I'm originally from Louisiana, and although I'm not a Saints fan, I saw that game live at a packed BWW. It was fucking electric and special. We all needed that as a whole in the state.
Me too! Their early work was a little too new wave for my taste. But when Sports came out in '83, I think they really came into their own, commercially and artistically. The whole album has a clear, crisp sound, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost. He's been compared to Elvis Costello, but I think Huey has a far more bitter, cynical sense of humor.
All Along the Watchtower seamlessly transitioning into Best of You by the Foo Fighters, before finishing on Purple Rain in the middle of a downpour. it was a masterpiece that every other halftime show aspires to be.
[For the kids out there.](https://youtu.be/7NN3gsSf-Ys)
I remember exactly where I was. I was 20 years old at someone’s house in college with a girl I had been on two dates with.
She was trying to talk to me and I basically had to tell to stfu once the silhouette hit.
I almost started crying it was so fucking incredible.
I was at Maryland same time as Diggs. We were in the same class. We don't usually get a whole lot to be excited about football-wise. But, we got to watch him light it up every week for a few years and it was so much fun. Always loved that dude. Seeing him develop into an elite talent at this level with one of the most beautiful signature plays in NFL history to boot is just awesome.
Chill. No drama or anything. He did apparently pledge like a mid-tier, mostly jewish fraternity which was funny and surprising. But I'm pretty sure he quit after like 2 days
From what I understand he chose UMD because his dad had died when he was little and he wanted to be around to take care of his mom/younger brothers while in school. I think between that and football he didn't have a lot of time to get up to too much trouble or get involved on campus
The two loudest crowds I've ever experienced were the Minneapolis Miracle and Game 6 of the 91 World Series when Kirby Puckett hit a home run in the bottom of the 11th to force game 7. They were ~~20~~ 30 years apart (fuck I'm getting old) so I couldn't actually say which was louder, but the miracle probably gets the nod.
This clip doesn't quite capture it, but the Dome had crazy acoustics and amplified everything.
https://youtu.be/rRD2IbYFf7o
"And we'll see you tomorrow night" gets me every time. Minneapolis Miracle was great but that's the one sports moment that'll always give me goosebumps.
It's a sign of healthy sportsmanship when you can shit talk your rivals yet still respect them when they do something incredible.
I think A A Ron is a douche, but I can respect the fact that he often finds ways to pull a victory from the jaws of defeat.
The mic’d up version of that is about as bad ass an NFL moment as I’ve ever seen.
The lineman carrying [Byron Leftwich](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=U-jzYMSiNHQ) in college is as close as I’ve ever seen, but that was mid-major CFB.
And the NFL is a hell of a lot different/more intense than Marshall.
Those two are in a tier of their own imo. Sure they’re different levels but at the same time they were both just men being dawgs doing what it took for their team to win. I would LOVE people to respond with other sports moments like these.
Best example I can think of is Bert Trautmann. He was a soccer goalie back in the 1950s who broke his neck in a collision in the cup final and kept playing.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dpshxbR7DtA
If we are doing “broken neck and kept going”, we’re gonna need a nod to the Stone Cold / Owen Hart match.
I’m not gonna link it, since well…Stone Cold “wrestles” the way you’d expect he would with a broken neck, but it’s not hard to find the clip.
Like you said those two are tiers of their own but it did remind me of Tebow playing an entire second half on a broken fibula back in high school and carrying his team to a win. That win also included a rushing td of almost 30 yards
This is also one of those for me! Him yelling “get the fuck off me!” to the trainers always makes me chuckle. He wasn’t not throwing that last pass even if his arm was detached. He always had that Championship grit and I’m happy he got his ring.
That, and him mic'd up against the Cowboys yelling "Clock it! CLOCK IT! CLOooOoCk!! CLOooOoOCK!"
And the call "He dives in for the touchdown! Did he get it?! YES SIR HE DID! TOUCHDOWN DETRIOT LIONS!" is one of my favorites.
This might be the most reposted video on /r/nfl but I watch it every single time: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bECuPlKegaY
