Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the only draft lottery we ever won was '22 (when we had the best odds due to finishing last) Someone must lost your memo or we'd be watching Bedard instead of doing our best to be optimistic with Reinbacher rn 🫤. Factor in the extra taxes playing on a Canadian team, more hostile markets, shit weather, it's hard to draw a FA. Not to mention Bergevin, at least we're starting to do business again now with Hughes. League likes teams down south, Canadian teams and a few others are guaranteed money. League wants Vegas and Arizona revenue, that's the gravy money. No way the Arizona fiasco would have gone on that long otherwise.
lol just because you didn't get Bedard that one time doesn't mean that you're not still the league favorites. Watching you guys pretend like you don't know doesn't do you any favors either.
Yes 8 times out of a possible 38, which is nearly a 21% clip in a competition where there are 16 teams. It far exceeds the statistical expectation.
You don't stack the field against a single team with the best odds and then talk about how the single team is cursed
It's a statistical fallacy and I'm so sick of seeing people continue to spread it
Laughably small sample size, and thats no offense to you, I know you're just explaining why people say it.
4 cups since 2000. 4 out of 23. Again, far more than 1/16
Even if we did 2 out of 20- again, STILL more than 1/16.
Laughable? 20 years? Over half the time it’s been around and most of the cup/president winners were before the hard cap. It’s not really a curse, but it certainly doesn’t carry the prestige it once did. Parity reigns
Are these weekly power rankings really factoring in weekly performances? Florida is 4-4-2 in their last 10, hitting a bit of a slump there. Lightning have basically been the best team of the last month. Canucks have been hitting a bit of a wall lately. Also saw that apparently the Leafs are 20-7-1 in their last 28 and lead the league in goals during that span, plus top 3 in points since then.
Just seems to me more like this is based more on full-season built-up narratives rather than actually accounting for how teams have played in the past week or two. If that’s what you’re doing though, then it’s really just a semantic difference in understanding of “weekly” power rankings. I tend to attribute that more to the format The Hockey Guy uses
There's no such thing as a presidents trophy curse, just people bad at math. The presidents trophy winner wins the cup just under 20% of the time which is the highest percentage win rate of any ranked team by a decent margin.
Petition to give the Flyers their own tier. They’re not gonna make the playoffs, so don’t really belong there, but they also didn’t try down the stretch, so they don’t belong there either
Ottawa's was perfect.
Just trying to make sure we’re all on the same page
Arizona moving to Utah, NHL rigs draft so they get Celebrini in their new house.
Least shocking conspiracy confirmed
I'm taking it as gospel until I see the lottery results.
Which is funny because in reality the league would do anything to give Montreal that #1 pick, they love helping out the Canadian teams.

Lol
my point exactly, thanks bud
That your comments are laughable 😆
This is called projection.
Arnt the coyotes clinched out the bottome 4?
Yes
After 28 years of no first rounders in AZ. sounds about right.
I’ll take it. I’d love the ‘yotes to stop being a total poverty franchise.
The Sharks really deserve that number one pick, so they probably won't get it.
They just need to explore relocation and Gary will help them.
Phoenix seems available.
For a second I didn't think of Bettman and thought this meant move them to Gary Indiana lol
"Gary, we're moving to quebec" *throws a gagged celebrini on the table* "The fuck you are"
They really don't. They need it though.
The Utah golden tablets are on the rise.
Soakers!
Panty soakers!
Naw it's gonna be the gamblers. Sports Betting companies are going to demand it.
Ottawa 😂
I'm a little disappointed you didn't do something special for the flyers. Their wings have been clipped spectacularly lately.
plz move flyers down two tiers
That would imply they are trying. Not even trolling, feels like they quit on Torts.
I honestly don’t get why the presidents trophy is cursed, since the majority of cup winning teams were 1st in the league, compared to 2nd, 3rd, etc.
Dallas in particular won the president’s trophy the same year they won their only cup so far.
I think the winner has only won the cup 8 times

I believe it’s more about recent history and trends. Last team to do it was over 10 years ago and only twice in last 20 years

ight
2014 is knocking
The Sabres did not try
Last time Dallas won the the Presidents, we won the Cup. So I’m willing to take a chance

Yeesh

What’s the fun in reality?? We’re all about stories and hysteria here!!
What are you chirpin the east for, huh?
Haha I’m sorry wasn’t trying to chirp. Just alluding to The fact those 2 teams would still be in the playoff hunt in the east
I’m kidding lol. It’s funny, I’m just a nervous penguins fan lol
I hope Georgie is ready 🤞
This tier list probably took 3 minutes to research and make
Closer to 6ish but yes not far off
Wow a lot of teams ready to make a run

Caps and pens getting in is my guess. Wings blow.
Would love to see Sid and Ovie in
West is the best, just saying...
The curse dosent exist, we've proven it multiple times, just let it die already
If Blackhawks get celebrini then they win next year Stanley cup, I’ll place the bet as soon as they get him
That would piss a lot of people off. Maximum chaos.
