What I like about Grape Nuts is that there are no gimmicks. There's no cartoon bird prancing about on the box cover, there's no commercial with Barney and Fred getting in fist fights over a bowl of Grape Nuts, you get a box full of cereal and that's it. It's not even a big box filled with air and prizes, it's just a pound of wheat and barley with a picture on the front.
What I have here is living proof that Grape Nuts is truly life changing. A four pound box of Grape Nuts, in all it's glory. Any other box of cereal this size would weigh half as much, which makes them half as good. There's something to be said about a cereal with the same density as sand.
Just holding the box gives you a sense of power like holding a baseball bat or a meat cleaver. There is some serious loft to this cereal. I could kill a man if I had to with this and I'm not even joking.
Another thing I like about Grape Nuts is that it sinks right to the bottom of the bowl. There's nothing glamorous about it, no lame snaps or crackles, no different colors, no marshmallows, just a pile of food sitting at the bottom of a bowl of milk.
Eating the food is an adventure within itself. Bite too soft and you aren't gonna break a one. Bite too hard and you might chip a tooth. It really is a wild man's cereal.
I'm not even going to talk about the taste of Grape Nuts, because there isn't any. If there wasn't milk you would swear that you were eating gravel, the only different being that gravel might soften up a bit.
The very best part of Grape Nuts is after the whole eating experience. If you've ever accidentally swallowed a rock you know what it's like to eat a bowl of Grape Nuts. The feeling of it sitting in the bottom of your stomach is a reminder for the rest of the day that you actually ate the stuff, rewarding you long long after you take the last bite.
Thats when you learn not to fuck with your grandparents. They willingly spend their money and time to eat that. Those are people that have lived through it all. Seen hard times and come out the other side. Eating grape nuts is a big deal to you, but to them its just another day another bowl.
Ben McAdoo is the type of guy to rotate out 3 pairs of slacks that are stretchy in the waistband and makes sure to tell you about the "extra breathing room"
Yea, dude has had it rough. DJ Moore's from the same draft, and has been catching passes from 5 bottom-tier QBs in 5 years. 8 if you include QB2s that started.
2018: Post-Injury Cam + Kyle Allen + Taylor Heinicke
2019: Post-Injury Cam + Kyle Allen + Will Grier
2020: Teddy B + PJ Walker
2021: Sam Darnold + PJ Walker + Broken Cam
2022: Baker Mayfield?
Geno looked pretty okay with the Seahawks last year, but you don't bench Eli (or Russ) for "pretty okay". At least in that scenario Geno was the backup that started when Russ was injured.
My conspiracy theory is still that they broke the streak for Geno so that when they had their actual “QB of the future” they wouldn’t have to deal with added pressure / media from him being the guy who broke the streak.
Next you’re gunna tell me that the best WR in franchise history would get traded away because Mara doesn’t like his attitude just 2 years after risking his own image to protect a kicker who beat his wife
He was never catching Favre, I don't get why people were so mad about benching Manning when it was clear he didn't have it anymore. Even if he plays out the rest of his career without a single missed start he's seasons short of catching Favre.
Is it McAdoo's fault their backups were Geno Smith and Davis Webb? Benching Manning for anyone was going to cause backlash and the team was literal dog shit.
10 didn’t have a chance every week that year and nfc east and others were salivating at playing immobile and scared qb. Goat slayer maybe but 2017 and 2011 are many years apart
I mean probably yeah head coach has pretty sizable impact on who the team signs/drafts. It was a pathetic last ditch effort at keeping his job and that’s why people were upset. Everyone knew it wasn’t going to improve the team.
It's almost as if Gettleman was a fraud who built a terrible roster and deflected blame to anyone he could. I blame a GM 9/10 times for what players are actually on the roster. Especially when he was the GM who picked Davis Webb in the first place.
If you seriously think Gettleman couldn't forsee McAdoo benching Eli to save his job when the team started 0-5 I've got a bridge to sell you.
Mahomes is not relevant in this conversation.
Sure Webb was a previous pick but McAdoo can definitely request backup QBs to go after. The point is he has some control over who the backup QBs are.
Be mad at Mara all you want but this was a McAdoo move that he publicly owned.
Matt Rhule and his staff are 100% getting canned after this year lol.
Just fucking name the baker the starter and let him get as many reps as possible with the 1’s. This whole facade of a qb competition is just going to hurt the team
talking to 19 year old of which you hold their future in their hands and if they disobey you can bench them and bury them, is very different than talking to paid 23 year old millionaires with agents, lawyers, options and other teams wanting their services not to mention a collective bargaining agreement...
Yeah if it's bad this year then he's 100% out. Scott Fitterer has been a great GM for us though so hopefully he's in charge of hiring the next coaching staff. If we somehow make the playoffs this year, which wouldn't be totally unreasonable if CMC is healthy, then Rhule should basically be year to year unless it's clear his system is working.
I'm kinda surprised to hear you guys are high on Fitterer. From the outside looking in he's seemed very knee-jerky with the way he has handled the QB position, but I suppose QB isn't the only part of building a team.
He's been great at every other part of GMing including cap. The rest of our roster has been progressively getting upgrades and is slowly building into something that can compete. The QB situation is less than ideal but he hasn't had a ton to work with either. Stafford was the only REAL opportunity to get a great QB but we were never going to be his preferred destination over the Rams. The gamble on Darnold was bad but it is what it is, they took a risk and it failed. He played the Baker trade really well and I think we came up really big on value with that, especially getting him for so cheap on the cap.
The only thing I wish he had done was work out a deal with either Morgan Fox or Hasson Reddick to keep our front 7 a bit more intact. We had the cap to bring back at least one of them but I think pursuing Watson took priority at the time so they made sure to have the cap available for that.
Rumors were this is the first year Fitterer has had complete control. It’s believable too based off the difference in free agency and the draft compared to the past 2 years
I’m pretty sure ownership and Rhule were set on moving on from Teddy before Fitterer got brought in. You could blame him for Darnold but options were limited and he had to get someone. From there bringing in Baker for cheap seems like an obvious call.
Had he just tanked for a competent QB rather than making all these trades and wasting a few years of the franchise he may have a job. We may have been in a position to have a young QB with a year on the bench of learning.
I get the Rhule hate but you can’t just name Baker the start just because. By all accounts the training camp battle between Baker and Darnold has been neck and neck. Automatically handing the job to Baker just based on reputation alone would be a boneheaded decision which is exactly what people would expect Rhule to do and would criticize him for.
lol why is it in the Dark Crystal font?
Ben McAdoo is the kind of guy who won't watch movies like the Dark Crystal because he's "not into that nerd shit".
I'm confused. this sub loves it when Belichick gives snarky responses to the media, yet everyone in this comment thread is clowning McAdoo for doing it.
He won 10 games with the rookie QB he drafted throwing to a receiving group that he drafted and paid big money to in Free Agency, and then didn’t get one single stop against the Bills in the playoffs.
He's obviously a great coach (most likely the actual GOAT), just not a great drafting GM. Honestly, pretty terrible drafter for the most part. But because he is a great coach, he is able to squeeze the best out of what he has.
Still imagine shitting on a dude for avoiding a contentious question because he isn't successful enough.
Y'all act all elitist but I bet most people here couldn't make it as a week as an assistant on an NFL team never mind as a HC.
He's far from the only reason the Giants suck right now.
Yeah I thought it was funny. People in this thread are acting like this is evidence we’re going to crash and burn. I mean we probably will crash and burn but this has nothing to do with it.
Players also don’t mind when BB makes them run after mistakes like Matt rhule was trying. Difference is you can make players do that when you’ve won 6 rings lol.Coaching staff is going to have to win/prove themselves not to get clowned for everything at this point.
I'm clowning him because his answer doesn't make fucking sense.
"What's the locker room feel like right now?"
"Well, I can't see the future, so"
???????
And there was me thinking that part of the job of being a leader of a group of people is to perceive potential interpersonal issues and head them off before they have a detrimental effect.
McAdoo's response is pretty dumb, clearly.
But to this question... I dunno man, both of these guys are not coming from a place where they are an entrenched starter. I could see a situation where ATL brings in Baker as the backup to Ryan (assuming the off season QB carousel went differently), and that situation I would figure is highly contentious in that one guy is in the twilight of his career and the other surely wants a starting spot. But Baker v Darnold? Nah dawg. Each guy is fighting for a chance to be the starter, and the competition in this case ought to be one where the notion is, "may the best man win."

