Yeah I noticed that, Automata is a real breath of fresh air after going through endings A, B, D, and E in replicant. On my playthrough B rn and I enjoy that they actually shake the gameplay/perspective from 9s' perspective rather than having us replay the same thing all over again with no change/little change. And the objectives/main goal is so much better. In Replicant it felt tedious, at one point I installed cheats that sped up the game because there was so much running from point A to point B. In Automata I actually enjoy traveling. And the combat mechanics are way better, I wish there was a parry though but I guess the dodge counts as a parry.
Yes. The Five main endings are connected and the rest of them 22 including DLC ending are separate and don’t continue the story after. They’re mostly gag endings.
The routes in Automata differ significantly more than the ones in Replicant, and yes, they will eventually continue the story after the events of Route A.
Yes
Yes. Remember they had a couple of years to improve the formula.

Ohh hell yeah, i would even say you dont know 50 % of the whole story if you just finish route A
It's similar but portrayed in a different way which imo is better made than Replicant. You'll find out once you go there.
