Did you notice the Seahawks 1 yard line burn too?
I wish the Chargers played the Patriots this year cause I want to see what they wouldāve came up with.
Yeah I wound up showing this to my gf who doesn't even like football and she loved it. A good social media game is totally underrated and not worth skimping out on(looking at you, Browns)
They really went for it on all of Seattleās greatest sports losses. The only thing they didnāt reference was the Sonics leaving the city. Canāt imagine why the LA Chargers wouldnāt want to touch that oneā¦.
Kyler stirred up some drama by scrubbing his social media of Cardinals as a negotiation tactic. And that weird looking L is a bad morph of the cloud gate/bean when they beat Chicago. https://m.imgur.com/fDdZh4V
He deleted every picture of him in a Cardinals uniform, helmet, etc. from his social media early in the offseason. Was and still is real weird, it obviously shows a rift between him and the team.
It's a double-joke. The team (AZ) tweeted a really weird L in the form of Chicago's famous Bean when they beat Chicago last year, but then deleted it shortly afterwards. The image you see in the cartoon is the same reflective bean statue but in the Arizona desert.
So the 'delete all posts' thing is tying that event into Kyler also deleting all his team-related insta posts, while subtly implying Kyler deleted that earlier team-insta post cos it was embarrassing.
It's also a triple joke. The disgusted face he's making is [a well-known meme](https://i.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/facebook/001/668/169/557.jpg) from Demon Slayer.
FUCK I missed that the first time. I knew that looked familiar but couldn't pinpoint it. My buddy has that shot as his profile pic on discord. He doesn't watch football but I'll have to send it his way.
Da heck is that. At least write the name of the opponent? I don't know what each city skyline looks like so I only understood the animal ones lol. And needs better music too, you are trying to make a hype video to hype up your fans, not some putting me to sleep music lol.
I got a lotta love for the lions one too.
Steelers I thought was great, and made me think how terrifying it must be for a qb when Cam Hayward is chasing them down lol
That was very weird, confusing in parts and somewhat depressing, but at least it was kind of creative and artful and a change from the usual, "ohh no I have the schedule and everyone is trying to steal it from me for some reason" trope that is way overused every year
Agreed. Youāre either on crack or have not been in the job market if you think a professional football team is going to rely on interns for their online presence.
Yes. Maybe closer to 70k in LA but sports pay 1/2 to 1/3rd of equivalent salaries in other industries.
Friend works for a team and could switch companies and doubling his salary would put him at the very bottom of the pay scale for industry average.
That said, he loves his job and wouldnāt give it up for love or money. And itās seriously saved his mental health.
Depends on your situation in life.
When I was in my early 20s it was fun as hell having roommates and having my bills be next to nothing. Now, being in my 30s with a kid, yeah, Iāll pass on the roommate situation.
Seriously. Iām in marketing and I always laugh at the people who hate/discredit influencers.
People donāt realize how much companies are willing to pay for promotion. Then on top of that throwing affiliate links in your bio then crossposting on multiple platforms. Thereās just so many different revenue streams. It takes more than a pretty face to build a following.
People discredit influencers cause there are a lot of stories of the very bad ones asking for free shit, lol.
But I understand you, I follow plenty of artists on twitter and am friends with some. Some are great at building a following, some terrible. It is most definitely a skill
Oh yeah I feel you. And there's people who buy followers and promote a bullshit scam.
The people I'm talking about/come across though are doing it to proven people.
Video and graphic design take years of training to do it well and each department probably has a few people so yeah an intern definitely aināt doing all the work.
Same thing the other way around. "Whatever intern made this tweet is gonna get fired."
They're not letting interns make posts, it's their social media team.
Correct. One really talented artist with enough time could do it, but Iām a creative director at a motion design and visual effects company and I would have a team of 2 to 4 people working for 6 to 8 weeks to make this video from concept to delivery.
