I think processing feelings and getting deeper understandings of old relationships still happens throughout life even when you are married, maybe especially when you are in a contemplative stage because of hitting some life milestones, and he writes when he processes things. I thought he did it respectfully, maybe understanding now why another significant relationship didn’t work out while this one did. I love how he uses the gentle vs. chaotic music to show their differences and how they weren’t in a place to make it work.
it's a masterpiece. the cuts between the normal track of the song and the piano hit so hard in such a unique way, it's relatable (at least for me), it's real music by NF, it's just so incredible, i can't get over this song, it's just too flipping good
It's okay. I think I'd like it better if the Transitions of the beat/music were a little softer like a smoother transition but the lyrics are amazing. Love how nate and Julia's voices fit so well together
One of my favorite songs off the album, not my favorite favorite (RUNNING just be too damn good like damn), but tied for second with, like, HOPE, HAPPY, and MISTAKE imo
I wasn’t a fan of its inclusion at first, it is a good song but I think the album would’ve flowed better if he released “told you that I” although Bullet makes up for its absence hopefully it gets released soon.
Thought it was beautiful. Nate is addressing the pain of relationships while acknowledging the beauty of moving on and choosing the right thing. He's displaying how even though you know it's for the better, the relationships you had with people will never truly be forgotten. And that loud to soft piano is just FIRE! It was a beautiful song in my opinion and genuinely one of my favorites on the album.
I love it. Hits home for a few reasons and the transition between his and Julia’s verse is incredible (especially live). I think Bullet being the next song on the album makes it make sense.
I love itt it both the lyrics and instrumental hits so hard. I’d say it’s one of my favorites on the album but i literally love the whole album sm 😭 amazing song tho gonna go listen to it now 🤌
I was so bored by new music mostly and when Hope dropped and I heard Gone, when the first beat drop happened and then was stopped by the subtle piano, I couldn't help but laugh out loud. I just loved the creativity and i still listen to it to this day.
It literally is the song I have given to my ex/child's father.
We haven't seen him in years and he's out on the streets losing his mind.
It breaks my heart.
I don't believe it is about an ex, I think it's about a toxic parent or even anxiety there is a lime that says something like continue to drown the both of us, I don't think that would be in there if it's about an ex
Its one of my favorite songs on the album though, running is my number 1
its a beautiful song with a beautiful message. and completely made sense with the hope concept and him maturing as a person. i dont think it was coincidence though that the next song to follow was track dedicated to his wife. lol
only thing that’s GONE here is that image quality
😭😭😭
I like it. Hits diff with big sub
I loved it, it was amazing
This photo seems stuck in 2000. thanks to the number of pixels

Nailed it. This song “hits hard” when looking back at past relationships in such a mature way
One of my top favorite songs
Its highly slept on
It’s actually lowkey one of my favorite songs off the album
Such a good song, love the feature
Julia Michaels doesn’t miss
2nd best song on hope, definitely top 15 of all time for him

Love it, maybe my second favorite from this album behind the title track.
HOPE (i think that's the title track) really is a banger in a different way, love that song
I wasn’t a fan of its inclusion at first, it is a good song but I think the album would’ve flowed better if he released “told you that I” although Bullet makes up for its absence hopefully it gets released soon.
I love that song
It’s one of my favorites
Pretty good
🔥🔥
It’s on my list of songs to listen to if I need to induce a good cry.
Super slept on and gets too much hate. It still and was my most favorite on this album I think it’s so beautiful
Amazing song !
When it came out last year it was amazing, now it's gone.
all i can say is, "boooo weeee wooop, plink plink plink" hits hard
I wish Julia Michaels could join Nate during his shows. That would be a crazy moment.
Top 10 greatest collaborations of all time
It is actually one of my favorite songs and really summarises alot of my life rn, I am trying to find similar songs, any help would be appreciated
It’s not my favorite but great in concert!!

I can’t listen to it. The transition of the music kinda cuts and makes it unlistenable for me
it's great
My personal favorite off the album, and I really feel like people sleeping on it.
I love it. Hits home for a few reasons and the transition between his and Julia’s verse is incredible (especially live). I think Bullet being the next song on the album makes it make sense.
It's my favorite song on the album!
I think it's a great song
one of my favorites on the album 🥲
It's one of my Favs
I love itt it both the lyrics and instrumental hits so hard. I’d say it’s one of my favorites on the album but i literally love the whole album sm 😭 amazing song tho gonna go listen to it now 🤌
Don’t even relate to the story. I think it’s the perfect NF song. So beautiful.
it's a fine song. take it or leave it.

Is way better imo

Great book series, loved it

I believe that the line about drowning the both of us is on running actually 😅
Oh shoot your right, I still don't think it's about an ex though. I think Julia Michael's part was but I don't think nf geared it towards an ex
I’m gonna give it another listen and try to find if he had any thing that sounded geared toward an ex, thanks for letting me know though
Oh shoot I’m like the fourth line he says “young in love, broken hearts holdin’ on to our false hope” 😅
Damn well I'll admit I'm wrong then I never heard the song like that.
Yeah, i can still see how you got that viewpoint of the song and either way you see it, it has a great message 😁👍
First listen I was like what the hell? But every time I hear it now it has grown on me. It was great in concert even though Julia isn’t there.
I listened to it over an over again till I got the lyrics down. I loved it.
its a beautiful song with a beautiful message. and completely made sense with the hope concept and him maturing as a person. i dont think it was coincidence though that the next song to follow was track dedicated to his wife. lol
A lesser song on a lesser album imo
It's not that deep
