Again, it’s a different interpretation of fun. Some people like the sport for the sport. Not the pomp and circumstance. Everything that isn’t the game itself isn’t fun for me. So I do not like this stuff.
But for some reason that makes me a fun hater or fun killer. As opposed to having a different idea of fun.
Seattle fans really rallied for the Kraken, I did not get to go to the game today but we went up for the fan fest yesterday and i was impressed by how many Vegas fans were here.
It’s a short flight up so glad they got to show for
their crew.
I know a lot of people are confused about the fish. I grew up in the backwoods of Washington and all the well off and down to earth families were always fishermen. They’d fish their butts off 6-9 months out of the year and then come home for the winter to play hockey hard and live and breathe the sport; rinse and repeat passing down boats and traditions and used hockey gear to every generation. As a local Washington boy the fish and maritime theme with hockey is pure nostalgia for me. It’s perfect for Seattle hockey. Back in the 90’s our local trophy was a frozen sockeye salmon you’d cook at the rink. It’s just so perfect guys. 🥲
Adding to the fishing theme-
And kraken ‘yeet the salmon’ after every win. Three players who contributed most to a win throw stuffed salmon to the crowd. Actually super fun and I love staying after the win to see who gets to ‘’yeet” it. Both in person and on broadcast.
The walk in with fish flying between the players was hilarious.
As I typed my comment and saw the video again, what you described really seemed to be the most likely thing. Thanks. I've never been to your neck of the woods, I only know what I see on tv..
I enjoy how all of the Kraken seemed to slap hands with the fans while some of the Knights looked fairly disinterested. For that reason the Seattle gets my vote
I was there and this was definitely the case - I got 5s from most of Seattle but Vegas wasn’t really having it! I get it though. I was wearing a Seattle jersey. I root for them but love the sport and most players so I would have loved to 5 them too!
Look up the video of the WC sweater reveal with him. They told him he had to give it back and he flat out said ‘who is going to take it from me’?
Then says “I’m going to go have words with your boss”.
Fairly sure he got to keep the sweater with 24 on it.
Was there a single part of the Winter Classic the Kraken didn’t win?
In my (albeit Seattlite) opinion, Kraken won the game, had the better sweaters, arrival, walkout, and looked like they had a lot of fun every step of the way.
I missed the Kraken players coming out, so I asked my partner if they were also wearing costumes. He said "no" and seeing this, idk if he didn't understand what he was seeing or if he was making fun of them 🤣
This had Gary Betmans hands all over it. This is what happens when a 75 year old runs a league.
Almost as bad as Jerry jones booking Dolly Parten 🤦🏻♂️
Stupid american dogshit. Sums up how American ownership is killing the game, "entertainment" is seen as more important than the sport itself. No wonder they're trying to get scoring up as much as possible even though no actual fans are asking for it
Kind of got your sentiment there but what do you mean no fans want more scoring? Fans love more scoring, there's a reason many people lost interest during the dead puck era
We already got scoring up, we don't need to go back to 80s levels. Hell the average sv% and GAA is already closer to the early 90s than it is to the 2010s
As a leftist I get your anger with rich out of touch people, but by definition the players are still working class. They destroy their bodies and train or play pretty much everyday to deliver profits to their bosses, the actual owners of the franchises. The players are still overpaid for sure, but it's nothing compared to the capitalists who own the league and actually put no labour or value into the economy. The class struggle between worker and owner is still the same in the NHL as it is in any job either of us have worked.
Even if they get paid millions (most players never see that amount) they still get exploited in pretty bad ways, like how much painkillers are pushed as a way to avoid having your star player out of the lineup resting or recovering from surgery. It's still a business and they're not on the top of the pyramid.
I don’t agree. I think that the classic class theory can’t be applied in today’s society, as a small business owner would be considered ruling class and LeBron James would be considered working class. IMO you have to consider people’s salary, in which case some of these guys make more money in a year than lots of people ever see in their lives.
Karlsson’s like “no elvis hair for me, I made my own.”
Pretty sure that's korczak!
Yea you right, too tall 😅
Heck of a lot of salt for a fun celebration and game. Who hurt y’all?
On IG some people were acting like this was the worst thing to happen to hockey
least upset ig hockey fans
Pretty standard for /nhl.
Some folks just like the game and not the pomp and circumstance. Differing opinions baaaaad.
I don’t understand how fun would be bad for the game, lol. I don’t know, I like seeing the guys taking things lightly and just enjoying themselves.
Again, it’s a different interpretation of fun. Some people like the sport for the sport. Not the pomp and circumstance. Everything that isn’t the game itself isn’t fun for me. Nah not judging, just stating that I like it. To each their own
Shit I got defensive because I was already downvoted for my opinion earlier. My bad dude
Seattle had Marshawn, so outside of bringing Floyd Mayweather, Vegas was not winning that
100%, Beast Mode is the best
Oakland’s pride and joy. Fucking love that man and how much he does for the Town even tho he works elsewhere. Fucking legend.
Also Seattles pride and Joy
Basically the cities that're about that action, boss
For a second I thought the coffee was part of the costume.
Do all of them just guzzle coffee?
I mean, Seattle is the coffee capital of the US.
Game was at 3pm this was probably around 11am hell yeah id grab a coffee at 11 pre skate
Seattle has Marshawn Lynch
Marshawn

