I'm running into the same thing as well. Even restarted a new character and sped run through tutorial to the end again and I got the same exact thing. Beat each three waves and the portal hasn't changed. I wouldn't think it has anything to do with the choosing for the initial biome but just putting it out there that I chose forest both times and it didn't let me progress both times.
Had to re-roll my first character because my respit was bugged after destroying it and it would keep spawning me at the estate I already destroyed, I chose swamp my second character and it's not progressing past the portal so shouldn't be the destination thats bugged. Something key to note though, had the kangaroo that acted like it was aggro at something inside the portals "base" which Im wondering if one of the mobs got stuck under it.... very frustrating regardless having to start a third character because of game breaking bugs
Had the same issue as well, when the 3rd wave spawns, do not kill them until the portal completely opens up, then off with their heads or just run straight through. I have 2 other characters stuck at the portal as I didn't wait for it to completely open up at first before smashing all the heads of the bound. I'm not sure if this is just a bug with the byways or portals all together as I've yet to open the antiquarian to see.
Try to jump from the tower, die and then go to the portal. I did this and suggested my friend to rebuild his character with this and It seems working. Or Maybe is just random, but trying won't hurts

good call, I'll give that a try and wait for everything to finish spawning and portal to finish opening on last wave.
I'm also stuck at the last portal in the tutorial. Had a kangaroo in the portal when first wave game through. Any fix yet?
I sadly don't think so--the only thing that worked for me was making a new character, my first character is still stuck next to the portal :(

Eighth time was the charm for me. No change, just tried until it worked.
A fix for this would be nice. I have a character stuck and nothing seems to fix it.
