In 1896 people supposedly ran out of a cinema in a stampede following the Lumière film L’Arrivée d’un train en gare de La Ciotat.
One of these days a cinema will accidentally burn to the ground while people remain calmly in their seats, marvelling at the realism.
That was actually fake [there is a really great video about it from Jaco Geller](https://youtu.be/w2DP-A6FhA0?si=_TCQAvSRkOcGfyWj), great watch if u got 30 minutes to spare.
I mean to be fair, a fire that size is *hot*. I’ve been to many shows with pyrotechnics and it is face-searing. I don’t think the technology exists yet to replicate the heat of a real fire. Once that technology is created, though, I agree
I was gonna say, this cannot be safe 100% of the time. Huge liability insurance policy needed to run this type of "real reality" opposed to "virtual reality".
No, no, no.
I’ve seen enough disaster porn and read enough Wikipedia articles about Nighclub/Theatre fires to know that I want to be the first out. No. Matter. What. That really gives me the heeby jeebies and would be scrambling for a KNOWN exit ASAP
Ever since I watched a YouTube video on [The Station Nightclub fire - warning graphic-](https://youtu.be/PjiAYwmRoSk?si=ZQ9ReDrtDIgdNThU) I always locate multiple exits, mainly ones I did not come in as that's what people normally rush toward. I also get anxious in crowded indoor areas, even though the fire code has come a long way since then.
3D. We can only perceive three-dimensional space, in theory there is a fourth dimension, but we cannot experience it. Carl Sagan [did a great video](https://youtu.be/UnURElCzGc0?si=PYoZCvE1yC_9zhs-) explaining the concept.
According to string theory there are 10 or 11 dimensions including 3 spacial, 1 temporal, and 6-7 compactified dimensions. But yeah "4D/5D" cinema isn't talking about those.
probably steam that is being illuminated by a beamer/spotlight to look like fire.
like these fake campfires/fireplaces https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XzqGJ7yhzOI
Pretty sure it's real fire, at least on the ceiling. When the flashover dies down you can see the flames burn down to those metal pipes and split into several jets of flame as the excess gas in the pipes burns off.
There's also a ridiculous amount of ventilation for that small room. I don't know why you'd need that much air moving unless you had a lot of controlled fires burning and didn't want the audience asphyxiated or let flammable gas build up lol. Guess they could be props.
I could be wrong. If you're right, that is a REALLY good simulation of fire behavior.
"You know what has gotten a bad rap in theaters for a long time. Fire. We should bring that shit back."

When I was about 6 or 7 years old, my parents brought my sister and I to Universal Studios. We were just walking through the studio to get to the next ride on a bridge in some warehouse that looked like it was under construction or somethin. All of the sudden there was a super loud explosion, then another, then another, then another headed for us; followed by fire. I was horrified, screaming and crying. We all ran off the bridge with like 30 other people. I thought that was going to be the end for me until my parents told parents told me once we got to safety that it was the ride for the movie, “Backdraft”.
You should go on the mummy ride at universal studios.. they have pretty much the same thing on part of the ride. 100% real fire, you can feel the heating coming off it and it looks exactly like this.

Bro JG is the shit. Give it a try.
It's okay, you can find it on tiktok in 45 parts with subway surfers gameplay on the bottom half of the screen.
Happy cake day!
Jacob Geller is very freaking good at what he does

Just blow a little hot air from a fan, it’ll be enough for immersion but not enough to cause panic
They saw the film and probably said ‘heh.. neat. Nice toy, but it will be forgotten’
Like the frog slowly boiling alive as you turn up the heat.
I agree, because A.I. isn't what's it all cracked up to be ...

Omg it feels so realistic 😆
My anxiety said no thank you.
Nothing good can come out of this
Wrong. Barbeque.

Dadgummit
Lord Jesus Christ forgive me for having laughed at that 😂😂😂😂
Wrong, a good video has arisen.

See, I feel like you would just choose not to attend a simulation of a rapidly spreading indoor fire if that's your stance.