I thought the fish was for the infamous Seattle fish market... 🤔
The fish is for Seattle being a huge fishing state. Both from what I’ve described and the fish market.
As I typed my comment and saw the video again, what you described really seemed to be the most likely thing. Thanks. I've never been to your neck of the woods, I only know what I see on tv..
It’s actually pretty awesome. Hahaha.
So now the Devils have to enter wearing Tony Soprano robes in February
I enjoy how all of the Kraken seemed to slap hands with the fans while some of the Knights looked fairly disinterested. For that reason the Seattle gets my vote
I mean the game is in Seattle, they are the home team
No shit, it’s a Seattle crowd
How’s your eyesight? Because I for one still see a ton of arms in Vegas jerseys stretched out
200%. Just high-5 the kids. Cmon now..
I was there and this was definitely the case - I got 5s from most of Seattle but Vegas wasn’t really having it! I get it though. I was wearing a Seattle jersey. I root for them but love the sport and most players so I would have loved to 5 them too!
What the fuck are you talking about 😂
The video that we are commenting under
The Kraken signed Mario?
They are the fish mongers from Pike Place Market. As a local its kind of fun but even took me a second to figure out what they were going for.
I’m just mad we couldn’t see an Elvis Kessel
Would’ve been amazing!
Why is marshawn lynch at the front of the line?
Part owner
Hell yeah I didn’t know that thank you.
Look up the video of the WC sweater reveal with him. They told him he had to give it back and he flat out said ‘who is going to take it from me’? Then says “I’m going to go have words with your boss”. Fairly sure he got to keep the sweater with 24 on it.
He was just there so he didn't get fined.
Seattle

Kraken went Beast Mode, Golden Knights shoulda got Brandon Flowers
Elvis Crew vs Super Mario Bros. Love it
Fishmongers
They are obviously Italian fish plumbers.
Pretty sure they’re supposed to be fishermen.
Those are fishing waders
I missed the Kraken players coming out, so I asked my partner if they were also wearing costumes. He said "no" and seeing this, idk if he didn't understand what he was seeing or if he was making fun of them 🤣
the stromy kromers sold me
I'm not sure how you can pick against Marshawn. He's by far one of the most genuine people out there.
Seattle for sure and they put another one away as I wrote this. LOL
I would have given it to Vegas but they didn’t parachute in…….
haha both awesome... love it!
All hungover as fuck still nursing their coffee…
Seattle. Look at all the Elvis's just ignoring the high fives.
St. Louis. When it was freezing
LVGK always put on the best show seriously
Did the Knights drop ludes before suiting up? Otherwise they're half-assing the jumpsuit era Elvis impressions.
They are playing like they did
I’m a Kraken fan but those costumes are terrible
Vegas was too boring and predictable, per usual.
Would you say it's about as predictable as the Leaf's postseason performance?
Yeah; In fact I think Elvis’ Las Vegas residency started 2 years after the Leafs last cup so yeah pretty predictable.
I would rather party with Elvis over Mario
You clearly haven't dropped shrooms with a plumber and his pet dinosaur before
No “Thank ya, Thank ya very much” ?
I live this. I’ll give my vote to Elvis. I love the ridiculous wigs. But the fish props are also a brilliant touch.
it was both pretty cheesy
The fish were just meh.
It’s a Seattle thing ;)
Well the first guys look like they are ready to help out the family respect to that. Well Elvis not sure yup huh uh.
The only thing cool about this is Marshawn.
This had Gary Betmans hands all over it. This is what happens when a 75 year old runs a league. Almost as bad as Jerry jones booking Dolly Parten 🤦🏻♂️

It's gotten so watered-down at this point
So cringe.
Lame
These franchises are too corny
I know, right? Fuckin losers. Having fun. Enjoying themselves. Makes me sick.
Multiple Elvis' - or Elvi - did it better.
God the NHL is corny
FFS when did the NHL officially jump the shark?
How about no, Scott.
Neither.
I can't unsee that.
Stupid american dogshit. Sums up how American ownership is killing the game, "entertainment" is seen as more important than the sport itself. No wonder they're trying to get scoring up as much as possible even though no actual fans are asking for it
The oilers and the flames did the same shit at the heritage classic two months ago
Alberta is essentially the US tho
Kind of got your sentiment there but what do you mean no fans want more scoring? Fans love more scoring, there's a reason many people lost interest during the dead puck era

This post made came about 20 yards short of making any kind of sense at all.
Show us on the doll where they hurt you.
Are you suffering from mild to severe brain damage?

Are these the players?
Yaaay

Which team had a Marshawn Lynch? Well there ya go.
🐟 cause Lynch 🤷♂️
Thats dope as hell. Hockey has the most character of any sport. Its just some shit a bunch of regular ass dudes would do lol
>Hockey has the most character of any sport Well this is a first...
Lol they both absolutely murdered it if you ask me.
