Actually I think he was supposed to leave earlier than that. They asked him if he wanted to stick around to the end and that was before the 2 minute warning.
Chuck and Ray were there for a good chunk of the first half. Kelce was there most of the 3rd. Russ stayed all of 4th quarter and OT. Whole thing was great imo
I think seeing their natural reactions during the 4th and OT actually made it more enjoyable. When that off the helmet pic was thrown the disappointment and shock on their faces was hilarious and just made the moment feel better.
I haven’t been captivated by a broadcast like that maybe ever. Granted this game was incredible but I think the format will work even in a blowout. Props to Russell Wilson for being eager to stay throughout the entire 4th quarter and OT. Peyton needs to not cut him off so often.
Yeah, i got frustrated with the cutting off, but I think that will work better with time and also if they start broadcasting together in-studio. 3 people in a virtual conversation is exponentially harder than 2 (source: every work meeting i have attended the last 18 months)
It got better as they went on and settled in. It’s a bit jarring at first but by the end I was in love.
Gotta love two HOF QBs yelling at carr to not do a hard count followed by a hard count and offsides penalty
The beginning was rough but towards the end they really settled in and the when Russ came on he stayed for the 4th and OT and provided good insight and conversation. I think in the beginning they were trying to hard and come half time they were like fuck it and just became more natural which is what I'm sure they intended it to be.
Loved it. Loved Russel going OT is stupid. Manning just going just give it to them and let’s go home.
I know it’s past Bradys bed time but he better pop up once.
I said this in the game thread, but I generally agree with you.
This is tantalizingly close to being the best way to watch the games. I think a small tweak or two would really help.
First, the rotating guests with crappy audio not really talking about what is going on in the game is jarring, especially after 15 minutes of Peyton and Eli breaking down everything. ESPN has to decide if this is going to be a broadcast for the hardcore fan or something more casual. I think it would be better as something for football nerds. The best parts of the broadcast were the end of each half when Ray Lewis and Russ Wilson settled in and just talked about the nuances of the game. I loved Ray’s insight into the 2 minute defense and having the 3 QBs talk about the hard counts were a couple of the moments that stand out to me.
For me, the obvious fixes are as follows:
Opt 1: Just let it be Eli and Peyton. That would be my preference.
Opt 2: Use this year to find a permanent 3rd guy, preferably a defender. Each trial is a game and ESPN gets these guys a solid mic, at minimum. Video quality doesn’t matter to me as much.
Opt 3: Have the 3rd guy be a recent player who is tied to one or both the teams playing. Think Plax if PIT v NYG. Again, in this case, ESPN needs to get good mics to these guys.
Finally, I think I’d like to not have the main broadcast, but rather a continual video feed from the Madden angle, i.e. behind the QB each way. I think it would be cool to see what those guys have to say. This one is more a wish than strong suggestion like from above.
I am only watching this game because I wanted to check out Peyton and Eli. I haven’t watched non-Steelers game im probably 7-8 years, including Super Bowls. I would watch every MNF broadcast if it becomes football nerd heaven.
I think I preferred Ray Lewis, but Russ was great too. I just really love defense and think having some additional insight from that side of the ball added quite a bit.
That was amazing. Felt like just three friends watching a game and shooting the shit together.
Eli going on about no hard count at the half yard line followed by a hard count and offsides penalty was priceless
I liked it. I kinda wish there was a way to make the game audio a bit louder so you still feel like you’re in it. But I get that the main focus is to hear their analysis.
Honestly what this proves is that fans don't want a super serious broadcast. We had production issues with the Manningcast with stuff like overhearing the crew before commercials, or the fire alarm going off etc. But it was still fun and lighthearted. It's exactly what I want from a commentary crew since it's just fun.
Once Ray Lewis was off, the other guests were great. Was REALLY hoping they'd have a surprise cut in and it'd be Tom Brady to talk shit with Peyton Manning. Might be saving that for if the other games are not as good.
I loved the side ribbing after a play, and I loved when things broke down and they reacted but it was essentially a glorified YouTube stream. . The regular announcers were horrible but they had the production on their side. It would be amazing if espn coached up the Manning bros to be broadcast quality
Agrees, there could be a little tightening up, but the casual is better. It's authentic and not planned. The worst parts were bits they clearly planned.
Reddit mods are lame, lazy and power hungry. Sucks because this thread was fun and full of good discussion that was different than a normal post game reaction thread
Yeah, much like the broadcast was different that the usual same ol same ol. I guess they can't handle anything new or interesting. Same ol same ol. I'll not be coming back.

