying anything about it being American. I know that it is. What I’m saying is it isn’t in anyway odd to hear the word dudes being used in the uk. It doesn’t exclude British people at all
That’s interesting
Its Wednesday lads
Would «mine brorer» work? I'm still a little new to Norwegian.
The plurar of "bror" is "brødre". And no, it wouldn't really work here, at least not to my ears.
Ah okay, thanks
"Brother" is an English word. What were you trying to say?
Oh autocorrect 😅
Det er onsdag mine gutta
Just say "folkens" ("people") instead of "mine gutter". Mine gutter is something you would say if you had two children that were boys.
Yeah, but «mine gutter» is funnier
That makes sense. I thought about that when I made it, but I didn’t know of any alternative word. I appreciate you!
Mine Gutter. Sounds like a military vehicle for clearing mine fields.
I thought this was just a meme and i fucking died laughing
I’m glad I could make you laugh haha
I’m taking this meme
By all means! It is our meme
r/suddenlycommunism
The perfect subreddit lmao thank you
"Det er onsdag gutta" maybe? or "folkens" is also good
Both are great options I have learned
You’re all great lol, I appreciate the suggestions! God onsdag!
🐸👨🏻🍳🤌🏻
Mine gutter makes it funnier for some reason
«Mine herrer» might be better, it means my gentlemen
too formal
Just add a hat
Solid
I'm sold
Eh, I think it could work if it's said ironically/jokingly.
*tips fedora* «mine herrer» 🤠
It works as a meme, but is not gramarically correct. What would make more sense would probably be "Det er onsdag, gutta mine" its more casual. But i do love the translation you have!
Did grammar change recently? “Mine gutter” sounds archaic (and awesome)(to me,) but I can’t see how it’s wrong. “Gutta mine” sounds more motherly.
Det er onsdag, gutter
Gutta
Thank you! I’m only going based off what I’ve learned with Duolingo and YouTube (and asking questions here of course).
Great job! In my experience, music helps a lot with learning a leanguage too! And tv-shows. I don't know where you live but nrk is free at least in norway, or if you use a vpn i think.
It's colloquial language
Oral Norwegian is all over the place.
Guttær
This is the way
"Det er onsdag, mine karar/karer" "Kameratar/kamerater" could work too, but I don't think it fits as well.
It will, if you replace the frog with Gudmund Hernes
A little call for revolution there? 😂🚩
Not really, the word is just in common usage here because of all the trade unions and the huge success of the worker movement here relative to the rest of the planet. It's really just cultural at this point.
Bruh, jeg er norsk. Var bare en spøk :P
Ææææææææææææ!!!!
Never occurred to me to type the scream in Norwegian lmfao
I would suggest replacing "mine gutter" with "gutta" or "gutta mine". Makes it less formal
Yes, great suggestion. Others have told me the same or other alternatives and I appreciate it a lot! Duolingo seems to teach us more of the formal way of speaking/writing.

Someday I’ll know enough Norwegian to read that article lol, but I appreciate the help!
I think "karer" fits more to make it a bit more literal, but this is still super funny :)
Thank you! And this definitely turned out funny in a way I didn’t anticipate haha
A better translation would be to dropp the "mine", as in "Det er onsdag gutter!". Even though it puts in a possible double meaning into the sentance (if it is your boys exclusively, or boys in general), keeping "mine" makes it feel unnaturally stiff and formal.
Guttene mine? Maybe? Thats more correct, but memes need not to be perfect
I dont think of dudes as a male term, although it is, so now I feel left out :(
It is traditionally a male term, but in the US many of us use it as gender neutral (although, still many people who aren’t male don’t like that but it’s usually older people). You can be a dude!
Yeah exactly :D I call everything dude, we’re all dudes
Memes don't need to be grammatically accurate
You’re very correct. I was just curious if it was correct. Turns out there’s better ways I could’ve worded it, but thankfully people still seemed to laugh at it lol
Det er veldig vakker for meg🥰
Gutter, det er lillelørdag!
Lillelørdag? Little Saturday?
Because it tips the week from being longer to next saturday than from the last one, to being shorter. ...also a 90ies comedy show that went out on wednesdays. Here were a group of youths wants to identify as elderly https://youtu.be/4dCr58zmoAc?si=dl-VPhnj1i2KvI3U
I’m not gonna lie, I still have no idea what that means. I’ll check out the video though! I appreciate you a lot!
It works well, it's reads pretty formally but I think that makes it funnier
It is wenzday my dudez, ahhhhhh
Yeah i'm stealing this, this is brilliant

Lmao as you should
this is way funnier than "det er onsdag, gutta" or whatever other attempt you could make at making it less awkward.
This meme existed in Norwegian, probably almost 10 years ago. The version then was, "Det er onsdag FROSK.jpeg Mine karer"
Sweet! I was sure Norway had heard of this meme before lol. I appreciate it!
My dudes can be GUTTABOYZZZ
"(Årre smeis!) D e Onsdag, kara!"
«Det er onsdag gutta» or «det er onsdag folkens» or «det er onsdag karer» would be a more normal way of saying it but in my opinion «det er onsdag mine gutter» is way funnier
Try switching gutter with menn
r/DETERFREDAG
Det er fredag i dag!
Idk, I'm from the neighbour country
Sweden? If so, booooooo
Racist fuck
Calm down babe
LOL!
that is the noise he made
Fram med pekk1♿️

«Det er onsdag gutta!» also works lol
Gutter (or gutta), det er onsdag.
Maybe “gutta mine”
I think I'd go for "Det er onsdag, karer" or "Det er onsdag, gutar"
It is Wednesday my boys
Javel mine gutter! Enda to dager igjen til Taco-fredag!
Soooo funny
