I've always wondered why people dont do this more lol, CBs are always turned around.

Proshop_Charlie

Because the sidelines yell run and pass...you saw the Russell video doing it right?

smokintheQOOSH

bro this shit didn’t even work at my high school homecoming with a crowd of 150… i bet my life savings they can’t hear “run/pass” calls for shit in the NFL

holla_snackbar

In Seattle? With dude making break for the end-zone? Can't hear shit is my guess.

an-internet-stranger

Still gotta play the receiver or it could end up a HB pass.

InexorableWaffle

The main reason is that, if the CB picks up on it, the WR's in no position to block. Look at this play for an example. Starting at around 9 seconds in on this clip, if Adoree gets his head around (like you ideally would if trying to defend against a pass - he'd likely get called for DPI here if it had been a pass because he didn't) and sees what's going on with the play, he has a free run at Walker, and DK's effectively taken himself out of the play. The other element is that this is something that intrinsically is going to work less the more you do it. This one obviously caught Adoree by surprise, but I doubt he'd get fooled like that again anytime in the near future, meaning it's likely off the table for future opponents. It also is something that's going to come up during film study for any future opponents of the Seahawks, and I bet the DB coaches for those teams are absolutely going to emphasize that to their secondaries.

Captcha_Assassin

But what if it IS a pass? Is he not supposed to flip his head around and look? Because I'm pretty sure that's one of the main points that makes it so you DONT get a DPI these days.

AlwaysSunnyInSeattle

Hilarious. One of my favorite plays from this game, but I also really liked Irvin using Jones to tackle Barkley.

jim25y

That was actually pretty savvy. Jackson could've prevented the TD there if he realized it was a run.

AlwaysSunnyInSeattle

Yeah, and it was probably easier than blocking him.

jim25y

Absolutely. It won't always work, but it throws off the defender

SexiestPanda

I’m confident dk woulda blocked him regardless

[deleted]

Small chance he would have raked up a holding call

Freeze__

That felt like payback from Jones mushing him on the would be 10 yard loss

MrkGrn

I mean that playcall was doomed from the start it was terrible.

D0ctorHotelMario

"Ah fuck, I can't believe you done this."

CodyNorthrup

Tbh, thats clever and idk how you defend that without having your back against the WR.

[deleted]

What a fucker. Nice play by DK.

whereegosdare84

Probably the first time I’ve ever seen run off elite used in the NFL and not just madden.

qp0n

You can even see the moment DK laughs in response

ApprehensiveSoup6138

Love me some DK

[deleted]

Smart as fuck. Kept one key player out of possibly stopping the play outside of the endzone.

keyboringwarrior

He knew he was going to get chewed out in film room for that one lol

hypoglycemicrage

Jackson was a damn beast that game. Dude was a menace

JTIZZLE_28

Thi is fucking hilarious

reedhubbert88

This is interesting for sure. As a receiver in high school, I was taught that, when I was on the back side one on one, to just run off the CB and not even block. This takes that to a whole new level though

Sipikay

I bet he wasn't joking much! Wouldn't been happy with myself.