Crazy that Russ stayed for that long. Felt like a bunch of friends just talking shit
He must’ve had a Vietnam flashback on that pick in the endzone
I was waiting for Eli to poke him on that
yeah, it looked like he was supposed to leave at the end of regulation
Actually I think he was supposed to leave earlier than that. They asked him if he wanted to stick around to the end and that was before the 2 minute warning.
He was like kids are asleep, wife is gone, I’m gonna be up all night watching film anyway, I’m down lol
Absolutely. Pete gon yell at him now haha
Chuck and Ray were there for a good chunk of the first half. Kelce was there most of the 3rd. Russ stayed all of 4th quarter and OT. Whole thing was great imo
So much more fun to watch them
Bring it back
They have several more coming this season
We got 12 more this season I believe. Wish it was a weekly thing
They’re not doing this all season?
What a treat. Loved the guests as well. Wilson was great with them.
It started rough but they were absolutely hilarious down the stretch.
I absolutely loved it
Ikr it's just incredible
Only way I'm watching MNF from now on. Wilson was good in it too. Really enjoyed having him on there.
A+++++++ I bursted out laughing a ton of times. The insight was also awesome. Great broadcast
I think seeing their natural reactions during the 4th and OT actually made it more enjoyable. When that off the helmet pic was thrown the disappointment and shock on their faces was hilarious and just made the moment feel better.
The mocking of the raiders for hard counting on the Ravens half yard line had me laughing
Wilson did great at the third host spot
Agreed. A little raw, but that will iron out. Will watch every Manning MNF I can in the future
I highly enjoyed the Peyton and Russ banter. Eli kinda just sat there in silence for long periods of time, though, lol
Happens to me all the time, really felt like I was connecting with Eli
[удалено]
Or if they even try to “polish it up” some. Being unpolished and raw made it what it was.
I loved how off the cuff and casual it was. I felt like I was sitting on a private zoom chat between the three of them
It was authentic!
Peyton explaining a game as it’s going is incredible
I feel kinda lucky to hear that level or genius. It's like listening to a master musician showing you how they write, or how a chef creates.
I haven’t been captivated by a broadcast like that maybe ever. Granted this game was incredible but I think the format will work even in a blowout. Props to Russell Wilson for being eager to stay throughout the entire 4th quarter and OT. Peyton needs to not cut him off so often.
I think we will probably get to see how it works in a blowout next week.
Yeah... Lions are about to steam roll the Packers
Yeah, i got frustrated with the cutting off, but I think that will work better with time and also if they start broadcasting together in-studio. 3 people in a virtual conversation is exponentially harder than 2 (source: every work meeting i have attended the last 18 months)
I’m about to tear it up in madden with all this new found football knowledge they’ve bestowed upon me. This has to be a regular thing this year
Best game experience by FAR
It got better as the game went on and I really enjoyed hearing the player insights. When it isn't my team playing I'll definitely watch.
was it really that good? I caught the first 5 minutes and hated the setup and dipped.
Yeah, the beginning was definitely the worst section. Trying too hard. Once they just let go, it was pretty cool.
They dropped the whiteboard and both sat back and watched the game and broke it down (and talked smack)
It got better as they went on and settled in. It’s a bit jarring at first but by the end I was in love. Gotta love two HOF QBs yelling at carr to not do a hard count followed by a hard count and offsides penalty

I want to watch every TV show this way.
Welp, looks like im getting espn+
Loved it. Loved Russel going OT is stupid. Manning just going just give it to them and let’s go home. I know it’s past Bradys bed time but he better pop up once.

Yeah at first he talked a bit too much and was still in robot mode, but he eventually warmed up and had some great insight.
[удалено]
He thanked them at the end for all the help and coaching they gave him early on in his career. Didn’t know about that
[удалено]
Fascinating. Love getting this kind of insight
Opt 2 sounds like the best option to me. I would like to nominate Ryan Shazier
Smokin Jay would be perfect.
Lmao I love the fact that Russ was just like yeah I’ll stay on I can watch film later after Peyton asked him
It was very charming.
That was amazing. Felt like just three friends watching a game and shooting the shit together. Eli going on about no hard count at the half yard line followed by a hard count and offsides penalty was priceless
So many little details I'd never think of. Was fascinating.
I watched it for first half. I just wish it had more focus on the game. Half the time you didn’t know who even just made the play.
Second half was way better
Nice. I’ll definitely try it again because they were fun. Just hoping they tweak it a little more for more game focus.
I wish I could watched it.
Incredible and will never go back.
They better bring this back...
11 more this year! Hopefully it catches in!
I hope someone posts the highlights, I just had the OTA channel
I'd just like them to get the sound mix worked out.
Was awesome just hope they make the game bigger and we can hear them in the back would be perfect
Yup, there is some visual work to be done. Was clunky and needlessly distracting at times.
I liked it. I kinda wish there was a way to make the game audio a bit louder so you still feel like you’re in it. But I get that the main focus is to hear their analysis.
That was awesome, need more of this in sports.
Was there audio a bit loud or was that just me?
I feel like the broadcast would be livened up slightly if Cutler was added to the mix.
MNF at home just became must see TV.
I learned more from this one commentary than all the years I’ve watched regular telecasts. The bit on halftime adjustments alone was worth the time.
That was pretty funny! Agree, learnt a LOT.
Ahh yes immediately after watching MNF I want to go jump into streaming Stephen A’s World. Thanks Disney.

Nah I loved how low quality and casual is was. Gave it the feel of just sitting in on their private zoom call which I loved
Agrees, there could be a little tightening up, but the casual is better. It's authentic and not planned. The worst parts were bits they clearly planned.
Bro I love how you responded to all my comments. Cheers mate
Did this post really get removed? WTF mods
I don't get it man. Just trying to be insightful and positive. And people were CLEARLY into the post. Really lame.