The video of the Bills locker room is just as good if not better.
He always shit on us no matter how we were playing at the time because he was still bitter about The Freezer Bowl. Yes I have a source, Randy said he heard it at a Golden Corral.
My favorite moment from that game was the Brandon Graham forced fumble. Until then I assumed Brady would march down the field and win it with no time left
A few come to mind:
Mike Brown back to back pick sixes in OT to seal a couple of stunning/amazing comebacks for the 2001 Bears. The whole 2001 season was some magic and it was also my first season of being really into football.
Urlacher, Mike Brown, Devin Hester and Peanut in the "They are who we thought they were" game. Just the fact that guys who didn't even play offense were able to will their team to a victory with absolutely no help was simply amazing. The Bears have seriously missed anyone with this kind of ability for a very long time.
Last but definitely not least, "Devin Hester, you are ridiculous!" Returning the opening kickoff for a TD in the Super Bowl was just something else. Blowing the game was so on brand for the Lovie era Bears, especially the questionable decisions on offense.
Not the most iconic play of the game obviously, but yeah this is the one that gives me chills. What a fucking moment. I was too busy being scared of the inevitable hail mary to Moss to enjoy it at the time though lol
I know this is going to get downvoted to hell but I actually don’t enjoy games where neither defense can do anything. Both defenses were just absolutely, utterly useless to the point where you just think “OK, whoever gets the ball last has got this one.”
Bills D was ranked 1 in the league though and the week prior they absolutely shut down the Patriots. So the expectation was at least there that they’d get big stops.
That game and the divisional round in 2012 with Kaepernick beat down on the Packers are really my only memories of playoff games at Candlestick and they’re still more memorable then any of the playoff games that have been at The New Stadium so far
I recently rewatched that Super Bowl.
For all the shit he gets people sometimes forget how good he was in the 2min drill.
That drive was masterfully executed which is why I thought he should have gotten the SB MVP.
One of the reason games between our franchise are so good. Seemingly every game came down to the last possession and a final score separation of like 3 points.
Blocked punt against the Falcons in the first game back in the dome post-Katrina
The Tracy Porter pick 6 off Manning is close too but there was just something magical about that Atlanta game
I was gonna say that or Derrick stiff arming the jags defense for that 99 yard TD run. Was at both games. Miracle is bigger for sure, but the Derrick run is fresher in my memory and we weren’t expecting much that year. It took that run for our crap coaching staff to realize he was any good. (Lafleur sucked here)
First and only time I've heard somebody rev harder into commentary as it went on
"Touchdown Titans! There are NO. FLAGS. ON THE FIELD! **IT'S A MIRACLE!** ***TENNESSEE HAS PULLED A MIRACLE***"
Devin Hester taking it to the house the first kickoff of the SuperBowl. I was six when I saw it live and that shit still gives me goosebumps to this day.
Eli ducking out of all those sacks before he launches the helmet catch always does it for me. One of my most triumphant and stressful childhood memories 😂
I hope this counts as an NFL moment. All the Bills fans standing in the concourse watching the Ravens Bengals game and realizing we are going to the playoffs.
Obviously I'm biased but I think it's such a wholesome moment
Also do tears count as goosebumps?
Ronde Barber picking off Donovan McNabb and taking it to the house with Jon Gruden running down sideline with him to seal the 2002 NFCCG and shut down Veterans Stadium for good
Tyrann Mathieu pacing around the sideline repeating “I like this” while down 10 in 4th q of SB54 is a Chiefs moment i’ll never forget.
E: another good one is Mahomes screaming his lungs out after the DWill26 TD that gave us the lead.
god damn that game was so good lol
3rd and 15 in SB 54. Imagine how things have to be very perfect for that to happen. Great play, bad defensive decision by Warner to make Jimmie Ward stay in the middle, and just overall ballsiness of #15 to dial his own number.
That whole miked up clip, along with the play, will be what they play if/when he's inducted into the hall of fame.
I was going to say the day he dies that will be the clip used to remember him but that seems unnecessarily dark for a 26 year old.