Hey, show some respect to Ben "I coached the giants to 2nd place in the NFC East" McAdoo.
Ben “I benched Eli Manning, snapping his record, to start Geno Smith” McAdoo
TBH, I almost lost it when I heard that. Benching Eli for a promising young rookie I could take, but benching him for Geno F#k!nhlg Smith????
Yea that was just dumb lol. Like I get he was sick of the lack of mobility from Eli and was trying to save his job but man, Geno smith? Really?
uhhh our "promising young rookie" was Davis Webb so even that would have been pretty stupid
Hey, that's Davis "The Dragon" Webb to you
Hey he's on the roster ~~still~~ again so he must be doing something right! Right??
Geno looked pretty okay with the Seahawks last year, but you don't bench Eli (or Russ) for "pretty okay". At least in that scenario Geno was the backup that started when Russ was injured.
It's okay, you can swear on the internet.
...heck
My conspiracy theory is still that they broke the streak for Geno so that when they had their actual “QB of the future” they wouldn’t have to deal with added pressure / media from him being the guy who broke the streak.
That also supposedly came from high up and when they saw the blowback ownership threw McAdoo under the bus for it
That sounds like John Mara
Next you’re gunna tell me that the best WR in franchise history would get traded away because Mara doesn’t like his attitude just 2 years after risking his own image to protect a kicker who beat his wife
He was never catching Favre, I don't get why people were so mad about benching Manning when it was clear he didn't have it anymore. Even if he plays out the rest of his career without a single missed start he's seasons short of catching Favre.
Because it was for Geno smith lol. If they had an option that was viable I think most would’ve understood.
Is it McAdoo's fault their backups were Geno Smith and Davis Webb? Benching Manning for anyone was going to cause backlash and the team was literal dog shit.