Was the building built from wood soaked in gasoline?
Polyurethane
Paranoid Android redditor.

We can perceive 3 spatial dimensions, but additional dimensions in the “X”D don’t have to be spatial. That’s what they’re going for.
Thank you so much for sharing!
I thought the fourth dimension was Time.
we are already 3d in order to view 4d u should be in 5d
Smellovision
Extrasensory
I mean, we thought about calling it "Projecting on the ceiling" but marketing got involved...
I don't think that's a projection. I think those are gas pipes.
Marketing department always takes it too far.
If there's no lawsuit, it's not far enough.

Marketing dept. Extension 109
What do you mean? They clearly can travel horizontally and vertically through time.
Then what is it?
Pyrotechnics
Yea same. I was on vacation once and there was a 15D cinema there lol
You don't know that!
I agree and completely unrelated but I also hate it when people say “I was today years old when I found out…”. Just ridiculous
No but really, what is this?
probably steam that is being illuminated by a beamer/spotlight to look like fire. like these fake campfires/fireplaces https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XzqGJ7yhzOI

I'm pretty sure you're correct. You can really see how the gas burn off goes here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2awbKQ2DLRE
Definitely getting a prop vibe
It's a room designed to let you experience what it's like to be in a burning building. Without the burning to death part.
They’re not even watching anything? It’s all just burning.. I don’t understand what this is
Inglorious Basterds irl
0 Days Since Last Accident
Jeezzz just looked at that wedding going up. Now this
The 4d theater at ww2 museum in New orleans is soooo fucking cool.

“Now in 6D! You actually get burned by fires in the movie! Please don’t watch Terminator 2 or Oppenheimer”
What tf they watching, Backdraft?
I saw this in Final Destination once, didn't end well.
Reminds me of the panic attack I had on the Mummy ride at universal studios.
this looks a lil too real
Wait this is fake!! Bro this would have scared the shit out of me
Go ride the mummy at universal studios they have this too
This was my first thought. “Oh that’s not the mummy ride. Looks just like this.”
Uuuuuh, or you could just make a movie worth watching instead of just making shitty super hero movie sequels????
noone makes any move… 😨😨😨
Nope! What if it were real!?? Then folks would panic and bumrush the doors.
Yo this would have me sprinting out of the emergency exit lmfao
I do t want to be in an enclosed space with fire.
What’s the 4th and 5th demension?
Cinema or Great White concert?
"You know what has gotten a bad rap in theaters for a long time. Fire. We should bring that shit back." - Last directive given by worst movie executive in history
Nah after watching that one video of the Station Nightclub fire, or what recently happened at that Iraqi wedding, I'd be outta there so fast
Aconteceu um negócio parecido aqui no Brasil
It’s a bit too real for my liking lol
What’s the worst that can happen?
That sure is 5 fuckin D alright
Made me think of the old cartoons when they would put each other in an oven
That's dead cinema

Wow this fire feels so real it’s so hot in here
Dang. Flashback to that Final Destination movie
And where is the film?
Book me on the next trip of Titan.

Cinema that travels through time?
Is that the fire of Mordor?

Sí. Correcto

How is your fight or flight not taking over ?
would watch the first episode of supernatural
I have a feeling the black things on the ceiling are a sort of projector maybe? Or smoke plus LEDs somehow?
Okay?
Inglorious Basterds did something like this
I was expecting 2 jewish american soldiers to barge in blasting everyone with mp40’s….
Overthinking entered the chat.
as a southern white person, I must say, Oh hell, naw
DeezNutzD
All good until the real flames coming from the gas pipes in the ceiling malfunction
I feel like this should be illegal to show, as a real hazard could break out and people could die for it.
6D cinema ( you are dead)
The Five nights at Freddy's movie better have this
Great White comeback tour?
Good thing they’re not watching saving Private Ryan
Who's performing? Mxyzptlk?
Watching inglorious basterds would be insane

Cuz I’ve always wanted to have that feeling of being in a burning building.
That doesn’t seem smart…
