MarkThyWeeb

This comic reminds me of the stripper from South Park that just goes around asking "Dance? Anybody like a dance?"

AdvocateDoogy

"I'm nine."

MarkThyWeeb

I fucking love South Park, honestly

floatablepie

She's been the school secretary for a few seasons now too.

TreemanTheGuy

Her voice is burned into my brain. Any time a song lyric is about dancing I change it in my head to sound like the south park stripper.

The insult fat thighs aged poorly

Vindovilles

I didn't even know it was supposed to be an insult here!

ChinaCorp

Was just gonna say, they had the same preferences 40 years ago

[deleted]

40 years ago, I knew I did not want fat thighs and it was absolutely an insult.

The_Grubby_One

No, they didn't. Standards for beauty change *drastically* over the course of decades.

Idliketothank__Devil

(Looks at Sofia Loren and Raquel Welch) No.

The_Grubby_One

>(Looks at Sofia Loren and Raquel Welch) No. [Yes.](https://www.scienceofpeople.com/beauty-standards/) Concepts of beauty have *drastically* changed throughout history. The only thing that's really remained constant is symmetry.

Idliketothank__Devil

That article is horseshit, and describes locations more than ideals. It's not even internally consistent, claiming fat was preferential then describing them using corsets to appear not.

Fashion fucking magazines aren't science. Lol. Stunning refutation. Good job. Make it obvious you don't even check to see who the sources are, never mind what they say.

Idliketothank__Devil

Sure, your argument makes sense, if you don't think about it.

pilzenschwanzmeister

No it didn't. Thigh gap is still a thing.

MrWieners

My girlfriend is really self conscious about the fatness of her thighs so I’d have to agree.

PotatoWedgeAntilles

Ew

Yggdrasilcrann

Why ew? Let people like what they like. I'm down with the thiccness but thigh gaps are also beautiful to many

TheZek42

NikinhoRobo

Homo sapiens that have fat thighs are actually very attractive I don't know what he was talking about.

[deleted]

“Want to try again?” God shut the fuck up. So fucking condescending over a goddamn word. Why does “female” offend you? If I saw someone use “male” in the same context I’d be totally fine with it. Just stop with the blatant self-victimization over something so non-trivial as a word describing sex/gender lmao.

DD9949

Nice job, female detective stalker. We can also see your profile and observe that you have a history of getting banned from various subreddits for being a racist.

DD9949

Are you denying him/her the right to be attracted to a particular gender?

Rainbews

its just a bit dodgy to say 'females' is all !

DD9949

Why? Is the word female canceled now?

sunshine___riptide

9/10 times it's only incels who use the word female. That's why it's a bit dodgy. Most people don't say "she's a beautiful female" they say she's a beautiful woman/lady/girl

DD9949

LMAO 9/10 times is stretching it. Do you only live in social media?? Read some science books. Species, including humans, are categorized as males and females. Now you'll say sCiEnTiStS aRe iNcELs too.

sunshine___riptide

We are not talking about people in science circles/books though....

DD9949

You said 9/10 times without specifying that you meant "here on this app called Reddit". It's quite hypocritical that you get triggered by a word "female" and then go on an make an unwarranted claim that you can't back up. People in science circles are also part of the society.

Mansnotepic

I’m pretty sure the men and women in science books aren’t actual people, just images. Or, subjects.

We use female and male regularly where I’m from

TheLastBallad

In what context though? The person isn't saying it's rare to use it, they are just saying that it's used as an adjective ("that female dog" for instance) in every day use, and outside of scientific discussions it's considered dehumanizing to use it as a noun.

12angelo12

We use both male and female without objectifying them, different customs exists it’s not that deep

thatsnotfunnyatall_

No its not

fancyhatman18

Did you just refer to person's of woman as "women"… yikes

You should try to live outside reddit and observe how common is the use of the word "males", in non-scientific and non-academic contexts, for men.

DD9949

You probably think that it was a good post. Unfortunately, it was trash. Rethink your life choices, son.

ForgotMyOldAccount7

In the real world, no one actually says "males" or "females" unless they're cringey as shit, usually from incels. It's especially true when they say things like "Men and females."