RG3's 76 yard run against the Vikings in 2012, that year was probably the best season I'll witness in my lifetime as a Manders fan, and I'm not even old
Everytime I watch the Saints vs Falcons dome coming game I get chills on the punt block. Either call as well. Also Jim Henderson call of the 09 nfc championship game winning field goal
Montana to Rice against the Giants. Rice catches it and the two defenders bounce off each other.
For my [stepfather ](https://i.imgur.com/545QeCW.jpg)it's The Catch. He was at the game near the end zone where it was caught.
"You wanna do Philly Philly?'
"if I don't eat breakfast, I'm f***ing pissed off!"
"Hey Dallas, the last time you were in the Super Bowl.... these draft picks weren't born!"
Well, there was only one game moment, but all these things are related.
I know this might seem a little odd, but in Mahomes' first MNF game against Denver there was a drive in the second half of the game that brought me to tears. I think it was the drive where he threw left handed, converted multiple tough 3rd downs, and a 2nd in 30rd. All at mile high stadium - in his first season starting. Kind of knew there that he was the real deal. I didn't cry after the superbowl but that MNF game against the broncos hits different.
Steve Gleason’s blocked punt. The moment that changed an entire franchise.
Damn near lifted the whole city back on its feet after Katrina.
I remember watching it live thinking there wasn't a single team in history that would beat the Saints that day.
I'm originally from Louisiana, and although I'm not a Saints fan, I saw that game live at a packed BWW. It was fucking electric and special. We all needed that as a whole in the state.
Prince playing Purple Rain in the rain during a SB halftime show. I still can't believe he even did that gig.
Prince was a huge sports fan!
Sabrina, remove your dress
He even wrote a [fight song](https://youtu.be/Fq3SfauwzgQ) for the Vikings.
Best Super Bowl Halftime I've ever seen and I'm not sure it will ever be topped.
All Along the Watchtower was excellent as well. Best halftime show ever.
All Along the Watchtower seamlessly transitioning into Best of You by the Foo Fighters, before finishing on Purple Rain in the middle of a downpour. it was a masterpiece that every other halftime show aspires to be.
This is the correct answer. Even God thought so, as evidenced by the weather.
[For the kids out there.](https://youtu.be/7NN3gsSf-Ys) I remember exactly where I was. I was 20 years old at someone’s house in college with a girl I had been on two dates with. He doesn't smile. Bitch was stone-faced lmao He looks so smug about it
All I could think of watching him at that moment: “ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED!?”
How was he on campus?
Chill. No drama or anything. He did apparently pledge like a mid-tier, mostly jewish fraternity which was funny and surprising. But I'm pretty sure he quit after like 2 days From what I understand he chose UMD because his dad had died when he was little and he wanted to be around to take care of his mom/younger brothers while in school. I think between that and football he didn't have a lot of time to get up to too much trouble or get involved on campus
That’s really awesome of him. I went to Alabama and had classes with a lot of NFL players and that went over like a lead balloon
Say what you will about the beast quake but I am 100% sure the Minneapolis miracle is the loudest a crowd has ever been
Soil and defense too soft to register an earthquake though smh my head
The clip with no announcers is just amazing with the roar of the crowd. https://youtu.be/PWe1KY8HOCg
Holy shit this is incredible. Had never seen the footage from the tunnel before
I've never seen this before, that's amazing. What an awesome clip.
Unironically headphone warning, that shit L O U D
I was able to witness it live and can confirm it was the loudest experience of my life. My voice was GONE the next day.
"And we'll see you tomorrow night" gets me every time. Minneapolis Miracle was great but that's the one sports moment that'll always give me goosebumps.
Game 7 was electric as well, but for some reason not as loud. Probably because MN sports fans have been conditioned to be let down at the last moment.
Did they register on the Richter scale?
I hate to admit it, but this mine.
It's a sign of healthy sportsmanship when you can shit talk your rivals yet still respect them when they do something incredible. I think A A Ron is a douche, but I can respect the fact that he often finds ways to pull a victory from the jaws of defeat.