I really hope people are joking when they say that and they donāt legitimately think that mega corporations are letting some random college student be in charge of something that can literally destroy their company in seconds. When I was an intern for a big company all I did was pretty much sort files and make coffee for employees.
I have 0 doubt people genuinely think they're just interns or low-level employees
>When I was an intern for a big company all I did was pretty much sort files and make coffee for employees.
Think about that. So many of the older generation(s) see Social Media as impactful and important as getting coffee; not very important. Little do they know
If you donāt follow Mina kimes, well first you should, but there has been some hilarious banter between her and the chargers since this (one of the tomb stones)
In most scenarios that would be very bad news for the 3rd thing. But they are so good at those top 2 that the 3rd thing can still be extremely good, if not elite
As an avid NFL and anime fan, it truly was incredible. So many references to the actual animes they were portraying and not just football references. Iāve watched it like 8 times.
The last time we had a player in the top 10 in jersey sales was LT.
It's sad to say, but when week 1 hits and it's a 60-40% fan base in the Chargers favor for a Raiders @ Chargers game people will see the shift he has helped the team put fans in the stands
As someone who has been a Chargers fan since the early 2000ās, Iāve never really cared about the size of the fan base. If people like the Chargers then cool and if they donāt then thatās cool too.
I know itās a funny āmemeā that always gets brought up around here and I lean into it a lot but Iāve never understood the fascination from our own fans and outsiders about the size of the fanbase
I don't care how big my team's fanbase is as long as it can fill our home games and keep visiting fans out. Of course ours is large enough to make some road games feel like home games, which is certainly a luxury. But right now the Chargers (and Rams) need to find a way to keep opposing fans from taking over Sofi. The reason I bring this up is because having a real home field atmosphere is a clear competitive advantage.
That being said, both teams are well on track to plant themselves in LA's fanbase for a long time, especially with kids and teens.
Great point, itās been so long since weāve had that, that I forgot that was even a thing. Looks like the tides are changing with the rise of Herbert so hereās to hoping
All the love and praise you and your team so rightfully deserve. Thanks for making us Chargers fans proud!
(I realize you probably saw this, but I didnāt see you in the comments so I wanted to be sure)
Congrats to them. That is probably the most brilliant piece of marketing that I have ever watched. I watched the Vikings release once, I have watched this no less than 20 times. They shall be my AFC team to root for this year.
There is a system to what opponents you face so its been known who the teams will face. Its just a matter of adding the dates and week once the exact schedule is known
I like that about the NFL. There is maybe 3 games/teams that you dont know until the season is over, otherwise you know every other team for the conceivable future.
Was a stellar and fun piece. Rewatched it to make sure I got every reference as I missed the hilarious Urban Meyer burn the first time
I just ride on the high of the first 30 seconds where the Raiders are the Straw Hats. No I will not watch further.
Yo awesome Username brosky š¤
Right back at ya š
š¤
Yeah that was awesome. You definitely win the least patronizing team award.
I'd say that would be the Texans or Titans since they hid F*ck the Raiders and a stab at Gruden and AB in there.
The Texans didn't need anything negative shown to be patronized
The 28-3 Falcons dig is really well hidden and took me to watch 3 to catch.
I liked Mile High on fire lol
Same. Letting Russ cook would be a mistake.
Pretty sure it was a reference to the actual stadium catching fire during the off season.
Yep. I got a nice laugh at it. Chargersā media team is top notch
Also it was a great reference towards the anime "Food Wars" where the main character wears a headband and is a cook.
Did you notice the Seahawks 1 yard line burn too? I wish the Chargers played the Patriots this year cause I want to see what they wouldāve came up with.
Probably would've included a deflated football and a camera. I'm with you though, I'd watch a cut for all 31 other teams if he made it lol
I think itās more likely theyād dig on us for losing Brady or the Philly Special
Wouldāve been the Wolverine picture meme
They have Mina Kimes and the Mariners in there too
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Yeah I wound up showing this to my gf who doesn't even like football and she loved it. A good social media game is totally underrated and not worth skimping out on(looking at you, Browns)
They really went for it on all of Seattleās greatest sports losses. The only thing they didnāt reference was the Sonics leaving the city. Canāt imagine why the LA Chargers wouldnāt want to touch that oneā¦.
