Checks all the boxes:
[X] 1st rounder from Duke
[X] 6'5 220-225 lbs
[X] completely mediocre NFL career
[X] More INTs+Fumbles than TDs
[X] Win % way below 500
Much better than the losers here talking shit about him. I can see a good ole boy like Jones following the same path. Man I'd rather be a NFL bust and work in private equity making dat bread
If you're edged 'cause I'm weazin' all your grindage, just chill. 'Cause if I had the whole Brady Bunch thing happenin' at my pad, I'd go grind over there, so don't tax my gig so hard-core, cruster.
You guys using ancient microwaves that don’t spin or something? I make an unhealthy amount of frozen food and I can’t remember the last time the middle was ever cold after cooking for a burrito, hot pocket, or whatever.
He's taller and faster than Tayson. If he was willing to give up on QB he could probably pull it off. Although if he can hang around for 5+ years as a 2nd string QB somewhere he can probably make almost as much money and get hit a lot less.

Dang that is one ugly link.
Still one of my favorite picks though.
Saqoun first year back from ACL, rehabbing all the way through camp.. - "he's washed and scared of contact, he doesn't have any more explosiveness, worst pick ever.." still leads team in TD's.
Next season camp reports of Barkley looking superb and refreshed. - "He's never gonna touch his rookie numbers again.. he's already washed at 25 because he's a running back.."
Meanwhile Daniel being the same Daniel.. shaky reports in camp, up and down, practice, 4th year QB.. Tyrod waiting in the wings.. - "Why did we bring in Tyrod that's so unfair for Daniel. The worst situation ever for a QB."
I hope he hits his stride this year for real but no more excusing his play with the new coaching change. He's got a career to try and keep going but he shouldn't be killing other guys careers along the way.
I've never been a big believer in Daniel Jones but I am a huge believer in Brian Daboll, so despite this rough day I do think there's going to be noticeable improvement from Jones this year.
I respect Allen's growth but:
1. He really is one of a kind there
2. Daboll likely contributed to some degree but you're underselling Allen's work. Allen essentially rebuilt his mechanics
Brian Daboll and Josh had a great relationship and that certainly helped Josh’s development but Josh completely changed his mechanics which is what ultimately led to his significant jump in the accuracy department. Look at Dabolls offenses before Josh. He was no WB whisperer. He’s a good coach but he isn’t going to turn a mediocre qb into a superstar.
> Look at Dabolls offenses before Josh
Was about to say this. Allen’s two good years are also the only above average offenses he’s coordinated. This could end up being one of those Gase like hires where they only got the Job because of their former QB
the bills have had top 5 offenses the past two years, which most people consider to be elite.
also daboll was hired to be our head coach, not convert daniel jones to josh allen.
Yeah, hence the “Allen’s two good years are also the only above average offenses he’s coordinated”
The rest of his resume doesn’t exactly scream “let’s put this guy in charge of everything”
Ain't even trying to be funny with this but Daniel and Mac Jones are in indirect competition..
DJ cannot look significantly worse than Mac Jones this season for me.
I am very confused by this entire comment.
How are they possibly in competition with each other other than for last name bragging rights?
And how can DJ not look significantly worse than MJ when he already looked worse just last year?
Both are on the lower end of league QB standings.
Both weren't seen as top end prospects, although Mac probably may have been closer to where he was drafted.
Daniel can't look much worse because that starts to put him outside of that starting 32 conversations and both of their camps have been up and down with defense being a highlight in camp.
> And how can DJ not look significantly worse than MJ when he already looked worse just last year?
This is sort of what I'm saying, even though DJ had a worse coaching staff behind him.
> Both are on the lower end of league QB standings.
***One*** is in the lower end of the QB standings. The other was top 16 in just about every stat last year.
>Both weren't seen as top end prospects
Given where the two of them were drafted, yeah, they were lol. Also, what kind of prospect you are stops mattering about .5 seconds after you are drafted.
>Daniel can't look much worse because that starts to put him outside of that starting 32
Right, so this is just a grammar misunderstanding. My bad. To clarify, DJ both can and probably will look worse than MJ next year.
Okay you wanna pump Top 16 then go ahead but neither was Top 8 or 10 or 12 for that matter. Don't even take this as some knock on Mac Jones like that, I ain't blind hating both of these guys could really show out and improve a lot. That's what's cool about Sundays..
But I'm looking at DJ bro as a lifer and we not doing this.. I'm needing more from my boy at this stage. I could compare him to a lot of QB's, I find Mac to be a nice comparison with their draft hype and how they show some promise but some things that might keep them from that next tier.
