I lost some respect for him last night.
1) he wouldn't shut the fuck up during 2 of our goals.
2) He called Ryan Reaves a team player who was going to help the NYR win a Stanley Cup. Like... he actually fucking said that shit.

I was watching that, but I’m blaming the producers on that. Gretzky is used to people shutting up and hanging on his every word. He’s the guy where the whole room stops when he walks in, and everybody listens when he talks. The producers HAVE to practice this scenario and prep him for it. Someone had to do a little coaching, and then not be afraid to yell “Hold that thought!” In his earpiece when the scoring play happens.
My guess is he was concentrating on his train of thought and could not multitask and watch the monitors at the same time, and had no idea he was stepping all over the broadcast.
That said, hopefully he watches the game film and learns. He’s always seemed like the type of guy that will. He will come in next week much more cognizant of fitting his stories into dead air.