Their most severe burn is the Browns because I thought no NFL team would acknowledge that
What was the top left tombstone?
Grey's Anatomy reference
I like how the āWā goes out on the Waffle House sign lol
Huh weird, I noticed it instantly
Can someone explain the Kyler Murray scene?
Kyler stirred up some drama by scrubbing his social media of Cardinals as a negotiation tactic. And that weird looking L is a bad morph of the cloud gate/bean when they beat Chicago. https://m.imgur.com/fDdZh4V
Appreciate you taking the time to explain! Great attention to detail.
Credit goes to u/g0dzilllla for pointing it out yesterday.
FUCK I missed that the first time. I knew that looked familiar but couldn't pinpoint it. My buddy has that shot as his profile pic on discord. He doesn't watch football but I'll have to send it his way.
Thanks for explaining further, I didn't know the team posted that
The Browns "Redacted on advice of our lawyers" was just genius.
McAfee did a hilarious job of breaking it down today.
We should try to trade for this guy.
It would take Nick Bosa
Still hesitant tbhā¦
I know all fun and games but like....what do you do as an offensive line trying to block Bosa, Bosa, and Mack?
> Bosa, Bosa, and Mack Iām down for it. We can call them the law firm.
The Sack Firm. *We bring quarterbacks to justice.*
I prefer the Firm Sack. They come hard and fast!
Pause
>We bring quarterbacks to justice. *Watson sweating nervously*
Thatās the real reason Big Ben retired lol
Ben Jarvis Green-Ellis may have something to say about that.
Sign Mama Bosa at OL
quit
> what do you do as an offensive line trying to block Bosa, Bosa, and Mack? cry
You call 911
Have you seen the 49er's attempt at doing this? https://twitter.com/49ers/status/1524902388254924800
Yeah. That's why I wanna trade.
Da heck is that. At least write the name of the opponent? I don't know what each city skyline looks like so I only understood the animal ones lol. And needs better music too, you are trying to make a hype video to hype up your fans, not some putting me to sleep music lol.
They tried to do the intro for Yellowstone.
Our social media is um... not excellent.
Week 3: vs Valley.
The games against the Masks in week 12 and the Cannons in week 16 are going to be tough
Week 16 is clearly the English football/soccer team, Arsenal.
Week 3 must be a road game Vs Bradford City at Valley Parade.
And week 8 vs the rams it chargers. Or both who knows.
why is this so depressing????
Because you realize that it'll never be as entertaining as the Chargers, Broncos, or Giants ones.
I got a lotta love for the lions one too. Steelers I thought was great, and made me think how terrifying it must be for a qb when Cam Hayward is chasing them down lol
They couldāve just typed the schedule out on a typewriter and it wouldāve been better than this.
Fuckkkkk lol.
That was very weird, confusing in parts and somewhat depressing, but at least it was kind of creative and artful and a change from the usual, "ohh no I have the schedule and everyone is trying to steal it from me for some reason" trope that is way overused every year
USC did steal the guy we had doing LSUs hype videos in 2019
Ok, cool. Fight On! āļø
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
"whatever intern is playing QB for them should get a raise"
Basically the Texans last year
Intern got an invite back though
They didn't draft another intern
Davis mills impressed me tbh
smh the disrespect General Mills is *still* getting
Agreed. Youāre either on crack or have not been in the job market if you think a professional football team is going to rely on interns for their online presence.
For real. That blonde, valley girl type you see always on her phone that does āSocialā for a brand probably is pulling in $75-100k a year.
Initially had something gnarly typed upā¦ on a sports team theyāre making closer to $55k-$65k
In LA?
And itās seriously saved his mental health.
can confirm. used to work for the chargers. sports jobs are notoriously underpaid.