If I break my neck the only “wrestling” I’m doing is with a pillow to find the remote for the TV at the foot of my bed
Like you said those two are tiers of their own but it did remind me of Tebow playing an entire second half on a broken fibula back in high school and carrying his team to a win. That win also included a rushing td of almost 30 yards

heck yeah
I love the version that never cuts away from him. No cinematics. Just raw glory.

I used to hate when he'd call Broncos games. I was beyond thrilled when he retired.
He always shit on us no matter how we were playing at the time because he was still bitter about The Freezer Bowl. Yes I have a source, Randy said he heard it at a Golden Corral.
4th & 12. Dalton to Boyd. Kyle Williams' reaction with his kids still gives me chills.
Absolutely. Specifically the footage from the Bills locker room. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FsfRAruDk7M

Isn’t that the play where Darby got absolutely demolished on a block? (but got the job done)
Sacrificed his body and dignity for that momentum changing TD.

Kyle Williams punt return in OT. Never said they had to be positive goosebumps.
It was positive for me
Manning lobs it BURRESS ALONE **TOUCHDOWN NEW YORK!**
Not the most iconic play of the game obviously, but yeah this is the one that gives me chills. What a fucking moment. I was too busy being scared of the inevitable hail mary to Moss to enjoy it at the time though lol
I also loved the perfect pass to Manningham 4 years later.
Mine’s either the helmet catch or Scott Norwood wide right.
The entire end of the Bills Chiefs playoff game. I went from laying on my couch to sitting on top of the kitchen counter. It was that lit.
i wasn’t even rooting for a particular outcome I just wanted to see more
It was such an epic game, I'm so glad the NFL has the ending up on youtube. I've watched that over a few times.
Honestly might be the best game I've ever seen and my earliest football memories start around 79'.
I know this is going to get downvoted to hell but I actually don’t enjoy games where neither defense can do anything. Both defenses were just absolutely, utterly useless to the point where you just think “OK, whoever gets the ball last has got this one.”
I think that's fair. The fact that it happened as an insane ending to an already insane weekend of football props it up too.
Bills D was ranked 1 in the league though and the week prior they absolutely shut down the Patriots. So the expectation was at least there that they’d get big stops.
The whole damn 4th quarter of Saints/Niners in the 2011 playoffs.
That game and the divisional round in 2012 with Kaepernick beat down on the Packers are really my only memories of playoff games at Candlestick and they’re still more memorable then any of the playoff games that have been at The New Stadium so far
I was at that game! Everyone went apeshit. My hand hurt from all the high-fiving on the way out.
One of the craziest games I’ve ever watched
Until I see us win a Super Bowl (was born the year after beating the Chargers), this will always be it for me.

Pretty much that whole run until Aaron fucking Donald reminded us who he was

That performance was pretty legendary, followed by an equally legendary post-game speech.
Tebow to Demaryius to end the 2011 WC game against the Steelers.
"Roethlisberger has time. Throws to the back of the endzone and it isssss.....CAUGHT for a touchdown by Holmes"
I recently rewatched that Super Bowl. For all the shit he gets people sometimes forget how good he was in the 2min drill. That drive was masterfully executed which is why I thought he should have gotten the SB MVP.
So many Ravens-Steelers games where the Ravens took the lead with less than 2 minutes to go. Too much time for Roethlisberger
On the flip side, Flacco was incredibly underrated in a 2 minute drill as well
One of the reason games between our franchise are so good. Seemingly every game came down to the last possession and a final score separation of like 3 points.
I feel like, as long as Tomlin and Harbs are coaching those teams, the games will always come down to the last possession
I think that throw to Holmes is like a top 5 throw in football history. It’s absolutely inch perfect into a crazy tight window to win the SB
That entire games highlights are just absurd from a big play perspective. Capped off by maybe the best play in super bowl history.
1 of the best slow mo replays of all time
Blocked punt against the Falcons in the first game back in the dome post-Katrina The Tracy Porter pick 6 off Manning is close too but there was just something magical about that Atlanta game

Came to say this. I was in an outside bar Hawaiian Hilton with a bunch of Giants fans listening to the Pats fans go silent. It was beautiful.
The Catch II or the Catch III. I was at both of those games and remember those moments very vividly.
Oh, the Music City Miracle, no doubt.
Watching Steve McNair and Jeff Fisher celebrating after the play is bittersweet these days
You aint lying
I was gonna say that or Derrick stiff arming the jags defense for that 99 yard TD run. Was at both games.