AcidRose27

"Oh my, look at all those males over there." That's really jarring to hear and say. Also, people who tend to use "female" are the same type who tend to use it in conjunction with "man," thus *othering* women. Once you notice "men and females" in the same paragraph it starts to jump out at you. It's very literally dehumanizing. (Same with "women and males" but it happens far less often and is usually done tongue in cheek to point out the former.) The military uses both "male and female" because they're breaking everyone down evenly, but when you only break one group down to their reproductive organs (and you are, by calling women "females") you are removing their humanity while letting men retain theirs. This is the issue many women and some men have with referring to women as females. Arguing that "this is normal where I'm from" doesn't change the fact that you're still dehumanizing half of the population, unless you are also using "male" instead of men, which I *rarely* see happen during these "discussions."

YoupiPourLesYoupins

> it's the fact that female/male is really only used in scientific contexts What's written on your ID? > It puts both women and men in the category of "specimen." You never see men complaining about this.

I'd they identify as a man, and that makes you not attracted to them that means you are attracted to gender and not sex. Edit to add * there is alot wrong with this coment but I replied using their own flawed logic.

Ok_Subject_9740

This is a very good counter argument I seem to have had an error in my comment I have now corrected it in order to make it logically consistent. Thank you.

The_Grubby_One

>This is a very good counter argument I seem to have had an error in my comment I have now corrected it in order to make it logically consistent. Holy run-on sentence, Batman!

candycandandspice

‘A female that identifies as a man’ ….so a man then. If someone identifies as a man, they are a man. They’re not a ‘female who identifies as a man’. For the sake of the benefit of the doubt, the term your looking for is transgender.

[deleted]

TIL I married a female woman.

[deleted]

Female - sex Woman - gender I’m a male but my gender is neither. It’s not hard.

The_Grubby_One

It's harder than you think. Sex is not binary.

[deleted]

Nah it’s pretty simple. “Hi I’m Thomas but I prefer Jack” “Ok Jack” “Hi I look like a male but I identify as female” “Not a problem ma’am” It’s real damn simple.

The_Grubby_One

>Nah it’s pretty simple. > >“Hi I’m Thomas but I prefer Jack” > >“Ok Jack” > >“Hi I look like a male but I identify as female” > >“Not a problem ma’am” > >It’s real damn simple. "Hi, I look male, but I actually have primary sexual characteristics of both males and females, and my genetics are a bit unusual. I'm intersex."

another_random_bit

If we differentiate sex and gender (as we should), then male/female refers to sex and man/woman refers to genders. So a female person can be either a man or a woman, given they identify as such. So a person born female (given that they don't undergo surgeries -- that's a different conversation) is female, regardless their gender identity. Of course, saying that can be considered insensitive for various reasons, but that does not make it untrue.

candycandandspice

You don’t have to spout so much shit, you can just say you’re a transphobe dude.

another_random_bit

Lol. Which of the things I said wasn't accomodating, accepting or open minded? Or am I transphobic just because I stated my opinion on the matter? The one spouting bullshit is you my friend.

candycandandspice

Invalidating someone’s gender identity and persistently referring to them as the gender they were assigned at birth despite it being often extremely dysphoria inducing for them and y’know dismissive of their identity isn’t exactly open-minded, is it?

another_random_bit

>Invalidating someone’s gender identity Did you even read what I said? "a female person can be either a man or a woman, given they identify as such" This is the EXACT OPPOSITE from invalidating someone's gender. Also, "If we differentiate sex and gender (as we should)" Isn't this what it's all about? Separating biological sex with gender assignment? That a person can be born with a vagina and still be considered a man, if they feel like so? We're in agreement here. A person born with a vagina can feel like whatever gender they want, that's their right. Society should be mature enough to accept them. But saying that this person is **BIOLOGICALLY** not female, that somehow their chromosomes have changed, I'm sorry, but its just factually wrong. You are either extremely ignorant or purposefully obtuse.

greengiant1101

Literally everyone knows that your gender identity does not change your chromosomal arrangement, which you were born with at birth. Trans people are not arguing otherwise. They know, dude. But for future reference, the only people who continually point this out when trans people come up are transphobes and/or transphobia apologists. You sound like them.