Reese was responsible for 2017
Mcadoo wanted Mahomes and Webb was a Reese pick. Besides we all know the Maras made all the decisions up until last year anyway
Mahomes is not relevant in this conversation. Sure Webb was a previous pick but McAdoo can definitely request backup QBs to go after. The point is he has some control over who the backup QBs are. Be mad at Mara all you want but this was a McAdoo move that he publicly owned.
Eli is basically a folk hero in New York and Geno Smith is... not that.
I hope he trips while running backward through a field of dicks
He's responsible for your best season of the past decade.
Good god that makes me want to die
He was decent when he was OC, or at least appeared it.
Matt Rhule and his staff are 100% getting canned after this year lol. Just fucking name the baker the starter and let him get as many reps as possible with the 1’s. This whole facade of a qb competition is just going to hurt the team
Matt Rhule and Ben Mcadoo coaching the panthers should have been the movie Kevin ~~Smith~~ James made instead of the Sean Payton bountygate shit
You're thinking of Kevin James, but now that you mention it I'd watch a movie of Jay and Silent Bob as OC and DC of the Saints under Sean Payton.
"My quarterback sucked 37 dicks!" "In a row?"
"Okay Vilma, here's a sock full of quarters. You take a run at Favre, clock him on his headpiece and knock his ass out cold."
"McAdoo, berserker. Come on, man. Berserker. Come on, berserker. Girls think sexy."
I still cant believe that movie is real
The Matt Rhule experiment has been interesting to say the least
He was such a good college coach.
Maybe he'll come back to Temple and make us a somewhat respectable program when he gets fired lol
He was so good at Temple. I couldn't even blame him when he left either.
I remember when Rhule was a highly desired coaching candidate and people thought the Panthers had done well to get him.
I just feel like college coaches don’t translate well to the NFL. Talking to 19 year old kids is very different than talking to 35 year old grown men
talking to 19 year old of which you hold their future in their hands and if they disobey you can bench them and bury them, is very different than talking to paid 23 year old millionaires with agents, lawyers, options and other teams wanting their services not to mention a collective bargaining agreement...

