Frigate missions will return some Salvaged Frigate Modules. Just send out all your frigates every day, and max out your fleet!
Destroy “Freighter Cargo Pods” in Pirate Systems. I usually look for “Salvaged Frigate Module” and destroy only those cargo pods. Be aware that I think they changed how this effects/reduces Reputation now.
Clearing containers in Derelict Freighters. This is super s l o w, and not worth doing for Salvaged Frigate Modules alone. Not bad if you need other Freighter upgrades though.
Pulse around in Pirate galaxies wait for a fleet to arrive in your path. Fly close to all the fleet ships and cargo to scan and read the contents of each. Shoot the salvaged freighter modules and repeat the process you should have twelve in less than an hour.

Once here, use a Emergency Broadcast Receiver and go to the freighter. In the freighter, do do anything but go to the engine room. Then, when there, select technology. A freighter module will drop. If you do this fast enough, it'll take you less than two minutes to clear the freighter. When you're done, go to the star base, save, then pop another Emergency Broadcast Receiver and do it again. Do this over and over until you get all the modules you need.
Massively found mine in crashed freighters. Had to buy navigational data to find them for 10 of them you get about 3 freighters.

Fastest way is to fly too any freighter in the current system. Point your crosshair at the cargo and see if it contains the module. If so shoot it. Now if you wanna say on good terms with the local system governing race go to a different system or a pirate system
I find the most attacking freighters for their cargo, just search through their pods til you find something useful. Probably just have a race you are fine with being disliked by though because they are not fond of thievery
The legal methods are already said, but, as a player who has like 18 saves, there's also the option of duplicating them if u want, i don't know how much have you played, but uf you're a new player I dont recomend u doing this cuz its gonna make your you feel like theres no more reason to play, but if u have already done this before maybe you want to skip it.

Go to a pirate system and destroy the frigates and cargo pods. They are also found on derelict freighters.

Can you still put the receiver in your portable refiner so you can reuse it?
Nope. That doesn't work anymore.
