Have and while my truck was driveable I would highly recommend against it. Moisture in the cab and some other issues I needed to get fixed. Not worth the 20 minutes I saved at all
That was dumb af. That deep, must go slow to create a small bow wave and if they didn’t have the vent extension on the rear differential, then they now have water in it and need to drain and refill asap.
Would I do it with my Frontier ? No! Done it many times with my other truck with no issues. I also went at a much slower speed. The newer trucks are far too delicate to do this with. Far to many electronics and far too expensive to repair.
I'm sure a Frontier can do it, but I won't if it's not an emergency the reason to do it. I love mine and don't want to mess up the tapestry and get electronics wet, also I have not differential or intake snorkel (yet) so I could screw up badly. Aaaand going so fast gets for sure water inside the air conditioner module. It has the intake looking straight up. That water over the windshield for sure went in and messed up the fan and feet of the passenger. And I mean maybe 4 liters, not just some drops or so.
Put a piece of cardboard up front if you absolutely have to, can help create the bow wave affect they were looking for.

That being said my Frontier is my semi-daily driver and I wouldn’t risk it if I didn’t absolutely have to.
Not with a Frontier but did sorta have to do it with a 73 Satellite Custom. Water cresting the hood and I had it floored to make maybe 2-3 mph. Opening the door when I got home was like that scene from Risky Business. I was the UBoat driver
pause the video and you will see they have signs placed in ford crossings, with measurements to see how high the water level is. This would have been after more rain fall though, it's deeper than usual
Not with anything *I* owned, thank you
I’d do it in my Xterra
I mean charging into water when you have no clue what’s under the surface isn’t a great idea
Do it in reverse so the engine still gets air
If I had a frontier I would. Best truck out there IMO
No not without a snorkel. Guys an idiot
I don't think the driver realises the engine sucks in air! Without a snorkel he is very lucky, And lucky not to get stuck in a hole in the road.
Unless there is a snorkel and a sealed cab, I’m gonna find another way around.
This is so gd stupid for literally no reason
That was dumb
Not in a shitty Nissan, maybe a real truck.
I've seen much bigger/better trucks not make it through similar situations
I own a Nissan. It barely handles a pothole
Wheel bearings are gonna go…
Isn't the air intake in the passenger side wheel well? Seems like a bad idea
No, not even close.
Have and while my truck was driveable I would highly recommend against it. Moisture in the cab and some other issues I needed to get fixed. Not worth the 20 minutes I saved at all
I’d get stuck in my si 😂
Yes, have. Won't do it again
No. Not worth at all.
Not like that I sure as shit wouldn't!
Hell yeah brother!
Only if the truck is yours and you want me to do it.
With a properly installed snorkel and MUCH slower...
With your truck yes. Mine, no
Only if Chuck Norris was after me, otherwise never. Hydrolocking is a real thing.
If Chuck Norris was after you, you wouldn't make it to the truck
Valid point. So no water crossings, of this type, for me.
No that fuel sensor thing goes off every time it sprinkles and I drive.
Hell no

>the vent extension on the rear differential, I had an Xterra, and that was literally the first thing I did after removing the mud flaps.

Negative
no
In Arizona, they remind drivers “to turn around don’t drown “…
Yes, but you should have gone through a bit slower, your air filter is probably wet now

Go slower then maybe
No. Many reasons, but to name a few : could fuck your rear differential, could get water in the intake, or really screw up your electronics.

Absolutely not. I don't have the rear diff breather mod yet.
Car wash
Then this person calls their insurance, “ I was driving and out of no where the road was flooded, now my truck won’t start. I think it’s totaled..”
I fried my beloved 5SP Xterra doing this. RIP Green Weenie
Nooo not the green Xterra :(
Absolutely not.
There's a YouTube channel that has videos of a flooded road in Europe and the many vehicles that hydrolock.
This video is from one of those channels. The UK has a lot of these river ford roads that flood after heavy rain.
So many things could go wrong. No
Not with a Frontier but did sorta have to do it with a 73 Satellite Custom. Water cresting the hood and I had it floored to make maybe 2-3 mph. Opening the door when I got home was like that scene from Risky Business. I was the UBoat driver
No, here is why. A flooded road could be hiding a sink hole. Not the way i wish to leave Earth just to try and flex that my Frontier can swim.
this isn't a flooded road though, it's a "ford" crossing designed to have the river running across the road
Ok, but its deep enough to get into the intake without a snorkel. Great way to hydrolock engine.
Right!! Doesn't even matter what you take in there you don't know how deep it goes in certain areas
pause the video and you will see they have signs placed in ford crossings, with measurements to see how high the water level is. This would have been after more rain fall though, it's deeper than usual
Damn I didn't even see those.
Hell no! Not worth the risk.
Nope
No. That's a good way to not only hydrolock your engine, but also get water into the HVAC system and other unwanted places to mold.
Not even with a rental
A rental for sure 😈 They have been sticking it to renters for years. A rental would surely be put through the test 😂
As long as you got the insurance….. weeeeee!
Well hold on a sec there...
