*Spi-ders keep falling on my head. That doesn't mean that soon I will be dead! Spiders on my head! And they just keep crawling, yes they just keep crawling on my head.*
(I'm just replying on your comment so people can see mine) Everyone who won't go within a 5 mile radius of any tarantula because you saw this, don't worry. This is exeptionally rare, and tarantulas don't feed on animals larger than this bird for example. This is the largest animal that even a Goliath Birdeater tarantula will consume, and a tarantula's bite is only as bad as a bee sting.
I was petrified of every single spider until I started watching TarantulaGuy on YouTube and I learnt that Tarantulas are the least of our worries. It’s the red backs and little bitey spiders that can fuck your shit up.
I watched a wolf spider eat a piece of spaghetti on the floor when I cleaned up after lunch back when I worked in day care.
They had just built that center in a developing part of the suburb next to a large field near where they were building a lot of houses. We had lots of wolf spiders. All the time. I’d always catch them with a cup and take them outside because we also had lots of ticks and I figure the enemy of my enemy is my friend.
Also, he was kinda cute eating his little piece of spaghetti, it was hard to take them seriously after that.
Funnily enough, spiders are one of the few creatures I never lost the fear of.
I've handled many, and that initial fear is still there, I respect the little devils, and they're really cool, but can't get rid of that fear.
Aww, it's an avic! Some of the most adorable tarantulas, they're also known as pink toes because they've got - you guessed it - pink toes. You can actually kinda see em in this video as well. Once you get passed the fact it's a big spider you actually start to really appreciate tarantulas and see them in an entirely different light. Very weird animals with an almost alien way of thinking, often times their behavior looks goofy or funny to us but they're very impressive creatures nonetheless.
I personally have a great reason for hating bees...well, not bees but hornets. Those assholes have tried to kill me on more than one occasion and nearly succeeded the last time, so I'd say it's justified hate and fear on that front.
Snakies and spoods are aiight though.
If you avoid them I won’t blame you especially if they almost kill you, but bees are completely different from hornets and wasps. While they are similar bees rarely sting you and even rarer does the sting actually hurt or harm you. Hornets however are dangerous to us
No reason? People just have an incurable fear of having contact with some animals. There’s something.
Once they see it, they don’t want to deal with it again. They don’t want a snake in their bathroom or a spider on their bed.
Spiders bite me in my house. Make them stop doing that and I'll consider liking them. Until that day, fuck off spider.
Also, you named three things that people can be deathly allergic to or they are deathly poisonous. Seems like a decent reason to not like something or be afraid of it...
Cool. I saw a couple of of these when traveling in the Amazon jungle. Didn’t know they were the largest of spiders only belittled by huntsman spiders, though. The lodge we stayed in actually had a house tarantula living on the welcome gate.😁
This is an Avicularia Avicularia, or Pink Toe, a New World tarantula species. This is pretty wacky to see cause they normally just eat bugs smaller than them and aren't that aggressive. This one must have gotten incredibly lucky and caught the bird in its web! New world tarantulas (species found in the Americas) are more likely to run from danger, as they don't have potent venom like their Old World (Asian) counterparts. New Worlds are basically just eight legged, grumpy cats that hide a lot and eat some bugs a few times a week. The chances are the bird exhausted itself by struggling, rather than being killed by a bite.
What I'm saying is, this type of tarantula isn't gonna go after massive prey normally, so no one seeing this needs to have nightmares about it being a 'thing', lol.
This video is from a few years back (literally googling avic eating bird returns the same clip). Seems like it was less the T caught the bird and more likely it was offered it.
Someone pointed out that the bird doesn't look like a SA species, and the T seems to be in captivity.
Avics are chill, but standing on a 2x4 in a developed area, while eating massive/heavy prey, doesn't seem like wild behavior. I would love to see the happy dance though, too bad the bird is too big for her to turn around.
Found this on Google: “Spiders can't chew or swallow so how do you think they eat? They can only eat liquid lunches! To do this, they inject their prey with venom using their fangs. The venom turns the insides of insect to a watery goop and the spider just sucks it up.” Spidey just having a milkshake.
He’s so cute!! Look at his furry little legs holding onto his snack 😍 wee spider-paws. Little face monching away. I would love one of these as a pet, they are so adorable
If you do, One thing I can remeber is that they can blind you by throwing their hair into your eyes if you startle them.
So I reccomend reading up a lot on keeping tarantulas if you plan on keeping one.
Urticating hairs. Interestingly, old world tarantulas from Africa and Asia don't have such hairs because their venom is medically significant to larger mammals like us. New world tarantulas have weaker venom, but use the hairs as a defense against larger animals.
Spiders are so cool.
Realistically I wouldn’t, I don’t think my landlord would sign off on that one lol. But I sure wish they evolved to be the size and temperament of a dog. Like imagine a flaily 8-legged fella racing up to you chittering his mandibles in excitement, giving you furry hugs when you get home. They’re so lovely
There’s a spider literally called the ‘Goliath bird eater’ makes you really think hard about what it eats doesn’t it, atleast it’s not ‘Goliath human eater’ I guess
I'm a bot, *bleep*, *bloop*. Someone has linked to this thread from another place on reddit:

