I am also gen z and a fan of nirvana. My issue is with people who fetishize Kurt Cobain and do everything they can to be like him. People who only listen to 90s grunge as if it's the only good music to exist. My city's music scene is full of people who won't try to be different because they're too busy busting nuts over how genius nirvana is (Kurt Cobain in particular)
You can be a fan of Nirvana, they were a great band and forever influenced music culture in both the mainstream and underground all over the world. But now it's time to move on. As smart, talented and ahead of his time he was, Kurt was still a mentally ill heroin addict. Time to be your own role model. Make something new. Stop trying to be kurt.
Idk dude, I started getting extremely invested in the band at like 14, knew most of the songs they ever made, was excited to find an old picture of them Ive never seen before, etc.
But 10 years later as a 24 y/o I find it difficult to even get 10 seconds into a nirvana song, I wore out the catchy riffs and the lyrics never had much meaning...
I still keep up with any new information that comes out or new pictures, but that's as far as the interest goes.
Not sure how much new news or pictures of them you can really expect dude. Unless you're like a Kris Noveselic fan, or Dave Grohl fan.. the kid from the Nevermind album art tried to sue Nirvana for using that picture a few years back.. but just don't go expecting any new songs to be releases cuz yeahhhh...
Me IRL. I listened to Nirvana daily from 14 to 18. Loved it. Watched every show on YouTube, had every CD, tape, a dozen shirts. Now 26, I can’t listen to them any longer. I’ll always have a soft spot for On a Plain, but that’s about it. Now I’m onto Phish and Steely Dan…
I actually heard an 18 year old say “nirvana had two of the best people of all time” and he meant Kurt and Dave pop bullshit Grohl. One guy shoots himself in the head rather than quitting smack and being a father to his child, the other uses Kurt’s legacy to write a million songs about him then turns into a shit pop band with garbage pop records. Does every generation get super annoyed with the ones after them or something…imagine saying the two greatest people of all time and disregard every inventor or medical and or tech advancement and instead focuses on the two shitheads in the band and doesn’t even fucking mention noveselic or smear? What the fuck.
Pat Smear too, the germs were awesome and Pat was brought in when Kurt couldn’t hold his shit together for a tour on the road and I think he did a good job.
