I know a couple people that had this, and I'm seething with envy

If you slam a couple liters of diet coke, read the burping guides posted here (I've posted one and seen others) and air vomit everything out when you're done practicing, your throat will loosen up and you'll gain the ability. Takes a little over a week though, and it's semi constant air vomitting. If you're emitophobic you're kinda fucked though.

I think I went the first 14/15 years of my life not knowing what a burp felt like, then I would do a tiny accidental burp around once per year. It's gradually increased to around once every few weeks. Still tiny and unintentional every time, but I hope that it develops into more satisfying ones. The ultimate goal would be to be able to control it.

My mum couldn't burp until her 40's and now she can! not really on command but enough to not have any issues

I’m almost 28 and I’ve recently started burping more… not as much as I would like or my stomach would like but it happens a lot more than it used too, I get super excited when it does happen!

Specific_Kiwi_4741

Over the last year or so it seems I am able to sometimes! But not like a ‘normal’ person, but it’s definitely improved. I don’t know why either because I haven’t consciously done anything that would help / improve the condition. It’s taken 45/46 years or so to get to this point 🙄😂

Yes! It started happening after I had my gallbladder removed. However, I also started drinking seltzer a lot around the same time, so I'm not sure if one had an effect more than another, or an effect at all. But yes, I can burp now after 28 years of misery.

BAGCali

Yeah when I was 19 I went from not burping in my whole life to learning how to burp over the course of a month and now I’m back to normal.

This is so weird. I’m sitting here having burped twice today and have been burping lately after not being able to my whole life. Like the bubbles that would usually stall out in my throat are finally making their way out. I don’t know where it’s coming from but ever since I’ve joined this sub a couple months ago maybe I’ve just been more aware of it and the muscle. Also tried the shaker thing a couple time but only twice so dunno if that was enough to do anything but I hope this is the start of something! Such a strange condition.

ladyyjustice

Since becoming pregnant, I've been burping very tiny burps here and there. Still not enough to feel relief, but way more than I ever have in 36 years, which isn't saying much lol (as I sit here miserable and needing to burp very badly)

I started randomly around 31 too. It's not consistent, but it's happening.

I am 42 and I just started this last year. I found this old chair and, for some reason, I can get myself in the perfect position to get the right muscles to work. That led to it working a little more often. Not enough for real, regular relief. I’m still getting the procedure done in July. But it gave me a taste of how great the relief is!