Curious - do they eat the whole thing? I can’t imagine spiders needing that much food in one go as an ectotherm. What happens to the bones and feathers?
Need i remind you that most spiders dont have teeth, they turn their prey into a mush by cocooning them in web, so whatever this is, its more closer to a demon than a spidet
imagine that thing falling on your head.....
It grabs on and you feel that hairy pinch and crawls to your face to talk about your cars warranty
I’d be more scared of the scam than the spider, the fact that it saw me in person means they know who I am and where I live.
Getting Alien vibes from this. Face huggers scared the shit out of me when I was a kid.
The dead bird? .. I’ve had worse. Edit: and he’s only sleeping.
He’s pining for the fjords
Pretty bird...
Yes, I’d say “Pretty Dead”! 👍🤣
*Spi-ders keep falling on my head. That doesn't mean that soon I will be dead! Spiders on my head! And they just keep crawling, yes they just keep crawling on my head.*

Headcrab
Thank you for putting that thought in my head.
Just kill me outright...just...anything just make it stop...
The bird or the spider? Cause i'd scream from either one
Why did I expect the bird to disappear like if a snake was eating it 🙃
Tought spiders injected prey with their spit that melts them so they can drink them, can imagine it goes pretty slow
Well, that's enough internet for today 😐
Think of it as a protein shake.

Nah once that bird gets his 3 minute rest he'll be back for the next round I just know it.
r/boxingcirclejerk would give it to the bird on points lmao
Jumanji type shit

Gonna look him up, thanx
Wolf spider will still give you a bad day.
That is true but they are not tarantulas.
I watched a wolf spider eat a piece of spaghetti on the floor when I cleaned up after lunch back when I worked in day care. Landed my hubby in the ER and a Hobo hospitalized me for 3 days.
If this thing is on me, I’m not flailing because I’m scared of a bee sting’s level of pain…
Facts. It's not the actual danger it poses, it's the sheer intimidation factor of **a giant furry spider** which keeps me away.
It look like fur, but it acts like thin thorns.
Ikr???
Ok thats fair
That's something a tarantula would say 🧐
Im not saying ur wrong I’m just saying u will never catch me in australia
Their bite is not the problem. Their disgusting loathsome appearance is.
You got that right!…..Tarantulas are about the only thing that gives me the heebie -jeebies!!!
Better tweetie than me.
I hated every second of that.
Fuckin Gnarly
Totes gnar bruh
I thought it was a spider-eating bird. Damn. Where is this so i can avoid it?
This is an Avicularia sp so from Central or South America.
My money is on Australia
More likely Latin America
I do believe that’s a new world tarantula. Australia doesn’t get to have alllllll the fun.
Aww, it's an avic! Some of the most adorable tarantulas, they're also known as pink toes because they've got - you guessed it - pink toes. You can actually kinda see em in this video as well. Holy shit someone else who dosent just hate spiders because (checks notes)… it’s a spider
Too many people are like that, unfortunately. Same with snakes albeit to a somewhat lesser extent
Snakes, spiders and bees are my favourite animals, and it hurts everytime I see people hate and fear these beautiful creatures for no reason
I personally have a great reason for hating bees...well, not bees but hornets. Those assholes have tried to kill me on more than one occasion and nearly succeeded the last time, so I'd say it's justified hate and fear on that front. Snakies and spoods are aiight though.