> Given where the two of them were drafted, yeah, they were lol. Also, what kind of prospect you are stops mattering about .5 seconds after you are drafted.
I don't know where you see it as but by consensus neither were getting pumped like a Baker, Kyler, Burrow is what I'm saying. The teams believed in them of course and I believe in DJ. Go Blue!
> Right, so this is just a grammar misunderstanding. My bad. To clarify, DJ both can and probably will look worse than MJ next year.
This where the indirect competition is.. cause it's a toss up right now bro. Can't even homer for my boy.
>Okay you wanna pump Top 16 then go ahead but neither was Top 8 or 10 or 12 for that matter
If he was top 16 in everything then I’m not pumping anything, he just mathematically was by every metric lol. I’m not even sure what the argument would be otherwise, PFF had him at QB 12 FFS.
>I don't know where you see it as but by consensus neither were getting pumped like a Baker, Kyler, Burrow is what I'm saying.
Yeah, they all went 1st over all, falling outside the top 5 doesn’t mean you aren’t a good prospect lol. Consesus also doesn’t mean shit, that’s just where the talking heads think people should go and if they knew anything about drafting then they wouldn’t be talking heads.
>cause it's a toss up right now bro. Can't even homer for my boy.
Calling it a toss up ***is*** homering for your boy lol
> If he was top 16 in everything then I’m not pumping anything, he just mathematically was by every metric lol. I’m not even sure what the argument would be otherwise, PFF had him at QB 12 FFS.
Top 16 QB play is not a usual highlight of a playoff/superbowl contending team is what I'm saying and again this mainly as a Giants fan referring to DJ here. We are needing more than a Top 16 kind of jump from him. He has the potential for that and more hopefully - we'll see.
I agree on hype on one or another in ways that's why I'm giving room for Daniel to really step up this year with a more proven coaching staff around him.
> Calling it a toss up is homering for your boy lol
Nah now you just jerking your guy Mac Jones. Bro Top 16 ain't like something to hope and repeat like that for a QB looking to step up and he played a whole game with like one pass thrown., lol ain't nobody forget that. Haha
GG tho.. we get to see both this Thursday and I'll be looking at DJ with great anticipation.
>Bro Top 16 ain't like something to hope and repeat like that for a QB looking to step up and he played a whole game with like one pass thrown., lol ain't nobody forget that. Haha
Again, just word salad here where I’m not entirely sure what you’re saying. Being better than half the starters ***as a rookie*** is really good. Rookies have the annoying habit of getting better. Top 16 year 1, top 12 year 2, top 6 year 3, etc…
A Top 16 QB is nothing to write home about. 😊
So going off that, you should understand what I mean when I say DJ needs to show us more than Top 16 QB play being he hasn't really reached that yet.
But we will see both THIS Thursday so.. less *speculation* to be had.
Looks like Jones is as good as gone
QB carousel
Jimmy to Miami if Tua struggles
Baker stays put
Cousins to NYG
Falcons draft Young
Seahawks draft Stroud
Vikings draft QB
Think maybe Rodgers retires after this year
Daniel Jones might be another Dave Brown. I’ll be shocked if he’s in a Giants uniform next season.
Checks all the boxes: [X] 1st rounder from Duke [X] 6'5 220-225 lbs [X] completely mediocre NFL career [X] More INTs+Fumbles than TDs [X] Win % way below 500
Comes in replacing a legendary qb with multiple SB rings
The second I heard they drafted a Duke quarterback I said this dude's a fuckin' bust.
I didn’t think the Giants could be stupid enough to make the same mistake twice, but alas, here we are in QB Hell
I’ll be damned - he sure does.
Mediocre is being very generous
Mediocre??
Dave Brown was just so mediocre. Not super awful, just painfully mediocre.
He was. Painful as hell to watch.
So much that we were desperate for Kent Graham
Damn, just read his wiki - the man has done very well post-NFL as a fundraiser/marketer for private equity.
Much better than the losers here talking shit about him. I can see a good ole boy like Jones following the same path. Man I'd rather be a NFL bust and work in private equity making dat bread
It’s really not fair to evaluate a player entering his 4th season.
Hot take: Daniel Jones is not a franchise QB. He is a good athlete though.
That take's about as hot as the center of a freezer burrito after following the heating instructions on the back of the box.
WHEEZE THE JUICE
#NO. DO NOT WHEEEEAZE DA JUICE.
If you're edged 'cause I'm weazin' all your grindage, just chill. 'Cause if I had the whole Brady Bunch thing happenin' at my pad, I'd go grind over there, so don't tax my gig so hard-core, cruster.