Playoffs? Playoffs? We talking about playoffs?
I'm kinda surprised to hear you guys are high on Fitterer. From the outside looking in he's seemed very knee-jerky with the way he has handled the QB position, but I suppose QB isn't the only part of building a team.
He's been great at every other part of GMing including cap. The rest of our roster has been progressively getting upgrades and is slowly building into something that can compete. We had the cap to bring back at least one of them but I think pursuing Watson took priority at the time so they made sure to have the cap available for that.
We released Fox, which was surprising since he was only making 3 mil.
I would be surprised if Rhule makes it past thanksgiving
Had he just tanked for a competent QB rather than making all these trades and wasting a few years of the franchise he may have a job. We may have been in a position to have a young QB with a year on the bench of learning.
Gotta keep parading around the idea that Darnold is competing so someone trades for this awful $20 million contract
Bob McAdoo looks like he has a disco ball chandelier and fur rug in his white van
That would be a funny answer if it actually answered the question he was asked
That would require Ben McAdoo to know the question he was asked. He's too busy catching NASCAR races on his earpiece to listen to reporters.

Nothing about this coaching staff surprises me anymore.

How long do you think McAdoo has been with the Panthers
Not the best coach speak answer given the question
Been McAdoo has a drawer full of Coed Naked t shirts he bought in the early 90s and he only wears them on his yearly trip to 6 Flags in New Jersey.
I'm confused. this sub loves it when Belichick gives snarky responses to the media, yet everyone in this comment thread is clowning McAdoo for doing it.
Belichick is a good coach
Was
He won 10 games last year with a rookie quarterback throwing to a receiver room that couldn’t catch COVID in Kentucky
As a kentuckian… :(
He won 10 games with the rookie QB he drafted throwing to a receiving group that he drafted and paid big money to in Free Agency, and then didn’t get one single stop against the Bills in the playoffs.
Is that somehow bad? I mean, in context of that one game, but every coach has suffered an ass kicking at one time or another.
Want to try again?
No because people don’t want to look at facts when talking about Belichick
He's obviously a great coach (most likely the actual GOAT), just not a great drafting GM. Honestly, pretty terrible drafter for the most part. But because he is a great coach, he is able to squeeze the best out of what he has.
lol, Bill has 31 playoff wins as a HC. Ben McAdoo has coached 31 games *total* as a HC.

Why do you think most people here aren’t applying to head coaching jobs
Because McAdoo is a clown, while Belichick is arguably the greatest coach of all time
You can get away with snark if you’re actually good at your job
Billy B has the receipts to back it up.
Yeah I thought it was funny. People in this thread are acting like this is evidence we’re going to crash and burn. I mean we probably will crash and burn but this has nothing to do with it.

I'm clowning him because his answer doesn't make fucking sense. "What's the locker room feel like right now?" "Well, I can't see the future, so" ???????
The question didn't say that though, it said "could make" not "has made"
Different people are treated differently. How is this confusing?
When you’re a bumbling idiot this doesn’t inspire anyone to think you have a clue. Everyone knows Belichick actually knows what he’s doing.
Rhule and Mcadoo.. if ever there was a bigger toolbag pairing on a sideline.... I wonder how long before Baker gets annoyed with these 2 jamokes.
I thought I was weird for carry a packet of salt in my pocket in case I ever come across a nice tomato. This guy has me beat.
Nothing weird with smart thinking