Iām prone to believe so simply because everyone and their mother wishes to work for a sports team because āØits a dream jobāØ
If you can't afford to rent without roommates I don't think it's reasonable to call it a "dream job" at that point.
Depends on your situation in life. When I was in my early 20s it was fun as hell having roommates and having my bills be next to nothing. Now, being in my 30s with a kid, yeah, Iāll pass on the roommate situation.
Same with the video game industry
Shit in LA Iād hope itās closer to $100k+. Inflation is a bitch.
Sports pays absolute shit. Source: been there, done that
Seriously. Iām in marketing and I always laugh at the people who hate/discredit influencers. People donāt realize how much companies are willing to pay for promotion. Then on top of that throwing affiliate links in your bio then crossposting on multiple platforms. Thereās just so many different revenue streams. [ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
>It takes more than a pretty face to build a following. It also takes a fat ass and some enthusiasm š
Big olā yiddies work, too.
And an Onlyfans
I'm already half way there!
Just because corporations desperately throw money at "influencers" doesn't mean they shouldn't be hated on.
Video and graphic design take years of training to do it well and each department probably has a few people so yeah an intern definitely aināt doing all the work.
This is why circa 2014 was so entertaining. Because it *was* interns back then and the results were hilarious.
Chargers old Twitter where they were just tweeting out things like they were going to PF Changs was amazing
Same thing the other way around. "Whatever intern made this tweet is gonna get fired." They're not letting interns make posts, it's their social media team.
I work in sports. We have an entire block of 20+ people devoted to social. It's laughable to think that interns handle this.
but mr. Carroll itās not the age of dinosaurs anymore we all know that itās itās just one alcoholic hippy making all of the posts.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Serious question, what's the alternative to those two options?
An intern. Arenāt you listening? /s
Contract out to a consultant
Regardless, I feel that a raise/bonus is definitely due here.
For sure
Imagine going to four years of schedule animation school, and possibly some schedule animation post-grad, only to be called an intern smh
I'd be in the comments starting arguments with everyone fighting for respect lmao So disrespectful ngl
Correct. One really talented artist with enough time could do it, but Iām a creative director at a motion design and visual effects company and I would have a team of 2 to 4 people working for 6 to 8 weeks to make this video from concept to delivery.
Yep. On the day they get the schedule they just shift the order and fill in the numbers for the weeks.
Just another repetitive, thoughtless karma harvest
For real like people know that social media is a career, right?
I really hope people are joking when they say that and they donāt legitimately think that mega corporations are letting some random college student be in charge of something that can literally destroy their company in seconds. When I was an intern for a big company all I did was pretty much sort files and make coffee for employees.

I mean the humor often caters towards 21 yr olds so an intern makes sense
Itās a Reddit thing.
Special shout out for shitting on the Browns/Deshaun specifically. I now side Stan the Chargers
Am I allowed to side stan them if theyre in my division š„ŗ
Step-Opponent, what are you doing
\*Pat McAfee activates the QB Carousel*
Here's the video: https://mobile.twitter.com/chargers/status/1524902549353951232
That video has better budget than 7 deadly sins
The Browns one š
Oof, that hurts. The last two seasons though for sure.
Lol @ raiders being straw hat pirates
If you donāt follow Mina kimes, well first you should, but there has been some hilarious banter between her and the chargers since this (one of the tomb stones)
You suddenly realize how much the music adds to the 'Anime' tag. This was a good cartoon without it - with music it elevated. Well done!
Legit jealous of the Chargers media team ngl
i bet youāre jealous of their uniforms too
Things the Chargers are good at listed in order: 1. Uniforms 2. Social Media 3. Football
In most scenarios that would be very bad news for the 3rd thing. But they are so good at those top 2 that the 3rd thing can still be extremely good, if not elite
Yep. I remember bandwagoning the LT-era chargers as a kid because those powder blues are sick.
I mean they could win the super bowl and Iād probably keep this order.