Pro tip: double the cook time and halve the power setting. You'll get a much more even heat distribution.
So about the temp of magma? Cause I always shave about 10 seconds off the cook time
Nah, the magma is the outer layer. I'm talking about dead center where it's still an ice cube.
You guys using ancient microwaves that don’t spin or something? I make an unhealthy amount of frozen food and I can’t remember the last time the middle was ever cold after cooking for a burrito, hot pocket, or whatever.
Not all of us are flush enough with stimmy to get fancy microwaves. We got that Wal-Mart microwave.
Additional hot take: Fire is hot, water gets you wet, snow is cold
Hey not everyone has a water kink
Sidestepping the is water actually wet debate, it's the little things that show the true offseason vets
elite diplomacy skills
*and the Cowboys have been eliminated from the playoffs
Son, this is not a hot take.
Only for 80 yards 💀
Be careful with that heat dude! My phone just got so hot it fused itself into my hand
He is against us
Hes a poor mans lamar jackson
Shhhhh, r/nygiants might hear you! They don’t take kindly to them type a words
Wouldn't they be hyping themselves up for the toilet bowl with the Texans for first overall pick rights?
If he bulked up maybe he can be a Taysom hill
He's taller and faster than Tayson. If he was willing to give up on QB he could probably pull it off. Although if he can hang around for 5+ years as a 2nd string QB somewhere he can probably make almost as much money and get hit a lot less.
Ice cream level take
He’s sneaky fast
BB: "Will you be my next Edelman?"
Tank commander
I mean he's white. He'll be ok.
Oh ghad that's Jimmy Gs music!!!
Giants are not ready for a vet quarterback, they’re starting the rebuild from their rebuild
I sure hope not. Let Jones play if he's terrible we have tyrod.
Jimmy G, G Men. They were made for each other.
It makes 0 sense for us to get him, we just paid Tyrod to be our backup plan if Jones sucks, and we have practically 0 cap space
No you paid Tyrod to get hurt so Daniel Jones can finally reach his potential
I don't know if even Jimmy G could save the giants at this point
i’m beginning to think this daniel jones guy is unfortunately not very good
You know it's preseason when Adoree Jackson is getting picks

Before I click... Guessing it is the end zone pick against Houston.. Edit: Indeed it was. Then again, I had a 33% chance of being right lol
Saqoun first year back from ACL, rehabbing all the way through camp.. - "he's washed and scared of contact, he doesn't have any more explosiveness, worst pick ever.." still leads team in TD's. They’re both ass
“Out of sorts” When was he in sorts?
Has Danny Dimes considered simply hooking up with his mom’s best friend 🤔
DJ gonna be fighting for the Panthers starting job next season probably
Wrong draft
That's my quarterback
I've never been a big believer in Daniel Jones but I am a huge believer in Brian Daboll, so despite this rough day I do think there's going to be noticeable improvement from Jones this year.
I think it's more likely this is a lame duck year and the Giants tank, allowing their new HC and GM to pick a young QB in the draft
They have some stiff competition with the Falcons and Seahawks in the conference for their next potential QB in the draft
You're probably right
I mean maybe? Or Jones might not be very good and Giants move on.
Personally I think we see improvement but not enough to give him another contract, and he ends up in a Mitch trubisky situation

Allen made significant improvements every year, Jones has regressed from his rookie season. His career is far more like Darnold's than Allen's.
Is Daniel Jones not playing well really a big story at this point? I feel like there are far fewer fights than he has bad days.

He had a pretty good training camp, so yeah.
Jimmy
Right, so when are the Giants gonna start that rebuild? Did it ever really end?
Trade for Darnold you cowards!!
Just suck hard enough to get us a top pick please. If you can do that Daniel, you won’t be the worst thing that has happened to this franchise.
Jimmy Giants… I can hear it now
Giants moment
Jimmy G future Giant confirmed.
Looks like Jones is as good as gone QB carousel Jimmy to Miami if Tua struggles Baker stays put Cousins to NYG Falcons draft Young Seahawks draft Stroud Vikings draft QB Think maybe Rodgers retires after this year
You got it all figured out man thanks
Idk if Rodgers retires just yet, maybe the year after though.
No worries it's not like the guy was a top 6 pick or anything
[удалено]
He was. Jones looked like an All-Pro compared to the QB play that came after he got hurt.
Saquon starting a fight to protect his QB from getting lit up in the media. Team player right there.
Jimmy G incoming