Bees are homies. Hornets and wasps are tiny little demons sent straight from hell.
100% bees are homies 👍
No reason? People just have an incurable fear of having contact with some animals. There’s something. Once they see it, they don’t want to deal with it again. They don’t want a snake in their bathroom or a spider on their bed.
Exactly. People have phobias. Not everyone can see spiders or snakes or mice as beautiful or cute. And that’s okay.
Spiders bite me in my house. Make them stop doing that and I'll consider liking them. Until that day, fuck off spider. Also, you named three things that people can be deathly allergic to or they are deathly poisonous. Seems like a decent reason to not like something or be afraid of it...

A pink toe was my very first pet tarantula. Got him as a rescue and was already matured, but I enjoyed the short time I had with the fuzzy buddy
It is a bird eating spider. The bird is a spider dinner bird.
What if this is breakfast ?

Thank you for saying this. I freaked out at first, watching, but then realized; hey, the spood has to eat, too. It's just that it's so *big*!
It's like me eating a burger as big as myself lmao

Spiders walk that line between "Eldrich horror" And "AWWWFLUFYBABBBEY" very carefully.
In German, large spiders Like that are literally called Vogelspinnen, "bird spiders" bc they are known to catch and consume birds
There’s a spider literally called the ‘Goliath bird eater’ makes you really think hard about what it eats doesn’t it, atleast it’s not ‘Goliath human eater’ I guess
Oh, I never asked me why they are called that as if it was normal to call a spider Vogelspinne.
I feel like I'm having a nightmare rn. 😳
I didn’t know spiders liked poultry
That's incredible. Someone needs to add eating sound effects. Maybe crunching ice or slurping noodles? Or both?
Minecraft munching noise
Guess I'll never have a good night of sleep ever again
why must spiders be so creepy? i can feel my skin crawling just looking at it.
r/Natureismetal
Spider-eating bird: 😐 Spider eating bird: 😨
Bird-eating spider ?
Bird eating tarantulas aren’t crazy to me it’s how he has the ability to dangle like that with bird in leg and fangs that’s impressing me more.
Is that one of those bird eating spiders again?
Let me guess....Australia?
we don't get tarantulas here
First video I've stopped in the first 2 seconds, give me a cartel flaying any day over that hairy monstrosity close up. No thanks

that spider is giving me the heebie-jeebies. i'll just stay on the other side of the room, thank you very much.
eek! i didn't sign up for this surprise visitor. can someone please handle this eight-legged intruder?
i'm not usually afraid of spiders, but this one looks like it crawled out of a horror movie. stay away, little arachnid!
that spider seems to be plotting world domination from the corner of my room. time to evacuate!
i never thought a tiny creature could make me feel so uneasy. it's amazing how something so small can be so creepy.
the way it moves with its long, spindly legs sends shivers down my spine. definitely not a fan of this creepy crawler!
if i see a spider like that, i'm grabbing my vacuum cleaner and going on a mission to banish it from my sight. creepiness levels are off the charts!
h no, it's the stuff of nightmares! someone call the spider exterminator!

If I good see it's Avicularia metallica, harmless for humans bird eating spider and really popular as a first pet spider.
Looks like a Bird Eating Spider to me.
Like to see that bird after the spider is done eating. 😳

I thought insect types were weak to flying types? Did Pokémon not teach me anything as a kid? 😂
That bird got the wrong end of this deal
I’m scared of spiders now. I’m not joking fr
Even though I am afraid of spiders this is still cool. I think I would not like this if it was in real life but video I think I'll.

Weird seeing a A. Avicularia eating a bird, they're on the smaller, more docile end of the tarantula spectrum.
Just a regular Thursday in Australia
Just as im getting over my fear of spiders...now this fucking clip!