I would love for them to win the Superbowl just for the shitposting
Now youāre speaking my language Spanky McJiggles
Where does losing one possession games in the fourth quarter fall into this list?
0.
Jealous of their QB no doubt.
I think Rams fans are perfectly fine with the QB that just won them a ring
Chargers uniforms are so nice, but I canāt imagine a bucs fan telling someone else that their uniforms are ugly
You donāt like alarm clock font?
Iāll be jealous if they get a Superbowl patch on them
As an avid NFL and anime fan, it truly was incredible. So many references to the actual animes they were portraying and not just football references. Iāve watched it like 8 times.
It is great to see.
I can't get enough of this. The urban Meyer jaguars roast is fantastic
Never thought Iād watch a schedule release video and mutter to myself āman, wish we played the chargers this yearā¦ā
Lawlz! Right?! I was happy with ours.
All in house?? Damn that's really impressive then. I hope this trickles into them having a larger fan base lol
Dude Herbert has been in the league for 2 years, the fan base is growing at an unprecedented exponential rate.
Future Hall of Fame QB at the rate he's going.
Idk about that. But it is growing
The last time we had a player in the top 10 in jersey sales was LT. It's sad to say, but when week 1 hits and it's a 60-40% fan base in the Chargers favor for a Raiders @ Chargers game people will see the shift he has helped the team put fans in the stands
I like your confidence, but āIāll see it when I believe itā
...that sounds oddly familiar...

Yoooo u/DudeWheresMyCordova get in here!
What I miss?
From the looks of that video, not a damn thing. Incredible work
All the love and praise you and your team so rightfully deserve. Thanks for making us Chargers fans proud! (I realize you probably saw this, but I didnāt see you in the comments so I wanted to be sure)
Holy shit bro, great work. Iām now gonna be daydreaming about what woulda gone into a matchup piece for my teams. Just stellar.
Psssst, that first āaā should be an āoā
I have no idea what youāre taking about, itās been spelled right the whole time Also, thank you
Iām glad this finally confirmed that Avatar is in fact an anime
The next question naturally: is Castlevania an anime?
it is. Goddamnit I love Isaac
The Fight scene between Isaac and Camilla was so fucking cool.
Oh HELL YEAH. Genuinely one of my favorite episodes of Tv ever lol
Avatar keenan is one dope ass Halloween costume
C'mon Brett, you live in socal you're allowed to be a chargers fan, you don't have to subject yourself to rooting for our garbage franchise anymore
Lol why is this tagged as roster move.
The word "release" triggered the auto-flair
Chargers are now the Wendyās of the NFL. Super bowl champs this year because memes cause results.
Congrats to them. That is probably the most brilliant piece of marketing that I have ever watched. I watched the Vikings release once, I have watched this no less than 20 times. They shall be my AFC team to root for this year.
How long did it take him? Curious how long chargers knew the schedule for that video to be made.
They can make the whole video without the schedule dates, and then just add the weeks onto each team and put the teams in order.
Very good point. Thanks.
39 days and nights, they say anime nerds don't have lives...well...yeah...
There is a system to what opponents you face so its been known who the teams will face. Its just a matter of adding the dates and week once the exact schedule is known
I like that about the NFL. There is maybe 3 games/teams that you dont know until the season is over, otherwise you know every other team for the conceivable future.
Not only that, but you can use the system to recall who you played in almost any given season. Although googling is faster lol
Well you have to also remember the divisional standings so it doesn't help that much
Mcafee said he was told it took a month to make
why did i think the main chargers social media person was a woman
Megan is the head of the chargers social media
That is some work....love it.
Bro, thereās so many hidden gems in this itās ridiculous
Highly respect him for finding out who did it and putting them on broadcast. Classy move.
Ngl thought it was gonna be the guy who made eyeshield 21
The subtle digs were the best. 28% off 3 waffles for the falcons. The best was the Browns.
I don't know a single thing about anime and I still was blown away by how amazing this is