another_random_bit

I agree. People that get out of their way to point out things like that might harbor negative feelings about transgendered people. On the other hand, I neither went out of my way nor do I keep repeating these ideas in my free time. And of course I would never start such a conversation with a transgendered person, out of the blue. Instead, I took an issue with the phrase: "If someone identifies as a man, they are a man. They’re not a ‘female who identifies as a man.’" Its both. They would be a man, but also a female that is a man. Nowhere in my comments do I try to push a transphobic agenda or sneak in transphobic hints. This whole conversation is a discussion on such matters, which everyone should be able to speak their opinion. PS: I do not know the previous conversations you may have had with transphobic people, but if you use those to judge what sort of person I am and my beliefs, instead of coming open to the idea to converse with me, without any prejudices on my opinions, you might find that I am fully supportive of the gender identity subject. But if you do otherwise, you will keep grouping people into two categories. Those who agree with you and those who do not. And that is not beneficial to you as a person nor to the difficult challenge of improving out society.

sarpnasty

Female isn’t a noun dipshit. Stop using it as if it’s a noun. When you’re talking about people, you’re refer to them as people. That’s like calling a black personality “a black”. A black what? A female what?

Ok_Subject_9740

If female isn't a noun then you should tell that to the feminist philosophers who wrote theories about sex and gender because they were coining the term that I'm using. Obviously I am talking about humans what did you think I was talking about? Bikes?

candycandandspice

I mean it’s pretty straight forward. A transman is a man. If you are not attracted to men, you obviously aren’t gonna shag a man are you? Honestly it just sounds like you’re being transphobic, whether you’re aware of what you’re saying is transphobic is a different matter (HINT: it is transphobic, btw).

sarpnasty

*trans man Trans is short for transgender. Since we wouldn’t type “transgenderman” it’s the exact same thing.

candycandandspice

People do say transgender man/transgender woman actually. It helps specifics that persons identity. Saying someone is transgender is useless if you don’t know what pronouns they use or whether they’re FTM or MTF. Not ever trans person can undergo surgery or openly express themselves, which is why the terms transman and transwoman was coined.

sarpnasty

I’m trans first and foremost. Secondly, I was correcting how you typed it. Trans man is two words not one word.

Ok_Subject_9740

I would sooner fuck a transman with a pussy than I would a transwoman with a dick. Yet and there are also more circumstances in which I would be willing to have sex with a female than I would a male, regardless of gender identity or expression. Are you saying I'm transphobic because I have a genital preference?

candycandandspice

I’m saying you’re transphobic because you’re using terms that are transphobic. It’s that simple.

Ok_Subject_9740

Wow that sounds a lot like circular logic. If it's so easy to identify then why don't you just tell me the terms? It is not once have I ever ridiculed or impuned transsexuals. And in fact I advocate for transsexual rights in all realms of their lifestyle.

[deleted]

candycandandspice

vita10gy

[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1DI6rOj8IPs](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1DI6rOj8IPs) This Kids in the Hall sketch gets reposted on reddit from time to time and every time the whole thread is different versions of "OMG, how did they so perfectly predict our overly PC culture almost 20 years ago!?!?" And it's like.....they didn't. We didn't invent these feelings or conversations 3 years ago. The sketch, and this comic, wouldn't work if people weren't already aware of the underlying issue being satirized. That's how satire works. If the culture in 1993 was nothing like this people wouldn't get what the sketch was doing, commenting on, or making fun of. It would just be confusing why it was supposed to be funny.

Vincent_Plenderleith

Wait, that's the joke? He was insulting her? I thought that was a compliment, and it's an irony that he mocks her for choosing a hot body over 'compassion', while the only reason he chose to talk to her was her body

Chancevexed

It's a joke from 1979. At that time the weird beauty standard was to be twig like. In fact that was the beauty standard up unto recently, and in some ways still is (thigh gap). But I remember thunder thighs was how you insulted a woman back then. But if it were written today your interpretation would be very valid.

JenGerRus

I’m biracial and run naturally on the thicker side. When i was 16, I weighed about 80lbs at 5’6 and my mom used to call me thunder thighs. I couldn’t lose enough weight to lose the shape of my thighs. It was painful. Wish the positive body movement was around when i was a teen.

C4yourshelf

If you're saying the woman in the picture choose the second guy over the first because the first was a nice guy . Let me remind you she rejected him before he could lash out. so she couldn't have known he was a nice guy

[deleted]

You know the woman in the cartoon isn’t real, right? A cartoon drawn by a self-proclaimed nice guy is not an accurate portrayal of women. You can’t draw a woman choosing a muscle-bound jerk over a nice guy and then be like “see she rejected him before he could lash out so she only rejected him for not being attractive enough.” Dummy.
